Tomtom 7 - Mogul, XV6800 General

Hi -
I've seen messages touting Tomtom 7 as being great for use with the 6800. I can't find it for sale anywhere. Can anyone point out a good site to go to to purchase this product?
Thanks,
Tim
PS - I'm NOT looking for warez sites. I would be happy to pay a fair purchase price if it's wonderful.

Mod Edit: We do not promote warez on xda. Next time it's a ban.

Gosh, I don't know how I could have been more clear. I buy my software (assuming that it's not freeware, of course! )
Is Tomtom 7 actually in release yet? I don't see it listed on the tomtom company website.

Yes, I can post the cab for you and you can install it, though it won't do any good without the maps. You have to buy the maps from TomTom.

So why can't you get the TomTom7 cab or installer on their site? I too had to find the cab somewhere and then go get the maps from TomTom.

Ok, thank you very much for all your help. I would appreciate that.
One more question: when I go to the tomtom site and tell it that I want to purchase maps for tomtom 7, it only offers me maps for europe, the far east and the middle east. I was hoping to find maps for the united states. Is that not possible?
Thanks,
Tim

If I go to their site and select United States and then the map products, I can choose the Go 300 product and then pick which map you want. They have both USA and USA/Canada available in the 7.x version. $129 for just the USA map.

Thanks. I'll go check on that right now.
How can I legally obtain the software?

Here's the cab for TomTom 7. As I stated earlier though, you need to purchase the maps from TomTom.

Ok, thanks. I see that I can purchase tomom 7 maps from tomtom.com for europe and the near and far east, but not for the USA & Canada. Another person suggested above that I can get appropriate maps if I just start with saying that I have a GO300. Are the map files usable on any device? That is, does it matter that I'd be using the maps that he suggests on an xv6800 instead, or will they actually work ok? Also, will I need to download and use tomtomHome to actually install them?
Thanks,
Tim

I believe if you use the same version map as TTN then it will work. The Go300 has version 7 maps. You might be able to get the maps after installing TTN on your phone and doing it through that program.

Thanks for helping. I have to ask, though: what is TTN?

My understanding is that TTN7 was preloaded onto the HTC Diamond and is not for retail - just yet.
I can confirm that it is superior to TTN6 in terms of operability and of course the TT7 maps are more up to date. I was recently in Australia and a new toll road opened a few months earlier than scheduled and it was already available for navigation on TT7 maps.
I have not used the USA map on TT7 yet because I didnt want to shell out the $$$ just yet and TT6 maps seem to be just fine in my area.

tomtom wizard is working fine but when i run the tomtom Navigator it says.."No maps found, please install and activate an original TomTom Navigator 3 map first."
Please let me know how can i get it working.
cheers
did you upgrade from ttn3 to ttn5.21?

Buy it!
People have been enquiring more and more about how to use warez on their handset which from what I've gathered isn't what this site is about.
Otherwise if they are "kosher" maps put them on your storage card root directory.

I bought mine but update to tt521 can't find Scandinavia-Map... Working just fine with tt5.00
I'm not sure the latest update (5.21) works with any maps other than GB and Benelux. This is what I have heard elsewhere, anyway, even though it sounds bizarre. Contact TomTom directly, ask them and then please let us know in this thread so we can help other people with the same problem.

I have been using GPS software for more than a year now, and never found a good software that was for free. Google maps is ok, but if you want a good one, then you have spend some $$. If you happen to come across any good free ones, let me know as well.
The paid software I use now is Odyssey Maps 4.0. Used to use DeLorme, but didnt like it as much as Odyssey.
Also windows live search new version has maps in it too like google...

TomTom Navigator 7

Hi all
I'm running a legitimate copy of TTN7 on an HTC Touch Diamond. I'd like to add maps of North America, but the map store does not sell them for my version, only for Navigator 6. The map version available is 6.75. Does anybody know if this map will work OK with TTN7?

You need to go outside on a fairly sunny day turn on the gps and let it sit on for about 5-10 minutes. First connection always takes a very long time. If thats not the problem, I cant imagine what is, as the connection to the internal gps is automatic.

you might also want to first use Quick GPS. It really helps in getting a fix faster.

TomTom for HD2

Hi,
Can someone please paste a definitive cab with TomTom for the HD2?
I believe this should not upset anyone - after all TomTom won't run without the separate maps which have to be purchased etc.
Collating information from the other threads here it would seem as though the latest version of TomTom would be the best one after all of the .dll's contained within are stripped out (correct?).
Look forward to <whoever> stepping up to the plate!
I would also be interested in this. I do think tom tom might object though.

I'm sure you might be right.. however (and without wanting to take this thread off-topic).. I have a copy of TomTom Navigator sitting in my hallway - still shrink wrapped despite having paid £60-ish for it.. the reason being that I knew when I purchased it that it wouldn't install on my (then) Diamond, however I did manage to find a working cab on here and maps etc. A stupid situation - TomTom should supply working installation media for popular handsets - fact of the matter is though then don't. So in this situation I did what I thought was 'right'. If TomTom want to argue this with me then so be it.. just my opinion btw!
I could post a .cab, but first I need confirmation that this is allowed.
TomTom works great on my HD2.
I'd like this too!
Can always email me if you want.... [email protected]
You can use any VGA version - is working just fine.
There's many links on this forum - just use search
Same prob here, I have the maps but the cab file i used couldnt find the maps which were located on the sd-card whilst the program was installed to the device. Also, the voiced didn't work.
You need to install the voices seperate to voices dir, and it wont find the maps unless its linked to your device, ahhem....
I have TomTom and Copilot, and i have to say Copilot kicks TomToms Ass.
And how is this linking done?

Does the version you have work with TomTom Home?
If not, how can I get my existing maps to work with it?
I tried a cab discussed in another thread and manually copied over my maps but when I ran TomTom it prompts for activation which needs to be done via TomTom Home as they don't issue a product id to use with ttcode.com anymore.
I'm hoping it won't be long till TomTom officially supports the HD2 but would appreciate knowing how/what you have working.
My version works fine with the HD2 and even updates.

Hi all,
i've tomtom v7.915(9196) and french map v675.1409

I just dont have landscape mode, but i know there is a mod to put the option in the tomtom soft.
I'll search for that.
I've got the cab, but you need to find a voice on internet.

that maps quite an antique...do a search for maps on ipmart and you'll find the very latest ones (v8.40) along with all the standard and premium voices you'll ever need...
yep i know it's an old one, i'll search for new one, thx for the link
If you find the rotate option or cab let me know
Latest maps are up to version 8.40
get bsb tweaks to add landscape to tomtom
are there others then me, who has/had problem with tomtom can't find maps?

You can use TT7 7.916.9189 Vga. Unable to attach
And after you installed the the cab then you need to rename or delete the following files from windows folder
BtcoreIf.dll
BtSDK30CE.dll
This will resolve the "Bluetooth radio cannot be swithced on" problem
Good luck
EDIT: please download from Rs from this link because i am unable to attach here

I have Tomtom 6.75 and just tried to install it onto my hd2 and got corruptd graphics, I am assuming thats because its written for qvga and not vga. How can I get a version that will work with my existing maps as I dont really want to fork our for new version as the existing maps do me ok...

Best GPS app(s) working on HD2....

I am having trouble finding a good working turn by turn gps navigation app (such as tom tom) which also works on the HD2....
any help/ advice ?
Thanks in advance...
TomTom works fine on HD2.
Navigon MN7, Copilot.
what versions ? and what are your radio/rom/ wm version info's, please ?
iGO, Garmin XT...
Tomtom works fine for me too...
*edit* ttn 7.917 at the moment, probably change that to 7.918 once I get the inclination to transfer the files... Radio in my sig...
Igo works fine for me. Sometimes you need to set the GPS device port to 4 before it will pick up the internal GPS hardware.
I use this. It is fantastic.

I've got Navigon MN7 and GF is trialling Copilot8, routing is similar but we both like the MN7 interface better.
Copilot also waits until just after you turn left/right before telling you to "turn left/right shortly" which is a bit confusing.
Copilot is good VFM tho'
are there any free equivalents ?

Warez is not permitted on XDA in any shape or form, whether requesting or providing
Consider this first and last warning!!!!
Any further requests or users providing warez will be banned for an undisclosed period of time
AFAIK there is no free turn-by-turn navigation for WM.

If you do a search on this site you will find a link to the TomTom v916 program for the HD2. The program is free, but you have to buy the maps.
You could always go to the ROM section and flash an official HTC ROM, as this comes with co-pilot. I have no idea how much the maps cost or it is a subscription as I don't use it.

Co-Pilot ranges from £26.99 to under £100, dependant on the number of maps you buy.

Maybe if we're lucky, Google will port their turn by turn from Android. I wouldn't count on it though.

Yes, anything that involves GPS + leaving your screen on for an extended period of time will use the battery fast. Get a car charger...
