Today I realized my phone has been getting rather hot lately unsure why... I do have brightness all the way but although I have setcpu installed... I keep it ondemand. But today I noticed it even go up to 105. Idk what the issue is. I just dropped down the CPU to 768mhz hoping it would help but why should I have to? I'll give a screenshot

So is this normal? By the time I got around to speaking about this issue... the temp went down a bit but this was after i underclocked to 768mhz. I've yet to over overclock, run a rom or anything... just rooted, removed bloat and that was about it. Very strange.

I would be worried if it's getting that hot without overclocking, but without seeing your settings I dunno what you've actually got set in setcpu
the temp quotes people give are in celsius... 105ºF = 40.5ºC which is ok. I personally set it temp > 40º to clock down to 800 max, and screen off to the lowest number for max and min
EDIT: looking at your kernel you shouldn't even be able to overclock... I might be a little worried...
I know and I don't know what to do... I also notice that now when I'm on wifi both the wifi symbol and the H stays at the same time when it use to be just one or the other. I don't know what to do.

I had the same issue but it was on my stock non-rooted 4g. I read in another thread(unfortunately dont remember which one) that if you turn on usb debugging it solves it. Not sure how or why it happens but I haven't had a heat issue since.

Well that's probably it... I have had the phone since release but have been afraid to do anything until a couple weeks ago.
I just installed my first rom - Redemptive Revolution 1.8 (love it BTW) but it came with the newest HTC kernel, so that's what I am using. I dont even have SetCPU on my phone. You think the sub 1200 is about right for not having it?

The app is called "Quadrant" and you can find it in the android market. XD Theirs also "Linpack" that you can use to test out Mega Flops.
got these scores had to redo test becuase drocap didnt capture screen like i wanted as you can see.. had to use shootme for second test and score droped a little. Im on ROM The new guy v5 with the blue theme v2. with king kernal bfs #5..love the ROM
**edit
BTW i was reading above about app killing(which i usally do) and both these test were done w/o killing apps and such went straight to testing..
Uber Rom Rules!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861285
I got 3985 on my HTC HD2 which isn't even a native android device. lol
This is 100% legit & I currently hold the highest score I've ever seen. The system im running is in my sig & has no set cpu or overclocking enabled. It has parts of the operating system stored in the RAM which has much faster I/O than NAND.
quadrant honestly doesn't mean much
And it's still at 86%...

Epic magical uber leet jesus battery thread ftw!
Pics or it didnt happen.
I only see it possible if you did a restore and haven't charged.
Example: Performed a restore using a recovery from two days. Before restoring the battery was fully charged. This will cause the amount from last charge to be out of wack and show the amount of hours since your recovery rom was charged.

Oh that? That's a ROM I flashed on your phone. It's called JokesOnYou V1.3
Changelog:
1.0 = Your phone is dead with that image displayed forever
1.1 = Updated the framework, your phone is still dead, but now it's Gingerbread
1.2 = (removed) sent continuous screenshots to Cyanogen, making him **** his pants. I got sick of donating enough for new pants.
1.3 = deducts a penny from the debit card you use in the android market daily to contribute to steve jobs' coffin. It's pretty nifty, called the iDead and continually updates it's users letting us know that he is, in fact, still dead...your phone (sadly) is still dead and will continue to display your insane battery life.

Foolishness.
56 hours isn't that crazy if you think about it, it's almost 2 1/2 days, if you put your in edge, and low brightness and don't text or call anyone or use at all, for that matter, I think you can achieve that. There's people who go for 2 days without charging. I don't see why it can't happen. It's not a blackberry but ****tt, it's close enough.

How does overclocking "happen"? Is it just like a file that says "you can do 1200 now, so go ahead" or are they specific cpu instructions needed to over clock. I was just wondering because every gingerbread build for the epic cant over clock

They need the source kernal. Then, the commands can be found and adjusted, to put it over-simply.
Ok, I wasnt sure how simple it was. I knew they needed source, I just didnt know how overclocking was done at a kernel level. Or if it was at a kernel level.

1.6 was absolutely fake. I run 1.4 all day but I have 1.45 and 1.48 test kernels and I can't run them at all. 1.4 seems to be it even though a couple of phones may be able to handle it.

Think of the rom as the body of a car with the ability to choose the trim level to your comfort. The kernel meanwhile would be the engine with the option to add and subtract cams, headers, etc to for your needs. The higher the performance the worse off you gas/battery milage will be. Undervolting it would be like getting a custom tune that optimizes mixture levels (think air/fuel) from from idle to top end.
I just wanted to start a thread where people can post their working UV settings for faux's newest kernel. I'm at -25 for everything and -75 for 216MHz, but I know I can go lower. What do you guys have?
One thing to bare in mind was people list UV values in this thread is that not all phones are created equal. Just because someone can get down to certain settings doesn't mean your phone can as well.
Also, make sure you don't check off "set at boot" in the undervolting section of setCPU (or whatever app you are using) until you know that the settings are safe.

Yeh I'm thinking these settings are not actually being applied. From what I understand u can set the undervolting to whatever u want. Doesn't mean it will take and stick and actually work. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and this particular kernel allows more than a 100mv jump between.

Got a reboot almost right away with that one.
After installing the latest OTA, (I'm 100% stock no root, don't hate,) i had to go back into the ##3282# menu and zero out the proxy values. No problem, I've been used to having to redo this after updates/rom flashes ever since my EvoOG. However, this time around, as soon as i did the mod, my Youtube videos stopped loading! I would IMMEDIATELY get a server error and tap to retry message. I went and restored the stock proxy values, and sure enough, the videos now work like a charm every time. Thanks Sprint/HTC, if you spent as much time getting us Jellybean as you do making our lives difficult, maybe your inboxes wouldnt be flooded with complaints =] i wish you and your devs uncontrollable diarrhea while stuck in traffic tonight.
