[Q] Will the aria get the new sense - HTC Aria General

Ive seen other HTC phones getting the new sense roms is it possible for us Aria owners to get it.

Nobody knows. Hopefully we will get it when the Froyo update arrives.

I seriously doubt it, the new Sense is just to big to fit on our memory. It might get ported over if it comes out for a similar device, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Magic forgotten?

Is it just me, or it looks like the HTC Magic is been forgotten by HTC.?
HTC Android phones are getting updates, while the Magic (and there for the Dream) are being forgotten... even the Droid is getting updates!
Whne are we gonna get some love from HTC?
Yep sure seems that way, I was waiting for the sense update but doesnt look like its happening. Be rooting it soon
I know, they promised a update on NOVEMBER!!! its already december and no news =(
Take the plunge and root it. Putting the CM rom on my Magic made me totally dig my phone
That's the sad state of our beloved HTC Magics. Really it isn't a stretch to expect updates since the Hero has the same hardware.
The Magic is easily the most under rated android phone, being able to do anything a Hero can do just is never given the chance to do so.
we had cupcake to donut the problem is becasue we have a smaller internal memory chip

Very tempted but mine is a work phone but if it goes bad, even unusable for a few day I`d have to buy another phone.
Also see alot of the roms have problems with BT etc which i cant have
i think another problem is HTC/the networks want to sell the new handsets they are releasing and if they update the handsets then it will be as good as there newly released handsets (software wise) so why would we want to buy a new handset from them untill it becomes a hardware issue
What annoys me is that HTC leaked the were updating the magic to sense. So I brought the magic(cause the hero is ugly) thinking I will update it and now there is no update.
Dont think my next phone will be htc

Possibly Getting 2.2 Soon

I don't want to get peoples hopes up buuuuuuutttt-
Mytouch 3G to get 2.2 from next week and onwards.
Keep in mind that the Slide is a HTC sense device. If they have sense prepped and nearly ready for the Slide imagine where our update stands.
Keep in mind that 2.2 is a incremental update and not nearly such a huge leap as going from 1.5 1.6 to 2.1.
I'd agree. But the mytouch slide isn't a sense device...its got a custom t mobile UI. So no beans. It'll get here when it does. No worries.
From what I read on specs it does indeed include the sense ui. Otherwise I would not have bothered creating a thread.
Edit: I stand corrected. Darn. Other specs I looked up online listed the Sense UI. Looks like thats no longer the case.
The myTouch 3G Slide doesn't use HTC's Sense UI, but it doesn't really use stock Android, either. HTC and T-Mobile have made some subtle changes that make the Slide at least different from other Android handsets, if not more usable.

I'm pretty sure it's a t-mobile influenced version of sense
Still, this its verizon we are talking about. They are notoriously slow at updating their phones
HTC Desire is rumored to get a 2.2 update at the end of June
Would love to see 2.2 on my INC but I'm not holding my breath on root
Didn't they(VZW) update the droid eris pretty quickly especially compared to sprint and the hero or maybe I'm bugging

Correct, at its heart its Sense UI. All the Sense features work, T-Mo just got a hold of it and made it ugly, I mean I HATE that box crap around all the icons, it looks retarded
I would assume that T-Mobile just modified sense, and in order for them to produce an update they would need sense 2.2 from HTC. As such, I think it would be safe to also assume that HTC is preparing 2.2 for their other devices as well.
I just remember it taking ages for vzw to release the 2.1 update for the moto droid... And that is bone stock

Would you restore your faith in HTC if Froyo was released to the Hero on August?

Just curious about all of you who said that would never buy an HTC phone ever again...
If HTC surprised everyone by releasing Froyo on August alongside the update to all the other devices, would you consider buying another HTC handset in the future or your faith is lost forever?
If that happens, for sure I would buy another htc product. Even if it didn't I'm still an Htc fan boy.
I think either way, I'd buy another HTC device. Of the Android devices I've played with, I still think Sense UI has the smoothest, most complete interface, and I like the way it works. To be honest, the Hero's the first phone I've ever had that actually received an update! (Though it's also the first smartphone I've had.) Granted it was a few months late, which was frustrating, but then again, it's better than none. And besides, HTC phones probably have one of the most active dev communities of any phone, here at XDA. Based on this, I'd definitely consider another HTC phone. Just my two cents.
ive just bought a desire so im not bothered eitherway anyway the great dev comunity here is gunna give us froyo long before htc

Android 3.0 Gingerbread not going to be on Aria?

Hello all, I've been lurking on the forums waiting for my Aria to get delivered but couldn't help and register to post this bit of information.
dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=18897
Can't post links yet sorry, but from the looks of it, Aria's specs don't meet the requirements for Android 3.0. T_T
I know 2.2 hasn't been completely ported yet, but disappointing news nonetheless.
Hoping that information changes in the future.
I have faith that if it is physically possible the same good folks here who are working on getting us 2.2 will manage to get us 3.0 as well, I might be wrong but so far xda has only surprised me in good ways
So very true.
The devs here and at CyanogenMod will have Froyo working on the G1. I have no fear Gingerbread will be outstanding on the Aria due to their abilities and efforts.

I personally would be extremely thankful for an OTA 2.2 update. Give me that and I'll be happy.
I'm happy with the way 2.1 looks and runs now, and when we get 2.2 I'll probably be even happier.
I don't think I will be craving some gingerbready goodness unless it has some really awesome features. And unless google pulls a miracle, I dont know how the interface can get any nicer than Sense.
And having both 2.2 and 3.0 on the market together is gonna cause some version fragmentation when it comes to apps.
My thought about Gingerbread is that many of the "wizbang features" seem to be processor hogs that'll chew battery life.
I'm not sure upgrading to Gingerbread on my Aria would be worth it. Plus, I actually like Sense and Android 3.0 will be Senseless.
A bit vague, but it it looks like the rumors may not be true (and 3.0 will come to sub-1ghz devices)

[Q] Froyo + Sense restrictions on the Aria?

More than one web site describing the new HTC Gratia state that while it is running Froyo, it will not have the "new Sense UI". Is that because of limitations from the hardware?
I am still on my 30 day grace period with AT&T and got the Aria for two reasons - I hate the iPhone because this is what everyone seems to have and the Galaxy S is too big for my taste. Unfortunately I am stuck on AT&T but if the Aria is already showing limitations and is likely to run out of steam soon I may need to bite the bullet and get an iPhone 4... shudder.
Care to post a link to your source.

First of all, no one knows for sure if the Gratia will come with the new Sense UI. People are ****ing freaking out over it like it's the end of the world.
Second of all, the phone is not "running out of steam".
"But, it's only 600mhz!" - Clock speeds do not matter much anymore...
"But, but but!" - shutup...
And anyway, if HTC decides to not officially support some new things there are people out there that can port/hack the phone to death to make it work flawlessly. Not a reliable way to look at the scenario but I don't care.
Edit:
After a quick research, is it even possible to run "old" Sense on android 2.2? On any phone? I didn't think any of the new HTC phones coming out with Android 2.2 had the "old" Sense UI - all have the "new" Sense UI.
I think by New Sense, they are talking about the version that's on the Desire HD and Desire Z (HTCSense.com and all that). Old Sense probably just means normal Sense, like what is currently on the EVO and other 2.2 phones.

Yeah, that's hella hilarity!!!
If this phone is running out of steam than the "big boy" android phones better be able to cook me dinner and tuck me in at night!
The only real restriction on this phone is the processor type not the speed ie will not work with flash due to flash not being coded for the processor in this phone, not a speed issue.
