So before I could put my screen protector and outer shield on, a tiny piece of something got stuck in between the outer edge of the screen and the metal band around it. Is there any way to remove the metal band so I can get it out? It makes a clicking noise when I hold the phone (because there is now space between the metal band and the edge of the screen) and it's annoying the living **** outta me.

use a smaller needle...? i dunno what kind of needle your using but they get pretty damn small and looking at my phone the needle im holding would work perfectly...
otherwise you pry have to take the phone apart by unscrewing it in the back

thats the i9000 but its pretty much the same phone
Needle's get pretty small man, they'll work for you. Just get a 28GA needle.

I use the k-jam alot. and after taking the pencil out and back in again it has got so loose now that it usually drops out. any one else hade same problem and how did you resolve it?
I had same problem with my BA. I'm not sure the wizard has same retention tab, but if it does, then this works.
-Back up your data.
-Remove the cover you will find a small tab in the stylus channel intended to engage the notch cut into the stylus. Gently push the tab back into the stylus channel so that it will engage the stylus notch once again. Be careful if you push it too far it will break.
-Slide the stylus into the channel to verify that the tab again engages the stylus notch.
-Remove the stylus again.
-Apply a small dab silicone sealant (available at any hardware store) behind the stylus retention tab. This is the "V" shaped area between the tab and the case. Be sure to fill this entire area. When the silicone has cured it will become a spring with much better position memory then the original plastic tab had on its own.
-Allow 24 hours for the silicone to cure before inserting the stylus into the channel.
I believe this is more then a repair, it is an upgrade.
Good Luck,

Thanks for the tips.
I was just thinking of what to do when i came acroos some bluetac .
I put some blutac in the hole were the stylus goes and pushed the pen in. and it was a miracle !!! The stylus stayes in with a good hold and it comes out clean with no bluetac on it.
whe the bluetac trys to come out it has no room coz the stylus filles the space so it stays in the edges and grips the stulus pen and keeps it from getting loose. .
problem solved !!
Nice Catch

Yes it does.
Easy and simple way of not opening or messing about with k-jam to void warranty.
I mean. you will not viod waranty this way, but will if you open the k-jam
one time around the stylus with some tape works great to.
But what happen if the blutac starts to ware off?

Then I'll pop the case  , extract the bluetac and do the silicone mod.
I'd be surprised if it does wear off though. It's superb stuff that's saved me a few quid in the past when in rented accomodation - bluetac and tippex to create the illusion of undamaged walls
Can you please give me a hint what "bluetac" is or means ?
I have dismantled mine, and I can see why this is breaking - see my post regarding the sylus silo.
when the stylus is getting loose, when you are pushing it in do you "feel" it going further forward than it did before?
It is because the plastic tab is not strong enough to resist the pen, and you are now pushing it further forward than you did before.
This is what causes the stress on the plastic, and then the crack. This black plastic part is molded to the entire back of the phone.
I have fixed this by wedging some folded paper behind the black plastic clip, and it is back to normal. I was lucky - I had not stressed mine enough that the plastic had cracked.
I have taken some photos of how to get the back off, I will post them when I return from my business travel.

Ignoring my [email protected] spelling (should be "Blutac"), it's this stuff: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/BrowseProductDisplay.aspx?ProductId=17307&CategoryId=579-580-594
I'd be interested in seeing the photos on how to dismantle.

I have now started collapsing the stylus before inserting it into the hole so it doesn't push against the end and only goes as far as the moulded plastic bit at the top.
just wrap a piece of tape around the stylus and it fits like a glove again.

This is only a temp fix, did that and after a week or two back to the stylus dropping out. I am waiting for the pics on how to get the back off and do a more permanent solution, you would think Imate would have caught this in their product testing phase before going to production.

the pics are in the upload folder, called wizardpics.zip - the ftp upload attachment does not seem to be working?
to remove the top half I used a flat knife. It is quite resistant. You can see where the tabs are in the pic.
To remove the back completely, you need to remove the void sticker, and under there is a screw. there is also one opposite.
You will also need to remove the 2 screws at the bottom, one in the stylus channel, and the other on the opposite side.
then use a plastic splitting tool if you have one, or a credit card to work round the case.
you can see in the pics where this comes off.
You then want to re-enforce behind the stylus notch. I used a piece of folded card.

i did the blutac thing but might have put too much in cos the grey plastic end i use to pull stylus out just broke!
I've gotten som scratches on the piece under the hardware buttons, I don't know where they have come from. All of sudden they where there..
Anybody know how to polish or remove them...?
I had a similar thing...i am currently using a silicon case which covers that area...so i'm guessing dirt got in. however, what i did to "repair" it (don't laugh, this worked) was to take a TINY amount of my girlfriend's exfoliating facewash (with tiny granules in it) and just rub the area gently for a while. VOILA! (oh, and i'm guessing one shouldn't over do it. as in, don't scrub till your thumb bleeds)
let me know if that works
Is this silver colored piece below the hardware buttons you refer to actually metallic or plastic colored metallic?
It's genuine anoxidized aluminium
Looks like titanium but it's not.

I have in front of me a perfectly fine HTC HD2, but the digitizer is cracked and not responding.
I ordered a TMOUS HD2 digitizer replacement, and am waiting for my T5 torx screw to come.
Beside these things, I heard that I'll also need 2mm 3M double-sided tape.
Is it possible to reuse the ones that are currently holding the cracked digitizer?
Or should I start hunting for some of those tape?
I used 4 drops of superglue when I replaced mine...
I used crazy glue but it left white residue. I cracked digitizer again so this time I will use 2mm tape, not crazy glue. I also used regular 3M tapes 1/2" wide but I had to trim it. It's a pain in the ass but doable. Now, I will buy 2mm tape instead.
Has someone a link?
Today i reopened my phone because using the old pieces of tape wasnt holding enough, so the screen was a bit over the housing.
Now i used thin tape (noname) and had to cut it myself, what really is a pain in the ass. THe problem is, that with cutting and then fingering this togehter my screen not is very stable but still to high.
If i order tape now i want to buy the right one!!!
Has someone a link or article number? Dont want to buy just a 3m 2mm tape that is to thik or something...
So 1mm or 2mm?
Is there a difference in hight?
I got this:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/3M-2mm-ADHESIVE-...280211?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item255d9bc793
Thank you!
What did you use it for? Only the display and touchscreen or did you glue the display to the housing and the part unter the buttons with this too?
After opening it twice i think i need:
-Display with touchscreen
-Display in housing
-The parts of the touchscreen that stands over the display ( buttons and lightsensor) , to the housing..
Do you know a more exactly name for the Tape?
Someone wort about LSE300 but this is only the category name ;D
But anyways thank you for the seller, the tape was good for yoU?
How did you guys remove/plan to remove the glass from the LCD?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Just warm it and with a razor(razer? you know the sharp flat knives ;D) you cut along the edges.
Just make sure you move the razor parallel between the touchscreen and display, so you dont break or scratch the screen.
For heating up, you can take a hair dryer or put it in the oven for 5-10min. I think 50°C(a bit longer to heat all trough) . More temperature shouldnt be a problem, sun on black surfaces often gets ~80°C but dont risk it, and you need to touch it to remove the screen
------
For the soldering version a little hint:
The cable on the new touchscreen can be soldered from top and downside.
You dont need to solder on top the little overhang, just put a bit soldering tin between, then cable on top and let the heat go trough the cable to heat the tin on the underside=> more space and all the way conected.
There is a little round mark to alighn the new cable. Use this, or the chip on the cable will not fit unter the hole in the housing ;D
If its hard to solder just put a bit soldering tin on the display first. Then put the cable above and press the soldering iron on top. The soldering tin you put between will connect them perfectly. Use a tool to press the cable on the display untill the soldering tin is hard.
The secret of basic soldering skills is not to move after you take away the soldering iron until the tin is hard, every movement in these seconds makes the soldering spot weak or its not connected right.

Wow that's quite interesting. I broke another hd2 a while ago, and its just laying around. Screen works well, I just hated the cracks. I may try this out...
Edit : if someone could make a video tutorial, that would be sweet. The one online isn't so great

I haven't used it yet, because I bought it last week and they're still shipping it to me.
I'm going to be using it to replace the tape between the old digitizer and the LCD.
I thought the display-to-housing tape was padded, wasn't it?

Yes, there are many kinds of different tapes. Thin, padded, metalic and some seemed to be more like glue dots.
But i dont think its so important do rebuild this exactly
Starting from 5:00 he seperates Display and Touchscreen ;D
But the guy soldered from top, you can actually see it at 7:40, i think its better to solder between display and cable, as i tried to describe above..
That lucky guy was able to reuse the whole tape as it was, but im not sure if it is still so good, even if it is one piece.
When my tape comes, i will eventually make a little screen replacement video ;D
But my camera is not very good at close-ups, but i try ;D
One of the first things I noticed about my Atrix is that the battery cover doesn't sit completely flush on the right side -- there is a tiny gap, and the cover creaks whenever I put any amount of pressure on that side. It's making this otherwise nice hardware feel pretty cheap.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Anything I can do to fix it myself?
my atrix fits well tho, maybe u need a replacement
give it a pretty firm push. theres little tabs in there that feel like theyre going to crack but they will keep it slightly up if not forced down. just make sure its lined up good and it should be ok

this.
when the chick at the store handed me the phone there was a gap on one side, i had to push on it pretty hard for it to snap into place
There should be a little gap on both sides, that's so you can get a fingernail in there to pull it open. If nothing is jamming the clips and it doesn't fit right...heck, it is just molded plastic and sometimes the plastic isn't molded right, take it back. See if they'll swap a cover for you.

Uuh.... no.... you open the case by pulling from the top while grasping the sides. The sides of the rear cover are supposed to be sealed flush with the rounded side bits of the back of the phone.
Oooh, that was much easier!
NOW I get it.
Postal, you guys got me playing with my battery cover, trying to teach my fingers how to make it pop easily.
And I realized ONE SIDE had a tight fit, the other side had a fingernail-sized gap. Played around some more, and evrentually found that if I seated the "loose" side first, the other side would snap down tight, so the cover fits nice and tight all the way around.
It should matter, but apparently it does. If you carefully seat the "wide" side first, the whole thing may snap down nice and tight.
FWIW.
Hello everybody!
I´m new to this Forum and want to share my little Hardware Mod tutorial for our RAZR i.
Q: What it does?
A: It strengthen the bottom plastic cover.
Q: Why i does it?
A: Because my bottom cover makes creaky noises when pushing with my fingers.
Q: What do i need for this mod?
A: Only your fingernail and a piece of paper.
Q: Is it easy to do?
A: Yes, realy easy.
My Problem with the bottom plastic cover was that it makes creaky noises when i push
it with my fingers. This was realy annoying for me as the rest of the phone is
made of metal and only the bottom plastic cover has a weak feeling...
So i open the plastic cover with my fingernail, starting on the edge.
It is only hold in position with a few plastic clips and a little doublesided-tape.
So no problem to open. Dont worry! Just put your fingernail under the plastic and open.
The plastic cover has two little plastic pins that fit in two little holes in the phone-housing.
But these pins are (in my case) a little to short or the holes are a little to deep.
So if you push the plastic cover will bend until the plastic pins reach the end of the holes.
This makes the creaky noise.
So i looked at the holes in the phone-housing to fill them a little up with something.
I decided to put a little bit of paper in the holes. That helped a lot!
Just try how much paper you have to put in until it is to much and the cover won´t fit again.
After that you can easy put the cover back. No need for doublesided-tape because of the plastic clips.
Now if i push the plastic cover together with my fingers it never bend and never makes
creaky noises! It feels a lot better than before!
On the Picture you can see the red arrows show the two plastic pins i mean.
I hope everybody can understand what i mean. Sorry for my poor english...
Also i hope you like my little tutorial and happy modding!
greetings, 5m00v3
P.S. DONT BLAME ME IF YOU BRAKE SOMETHING. THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I have the same problem but I really dont notice it unless I press tha plastic on porpuose. I tried aligning the papes so as not to have the sound but I only decreased it. So I took them out in fear that I would bread the plastic, It seemed blown up
Just tried it, works like a charm! Makes my phone feel really sturdy.

Nice to hear! :good:
@rodrigoauditore
Did you fill up the holes or where did you put the paper?
If it is blown up then maybe you put to much in it?
Or try some different positions under the cover to fill up...?

I stuck little balls of paper were you originally posted, but that didn't do the trick so I leyed down another paper on top of everyting, almost covering the glue or whatever the sticky thing is. I think I need better instructions as of where to put the paper
U need only to fill up the holes for the two plastic-pins...
I will try to add more Pictures to show where to put the Paper.
I tried once again and this time I got it right. It only makes sound when I press it too hard on the center. Thank you!
