[Q] My DroidX won't turn back on - Droid X General

I went to sleep two days ago and my droid ran out of battery, i have try to recharge it , but i only get a green light and wont turn back on ,,, I have removed the battery also the sd card hold home and power and nothing seams to work !!! any suggestions that i need to try before taking it to exchange

How long did you charge it for? The DX wont turn back on if the battery completely dies and hasn't been charged to at least 20% I believe.

i recharge it for abt 8hrs.. i just came back from two differnt verizon stores and they dont know about it or how to fix it.. they say might have to get another ...

Did they try a new battery??? Replace the battery, first, before replacing the X...

yeah coz no body has try a new battery on it .. im gonna have to go to best buy and see if they have one there even tech at verizon they said dont have battery for that phone there and they should right .. .. ill try a new battery if that doesnt help then im gonna have to order a new phone

Thanks guys just came back from verizon store .. and Finally somebody did what Str0ntium and i want them to do .. try a new battery .. my was out of juice so that why it wouldnt power up or recharge.. .. different Person at Verizon store tried the battery from his own DX .. and my phone turned on . once the was done , he let the battery charge for like 5% on his phone . then put it back on my phone . witch turned on and started charging normally .., im thinking on buying the xtended battery .. they said might give me like xtra 2 more hours .... will see what happens... .. i just got frustrated that to have somebody to try a new battery took me like 3 days .. very poor custumer service thats all i can say ..

I had the same thing happen to me a month ago. Can't find the link right now where I learned this right now but you have to do some jerry riggin to fix this. You have to take a usb cable and cut off the end that would plug into the device, find the red and black wires and wedge them between the proper terminals between your phone and the battery. If done right you can get power to the device to turn it on. Once on just remove the usb fast and plug into a normal outlet. Had to do this a few times and if done right works like a charm.

I ll keep that in mind in case i ran in to something similar .. but hopefully i wont have to do it .. hehehe !!

Dead DroidX
If you allow your Droidx to fully discharge, it does not have enough power during inital recharge off a computer connected USB to get the recoginition that the device needs to be charged vs data tx. Just use your wall charger (Dumb Charging Unit w/no data line) no need to modify your cord. Just do not let get com[letely discharged and you will not have this problem.

I saw something similar but instead of wedging it in between the phone and battery I used some electrical tape and stuck the red and black wires from the usb cable directly to the battery. I let it sit for an hour and then I was good to go.

Next time charge it on the wall charger instead of a USB cable...

Yep happened to me a few weeks ago... I had a broken bootloader which you have to have in order to charge the phone. I just sacrificed a usb cable, I cut the ugly side with the usb-b form factor, and used a couple paperclips to pin the battery down. It took about two and a half hours to get full... just remember red on red, black on black.
DroidX x2, Droid2, Droid1, DInc, and LG Ally x2 makes for a big Verizon bill.

My is Wizard Dead. Please help

I got a used wizard today,it is a few weeks old I also got a cradle with it.
I pluged in the cradle to the USB port and the charger to power, after playing with it for 1-2 hours I placed the wizard on the cradle to charge and after a few mins i noticed that it was over heating. I removed it from the cradle right away and noticed that the battery was droping 1% every minute or so. After it was down to 27% i removed the charger and left only the usb connection and placed the wizard on the cradle again. it was charging fine, when it was up to 90% removed it from the cradle and again was droping fast.
When it was down to around 25-30% of the battery I did a soft reset and since then I can never get it to start again also the red charging light does not show.
What the heck is wrong with it? I also get a light burning smell from the bottom of the wizard where the connector is located.
Any help?
I need your lights guys.
Don't like the sound of the light burning smell, that sounds like an electrical fault. It looks like your battery has died and the wizard battery setup is well known to do this. You need to plug it into the official mains charger (not the usb one) as this has an output of 1A, enough to kick start the wizard battery into life and start the charging. You need to wait a short while though before the light comes on. If this fails try to get a new battery and try that. Any more light burning smells and it needs to go back to the supplier.
I would suggest that you send it back to replace/repair. The rapid dropping of the battery power suggest that it is using power somewhere (illegally). I've heard cases of battery caught on fire, etc. and I won't suggest you to use it anymore until you sort out the 'burning' smell.
First of all thanks for your replys.
I pluged the charger on it and the red charging light came on after a while.
charged for over 6 hours and its still red? I think after been charged should change to green? right?
anyways after all that still doesnt want to turn on. I got it to start a couple of times but only to the point that shows the splash screen with the rom numbers and then it turns back off.
Should I give it a smash across the room on the wall? done that with some other things and worked just kiding.
Forgot to add that up to the point when i did the soft reset the device was working fine except the charge drop. Soft reset was done while it was working ( turned on)..... if thats any help.

That ain't gonna do jack sh1t to it. If it can't start to get into bootloader, it can't flash....and it's not a flash issue.
Usually the red light means power but not charging - happens to my qtek 9100 when I let it get too flat and I have to remove and insert the battery while the mains adaptor is attached - others have to 'jump start' the battery by directly connecting to a PSU - I wouldn't do this with yours.
From what you have said it sounds like a short somewhere. Any signs of water damage? Warranty? What Wizard do you have and what country are you in?
Richard
I got the wiza 200 O2 xda mini S from a guy in UK from ebay. The idiot sold me a cradle for it with an adaptor that says 12V on it (Like an idiot that I am i just noticed that) but then again how am I supposed to think that he gave me an adaptor that its not made for it when it says on the back of it "for Imate - Kjam". Do you guys think thats what burned the **** out of the unit ?
dont forget that some times turns on shows the ROMS numbers and turns off.
No water damage... I think its on warranty... I live in Greece.
Might not be the cradle - it could be it steps down internally to 5v. Use a meter and check what it outputs to the phone. Warranty with XDA's are 2 years to the *original* purchaser. As they are only supplied with an airtime agreement then that isn't you.
Richard
have you tried changing batteries to a new one? Seriously, thats the easiest thing you could do right now and you could actually get results.
Ok this is what I did.
Removed the baterry from the device,
got a 12V 1 Amp power supply that I had lying around and give it a few shots connecting it to the battery giving it an electro shock.
(If you're going to try this be very carefull.<<<< DONT LEAVE the power supply connected to the battery>>>> just give it a few shots 1 second on and off.
That was it.
It started working, device turned on and now its charging (I think) yellow light is on.
I'm going to leave it on for a few hours and see what happens.
Wish me good luck. I'll let you know soon.
ok... this is what happend.
Battery is drained and its not charging due to a blown fust on the main board.
I open the phone and placed and solder a little wire over the fuse.
Still does not charge. ^%$#%$#$^%$*
Before I replaced the fuse or should i say short it the yellow light would come on for a few min and then red again. Now when I charge the battery with another external power supply the pda comes on for a few mins and then dies again. ( no charging light whatsoever).
Does anyone know where to get a mainboard for it and about how much it costs?
Asking for help again.

Hey man, sorry to hear about that.
The best you can do is to claim your money from ebay.
You probably killed it when you pluged in the 12V PSU. That's 230% of the normal Volts! Otherwise sell it for parts.
I'm in the process of claiming the money back from the IDIOT that sold it to me.
Lets see if that part of Ebay works as good.

Not a good idea IMO as now the blame is on you as previously he may have been able to get warranty service from the original vendor.
Richard
I did ask.
He is not the original buyer.
what was I suposed to do.... track back 2-3 buyers to find the original... send it to him so he can have it repaired? Anyway it was out of warranty because of the burned fuse that says that some other charger was used with it.
I had a similar thing happen but fortunately not as bad as yours. Twice now my battery has mysteriously drained completely. The last time when I tried to turn the unit on, it flashed the boot screen for a couple of seconds then poof, no more juice. When I plugged it into the USB port, nothing, no lights, no charge, no recognition from Activesync, I thought the unit was fried. I use Tmobile and got to admit they did send me a replacement fairly quickly. Before I packed up my unit I thought maybe I should plug it in using the wall charger and presto, it came on and is working fine. I have no idea what causes this but do know that if the battery is completely discharged the USB port can not over come this to put a charge on.
Same thing happened to me, kind of strange though. The charge was perhaps 70% to the best of my knowledge. I flashed it with Mr. Clean ROM and booted it up.. it came in fine into WM5, then it started the installation of the 3 progs or whatever comes with Mr. Clean.. after the second finished the unit just died *poff*. Screen blank, no responce to power buttons or any other buttons for that matter.
I've tried taking out the battery for different intervals of time, no luck. I've tried using the AC charger, no luck. No lights, sounds, telepathy or matrix ****.. it just lies there like a dummy phone.. hmm what to do. Bought it from a guy in UK (im in sweden) on eBay, don't think I will have much luck there.. even though it's brand new...
Any thouhgts?
I have had this problem - I bought a replacement battery and all is now fine. Another thread in this group states that the battery cannot charge without the OS up - so if the battery is completely discharged then it is impossible to charge through the phone. The only solution seems to be somehow to charge the battery directly - as appears to have been done earlier in this thread.

p.s. if anyone knows of another way to do it I'd be interested to hear as I'd like to revive my old battery and keep it as a spare

Wizard wont show charge.... Help

After 2 oem batteries and 2 extended batteries, Im very confused as to whats going on. It will turn on fine, and it will even charge the battery, but once it hits 100% the wizard will restart and it will show battery level as zero and shutdown. I thought mabey it wasnt charging but it will let me install roms and i can restart it as much as i want. Thanks for looking!!!!
One thing i forgot...
I can also get it running by running wires from it to another phone battery ( i was trying to use it to replace my blackjack2) and by taking the 3.3volt power adapter route, i can even get it to start charging. but it will either cut off at 99% and reboot saying dead battery or take the battery out adn put it in to get 0%.
Update.... Not that anyone is reading lol
Ok, Ive made a little more progress today. Using sketchy methods, 3.3v adapter wires between phone and battery, i got it to charge whil on usb with computer to 100% today without shutting off ( a first since before flashed). Once I removed it from usb thou, the battery bar went immediatly down to 50%. I charged it to 100% percent again, but once i dosconected it, the battery level would decrese almost as if the gague were a countdown clock. I tried doing the powersave registry edit posted in these forums, but the phone showed 0% charger after the soft reset and promptly died again.... I just put in the other extended battery i pulled from a nap in the freezer, and if i ever find a solution i will post it... thanks to whoever is looking for looking!!!

Another update...
Ok. Still freezing battery and such. But today i finally got around to dissasembly and everything on the inside seemed fine to the unexperienced eye. the water sticker was ok, no clearly visable burn marks. It was a little dirty, but nothing that should cause this type of error. I did notice some weird things, but im not sure if thats just wizard guts or if its something to be concerned about. Hopefull I'll be able to get some guidance on this, i really hate missing calls on Crapjack2
This is getting expensive.....
So, I bought a battery charger and after rigging it with some wire to charge my extended battery(s), it shows the battery being charged and will run like normall... except i cant charge the batteries in phone..... so yeah... Im waiting on an oem wall charger in the mail, but im still open to the fried main board. I just need to know a little more before i start spending more money lol
edit: oh also, im only really charging it by usb whenever i attempt at internally charging the battery. Occasionally i borrow my cousin's kaiser wall charger, but i dont have mine yet

X10a wont turn on !

MY phone died the other night and wouldn't charge. It blinks red when plugged in and will blink numerous times when you press power. Sometime when its plugged in and i press power it will only blink red once.
Its rooted with 024. Im screwed eh?
Also im with Rogers in Canada
I vaguely remember having this sort of problem before.
What was happening was the cable wasn't working properly for some reason, and my phone wasn't drawing enough power to charge. Therefore it not working, and the red flashing light. It wasn't actually charging.
Is it plugged in to charge via AC or USB? It might not be drawing enough power if it is charging through USB.
If it is charging though AC, have you left it to charge overnight? If a Li-ion battery enters a state of deep discharge, it may take a while for it to charge enough for the phone to be able to power on. This shouldn't be the case though, the battery should have failsafes to prevent this from happening.
If neither of these things do anything, I'd try either swapping the wall adaptor and/or the usb cable or the phone battery itself, and if those things work, you're out of luck.
Hope that helps.
Have tried two wall chargers different outlet and my two pcs. left it overnight twice. Im screwed lol

Tell Rogers that one of their Sales Reps burnt the phone while trying to show you how to charge it
Im going to take it back to walmart it is only 3 week old
I had the same issue with mine... it completely died out and would not start charging. Found it weird the phone couldn't be charged while being powered off (my old KRZR could do it)....
Anyway, I called up Rogers and told them the situation and they exchanged it with a new one. I don't let the phone go below 5% now in fear of it not being able to charge if it the battery is completely drained XD
was your phone rooted?
No... it was on the original firmware and all...
For some reason I forgot you rooted it when you replied. Rogers might not want to exchange it... Wal-Mart on the other hand will probably not even look at it and just exchange it.
Other option could be to buy a new battery?
it actually looks as if the usb port itself is chipped.
ok, i had the same problem with my old SE phones.
everytime i tried to charge it, it did not charge. other phones were charging thru same cable.
the problem in the OS.
what i did is upgraded thru SEUS.
try to plug it to PC thru USB cable without battery. then go thru procedure as u would go for upgrade and then put the battery back.
it might not work if your battery complitely dead, thought worth a try
Yea, cant connect to seus
your batter yshould be fine. it's just dead.
dont buy any battery just yet. i would replace the phone if i were u. without spending extra bucks.
this is the quickets solution i can think of.
however, for the future reference i will buy me extra battery just in case
good luck
Just had it turn on and it said less than 2% remaining connect to charger. It was connected. This happened before and it just shuts off.
yeah mine would open from time to time but instantly shut down also. Seems like it didn't have enough time to detect it was plugged in...
try returning it
This may sound weird but it worked for me. Try taking out the memory card and leave it out and plugging it in.
Yea. I tried every combination. Brought it to walmart qndvthey gave me a new one. 30 day replacment woo. Im nervous to root now

same problem... no solution ?
Hi, I'm new to the forum and I found this topic is describing the same problem I have. I bought an x10 mini pro (U20a) unlocked and it doesnt turn on with my service provider SIM, but if I try another service provider SIM card or without SIM card, it turns on normally. It's the same behavior, cause it wont charge either. Other users are reporting the same problem in SE support forums and it is related to X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro. It seems to be related to software since a factory reset or a repair using PC Companion solves the problem partially, but for some users the problem starts again when their batteries dries out and want to charge their phones. In case anyone find a solution that really works, please post it here.

I'm disappointed because I have the exact same problem, but I'm outside of AT&T's 30-day return period (and they're being typical idiots about the issue). They have no replacement batteries (of course) so I've had to request one directly from SonyEricsson, which will take 5 business days to deliver. (!) Hopefully, this will resolve the issue; however, before you returned your phone to Walmart, I noticed that you thought you had a problem with a chipped mini-USB port. Do you know if that was part of the problem?

[Q] Cant boot. Battery wont charge?

hey guys.
charged battery at night used it at work all day came home around 10 and battery was on 1%..went upstairs to charge but phone but was dead. when plugged into wall phone boots for 2 sec then turns off and boots again for 2sec....constantly looping like this? im pretty sure i just need enough charge so that i can boot into android and ill be sweet. but doesn't even get half way there!?
need help. cant charge.
im leaving the battery out for the night and im gonna try again tomorrow but any suggestions would be great!
thanks
Not sure but you can try this: hold down power button till mgldr menu comes. Stay in mgldr menu for some time and get some charge, then reboot.

Phone will not charge on magldr screen. Android needs to be booted to charge.
Get old USB cable, mini or micro, cut end off, bare red and black, take battery, connect red to + and black to - ,plug into wall charger and hold wires on battery for a minute or so, reinsert battery, should be charged enough to get far enough into booting to start charging.
First.. i had the same problem.
it have to charge while off.
before you cut off things, check the batterypins. one of them was broken on my HD2 (i saw one of them below my battery).
if so, try to hold that broken pin back while insert the battery and try again.
you could also buy a dockingstation (something like that: http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon®-Premi...P2YS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1313518480&sr=8-4) to charge batterys.
I had the same problem once, I`m not 100% sure how i solved it but I think that I pluged it in that it started booting and removed then the battery. I think it doesnt start automatically if you reinsert the battery then... but I´m not sure about it...

thats correct, but relies on the bootloader being able to charge when off, so this method of fixing the discharged battery problem only works with winmo or cLK
Your right i had that Problem in the time i was running it with winmob andere haret

Charge while in bootloader or hard reset screen, it should charge from there.
However, the charging process using the aforementioned methods is kind of slow.
hey guys. thanks for your responses. i have left it overnight and it doesnt get to the 1234 bit. i have 3-4 cords so i cut one up however it has blue, red, white and green cords....whats positive and whats negative?
also my pins are fine.
this is killing me!
Thank you to samsamuel, i ended up cutting my old cable. connected the red cable to + and the white cable to - and left it for a hour. just booted my phone back up and got 1000 msgs and emails lol and im on 84% battery.
thanks again to everyone how posted!
much appreciated!
Good to hear,, for anyone else thinking of trying it, an hour is pushing it a bit, you are running the risk of damaging the battery since the charge control circuits aren't being used.
What Android build is this? I remember having a build once that required a special key combination to charge the phone up. I think it required you to hold the volume down and power while plugged in to the charger and it could charge from there. I don't remember exactly though.

Nothing to do with the build,,, if you have magldr installed the phone must be on and booted into android to charge.

EDIT: I realize now that it must have been something else, can't charge in HSPL or MAGLDR (duh). I have no recollection of what though (if anybody knows, let me know because it's driving me nuts now!)
OP, you do also realize that instead of cutting up wires you could get an external charger for your battery and just charge the battery alone, right? If you've wanted to buy one of those fancy desk docks you could get one that also charges a battery behind the phone

HD2 dead !!

Hey folks, i have a HD2 which isn't turning on. I received a call and it just switched off. Now there is no activity in it at all. No led when connected to a charger. I had MIUI installed on the phone.
The repair people say that the motherboard needs to be replaced which would cost approx 12000INR.
Any way i could revive it back?
Please suggest. Thank you!

You can try the the freezer trick, put the device in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then see if you can turn it on or charge it. You can also take a old USB cable and cut the mico USB end off and strip the wires back then touch the read to the + on the battery and the black to the - on the battery for a minute or two and then try to boot the device. I sorta souds like you were using MAGLDR and the battery died. You can not charge the device while it is off with MAGLDR. So I would try charging the battery first.
Thank you for replying. You're right i was using Magdlr. I'll try what you said

I've got the exact sam prob, the HD2 was using MAGLDR, and now it won't start (except for a few times it did), but I honestly can't figure how - since once it had been charged on an external batery charger, and then it turned on and worked for a while, but now it won't work with a charged battery...because I tried using it with another HD2 phone's battery which also has MAGLDR and which works (even with my phone's battery).
The pins have been changed, and it worked then also for a while I've been said, but it's not working again now.
Any help please?
TIA
P.S. I've tried ziplock...15min...nothing :/ How to try the USB? Which wires should I connect to which pins please?

or mini usb, or even an old usb printer cable, with the chunky end, , it doesn't matter which type.
Thanks samsamuel,
Seen the +/- signs on the back of the battery late, after having meassured the voltage, which is 4.14V (should I do the USB charge then even and how long is it safe since my battery powers up another HD2)?
TIA
if teh battery works in another device, then no, theres no point, its not that.
4.14 is fine, i think it goes up to about 4.2/4.3 when full, drops to the low 3.x when drained.
If the freezer trick didn't help either, then its gotta be either hardware, or something totally catastrophic, so if its an option for you, id try JTAG, failing that, id be considering using it for parts, , buying one with a cracked screen perhaps, and swapping your screen into it, ,
dont take my word for it, though, read learn and try things, you never know.
