As far as I'm aware, Verizon phones are not "locked" per se. They are CDMA devices, so do not use a SIM card, and their ESN number must be registered on the carriers network in order to work.
So, to get a Verizon Tab to work on another CDMA network, you'd need to ask the new carrier to register the device's ESN on their network. Often this is much easier said than done, since some carriers (notably Verizon I'm told) do not like to register "foreign" devices on their networks.
I've no idea which carrier you want to use a Tab on, but if it's not a CDMA network, the Verizon Tab is of no use to you.

ATT 8528 on Verizon

Hi All,
I was wondering if I could use my unlocked 8525 with Verizon's net work if I switched to them? I'm not sure about compatability of the phone with Verizon's voice and data services and was wondering if anyone knew.
Thanks
I dont think so. Att and verizon use two different technologies. Att uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. Im almost certain tho a phone that is based on GSM cannot be used on a CDMA network. The phone will work on TMobile or USCellular. They use a GSM based technology. Verizon Sprint and Nextel all use CDMA. If i am wrong and you can use the GSM based phone with Verizon CDMA then someone please correct me. But i am pretty certain you cannot.
OK,thanks. Thats what I thought
Verizon does not have sim cards, is that correct?

Not that I've ever seen.
I know sprint phones have sim card slots, but they are not used, at least in the USA.
My guess is that CDMA phones can be used in the same way as GSM phones as far as switching sims to use different carriers, but the CDMA carriers in the 'states don't use that functionality (probably to keep a tighter grip on their sucke....customers and wring more money from them through phone sales/upgrades and extra services, like a data service to put on extra ring tones )
I know that I don't know much about these phones, but what of the setting inside of Settings/Personal/Phone/Band where you can select WCDMA as your network type? I've got an 8525 and it shows as an option, but I just don't know if anyone's tried it before.
CDMA and GSM phones are totally different. The only SIM based verizon phone that Ive seen its the Blackberry 8300 its world edition soo it can bu used through a cdma and also a GSM carrier. I would be interested if anyone knows how to say make a sprint phone capable of being on verizons network. That would be something different.
actually a sprint phone is capable of being used on verison network any cdma phone is. in short the way cdma works the subscriber info is assigned to the phone's esn by the carrier so only the carrier can change your phone with gsm the sim (Subscriber Identity Module) holds the subscriber info and it is assigned to a sim card id not a esn (electronic serial number) so all you have to do to get a sprint phone to work for verizon is get verizon to let it (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT) you would have better luck the other way around verizon is the pickiest co out there when it comes to network integrity and security issues they seem to think that letting people use any phone they want could somehow hurt their network

WCDMA is 3G. 3G on GSM systems is essentially a CDMA standard, but not the same CDMA as Verizon uses. It is not compatible.

Call VZW and ask.
On ebay it's a ton of services about whitestone unlock, and my problem was an issue on the operating band of GSM for example in the USA you must use 950/1900 on other countries like Costa Rica you need 1800, thanks to all for your help
You should be able to contact VZW and have them unlock it so you can use whatever carrier SIM you have for the country/area you are in. The stock SIM is Vodaphone and I think will only work where Vodaphone service exists. Otherwise make sure the phone is in Global and not CDMA only. Go to the Settings Tab, click Menu then select Phone Network Mode select Network tab.
I called verizon and they gave me codes to unlock both my phones. I slapped an ATT sim into my imagio and it was working on the ATT network, no problem at all.
Hi, where do you enter the sim unlock code on Imagio?
Thanks.

I just got off the phone with Verizon in regard to this.
Below is what I found. The Global Verizon Rep will be happier if you enter the code while you are on the phone with them; they want to verify that it works. It actually took about 10 minutes.
Here is what I found: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/htc-imagio/138569-how-unlock-verizon-imagio-sim-card.html
If you are going to be traveling abroad or simply want your Imagio to be unlocked its very easy to do and should only take about 3-5 minutes on the phone with Verizon.
Call 1(800)-711-8300 from a different phone, enter your Verizon phone number, then select option 2.
Tell them that you will be traveling abroad and plan to just buy a pre-paid SIM card when you get there, and that you simply need the unlock code for your phone. They will check your account standings, and then give you an 8 digit code.
You need to enter the code in the security section of your phone.
With TF3D...
Start>Settings> All Settings> Personal> Security
Without TF3D Enabled...
Start> Settings> Personal> Security
One you do this, soft reset your phone and you are all done. I can take my work phones SIM card (AT&T), put it in my Imagio, and use my Imagio for work now. I did not test the data yet because I do not have data on my AT&T plan. Although if anyone does this and wants to check it, keep in mind you will have to change the number for the data line. both Sprint and Verizon use #777. I am not sure what AT&T or TMobile use.
I have an Imagio from VERIZON.
I had unlocked the GSM network, Should I Unlock the CDMA network as well if I want to use the CDMA Net work?
or I jus need 1 unlock code for both GSM and CDMA?
So, I will have 2 no. in 1 phone one is injected, and another one is using sim card.

Question to those who have their S4 _successfully_ unlocked by Sprint

Did you received any sort of OTA when Sprint unlocked your phone?
Currently Sprint claims that they just mark the phone as unlocked in their DB and then you need to restart it.
It clearly doesn't work for many, the phone still shows "Invalid SIM" message and the consensus is that this is not normal and the phone is not unlocked.
So the question for those who have their phones _successfully_ unlocked, was there anything in addition to Sprint saying that they unlocked your phone?
when sprint unlocked my phone? I don't follow?

You call them (or chat) and ask to unlock the phone to be used with 3rd party GSM carriers. That's what I meant.

I don't know if my phone has been successfully unlocked - but I can swap in a US T-mo Sim and it doesn't show an Invalid SIM message on my phone.
I only got an Email from InternationalDeviceUnlock <[email protected]> with the following message
Hello xxxxx xxxxxx
This email is intended to confirm that Sprint has successfully unlocked your Samsung Galaxy s4 Device. Please follow the steps below to unlock the device after you have the third party SIM:
Turn off device > Insert 3rd party SIM > go to Settings > More (tab) > System Update > UICC unlock. You will receive the update and it should change to GSM Mode.
Phone number: xxxxxxxxxx

it wont work on tmobile
tmobile is on different bandwidths when they say unlock they mean international not any us carriers and even if it did work you would only get edge no 3g or lte

no, tmobile and att bands are supported by the hardware.. but are blocked by samsung/sprint regardless of unlocked sim status. if we can unblock it 3G would also be supported. WCDMA band support on the Sprint GS4 includes 850mhz and 1900mhz... so that means 3G works just about everywhere for ATT... and Tmobile would have no AWS band support but would have 3G in areas where Tmobile has refarmed 1900mhz.
Again.. the hardware itself supports these bands... its just an extra block thats stopping us. I am working on the unblock for ATT/Tmobile.
And to the OP @obender, @jj14's post show exactly what Sprint sends when the device is unlocked. Other than that... go thru the steps and that's that. As jj14 also states.. he can pop in a tmo sim and gets no error... proving he is truly unlocked.

I had my phone unlocked, and I did the above as per the email I received. However it just said that the profile had been successfully updated, which was the same thing it said before it was supposedly unlocked when I pressed UICC unlock. It also didn't change to GSM mode automatically. So I wasn't really sure it had worked, but I was able to put in the AT&T SIM from my Nexus 7 and I didn't get an invalid SIM error.
When I went to Costa Rica, I was successfully able to use my phone with a prepaid SIM (GSM and HSPA/WCDMA). That said, I had to go into the Testing menu and force it to use only WCDMA, otherwise it would only use GSM/EDGE (even selecting WCDMA preferred didn't work... it would switch back to GSM pretty quickly). I also had to make a build.prop edit to be able to add an APN to use data. So you basically need root if you want to use data.

You seem to be digging in the unlock for the S4, but are you just working on domestic, or also international unlock. Have anyone tried pulling all the nv items before and after the unlock?

I just recently got my S4 from sprint I had them unlock it for international use all the available networks now show up, but in regards to invalid sim msg I will not know till the end of September when i am out of country. and on a side note if you call Sprint before you own the phone for less than 90 days you have to go through a lot of loops but they will unlock it for international use. out side of that I am unsure as too how far the unlock actually goes.
will keep you updated as to my findings I will be trying a different sim card while over there

Verizon Moto g4 unlocked by Verizon

Has anyone who bought the g4 play Verizon version noticed the unlock policy says either use the phone for one year or make $75 in payments? I'm wondering if Verizon actually unlocks the device will it enable the 3g bands they are there but they're blocked. Has anyone actually had Verizon unlock this device?
How do you know that the 3G HSPA+ bands are present? The specs I've seen only list quad-band GSM, dual-band CDMA, and LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 13.
Ohk I got my Moto g4 unlocked and I actually got it to dial out the problem is I think because my phone is still on it kept taking me to Verizon my service was T-cdma and I couldn't find where I could input APN settings

I got the code from Verizon all u have to do is make $75 in payments and they'll unlock it but I tried it with at&t and T-Mobile and with at&t u don't get the same options as u do with T-Mobile so if it was gonna work T-Mobile would be the best bet to try

I notice that you have advanced 4g lte.
When I tried to get that option through Verizon they told me it was not available on this phone.
Obviously the phone is capable of this feature.
Did you get advanced 4g lte after unlocking it with the code on Verizon or because you are using a T-Mobile sim?

Okay, so the phone has the capability but only through T-Mobile it seems.
Verizon and AT&T must have some sort of block on their network so the feature can't be used on the xt1609. Why, idk.
Makes no sense to me.
In order to be able to dial out you have to change the CDMA Subscription to NV if not you'll get "sim error or no sim" but the calls are still over 1x. Also for whatever reason different sims make the phone act differently. At&t sims only give u an option for APN, if you use a T-Mobile sim long as you change the network mode from LTE to 3g or 2g you get options to change cmda subscription, APN, advanced 4glte, search for networks etc. My network was always T-Cdma on T-Mobile long as I changed to NV while on at&t no signal pops in at all

I'm gonna try again once my month is up if I'm not mistaken CDMA is programmed in the phone so that could be a reason I'm having trouble but I also thought that if I remove the sim the CDMA portion would still work which is not the case but either way all my calls are routed to Verizon

Have you ever tried the method which worked with the prepaid Verizon Moto E phone https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...-to-verizon-moto-e-2015-gsm-network-t3098953?
I haven't tried it but I think I read somewhere that it didn't work as a matter of fact it doesn't work

SM-935U doesn't work woht Verizom mvno

I have a SM-935 U device and have been using on the AT&T network. I recently switched to Verizon MVNO (US Mobile). The phone doesn't get registered on the Verizon network. I bought the unlocked S7 edge from best buy thinking that it will work on all carriers. Any help will be appreciated.
The SM-935U do work on all carriers. I have a SM-935V with U firmware on it. I'm with a Verizon MVNO named Total Wireless. Sounds like the phone you go from Best Buy is stilled registered under AT&T...
Not getting registered to Verizon network
When I check the IMEI of my phone against the Verizon compatibility check using their web site, it is fully compatible. The issue is that phone is not getting registered to the Verizon network. I think Verizon is blocking it some how and the MVNO is not able to help me to resolve this.
You ever figure out a solution out to this?

The LTE should work fine, but youll have to set the APN correctly, otherwise it wont get any data, for the CDMA portion youll have to submit the ESN to Verizon to add your ESN IMEI to their database.
