[Q] What is the best froyo rom for the HD2? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

This may be a noob question but i am going to pick up a tmous HD2 today off CL and looking to see what is the best froyo rom for it. Theres so many different roms i don't know where to begin. I also have the t-zones 5.99 unlimited web (i hope it works on 3g!
Is everything working 100% in your rom?
Any problems whatsoever?
i read about dark stone, seems to be the most popular.
Let me know what you think!

My Own Testing on all these roms...

Ever since i got my hands on an Android i been testing like crazy looking for that perfect rom. Not until recently cyanogens roms were a nightmare for me. Btw, i have a mytouch 3G black T-mobile USA version. I have it loaded with the RAv1.4 or is it RAv1.2, anyway the cyanogen and many other roms ( i suspect its the SPL) have a screen lit problem. after i put the phone to sleep, when it wakes up it has the big black blur. Cyanogen recently fixed it! and his roms have been awesome until the last release. No more tethering, no more apps like that one fabolous task killer app with the blue icon. Once again im sure there is good reasoning..
I dont need smart ass replies or answers to anything i read above. this thread is for others like me that just want to kno which rom is awesome for their phone. like me, they dont want to click thru every single release thread with 10,000 pages. lets get it started with one that im loving!
1) RaiderX303 Micro Hero v2.0
Everything is FAST AND SMOOTH
No "extra" apps included
Market doesnt seem to work ( i only tried to dl astrid..not dling)
SO FAST its worth it for me to use for a few days even week(s).
and i mean fast as most hero apps i uninstall in a hour.
I will update this thread as i go
NOTE: writing this was purely out of my boredom/lunch break. i do not attempt to put in an extra effort to get things right like that name of the blue app that kills my tasks(damn what is it calllledd) . im simply venting/commenting on roms i try out as im a rom fiend just like linux distros. so if your using the same phone as iam ...come back
update
Market does work just not astrid.
Found wifi tethering on market.
I'm sorry, but what's the meaning of this thread?
my own thread logging up which rom i tried and liked/ what didnt work. is this a problem? or am i suppose to go to every roms own thread to post my opinion?

Yes you should post your opinion in each thread. This has nothing to do with development. At the very least post this in general.
thanks for the right "direction"
mods is it possible to move this to general? thanks

Lil Lost, Where to start with HD2 and Rom, Hard SPL? (New TMO)

Hey all, just checked the stickies and wiki 1st as since I just got the new Tmobile USA HD2 I want to see what is the best path to go.
I checked 1st for the hard spl, but says 1024 rom from tmobile not supported? Im assuming that means mine? Since the flash size is 1024. Am I correct?
Basically I am curious. The custom roms, do they have all the features tmobile gave it? Mobitv, Blockbuster, GPS map etc.
Mainly I wouldnt mind trying to get Linux on here, Android or a better Windows mobile rom.
Im used to which builds I like from other htc phones.. but everytime I get a new one Its ton of reading for me. Issue tho in this case, I dont know if there is a hardspl or cid unlock yet. So dont wanna go in guns blazing and trying things.
Anyone have any info for me on whats up or where to start? Or IS there even a start for the tmobile one yet? I was so excited about it I had to get it at launch. =D
Also can these things Dual Boot? =) Thanks for any info, didnt see these covered on the sticky yet, so thats why im asking.
SPL - 2.08 is my spl for it.
grats on your lovely new toy, but no hspl for it yet. You will have to wait!
yes they can dual boot, but no android for a while.
many of the roms will have the same things as yours, there is no compatibility problems, you just can't flash yet.
just get to know your phone, and by the time hspl1024 is ready you'll be in a great position to tweak to your hearts content.
I do have one question. I KNOW my G1 just got crippled when they switched my data to the smartphone package. I just changed back to have the adroid one. Now I KNOW Iphones can use the internet2.voicestream setting from a G1 plan.
Anyone know what internet features youd LOSE by using a Android plan on the HD2? If any? I dont like the idea of switching back and forth data plans basically heh.
Arg now im more confused.. On the T-Mobile website it says this. 512MB ROM, 1GB RAM, So is that not hardspl? Or is that still a 1024 rom? Im confused..

No real correct answer, depends what you mean by good. Some prefer close to stock ROMS but with newer updates, messaging clients, tweaks, that kind of thing.
Others prefer eye candy, skinned diallers, graphics, icons etc.
Once you have HSPL on your HD2, flashing ROMS is fairly basic so the ideal is you test the ROMS out for your self. You'll find that you can be flashing a new ROM everyweek and even when you find one you like, newer updates are released all the time so it will never stop
Many of the ROMs posted here include the wifi hotspot functionality, so you may be able to 'kill' two birds with one stone (I do not condone killing birds).
Personally, I much prefer a custom ROM over the stock ROM. The other day, I flashed the official T-Mobile 2.13 ROM, just to try it out and it was a horrendous experience. I quickly flashed a new custom ROM.

[Q] Which rom actually FULLY works?

I have yet to figure this out. There is always something wrong with all of these builds. By no means am I complaining because I couldn't do better but just want to know. As in fully I mean wifi tethering, phone speaker, camera, etc. I just want the basic froyo on my US T-Mobile. Nothing extra or fancy or without updating my radio. If I give someone my software info could they help me out? Thanks

This is the wrong section for this question. But my everyday build is mdeejays http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780525
or Coredroid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8214568&postcount=1
They both work perfectly for me.
Read this page tell all new info added to kernel, most of the roms are fully working only some of them have few issues, ave personally not had many problems
Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
mattc 1.8 with hastarin 7.1 - I can't find anything wrong in this combination, apart from the premature flash when taking photos in the dark. But everything else - is just the purest perfection
Ops and Devs - I know this thread is in the wrong place, but I would advise on letting this live, as it will prove that there is no such thing as best ROM. People will put different ROMs as their favourite - and at the end of the day I am sure that all of the variation will be mentioned at least once - hence proving the point
the annoying truth is most of the builds differ from person to person - so the best way to find out which build is best for you, well, you've just got to try it out for yourself!
if you're having problems, you may want to try changing your winmo rom, radio etc, just incase the problems that you're getting are to do with that

I couldnt agree with you more.
NONE...
Either you get music skip, rotation problems, cam not flashing correctly or wifi and 3g not working correctly, bluetooth problems and sudden freezes, all a bit like good old Windows mobile really, but its getting there...soon it will be the best Android device available
As stated already.
All builds are different, and you will need to find the one that fits you best.

[Q] HD2 Damaged - Move on or not?

My HD2 has seen better days - the screen is cracked and the micro USB port is not working. It will cost about £120 to get both issues fixed. My question is --- should I get it fixed or move to a "proper" Android phone, is the HD2 still the best there is or do other phones do Android better?

Hi - please can you create a new thread with your question as it does not relate to my original question.
In short the thread for the Android ROM you are wanting to load will have the necessary instructions for flashing it to your phone. AND spend as much time as you can reading and re-reading the variosu threads on how to do this. If you get it wrong you could permanently damage your phone. If you have any specific questions then search the forums for answers, and if you need to ask a new question please start a new thread.
Thanks

Use the search button and don't hijack other people's threads. Are you seriously that stupid?!
@OP, Sadly I would say that it's time to move on. I compared my HD2 to my friend's SGS2 and another friend's Sensation, and they are a lot better. £120 is a bit much though, I got my HD2 brand new from O2 (or rather, my Dad did, I'm only 14) for £187.
Yea I been thinking the same thing, my HD2 has seen better days (Power Button) and thinking about upgrading to the Amaze 4g, bought my wife a Sensation a few months back and its pretty cool, basically the same just a little better specs, so i think it's close to the end, at least for me, had it since launch day.

Yeah I feel the same way, but the end is near, but it will be a great back-up phone. The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is the possibility of the Galaxy Nexus coming to T-Mobile, but regardless, I will be upgrading within the month.
