Hi There,
I have an HTC HD2 T-mobile USA. I was dumb enough to flash the "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50. 07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship" into my phone and now it is dead.
I read in some previous posts that I could try to SD-card-flash the stock ROM2.13 (under 4G card, changing extensions and renaming the file, entering the Bootloader, etc.).
I could not find a "stick" post with step-by-step instructions. For instance, I need to know more on how to access the Boot-loader on the HD2
Is there anybody out there that tried this method with success? Replies to previous post are unclear on that.
Thanks
K

Can you tell me more about the Jtag process? Is it possible for me to do on my own?
Please, advise.
Thank you
K.
Honestly, not to seem like a douche...but if you bricked your HD2 by flashing an incompatible ROM, after all of the warnings and such that are everywhere about the .51 radios, I think that JTAG'ing is a little out of your range of skill. It involves takeing your device completly apart, soldering 5-ish tiny wires to tiny pads, and then reflashing the original SPL to your motherboard...not an easy task by any means. I would phone up HTC or T-Mobile and see what they say about warranty/repair.
Before you send your phone away to HTC or try to get your phone company to replace it, try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
My very first flash went badly, I think due to a bad usb cable, and this was my only way out.
If this works, you'll be stuck on the test rom, but it is fully functional and still can be customised just about as much as any cooked rom, with a little time and effort.
Best of luck!

I am new in this type of phone and I bricked it. how I flash a rom with out HSPL and the phone dont do nothing only one thing when I connect to the computer it reconize it like Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM but now I dont know what to do to fix it. I think the phone is not damage because the pc reconize it. please help me fix it if there is away to . thankyou
sounds like you have flashed an incorrect radio. Did you by any chance try and flash a non tmous stock rom? Cos thats what happens if you flash an incorrect (non tmous) stock rom because they all include a radio that WILL NEVER work on the tmous.
The phone is dead. Sorry.
the rom I flash it work with my phone because I flash it before. The problem was that I flash my phone to stock and I forgot to HSPL to flash the same rom I had. I think there is a solucion for thins because the phone is like he does't have rom install.
I'm not too knowledgeable on this, but I think you flashed a wrong SPL base or something for the ROM you used to use. Having said that, making multiple threads does not accelerate the rate at which people respond to your problem, so please stop it.
what rom did you flash?
this the rom I flash NorgzRom.2.13.1.N0R.6Z tmous. I have it install on my other HD2 right now and it work perfectly. I brick it because I flash it without HSPL. I what to know if someone know's how to fix it. thanks
Let's see if I can sort the problem out, as your grammar leaves much to be desired.
You took a phone with a custom ROM already on it, and flashed it back to the stock ROM. Which stock ROM? The thing is, depending on how/which ROM you flashed, your unlocked version of SPL 2.08 could have been replaced with the updated and locked down SPL 2.10. Attempting to flash a custom ROM would then result in what you're seeing now.
You then decided to flash NorgzRom 2.13.
The phone now does not boot or do anything except for show up on your computer when connected via USB.
Does this cover what happened?
My suggestion is to attempt a Task 29; although I highly doubt it will work.
The symptoms you are having are the same ones that manifest when a bad radio is flashed. At this point if T29 fails call T-mobile, play dumb, and get the phone taken in under warranty. Currently there is no other solution.
Best of luck

Regarding your connection to the PC:
Don't worry about the "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" message -- many phones (including the HD2) when connected to the PC identify themselves in such a way as to match this driver. So the fact that Windows is seeing the phone and trying to install this driver is a good thing. Once Windows searches Windows Update it will identify the *correct* driver (something like "HTC USB Sync" if I remember correctly) and install it.
I believe you can also install this Windows Mobile Device Center update that will allow you to skip the step of searching for drivers on Windows Update.

Ummm...what does that have to do with the fact that his phone will not boot?

Hi, I know you assured us the same rom was loadeed onto your other phone, but having just watched yor video, that is exactly what happens when you flash the wrong radio to a tmous. The phone wont turn on, nothing on screen, and when you connect to PC it shows up as qualcomm.
There are a fair number of posts with exactly this behavour, and all of them are down to the wrong radio.
It may be that it is just a coincidence and that the phone has died for some other reason, but I would guess the result is still the same - unrecoverable.
Still under warranty?
I have one question can I clone my new HD2 the one I have from the warranty with the one is damage. Our if there is a program that do this. I mean like transfer all the progaraming from the Hd2 (working) to the damage one. please if someone know's let me know. Thankyou very much!
There is nothing you can do. I know you wish there was because it is a lousy circumstance but you can't do anything once it's bricked. Get a new one if you haven't already and move on. I hate having to be so repetitive but you don't seem to understand. Plenty of people have bricked...just talk to T-mobile, act like you don't know what happened, get a new one under warranty, and move on.

I think this what happened also to my unlocked Tmobile HTC HD2. I now have a bricked phone too...
With all our experts here, is there really no way that we can fix a bricked HTC HD2 besides sending it back to T-mobile?

There is no way to undo the damage. You have to make sure you know exactly what you're doing when flashing a rom to your phone. All the experts in the world can't help you if you don't do your research first. It is your responsibility to make sure you are flashing a compatible rom or radio. I don't intend to sound harsh but you need to read, read, read then read again for good measure. Good luck and just play dumb when you contact T-Mobile.
Bricked hd2
I am kinda new to this forum. I just purchased my HD2 on June 30th and prior to that I was a Blackberry power user.
I have bricked my Blackberry devices MANY times and each time I was able to recover it so I had no fear of installing a new OS. It got so bad that every time a leaked or official OS was released for my Bold 9700 I would install it and Blackberry OS updates are released several times in a month sometimes.
But in the last couple of weeks of HD2 ownership I have "thought" about installing a cooked ROM but there is no room for error. I would hate to brick this HD2 and I just got it.
Hell.......I work in the IT field on workstations, servers......ect and I have no fear of working on those systems because I know I can recover the data and the system if need be. Since a bricked HD2 is basically a pretty paperweight I will wait until I am seriously comfortable with the process.
Until that time I'll just continue to pick up tips and tricks for this great device!

There is plenty of room for error , but the ONE thing you cannot do is flash an incompatible Radio, out of all the things you can do that is only one, the MAIN one ...
If it is a TMOUS HD2, which I assume it is you cannot flash any radio to be safe, prior to 2.08 or any radio that has x.xx.51.x in it ... Pretty much anything else you do short of a hardware failure there is a recovery option ...
so TMOUS HD2 Nothing but Official TMO ROMs or TMOUS compatible custom ROMs and TMO Compatible Radios ...
EU ROMs , may brick your device if they have a radio ..
HTC ROMs , may brick your device if they have a radio
Hey all! I'm kinda new to this windows mobile stuff also...I used to be a blackberry man, but couldn't resist the hype on the htc hd2 so i jumped on the wagon and got one. I'm paying full price ($400.00) so I am definitly afraid of doing a rom flash. After reading all the horror stories on here and seeing all the different roms out there...it's just to risky for me. The last thing I need in this economy is a $400.00 paper wieght. There has to be an easier way to do this rom stuff. Does anyone know of a rom that works for sure...or are they all problematic?

This threads from May. His phones probably been replaced...
Hi All,
i installed HSPL2 2.8.0000 i think and i installed Kumar ROM. after a week i installed non tmobile ROM and my phone is dead. it does not show the phone is charging and it does not turn on at all. i try Volume + Power and nothing happens. if i get a replacement phone from tmobile, do you guys think they can find out what went with this phone ? can they hold me any legal terms ? what worst can happen if they find out ?
thanks
I work for tmo customer care and the worst case scenario is that you'll be charged a $100 out of warranty fee as the issue was caused by human error not the manufacturer. As far as I am aware there are no legal ramifications. Just call and say your phone won't turn on and you don't know why. They will run you through all the troubleshooting, just make them understand the issue is NOT with your battery or charger as they may want to replace those first if they believe its a power issue.
quite a lot of people have returned tmous in that condition, after flashing a .51. radio, and no one has said anything about any comebacks. The only people that have been charged are those who sent it back where you CAN get into bootloader, and they left hspl visible.
In your case they wont be able to get into bootloader, so you should be fine.
thank you all.
you guys are the best...

Hi there all,
Just want to confirm one thing as I have read over 100 posts and did not find a clear answer.
So I bricked my TMOUS HTC HD2 and I Have tried all ways to get into bootloader, but no luck (v. down + power) like a million times and every time I hook the phone to the PC i get the Qualcomm Diagnostics interface 3197 com port.
These where the steps I did before it got bricked:
1- Flashed using HSPL3 to 2.08.HSPL from SPL 2.08.0000
2- To change language I Installed the following ROM (_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_ARA_1.66.415.4_Radio_Signed_15.30. 50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship)
3- Got a message that phone was successfully flashed with the new ROM.
4- Phone got shutdown and bricked/dead
These are my phone details before I did any of the above as I saved them before I did anything in case of any damage and forgot to investigate radio issues hehehehehe:
Rom Version: 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Rom Date:02/22/10
Manila Version:2.5.20121412.1
OS Version:5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
Radio Version:2.08.50.08_2
After all the posts I read, I understand that my mistake was that I flashed My tmous HD2 with a .51 radio and that's the cause for the phone to brick.
My question is:
is it possible in any way for me or a tmous service center to enter into bootloader mood using any means. if no than I'm verrrrry happy cuz they will never be able to see the HSPL I flashed.
I would appreciate your confirmation. I know you mentioned it above that they can't, but just wanted to confirm before i send it to them.
Thanks to all the help we get from everyone here. Keep up the good work

Im used to flashing XPERIA X1. I did id 100 times.
I just saved enough money to buy myself HD2 which is very expensive in Bosnia.
So i want to be very carefull with it. Im sorry for opening a new topic but try to understand me. LOL.
What is the major differences between flashing X1 (kovsimg.nbh) and HD2
Is it like XPERIA and the first flash via USB so you can later use kovsimg.nbh files on MicroSD for new ROMS.
What are the risks??
No its not too different,if I were you wouldnt think of flashing from the SD/Card, for now,its always safer to do it by active Sinc with your PC,its better to forget the Xperia and start from scratch, its very easy once you put together the bits and pieces, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks. Its always good to see non-arogant people on internet who want to help.
Android will be important part of my HD2. Having two systems on one phone is great. I used android on my X1 but versions for X1 are still far away from beeing usable for everyday work.
Main reason for flashing ROM on my NEW HD2 is becouse of special WM ROM for HD2 which enables low battery consumption for Android.
Thanks again. And if anyone have something to add...please do so.
P.S. I flashed my X1 lots of times with microSD method and i did not have a single problem. But if you say activesync method is better than i shall do it via USB.
Xperia although branded as a Sony ericsson Device is really made by HTC. (HTC Kovsky) So the flashing process is more or less identical. Flash HSPL and then your custom Roms.
OK another Questin. My X1 was without warranty.
My HD2 is Vodafone branded (no idea why), there is no vodafone in Bosnia. I have 12 months warranty not with vodapfone but with local mobile shop.
Does flashing vodafone update changes serial number or warranty
And does flashing custom ROMs changes warranty. I guess it does.
Other question...does flashing custom rom changes Serial or IMEI number???
Before it was not important to me. But now it is.
Flashing does not change imei number but I think it does void the warranty if you flash a custom spl.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I now. But in my warranty paper they is specific "serial number must not be changed"
Flashing is not changing IMEI, but is it changing SERIAL NUMBER???
Nope, flashing your phone will not change your IMIE or your phone's serial number, and even if flashing it would void your warranty, bringing it back to stock condition (just like it is now) is no harder than flashing a ROM.
So as far as warranty, not much to worry about
Like a previous poster said though, read everything
Then read it again
Then have fun flashing !!!

THX. When you say its not harder than flashing. Do you mean backing up your ROM and flashing it or flashing original ROM.
you can install back your original Stock SPL,check here for HSPL thread and look for HSPL2_Run.EXE this will restore the original SPL,after that Download your original Stock ROM fro HTC support website with your S/N and flash it from your computer by connecting through USB and active Sync, this way you are back to your stock phone.

from what i know that radio is way outdated. 2.15.50.....is a good radio that ive been using
If you can not get to the multicolor bootloader screen by holding down the volume down button wbile your HD2 is booting up then sorry to tell you, your HD2 is bricked. Only using JTAG and a RIFFBOX can save it. Or replacing the mainboard will save it.
Sorry I just reread your post you installed radio version 2.04.50.22 to your HD2. This and any radio version 2.05.50.xx were the radio ersions used in the test tom's for the TMOUS HD2 but were still used in regular HD2's so any of the radio version 2.04.50.xx or 2.05.50.xx will brick a TMOUS HD2 just like any radio version x.xx.51.xx. Sorry bit I know for sure .ow your HD2 is bricked and like I said JTAG or replace your mainboard is the only way to revive it.

First off reread my first post as I edited it. Secound you will need a HTC HD2 JTAG make sure you get tbd solderless one, and a RIFFBOX to connect to the JTAG. You will need the cables to connect the RIFFBOX to the JTAG and to your computer. You will also need a smal hex head screwdriver to take your HD2 apart with. You will have to google to find the software you need or it might come with the RIFFBOX i do not know as I have never done it and I only know the tools you need to do it. Best of luck friend.

You can order the JTAG and RIFFBOX online. here is a link to a site that has them, but I wdjibouti you the RIFFBOX will cost you.
http://www.multi-com.pl/index.php/en_US,details,id_pr,7912,menu_mode,categories.html
Tht link will take you straight to the JTAG but look around some on that site and you will find a RIFFBOX with all the cables included.
Also there is a couple of members here on XDA that can do this for you if you are willing to pay shipping and handling to send them your HD2 plus a small fee for them of course. But it is still cheaper than buying it yourself. Here are two threads you can check out.

No this will not work for you as you have a truly bricked HD2 and can not get to boorloader. A lot of people here have a missconception about what a bricked HD2 is. If you can not get to bootloader you have a bricked HD2,if you can still get to bootloader then the HD2 is not bricked. What that thread is talking about is not a truly bricked HD2, it is a HD2 that either bas a noncompatible ROM are bad a bad ROM flash.Trust me trying the steps in that thread will do you no good.

if yes, then it sounds like you killed it with an eu rom (were you trying to change the language by any chance?)
check the battery pins carefully for bent pins, but if it isnt that, if it IS a eu rom meets tmous phone brick, then only a JTAG can repair it.

Lol, shows how long it's been since I hung around these parts.

yes the phone got red end key green send key.and says t-mobile at the top.
Well if you flashed an EU ROM then you likely radio bricked it. Check for bent pins first since there's a slight chance you may have gotten lucky, but otherwise only a JTAG will fix it.
i check the battery pins ,its ok.
thank you for your help.
do you know another way to brik it up?
I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. If you're asking if there are any other ways you could have bricked then there aren't as far as I know. If you're asking if there are any other ways of fixing it then you could replace the motherboard manually.
