Verizon AKey - Touch CDMA General

I have some questions regarding Verizon's AKey. I believe my Imagio needs an akey because VZW can't authenticate it. Please only reply if you are willing to help answer my questions.
1. Do All VZW devices use an akey to authenticate the phone on the network? I thought it was for data only. Up until a week ago I didn' even know there was such a thing.
2. In the ESPT (##778 ) settings is the akey field supposed to be blank because it is on my Vogue.
3. Is it correct the akey is 26 digits?
4. Is there a way that I can extract the akey from my Vogue. CDMA workshop 2.7 was no help. I did connect it to DFS & was able to read an akey. There are four fields in the Keys section on the General Tab which are DEC, akey, SSDA, SSDB. Next to the the DEC field there is CS field (check sum) which DFS didn't read.
DEC: 20 digit numeric number.
akey: 16 digit alpha numeric number.
If I do need the akey for my imagio to work on the network then I'll have #8899 like the nice female voice says & this should hopefully resolve my issue. GSM phone are so much easier to play with, just pop in the old sim card. in teh new phone.

Get Vogue MSL like this...

download, unrar the 2 files and copy unto your vougue, run from vogue, for the input put in your ESN with the letters in capital, then the result in output is the MSL
http://rapidshare.com/files/76823976/GetSPC.rar.html

Unfortunately it didn't work on my Telus HTC Touch I was so hopeful, too.
Scratch that! It works as long as you enter the Hex value of your ESN, rather than the DEC value. Great utility!!!
Call sprint (*2), at the menu, ask for vision / data. That should get you straight to a tech, not a cust service rep. Tell them you have error 67 (vision username / password error) and error 1012 (error while provisioning vision services). They will tell you to go into the programming menu (##3282#) and then they will give you another number to enter. That is you MSL number. It is as easy as that. Seriously. I just called in on these errors ( I am actually getting these errors) and the tech walked me through what to do. In doing so, they will give you your MSL number. Try it. NOthing to loose right?

EPST on Hero

Ok, so i need to change some of the settings in EPST. Cant change a good portion of what i can see/view, yet on the Eris, there's a full working EPST and you can basicly edit anything you can see. Is there something im missing or need to do to make the values editable and or has anyone tried to use the Eris EPST on the Hero?
Thanks, in advance..
need password to edit EPST on Hero
When accessing the EPST on the Hero, I get:
1. View Mode
and
2. Edit Mode
View mode has two options:
1. User Name (Active Profile, user Name, SPI MN-HA, SPI MN-AAA, Reverse Tunnel Preferred, Home IP, Primare Home Agent, Second Hoome Agent, DSA Server URL)
and
2. Advanced [ESN(dec), MEID(hex), P_REV, SCM, Slot Mode, Slot Cycle Index, MCC, MNC, MSID, ACCOL, Vocoder, Home Orig, Roam Orig, Home Sys Reg, Foreign SID Reg, Foreign NID Reg, MN HA SPI Set, MN AAA SPI Set, Home SID/NID #1]
Edit Mode has:
A Password Protect!!! Hence the post
Anyone know the password, or how to obtain it?
That's your MSL number. There is a thread that has a step by step on how to get it. I got mine that way but don't remember at all which one is it. Search MSL number and stuff like that and you should find it.
Sprint will give u the msl number. It may be tricky. Like call up and say data isn't working and say u can't make it to a store. Something like that or just try asking for it. They may give u some kinda run around. But they can and will give it to u. I had issues with my diamond and data not working. I called up and they actually had me go into epst and gave me the password and all. I think though they had me look at it first and see if a setting had a 1 or a 0 by it and it had a 0. So then they asked me to go in and edit it and put a 1 on instead. Anyhow it went something like that. Is say to call up and ask or give them a line of **** and ill most likely get it. Good luck

[Q] ## Codes Programming

I am looking for the ## codes for the fascinate. I am sure that someone is able to find them. I have searched the web for hours and not found any that will work with the fascinate. I am only looking, because I am sure that just like my incredible I can change the IP settings and use the wifi tethering for free on the fascinate too.
I appreciate any and all help to get these codes.
Have you tried the codes that work on the international I9000, Samsung's first Galaxy S model?
Thanks for the link. I tried about half of those and none of them work. I think their must be a set of codes specific to the CDMA version.
I was able to get a few codes out of a verizon represenative, but not everything.
This code enables the ability to use the second code I got.
*#22745927
you then enter 000000 for the spc
and change to Hiddenmenu Enable and press ok.
the type **772
you then enter 000000 for the spc
This will enable you to manually program the NAM.
Now I just need the code to modify the network settings for the data portion of the phone.

[TUTORIAL] Flash Epic to Cricket.

--**Here's a method to get the Epic flashed to cricket with internet and apps***--
***Edit- I cleaned up my post and attached a good PRL to use (42700) and "ConnectBot.apk". I also believe I have MMS sorted out. I'm gonna double check everything later tonight to make sure there's no issues and I'll update my post accordingly.
---Requirements---
*Download and install Qpst. 2.7 build 355
*Download and install normal Epic 4g drivers.
*Cricket prl. (42700 PRL is what I recommend. I've attached it to my post)
*USB Cable
*Your MSL.(I attached connectbot to my post in case you need it)
_________________________
---Getting your MSL---
-If you know your MSL already you can skip this part and start at the "Getting started and setting up QPST".
1. Find and install "Connectbot" found in the market or at the bottom of my post.
2. Select the dropdown box on the bottom left that says "SSH", and choose "local". Put whatever you'd like in the nickname box and hit "enter".
3. Click on "Android".
4. Use the command "getprop ril.MSL" and hit "enter".
5. Your MSL should now be displayed.
...If that doesnt work...
1.Type "getprop" instead.
2. It should show a long list, scroll down to the section that starts with "ril".
3. You should see "ril.msl", the 6 digit MSL number will be after that.
---Getting started and setting up QPST---
1. Plug in your phone to your computer and when prompted to choose between "Charging, mass storage, or tethered modem", choose "Tethered modem", then choose "3g modem".
2. Open up QPST > "QPST Configuration". Click on the "Add new port" on the bottom right. Uncheck mark the "Show serial and USB ports only". In the box above it, you should see your phone connected and the corresponding COM port. Select it and the "Port" and "Port label" will autofill. Hit "Ok".
3. Open up QPST > Service programming. Select your phone in the "Select an active phone" box.
Click on "Read from phone" and enter your SPC when prompted.
***(Note: If you are having trouble with QPST recognizing your phone, instead of using the "Tethered modem" method when plugging in your phone, dial ##8778# and switch both the "UART" and "USB" options to "MODEM". QPST should then see your phone. Revert the "MODEM" option in the previous menu to "PDA" when done.)
---For talk/text---
1. You will first write a new prl to your phone. Cricket prl 42700 is preferred.
2. Click on the "Roam tab at the top.
3. Click on the "browse" button under "Preferred roaming" and locate the prl file you wish to write.
4. Click on "Write to phone".
5. Let QPST do it's thing and voila, your new PRL will be written to your phone.
---For internet---
1. Click the "M.IP" tab (may be "M.IPv6") and set "Mobile IP Behavior" as "MOB + Simp".
Select any profiles listed under "user profiles" and click edit. Do the following for all profiles:
Make sure that "profile enabled" is checked and enter in the following:
NAI: [email protected]
Tethered NAI: [email protected]
2. Change "home address", "primary ha", and "secondary HA" to all zeros.
3. On both "HA Shared" and "AAA Shared Secret, select the "enter text string" and type in the following password (all lower case): "cricket".
4. Click "Ok".
5. Set active user as "0".
6. Click "PPP Config".
7. Click the "Um" Button.
8. Under user ID enter: [email protected] as well as for tethered NAI. If a text box is black with red lines in it, click it and press ctrl + D. Enter "cricket" in the password box.
9.Click the "AN" Button and repeat the last step.
10. Click "write to phone"...After that, you should now have the 3g icon on your phone.
11. Last step to get internet and apps working, if you're already activated on cricket, is to call customer service and have them switch you to the 55 dollar Android plan.

*Please note: They have a 55 dollar "All-in" plan, as well as the $55 Android one. So make sure you're put on the right one. I've had most luck by asking to speak with the "Smartphone department" and then requesting them to have my equipment and plan changed.
**Thanks to anderdroid for testing Android plan with fascinate.
Hope this helps! PM me if you need a download link for QPST.
how would if you do it using QPST?
I am still waiting for mine to arrive but I always use QPST to inject to other networks and unlock the EVDO
wait for further infomation, because i want to use it in China, where the carrier situation is a little complicated.
cdma isn't carrier locked, if its the same frequency then you should se if cricket will flash it for u

Alternatively...you can install the regular Epic drivers and plug in the phone...when given the three choice prompt, choose "tethered modem"...then select 3G tether. The phone will then connect on a COM port and you can then connect to your phone using CDMA Workshop, QPST, or whichever programming tool you prefer and flash the prl that way. I'm still working on getting the data up and running.

Default 16 digit should be 01F2030F5F678FF9, give it a try. You can also use CDMA Workshop to read and change your Epic's SPC, which is the way I prefer.
So, quick question, do I need a specifically modded rom to run my Epic on Cricket, or is it that I can use any rom and then flash the phone??? I'd like to know this because I bought the phone off contract and would like to use it on Cricket. -thanks

Nope, doesn't need to be any specific rom. It can be whichever one, even the stock one.
Sick!!! this makes my life so much easier thanks!
I finally managed to write AN data parameter for EV-DO, using QPST 2.7 build 355, other version wont write the ev-do parameter. Data is ON now for my network.
This is only because my carrier using simple IP, I believe cricket is using a mobile IP, so the case might be different.
Well, I'm kinda new at this flashing business and my contract with my gsm provider has been over. I just wanted to transfer my number onto my new epic 4g on cricket but so far I haven't found a dealer who can do it, can anyone help me out, maybe post a tutorial or guide, it would be hugely appreciated

I made this in a hurry, but I believe I got everything.
**thanks to anderdroid for testing Zio plan with fascinate.
***Edit- Since I'm a new member, it wouldn't let me post the links to the downloads of Qpst and the 32100 cricket PRL. PM me if you need either.
Now if there was a way to make sprint think this was a Hero and not an Epic then we could avoid the $10 charge. That's the only real reason I have went back to the Hero.
Wow, great guide, thanks! Just a couple o more questions, sorry. Where one has to input the 10 digit cricket number it is assuming then that you have an account already and that you'll be moving to 55 dollar plan in order to achieve that change to 3g enabled correct?

No problem, but to answer your question...yes, it is assuming that. You can get your account set up first and flash the text/talk portion using the steps above and once that's done, you can get the internet set up and working...
Perfect, thanks! :]
If anyone would like screen dumps I can do this... There were a couple of steps I needed to do to connect.
Thanks for the help everyone!
EDIT:
Rock on... Got data now! I had to do this all because my wife and I are going through a divorce. I purchased the phone, but it was on her account. Well she decided to turn it off, and I remembered hearing about how everyone changed their phone over to Cricket...
The store that I started my Cricket service with gave me the all in 55 plan. Had to make a call tonight to get it changed. Nothing happened after the first call and after the second call I asked if there was anything I needed to do. He told me to dial *228 talk and then it would reboot itself. I was hesitant because I thought this might be standard operating procedure for just the Zio. I dialed it and listened to the message. Then it hung up and a pop up screen said CDMA call dropped. There was an X inside of a circle next to the signal bars. I finally rebooted it and then the data worked.
I got the MSL by using ConnectBot from the market and followed this procedure, logging in local (bottom left drop down menu), typing a random username, connecting, and using the "getprop" command.
What will we have to do to get the Froyo update though?
I need those couple extra steps to connect since I'm having trouble getting the phone recognized by QPST please
Open QPST Configuration > Ports > Add New Port (you may have to uncheck Show Serial and USB....)
If you can't locate the port based on the results then go into your Device Manager on your computer. Check under COM ports there to see what your Samsung is under. After you add this port then you should be able to use QPST Service Programmer.
Uh another cool thing is that I can use the Sprint Hotspot utility. I took the security off and it works. 3g hotspot for free and without root.

Droid2 Simple Talk and Text flash to cricket

Hey guys,
Trying to do a little contributing, thought I would let everyone know something I found with the Droid2 when trying to flash to cricket, it will help you skip allot of steps in some other tutorials..
With the droid 2 in factory default settings, meaning comepletly reset and not activated on any network yet, get past initial droid set up screen by touching the four corners of the screen, starting upper left and go clockwise..
after you are past that skip over the setup and get to your home screen, open your dialer and dial *22804 and send, this will write a cricket prl and your nam to phone..
talk and regular text will work perfectly.. on my phone it downloaded PRL 32100 on the Droid 2 which is set up in crickets system as the (Sanyo M6000), on my actual cricket android device (Sanyo M6000) it has PRL 42100.. they are both on the 60Z android plan.
why there is a difference, I do not know.. In another thread I read that with the new plan etc.. all you should need is a evdo prl to get internet working on the phone since that plan needs no proxy, so autostart.sh and u2nl is useless, but internet will not work just by doing this simple programming method.
I would love to try and pull off the 42100 prl from the cricket android and write it to the droid2 to see if it solves the inet problem, but I have no software that can do it.. my trial for cdma workshop expired a long time ago, and I dont have the 100$ to pay for a single phone flash..
If anyone knows any other program that will copy and write PRL's on droids, if you do I would be happy to post the new 42100 prl for everyone, as well as any other files from cricket android that would be of interest.
p.s. after you program with *22804 you can start using just the base *228 without a problem.. if you try just the 228 first it will just try to activate on verizon instead of cricket
p.s.s. I really hope this is the correct place to post this and its not breaking rules, I have not seen this easiest way of doing this posted anywhere yet, so I just thought I would try and share
Please tell me that this is not serious?
If you activate the ESN to your account and dial *22804 or *22809 in some markets, it will download the prl file and program the MDN, MIN, and SID.
This is way old stuff and does not work in many markets, as it does not here in Houston, TX.
Thanks for trying to be helpful. I didn't mean to clip yo nuts.
