SDcard question - G2 and Desire Z General

so if I have a class 6 or class 8 SD card would it increase the quality (fps) of my video?

Tc literally cannot read
There's a q and a sub fourm right below this one

It would not increase video quality. The only thing it would increse is app load times for apps that had been moved to the sd card.

It increases writing ability not reading.

Yeah, it writes faster. But, don't be disappointed if you record video, take pictures, transfer music, movies, or videos to the sdcard it'll write/transfer way way way faster.

Help! My picz and vidz go poof!

I was messing around with qik app trying to enable live streaming and now all my pictures and videos are gone. When I say all I mean all! Is there anything I can do about it... I've been up all night due to some very important top secret stuff I need back in my possession.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
have you checked qik?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yea... There not on my sd card at all. Nor on the qik site. Is there a way I can recover them...
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
thats a negative, if they are not on your sd card where they suppose to be, then they definitely lost for ever... sorry bud.
dont give up so quickly... before you do anything to your sd card, download "pandora recovery" its free and i have used it to successfully restore deleted items from usb/sd memory
@dr154.... Your losing the theory of having a droid... "In a world that doesn't... DROID DOES!" downloaded diskdigger 0.8. I was able to recover 89.9% of my pictures and videos. Better than "sorry bud"

Does downloading apps slow me down

And if so would apps2sd remedy the situation?
I have a class 6 sd so I'm fairly sure it can handle the speeds the phone would demand from it..
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
No. Apps2sd should be ok. Most people say you should have a class 10.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Downloading apps does not slow you down, unless they are apps that are constantly running. Whether they are on your phone or SD it doesn't matter, that's just an issue of space.

Need help retrieving a video

I took a really important 2 minute video of our kids over the long weekend with my Epic 4g. While recording, I paused the video, then exited the camera app without saving the video. I now can't find the video, and am prettty sure it is lost. But, is there ANY way I can get that video back? Any cache or anything else I can check? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! I am running SRF 1.1.1.

Sounds like it's gone...the only thing I can think of is check the LOST.DIR file in your sd card and look for a large file. If you have one, try opening it up with a video player on your computer (vlc should work)

If it was saved it would be in the dcim file on your sd card. Get astro from the market and look on your sd card for it.

ES file explorer will let you open any file as a video file. Probably the fastest way to do it.
Thank for all of the advice, but I was unable to find the video. We had some heavy storms on Friday night, and the kids were slip-n-sliding in the mud. One of those moments for the scrapbook. Oh well. Thanks again to all for offering suggestions!

I've had similar problems in finding pics I took, which I thought was lost. I think a power off and on made them show back up in gallery app.

[Guide]How to increase your SD card's reading speed

Here is the most simple way of increacing your SD card's reading speed.
To getting started, there are three different ways of doing it,first manually, second with cwm, and third with a single app. I will show you the third and easiest way,as there is a thread about the first two.
If you want to check out the first two look this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010807
Requirements : a rooted device.
The only thing you have to do is to download two apps.
First download the "SD tools" to see the scores of your SD card's speed. Well, now run it and do the test.(if you know any other apps to do the same thing tell me and I may add them all).
Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ales.veluscek.sdtools
Now download the "SD speed increase" or "SD-Booster" and open it and set the SD cache at a value.
THE RECOMMENTED VALUE IS 2048.
After rebooting your device this setting will be lost,if you don't want this to happen hit the set on boot button.
Play store Link: SD speed increase, SD-Booster
Now run the "SD tools" again, run the test one more time and see the improvement.
I have a 6 class 8gb sd card and the reading speed increased from 12.6mb/s to 17.1mb/s (see attachments)
Use at your own risk.
P.s please tell me if it worked for you and if you have any suggestion for this guide.
Thanks for reading

As I haven't develop any of this apps and i am just refering to them, I don't think is a good idea to upload them here.if someone can't access Google play, I guess if he search in Google he will find a mirror.

Great app. Just tried it. Didn't try benchmarking it as sd tools doesn't seem thae consistent. Any other app that you know of that I can use alongside sd tools to check how much of a diff it made?

No unfortunately it does not. Storage size is 16gb or 32gb. But with Cloud storage available today, its very managable... for me

No it does not but you can get it in 32GB at OPPO Style which I think solves that.
Im with corey on the Cloud storage. Instead of keeping photos and videos on your device just back them up to one of the many cloud services, google drive, dropbox, or my favorite box (got 50gb's free from them <3). Then just delete the photos/videos from your device and you will have all the room you want for movies. We also are waiting on OTG enabled in the kernel but it may be sometime for we see that. OTG would pretty much take care of all your memory issues.

only if you have unlimited data (or high limit)
according to oppo, OTG isn't supported hardware-wise at all (so any kernel fixes won't work)

With the Oppo Find 5 32 GB version, I think the cloud will get you through the same as having and SD card, that is my plan anyways there are so many cloud services that are giving out free storage. This is pretty much the best device you can buy for the price that has 32GB of storage built in. With 32 GB built in you can play all your games and apps right from the device. I had the International One X and never filed 32GB up with all my games or apps. That was one of the main attractions for me when purchasing the Oppo Find 5, because on other 16GB devices you cant play games or apps from an SD card, so really a cloud is just as good as an SD card basically, they will both do the same thing.
For some reason Google screwed their system up by not allowing programs such as apps2sd and others that do the same on Gingerbread, at least I still think Gingerbread can do this? I don't see why they did this, other than the fact that they are most likely trying push their cloud service but even with Google Cloud you cant play games or apps. You would think they would want to sell more apps and games from the play store but what happens when you only got 16GB, you can only buy so much to have on your device at once. I' thinking next year or the following year 64GB and 128GB are going to be standard with new devices having it built in 64GB and 128GB, yeah that would be really nice 128GB onboard, no SD card crap to mess with.

I don't mind the design as long as we start getting 32gb base and phones that last >12 hrs with 3 hours screen on time.
