Need help retrieving a video - Epic 4G General

I took a really important 2 minute video of our kids over the long weekend with my Epic 4g. While recording, I paused the video, then exited the camera app without saving the video. I now can't find the video, and am prettty sure it is lost. But, is there ANY way I can get that video back? Any cache or anything else I can check? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! I am running SRF 1.1.1.

Sounds like it's gone...the only thing I can think of is check the LOST.DIR file in your sd card and look for a large file. If you have one, try opening it up with a video player on your computer (vlc should work)

If it was saved it would be in the dcim file on your sd card. Get astro from the market and look on your sd card for it.

ES file explorer will let you open any file as a video file. Probably the fastest way to do it.

Thank for all of the advice, but I was unable to find the video. We had some heavy storms on Friday night, and the kids were slip-n-sliding in the mud. One of those moments for the scrapbook. Oh well. Thanks again to all for offering suggestions!

I've had similar problems in finding pics I took, which I thought was lost. I think a power off and on made them show back up in gallery app.

Help! My picz and vidz go poof!

I was messing around with qik app trying to enable live streaming and now all my pictures and videos are gone. When I say all I mean all! Is there anything I can do about it... I've been up all night due to some very important top secret stuff I need back in my possession.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
have you checked qik?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yea... There not on my sd card at all. Nor on the qik site. Is there a way I can recover them...
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
thats a negative, if they are not on your sd card where they suppose to be, then they definitely lost for ever... sorry bud.
dont give up so quickly... before you do anything to your sd card, download "pandora recovery" its free and i have used it to successfully restore deleted items from usb/sd memory
@dr154.... Your losing the theory of having a droid... "In a world that doesn't... DROID DOES!" downloaded diskdigger 0.8. I was able to recover 89.9% of my pictures and videos. Better than "sorry bud"

the only way ive seen to make the phone reread the sd card other then reboot is to change something on the sd with the myfiles app that the phone comes with... wonder if we could make an app to force a rescan of the card
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Or you could download a free app like ScanMedia that will trigger a media scan process on your SD card, no reboot required. Works great on my Fascinate
I also tried to see if there was an action that could be tied to a LauncherPro icon, but no such luck. It must be a more complicated process than that.

Gallery - Be careful.

Today, I opened gallery after a long time. It was full of all sorts of pictures! If you watch any kind of movie, gallery saves few pictures from that! I don't know how this happens, because there are no settings to avoid this.
So did you watch a p0rn clip and it shows up in Gallery? LoL
busted!

Add a blank file named .nomedia to any directory you don't want Gallery to index.
This can also speed the start-up process.

Ok It worked once I restarted my device, but is there a way to block audio form games like Gangstar and asphalt from being shown in your music app?
Is there a .noaudio file or something?
Just be glad you found it first, not your wife/girlfriend

Could be worse - i started having screenshots of asphalt 5 as my camera prieview rather than the image. It still took pictures of whatever the camera was pointing at though

What kernel?
Also, why an outdated "stable version"?
copy the contents of ur dcim folder. then delete your dcim folder. reboot phone. phone will recreate dcim folder and hopefully everything should work fine.

Why YouTube quality. Just record in the highest quality. It will still upload to YouTube just fine and will look better

Gallery thumbnails taking LOOONG time to load??

Any reason why my gallery thumbnails are taking forever to load?? I originally had pudding 4.5.91 - 2.3.4 and flashed Ninja SF 4.5 onto my phone a few hours ago. When I had pudding's 4.5.91 gallery was smooth, very fast and responsive. Now with Ninja SF, thumbnails take years to load and it is much much slower... ANy reason why this would be? I work at AT&T and showing off my gallery is something I do on a daily basis, this is extremely important for me.
Do u have them saved to internal or external memory?

I got so sick of the stock gallery app and it's thumbnail system. I froze it with TiBu and use Quickpic exclusively.
Deleted thumbnails and no fix!! Can't seem to figure out what is causing this. Any other ideas?

I have all pics on sd-ext and deleted thumbnail folder. Upon reboot same issue and thumbnail folder is completely gone didn't regenerate itself.
Sorry for double post. This is just annoying especially for my job.

when you delete thumnbeil firs start gallery maybe is slow, you test two times
Suppose I can try that because just deleted both thumbnails and rebooted no fix. The thumbnail folder recreates on the sdcard and only recreates the first 7 thumbnails in my gallery. Thumbnail folder did not recreate in sdcard-ext, this is where the pics are located.
You think opening gallery after I delete thumbnails will do trick?? Will post screenshot of gallery in a minute.

Two things. Did you have pictures on sdcard or sdcard-ext? Gallery is still extremely slow after couple reboots and deletion of thumbnail folder.

i have photo in sdcard and sdcard ext.
gallery is slow first start? if it is slow first start after delete thumbnail it ok, you attempt that gallery make new thumnbail.
if it slow at second start the problem not are thumnbail, try download alternativ gallery (gallery + market)
For thumbnails to work I have to pictures in internal sdcard and I do not want that, may try new gallery such as QuickPic. If there is a way I'd like to get them on the sdcard-ext and still be able to use stock gallery because I love the new gallery but if not I suppose I can go with QucikPic. Please let me know if any of you have a solution for fixing my thumbnails while having my pics on the external sdcard instead of internal phone storage.

maybe you sd is old and slow, it's possible?
Very possible actually. I'll get a new one today and see how that goes. Thanks for the help! Anybody know anything about fixing up battery life issues with Ninja SF 4.5 and Faux's newest OC kernel flashed over it as well as Juggernaut's battery fix mod. I had GREAT battery life before I flashed these and now I hate my battery life.
How old is old though, it's only been probably 9-10 months with the sd card??
