Gallery thumbnails taking LOOONG time to load?? - Atrix 4G General
Any reason why my gallery thumbnails are taking forever to load?? I originally had pudding 4.5.91 - 2.3.4 and flashed Ninja SF 4.5 onto my phone a few hours ago. When I had pudding's 4.5.91 gallery was smooth, very fast and responsive. Now with Ninja SF, thumbnails take years to load and it is much much slower... ANy reason why this would be? I work at AT&T and showing off my gallery is something I do on a daily basis, this is extremely important for me.
Do u have them saved to internal or external memory?

I got so sick of the stock gallery app and it's thumbnail system. I froze it with TiBu and use Quickpic exclusively.
Deleted thumbnails and no fix!! Can't seem to figure out what is causing this. Any other ideas?

I have all pics on sd-ext and deleted thumbnail folder. Upon reboot same issue and thumbnail folder is completely gone didn't regenerate itself.
Sorry for double post. This is just annoying especially for my job.

when you delete thumnbeil firs start gallery maybe is slow, you test two times
Suppose I can try that because just deleted both thumbnails and rebooted no fix. The thumbnail folder recreates on the sdcard and only recreates the first 7 thumbnails in my gallery. Thumbnail folder did not recreate in sdcard-ext, this is where the pics are located.
You think opening gallery after I delete thumbnails will do trick?? Will post screenshot of gallery in a minute.

Two things. Did you have pictures on sdcard or sdcard-ext? Gallery is still extremely slow after couple reboots and deletion of thumbnail folder.

i have photo in sdcard and sdcard ext.
gallery is slow first start? if it is slow first start after delete thumbnail it ok, you attempt that gallery make new thumnbail.
if it slow at second start the problem not are thumnbail, try download alternativ gallery (gallery + market)
For thumbnails to work I have to pictures in internal sdcard and I do not want that, may try new gallery such as QuickPic. If there is a way I'd like to get them on the sdcard-ext and still be able to use stock gallery because I love the new gallery but if not I suppose I can go with QucikPic. Please let me know if any of you have a solution for fixing my thumbnails while having my pics on the external sdcard instead of internal phone storage.

maybe you sd is old and slow, it's possible?
Very possible actually. I'll get a new one today and see how that goes. Thanks for the help! Anybody know anything about fixing up battery life issues with Ninja SF 4.5 and Faux's newest OC kernel flashed over it as well as Juggernaut's battery fix mod. I had GREAT battery life before I flashed these and now I hate my battery life.
How old is old though, it's only been probably 9-10 months with the sd card??

Gallery app never worked
Someone please help! Why doesn't any image show up at all? I've searched the forum and googled. When I go to the camera from the gallery screen an a go back to gallery after taking a pic. There is a list sdcard, camera, photo after few seconds it all disappears. It seems I am the only one with such problem. Currently I access my photos through the camera program. How can I get the gallery program to pick up my photos? Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Anyone had same issues? Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm not having the issue, but could it simply be a corrupt cache? Try removing /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media and letting it rebuild.
Thanks. Camera app reading my SDcard so I ended up just formatting my SD card and started working. Now it works. Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Click to collapse I have tried this one. Not that helpful for Arc (maybe we need more options in the slide bar?) IIRC, the write/read speed was 5/15 MB/s before I use SD speed increase. And after trying 1k,2k,3k, and 4k buffer, the read speed is about the same (4.8~5.7) and probably have a slight boost at the first second of writing. The read speed increased a bit to 17~20 MB/s.

Maybe the gallery thumbnails are bugged, causing a strange behaviour(albums appearing and dissapearing). You can erase them this way: Go to SD(with Astro or similar) - Android - Data - com.sonyericsson.gallery - delete "cache" folder. Then restart the gallery and let it load everything. I hope it helps.
The stock android gallery is pretty slow and dreadful, it used to cause my htc hero to grind to a halt, and it's still not exactly snappy on the arc. If you want a fast gallery app, try quickpic from the market.
Still got the problem... cant take screenshots on phone either so cant show how it looks. Ive put a 32gb card into the phone would that make a difference?? just took about 10 pics tonite and cant view any of them.... broken image thumbnail pic.
finally i found my solution! my scans found no media, nothing in the gallery, nothing in the music player and i was going crazy, but then i found this: If there is a (possibly empty) file named ".nomedia" (without quotations, and make sure you put the dot as the first character) in a folder of your card, then this folder WILL NOT BE SCANNED (if there is a .nomedia in the root of the SD card, then the SD card will NOT be scanned). So make sure you delete any unwanted of those and then try "Rescan Media" by Aditya Talpade (android market)
Disable Facebook inside Xperia, if you dont want to suffer from gallery load times, the gallery tries to sync a new folder called "new from friends" each time.
I didn't have a problem with the gallery till I got the 2.3.4 update. Like most, I have the same problem, it takes time to open a snap. Sometimes it's displayed as a broken image. What would be the best alternative to the stock gallery app? I've got one other problem. I had formatted my phone a month back. Before that, I backed up my photos. When I transferred them back, the order got messed up in the gallery and so are the dates. Anyway to rectify that?
Need help retrieving a video
I took a really important 2 minute video of our kids over the long weekend with my Epic 4g. While recording, I paused the video, then exited the camera app without saving the video. I now can't find the video, and am prettty sure it is lost. But, is there ANY way I can get that video back? Any cache or anything else I can check? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Help with picture storage taken with stock camera.apk.....
I am having issues with storing my pics on external sd card, i want to limit usage on my phone. I am using the stock camera app to take pics and defaulting to save them on the external sd card. The problem i have encountered twice already is that when i go to view them on the stock gallery my pics show up double, very strange, so i end up deleting the duplicates. Has anyone experienced this issue? Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium

Photo gallery album help
So I have an instagram. It automatically saves the picture to my gallery àpp whenever I post it on IG. I backed up all my photos and unrooted, and went back to stock everything. Now, I've posted something on instagram. So now I have two photos in my instagram folder in the gallery. When I save the instagram photos from the old backup into the same folder,it causes my gallery app to crash. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium

(Copy is an app. Just to clarify) I noticed if I delete the backed up pictures from the gallery after it crashes (I use es file explorer to delete the pictures because the gallery won't let me) the gallery becomes usable again. Also, other galleries like quick pic are fully usable with the new pics added Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
I would Luke to state that I've resolved the issue. The thing was that I was transferring the old IG folder onto a path on my phone then I'd move the pics manually to the folder which was already on my phone. This time,I just moved the backed up folder (with same name as the folder on my phone) and it simply merged the pics beautifully as one folder. Thanks once again.
