I am sorry if this has been answered but i am unable to find out any info about a dev porting over the mytouch slide rom to Nexus One. I hope that i am not the only one that would like this port.
Thanks for any info and sorry if i piss off anyone because its not my intention i just was unable to find any info,

Hmm, 3.5 screen.. 3.7 on the Nexus. Along with 2.1 on both devices. It could be ported, but what exactly is the screen resolution of the MyTouch Slide? If its ported but isn't 800x480 (WVGA, HDPI) (or whatever the Nexus 'supposedly' is) or somewhere close, we could be faced with weird size images and graphical issues. And of course with the fact that no one seems to know how to map the keys on the Nexus. Does Paul? Did the Desire ROM not need key mapping?
I don't know what I'm talking about anyways, but it sounds half right using common sense..

Thread killer! He's right though. I believe king was working on it at some point but the mapping is a pain. I wouldn't expect to see this anytime soon.
It's times like these i miss Eugene373. =( What ever happened to him?
Ya i miss all the older devs they had lots of drama but things got done. Thanks for the replies i guess its a lost cause. I for one do not like the look of the desire rom but find the slide rom appealing maybe what will happen is a launcher port from the slide rom to the desire rom then i would be happy.

That has already happened, just no one has released it publicly. I wish the current Sense had "themes" like Espresso, where we can change highlight colors, the general look and feel of things..

I think those look nice. if i remember correctly, there was a "theme" for one of our sense roms, just nothing that could be changed native. =P
Well crap for not releasing publicly haha kiddin. Well maybe i need to just read up on how to do it myself them.
I've made my own Sense launcher..

The more different, the better. To me at least..
See now that launcher is all that i want since the desire one is so unapealing to me. Now i guess its time for me to get to learning so i can do that. Thanks for giving me hope.
Isn't this a port from the MyTouch Slide for the N1? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=635783&highlight=espresso
I've been using HTC Sense since getting my Evo on launch day and have been loving it. However, I keep hearing about AOSP and how the much-awaited Cyanogen ROM that is in development is using it.
What are some of the key differences between both?!
someone should post a picture comparison of Sense vs AOSP so threads like these will stop being created.

It will happen no matter what..Its not like AOSP is something new. There are countless pics of AOSP on these forums already. Google pic search for AOSP and you will also find many.
You have to use a AOSP ROM to really know how much better then sense it really is. Sure you'll loose some fancy dancy widgets but I have found good replacements for all the ones I used.

Yeah, I have looked at all the pics, etc ... I will just wait for this AOSP Froyo to be released then I will see first hand
You are correct this will be asked more times than it should, but better answers help sometimes. (and it was not like this was a bad question, vs some that I have seen)
Here are some screen shots, I'll try to add more later.

It is a very different feel. I like clean/simple things (I like Apples computers and gadgets, for example) and to me AOSP has a more clean simple feel. I think Sense has a great look to it, but some of the bubbliness is tacky to me. The lock screen and rosie are nice, but most of the apps (calendar, RSS, etc.) and widgets are gaudy to me. I particularly dislike the bubble at the bottom to switch tabs thing, just ugly to me.
I also think there are some big UI mistakes in Sense. Editing a contact is confusing for instance.
However I do like the black notification bar, and I like Bugless Beast's launcher with a black google search bar.
In the end it is a matter of taste. One of the reasons I moved from my iPhone to an Android phone was to have more options in regards to this kind of stuff.
Hi,
Does any one know if there is a Sense-Froyo Rom for Nexus One?
If so is it any good / stable, if not any ideas when?
Cool thanks guys.
Yea there is one but stable not really to confident on that but modaco.com you should be able to find a sense ui rom on there

I'd rather post a quick question to people who are dealing with this frequently, than trawl the web, sift through junk and install something which has lots of bugs.
Cheer up, its not all bad.
Thanks for the link.
you'll have to forgive XDA, recently it has attracted many young people that get bullied at home and school, this is a place they can come and anonymously display their e-toughness. Just ignore them.
btw, i dont think there is a sense rom that has everything working like your stock version. i hope im wrong but i was interested in rooting to use sense, in the development section i couldnt find any that didnt have disclaimers about things that arent working, so i havent gotten to try it out yet. But again, maybe im wrong, and i hope i am.
Without a criteria of what he is looking for other than good and stable it's hard to give a good answer. It's not about e-toughness, it's about searching, putting together an informative post, and reading the forum rules.
'cymru' is 100% correct. All it took was a search and reading comments about what does and does not work, then nandroid backup and try the rom and see if it passes the "good and stable" test.

Sense UI has its bugs on the N1. I think LauncherPro is 100x better than Sense UI. It's just not as smooth (this is coming from experience using it on an Evo 4g)

I'd run a stable sense rom if there was one with Launcher Pro as my launcher... I want sense for the camera, calc, dialer, calander, emails etc. not the launcher. The applications on it are just way better quality!

Well there are some roms that have ported sense camera, and apps.
I do believe my "The Official" rom has them. It didn't come stock with the sense camera, but I had it installed (easy to do from spare parts, plus I have 720p recording).
The best you can do is look for a rom with those things ported over.

I agree with cymru, its not that hard to click one section over to development and see what's there instead of someone making a new thread everytime, and xda agrees. Not a big a deal yes, just saying I agree

Luckily i've been a member for a number of years so don't fall into this category...
If it wasn't for XDA recently attracting many young people that weren't taught at home or school in how to do something for themselves once in a while they wouldn't have to come and anonymously display their e-laziness. Just shut up.

Hi guys, if the battle for whos the cleverist is now over, heres some feed back for the advice given.
I've installed, Evils q&d sensefroyo. Been running it for a few days, its cool. A little buggy, a few force closes, high battery use, no bluetooth, but very usable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730290
Again thanks for the input, hope this helps anyone else who was looking for similar info.
Cheers.
I tried kingxclikz and Paul's r23 roms, I must say the first one is very buggy and there are no ways to use it even for 24h(though I think it needs an eclair radio),Paul's rom is way more stable but the lack of Metamorph themes, trackball mods and BT are too important.
He promised to release a new version soon so all we can do is wait and see!
Ughh. No BT on any sense ROM then?
Is anybody even working on bluetooth for Desire roms? I don't think anybody actually is. There are a few people I think might be capable like Paul but he's busy with other things now by the looks of it
Hey all. I'm new to the HD2 but not to android. I'm sure you've all seen the MIUI rom for desire and nexus. (if you haven't go here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
To clarify :"It appears that the ROM has been mostly custom built using only the base from Android 2.2 and then building an exceptional interface on top that could beat anything else that currently exists.
From full FM radio support to completely customizable home screens, dedicated buttons on the lock screen that take you to the SMS app and the phone dialer."
Since its fore the desire/nexus, It should be an easy port to the HD2, I just need halp
I'm sure most of us would love to see this implemented on the HD2. I thought I could do it myself, but I've tried and failed. Below are two links. One for the full rom and the other is a link to the system.ext2 image I made from the /system folder of the ROM. I've tried a couple of different kernel combinations and still can't get it to boot (replaced the system.ext2 in shubcraft with the one I made and it just reboots). I don't yet know enough about android on the hd2 to get this working myself. So I figured I'd start a thread and see where we can get.

Nice to hear that ! We always lack people like you, however the few Hd2 build developers have magic hands.
Maybe you already know that, but I suggest you to contact them directly for this great project because Hd2 is a very popular phone, so this forum is 99.9% populated by end-users. At the begining kernel developers tried to work into xda forums, but deserted for the Htc-linux Irc because of noise.

Hi again everyone!
This may sound like a stupid question, but I've been reading up on a lot of apps that disables the HTC Sense features (ie. Launcher Pro, Cyanogen ROM, etc).
I'm asking myself this question: What are the features of HTC Sense? What will we be missing if it's disabled? Smooth scrolling? Animations?
I read up on the HTC website but of course it's more marketing than informative *duh!*
Thanks for being patient with me

You'll get smoother animations and transitions between apps, but you can't use any HTC Sense widgets.
Thanks for the response zervic and Product F(RED)!
I just read the link that you provided. In summary, HTC Sense is just a smooth-scrolling, animated user-interface comprising of several applications & widgets for the Android, such as:
# Friend Stream
# Camera
# Gallery (Pictures)
# Calculator
# Calendar
# Desk Clock
# Contacts
# Music (player and library)
# Weather
etc.
That's it! Wonder what the big deal is…
Will anyone convince me I do not want to lose Sense at all?

The two main things that work in Sense but not in CM6/AOSP are Flash Lite and FM Radio. Flash Lite is HTC's proprietary "lite" version of Flash that will allow you to view some of the more basic types of Flash on webpages (but not things like streaming videos or music). It's kind of pointless though because that basically means the only thing you can view are Flash ads... lol. Personally I haven't missed it.
Anyway, there's no need to "convince" you. You should just do a Nandroid backup then install CM6. If you don't like it, just load the backup and you're right back where you started like nothing happened.

I have been meaning to ask this question but I don't want to open another thread so I will ask here.
I am leaning towards making the jump to CM6, but I keep seeing that it has no Flash Lite or Flash 10.
Can you elaborate on that a little more? Does that affect my web browser?
I had the Tilt and that didn't have Flash and web browsing sucked. Will I have to deal with that again? Thanks.

On Sense you can temporary disable Flash Lite through the browser settings, so if you're curious to see what it'd be like, just disable Flash Lite and see if it causes any problems for the sites you usually visit. Personally I don't think you'll miss it.
AOSP > Sense
Freedom > conformity
Sense is just HTCs way of making android their own. Using a rom without sense means you can make android your own instead of the way HTC thinks you want it. Samsung and Motorola both have their own versions as well (I'm sure others do too, but those are the only two I've others I've used. I personality prefer the extra customization you can achieve with an ASOP based rom. If that's not important then theres no reason not to stick with the stock sense ui.

Not exactly. Adobe has designed Flash for Android to rely on an instruction set that is not supported by the Aria's processor. It would still be possible for Adobe to create another version of Flash that WOULD work on Aria in the future (for the sake of expanding Flash support to more devices), although to date they haven't really given any indication that they would do that. I just wanted to point out that there is some hope still, although I wouldn't call myself optimistic.

Yes, but the Aria's processor isn't fast enough for smooth playback anyways.
I had a stock Aria with Sense for several months and loved every bit of it...then I flashed Cyongenmod and I love it even more. Somethings arent as "pretty" as with sense but you get the added benefit of making it look the way you want. The level of customization is incredible and I dont miss Sense at all.
For those that miss the Sense weather/clock on the home screen, Just Google "Fancy Widget"...its exactly the same thing but without the cool weather animation thing that you get after unlocking from the lock screen. I think it was pulled from the market, but you can still find it. I have the apk if you cant.
Just do what others have said. Nandroid back up your current ROM, flash a new one and see how you like it for a few weeks. If you dont, go back to your old ROM. Its super easy.

It's fancy widget 1.30. Don't say you're going to offer out because that's part piracy. Pointing them in the right direction isn't breaking any rules though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I tested out Sense without flash and the only site I really go to (a NBA forum) had problems because they usually post youtube videos of dunks or other plays embedded in the threads and they wouldn't show up. That sucks.
But I have seen so many really amazing customizations in the Home Screens thread that I will probably go to CM6. One more final on Monday and then I can get to messing around with my phone.
I just love what people have done with Clockr. And the sense weather animations are cool so I will miss those.
I guess you're right "Product F(RED)". It took me awhile to find it and I would like to provide it to anyone who is looking, but I see what you're saying and maybe its not a good idea. On another note, I did a little bit of research and the guys who made the one that was pulled have made a new one (still called Fancy Widget) that is on the market. It looks pretty nice and has a lot of features, but does not have the "flip clock" design that I like so much.
