15th November 2010 -Welcome to phireMOD Vision!
Based off official RUU 1.34.405.5
I will not be updating this build any longer. Please use phireMOD Ace linked in my signature if you wish to use the newest sense on your HD2. Thanks to everyone for your support!
What’s the difference between this and SkinnyEVO?
HTC Vision (or Desire Z) has many visual changes over the Evo sense roms. A few of the differences you’ll notice are flipping animations with the clock, fading transitions between programs, and the ability to apply skins (themes) to your phone from right inside of Sense. There are many other minor graphical changes, and a few functional ones such as “Recent Apps” showing in your notification bar.
This build is multilanguage.
What doesn’t work
Ereader
Camera/Camcorder
Live Wallpapers
Navigation is glitchy
Install Notes
You may encounter odd flickering of the boot animation and then a black screen. If this is the case, just wait longer, it is still booting.
Please change to a static wallpaper first thing!
Huge thanks to
football for the ROM

love the new desire-hd and desire-z builds, not enough of them here i think..
just a question- does this build sync with htcsense.com or not ?
great to see another new generation sense build
.
Great to have up-to-date Desire Z/HD build.
Does anyone know if any dev's working on camera? I've seen some active work few weeks ago, but not recently.
I do like the release, but the fact is the ereader and navigation problem, make me wait for an othe release, but your work is appreciated as i'm big fan of hastarin kernel
Great job on this man, always good to see more Z and HD ROM's.

I didn't get a chance to test that.. So I'd appreciate some feedback
Thanks for the build/share. I would also like to see more of these roms posted around here. Did a quick search and did not find any others besides yours. Then again, forum searches have not always been my friend
update:
build does sync with htcsenseDOTcom. Ask for your information/register account at the android phone setup.
Thanks Phire for this rom. I am currently using your beautiful themed Evo 1.7 rom. I am so happy to see that you have now cooked a Desire HD/Z rom. I know when the HD/Z rom is fully functional I will be moving to use it as my daily rom in place of the evo rom. And certainly I will be sticking with your roms. I am really looking forward to the fix for the htc eReader and the the camera. I love the htc reader so much so that i keep on booting to windows whenever am reading books instead of using the readers availabel in android market.
I have a personal request. Is it possible sir to cook a themed HD Desire rom similar to the themed Evo 1.7. I so much love the themed evo rom such that stock sense looks like something the cat dragged in......
By the way boss is it possible to install the theme separately or it must be cooked into the rom? I have in mind something like the GTX theme for winmo which can be installed as a cab.....
phiredrop,
I am using your great EVO1.7. Do you will continue update that serials?
Jackie
this thing is legit!
Had some trouble at first (Device wouldn't wake up, and some lag), but changed kernel to MDJ's S4 and now works great!

+1
I also changed the Kernel to Hastarin 8.2UVOC and setCPU to "on demand" and now it works very well and fast.
So far I found two little bugs, not clear where they came from:
- On home screen, after wake-up, something is flickering, i guess it's the weather animation, but it's not quite visible
- A transparent bar appeared at the bottom of the home screen(and other screens), when I started playing music.
The camera is not working right?
No the camera is not working yet. When it is- you will hear a lot of happy yelling al over the xda community
Love the new sence but my own experience tells me that these roms are not as fast and smooth as mdj's eVo builds etc.. on the other hand: will keep an eye on this one more feedbacks!
Keep up the good work!
Nice build. So far seems to work just fine. It`s great to see that HD build is not ded Thanks a lot!
Great job! Thanks a lot of your effort!

I am glad to see that someone has started developing this rom again. Most of the older projects are dead. Hopefully we will get a working camera at some point. Thanks for taking on this project!
THanks again mate

People want summaries of the Android builds, so here we go:
1. For the most stable builds, pick the ones which are simpy Froyo 2.2 based, or based on the cyanogen mod (CM6) without sense, and are usually based on builds for the Google Nexus.
2. Then you have froyo + sense. now there are different versions of sense out there and froyo. you have the 'supersonic' over the air update which made it 2.2.1 versus the original 2.2. FRG** and FRF** denote different versions of android core.
Following that you have all the ones which are (usually) based on 2.2.1 android....BUT...the magical sauce is in the sense build they use. Unlike WM with 2018 and 2016 etc for sense we now have a few variants as defined by the phone they run on:
2a) Desire
2b) Evo (sense build: 3.29.651.5)
2c) Desire HD roms (sense build: 1.24.405.1)
2d) Desire Z (1.22.405.1)
2e) Lexicon ()
Lexicon seems to be a quick sense build, BUT things like compass and gsensor and camera dont seem to work.
Desire Z seems to be visually nicer, almost as nippy, much newer....but the font sizes are not optimised for the HD2 - the PPI is too low and fonts bigger - i.e. you see less on the screen at the time. same gsensor, camera and compass issues as above.
Desire HD builds are the biggest resource hogs...but nevertheless remain fast if you have a taskkiller and are visually the most stunning. same gsensor and compass and camera issues as above. Having used this more extensively I can also confirm that I get data disconnects (which plague all recent builds), but the HTC reader does not work, and the HTC locations/latitude does not work fully. HTC hub etc works fine tho.
Evo - more stable and more fully featured than any of the above, but not quite as quick nor as pretty. also font scaling not as good as on Desire HD rom. Data disconnects still on this build. Has voice activiation/dialing with long send key.
Desire - the oldest set of builds - or was it HTC ACE/bravo??/ I can't quite remember. very stable, but not very quick. I think this came with voice dialing activated with long send key.
I am using the Desire HD based mdeejay ROM 24/7 now. seems very good. I don't like the gmail email app tho...fortunately I dont need the camera. I get no music stuttering. BT works perfectly (stereo+mono), as does GPS. Voice search/commands work when you launch the app, but it does not seem to be triggered by a long send...can't remember if voice command works triggered from BT headset.
It does use more battery than WM - I barely get two days solid use whereas I used to get a solid 3 on WM only. I have installed setcpu and run it quite aggressively with my own settings to really get the most out of the battery. Without setcpu mdeejay's desire HD build would often run at 1138Mhz constantly.....
Also remember that not only do the builds differ in terms of Android build, and sense build (if included), but often come with different kernels - such as by hastarin, michyprima and the more stock ones based on the zimage database maintained by the htc-linux team. The kernel will usually determine what works and what doesn't.
Hope this helps.
Setcpu settings r same for rach build. Or u use different
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I run it much more aggressively than set in most builds. I use the conservative and powersave clock governor settings and have it staged at different battery %ages and whether the screen is on or off to adjust the min and max cpu speeds.
Nice summary man, thanks!

AWESOME!! This post is much appreciated! I am sure that this is the information many users were looking for and hopefully are willing to join this project!!

Simply put: KERNEL is a model, different designer put different clothes on her, its still her.
We have two models, Nexus one base, and Evo base model
thanks for this summary!!! it is really helpfull info you provided here.
I will try mdeejay Desire HD build. Currently I have Darkstone Froyo Stone 3.1, but battery life is horrible for me. Even with Set Cpu, Task Killer and JuiceDefender I can't make a day... and I barely use my device during a day...
Thank-you! I've been going through builds like I'm bar-hopping on a Saturday nite. This will definitely help with settling down.
I'm looking for a working camera, minimal or skip-free music, yahoo mail linkability, and Facebook contact linking. Everything else I can compromise.

Shubcraft? I'll check it out and report back. Thanks.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I want it to have Sense as well.
thanks a lot for this info!
Now this is clear, I hope the devs will kinda keep us informed about which version they're using
As I'm having serious battery issues (using setcpu and all) I'll try Froyo 2.2 or cyanogen mod.
Too bad there hasn't been an update to those builds lately

Great guide.
Welcome,

Good idea, but:
I think this thread is a little unappropriate. You can ask people for their personalpreference, but there's not Best Android since that's a very subjective matter. Either change the title to Choose Your Preferred Android (or anything similar) or it will be closed for certain
My personal favorite is [mattc Froyo w/Sense 1.8] because it's really clean and stock-like, and working like a charm!
there is no such thing as the best rom and i feel sorry for those who make choices based on popularity only.
just for the record, i use coredroid now and used xcelsior's before. neither of these are on your list...
Neither are mattc Leo and froyo sense. And OzDroid is winmo

I really dont know if I want to keep this open as these kind of threads have always been a breeding ground for flames and arguments to start. I will keep it open 'for now' but will be keeping an eye on it and if it starts to degrade from the subject then I will have to close it.
Either way you need to take the_scotsman's OZDROID out of the list as it is a WinMo Rom WITHOUT an Android Build included. Also it might be worth asking for the reasons why someone prefers the build they are using as it may give insight to new users looking for a Build to use.
I also changed the title of the thread to make it less prone to flames and clarify that this isnt a vote for the Best Build but purely what the users prefers. Please also change the title of the poll acordingly.
Mark.
I'm getting ready to flash my first Android build but I visited a few threads before and the poll results confirm what I had heard.
It's a good idea to help newcomers like me decide, as long as it doesn't derail .

Cheers mark,
I've always been bad with my assignments no matter how hard i try i'd always mess them rofl writing has been always my weakest point and will be
cheers for sorting it out
PS: I wasn't sure about that Win one either might remove it to keep it pure Android ones, i should made it more like "which droid you use most?" so that would have made it easier to see who use what...
PS: the purpose of this was to see which one is most fav among us as all and which build is recommended by most. as you can choose more than one to vote for i think its fair on all
Cheer
For me so far the shubCRAFT 2.0 seems to be the best. But i tried almost every android build around. The phiremod, and hyperdroid 1.7 are ok too.
This must be because i like the sense-less builds.
My main concern with this thread is it being outdated when new builds get released or updated. And it's all subjective anyway. One mans meat is another mans poison, ones man sick setup is another man iPhone...

I had that in mind but this isn't meant to run for long time, if it shows 1 week's info i guess it will be much beneficial for many of us.
Rest i am curious, want to know and being new to Android wont hurt to see who use which android and for what purpose guess that will enhance our knowledge about the build a little more, i find it really hard going thru 500+ pages and 1000s of posts to just get some proper info as u know that already.
Thanks for time and info much appreciated always...
Ok well if it's just for a personal snapshot of what people are using at the moment I kinda get it, but even if we like something doesn't mean you will, and our stability may not guarantee it for you.
Using Shubcraft 2.0 (DropMode) atm and really liking it. Couple of little niggles (notification bar colour, changing it in the settings doesn't seem to work properly; installer bar on market flickers annoyingly) but they really are minor. Boots reasonably quick, doesn't crash on me, good standby battery drain, mostly reliable data.
* [UPD][BUILD][24.10.10]Mdeejay FroYo HD v.3.7|1.32.405.3|kernel:hastarin R7.6
This has given me great battery life because it's under-clocked, and still runs very smooth.
The skin changer is a great new feature for eye candy and so far everything works except the camera, but I can always boot back to winmo to take pics, until a solution is found.
I was reluctant to try this as I didn't want to reset up everything, so with a fresh SD card copied the build then coppied my image file from Froyo Sense 3.2 and amazingly it worked without issues. Just lucky I guess.
A big thanks to all you Devs. I never thought Android could be so much fun....

I echo everything you've said but the camera is a killerapp for me, especially as the software on the Android builds produces much better shots than on WinMo.
Using Evo Revolution 2.3 until Mdeejay FroYo HD sorts the camera out.
I'm on mattc's 1.8. The most amazing build I've ever seen. It's stable, runs smooth with hastarins 8.1 kernel and I had never any problems. I've tried several others, like MDJ, Froyostone and Bangsters. But I have to say the only problem I had in MDJ's build was the issue with those scrolling lags and they're gettin very annoying at some time. The other builds I had much more problems like sync over the air, wrong GPS data and so on. And don't think I'm just puttin some builds on my phone to see that they don't work. I'm really in Android and I had long nights trying to solve those problems.
That's why I prefer mattc. Never had any dammed issue But where is he? I would really appreciate an update..
Tytung's NexusHD2 wasn't listed and is the best Nexus-based build yet. It is the absolute only Nexus-based build that will function smoothly as a factory build with all my usual widgets. And I use the G2 7-screen launcher. So I have 7 pages worth of widgets and it is still as smooth as a factory phone. All of the others I've tried, except the MCCM Nexus-based build, will be laggy as hell and jerky when scrolling between homescreens.

Is it possible to provide the links for each of the Builds? Thanks!
Hey all,
i wanted to know which build you prefer and which build the most stable one is. im searching for a version with less bugs. i want a non laggy version. can somebody help?
the ram versions are far away from being stable right?
what about the hd versions? have they much bugs?
I love to know this too. I want stable and not care much of nice animation. i think you will get different answer because i don't think anyone know what the best out there. You will have to try different one to see which one work for you best. Every single one out there will the different issue you might run into? The good thing are alot of developer actively working on these rom for FREE. That really nice of them. I really appreciate all the hard work.
The common response to this question is that it's really about personal preference at this point. There may be some small features not working in each build but I can't say that any of them have any particular major flaws unless it's a "work in progress" build like Gingerbread MyTouch4G or whatever. I recommend bookmarking this http://android.hd2roms.com/ and get a better idea of the different Roms and see which are staying updated or w/e. I like to have 2 types of Roms, a Stock-like or Cyanogen-based and a Sense-themed. Of these types, I have found the following to be particularly good for me:
- Cyanogen-based: HD2ONE (all though he is not developing any longer, this one should be solid for a long time.. my personal favorite) - JDMS (could easily replace HD2ONE for me if JDMS stays in the game and keeps new Cyanogen builds rotating in and doing the testing\tweaking for us)
- Sense-themed: MDJ Froyo HD (I'm most impressed with MDJ's commitment to keeping his roms up to date. Sense based are often bulky so I have to overclock them a tad but MDJ compensates by undervolting nicely)
- Stock-like: Darkstone SuperRam (I may be biased for Darkstone's builds but this one loads super quick) - NexusHD2 (Solid and Slick... nothing wrong with this one)
- Experimental: MDJ Gingerbread (Really looking forward to the last couple things to get ironed out on this build)
So yeah, there are 6 right there that I use. Which one I use the most is kinda hard to say. I currently bounce between HD2ONE and MDJ FroyoHD. I use Excellar boot loader and just customize my Rom names and just reboot in each and play/test them all for speed/stability/functionality at my leisure. I just load up my card like this and figure out what works for me the most:
/HD2ONE
/MDJFroyoHD
/SuperRAM
/JDMS
/NexusHD2
Bottom-Line... all of them are excellent, have fun and try each on. And don't be afraid to try something new. A lot of new guys are trying to get their stuff out there for us and need testers and feedback to help them perfect it. Sorry for being long winded, there really is no simple answer. They are all good!
For me its MDJ Revolution HD v.1.2 with hastarin 8.6 kernel
Its apsolutly fast, stable and good looking. I have tried almoust all versions and this one is definitly winner for me.
I vote for option A - Try them all and see which one you like best.
Mdeejay Sense Clean 2.3 build as posted in Mdeejay thread by Hastarin. It has Hastarin kernel 8.53b included but you can update to 8.6. It's totally stable and I haven't found anything to replace it.

The Nexus build from TyTung is the most stable and there is nothing "not" working...check it out.
MCCM's builds are perfect. Everything works and they are fast without overclooking. I get 1662 on quadrant with stock CPU settings. with his builds. I'm using his Desire HD build.

Also, they are rock solid stable and battery draws 5 - 7 mA in standby.

but it doesnt work for me for calling.no sound when i call soneone.but music plsys fine.
Nexus build by TyTung, it is very smooth & stable, with very low battery consumption
i agree with the nexus one notion. my only problem is that battery when standby averages at 11 mA
Any build can be as good as you want if you know what to do. For me, I simply like sense builds. I have mdj 1.7 as main but I am currently testing moto my touch 4g and dandiest desire z.

There are two causes for this, one Tytung address in his post; GPS off.
The other is addressed in my post; it's a light that stays on that's supposed to be used only during call.
Check it out.

Hello Mates,
Some of you might be in here that I've dealt with in the past. I am new to Android, but did a good share of work in here with WinMo and just came back from iOS. My iphone was stolen and I was bored with it, so I have just ordered a HTC Wildfire. While it gets here I am wanting to ask some questions. Obviously i tweak all the phones I own (have a BB too) and wanted to know who can recommend a good ROM that for now that keeps the Sense UI, but has most of the garbage sorted out (Language packs, and other unneeded stuff) so I can start reading. Two years ago, there were perhaps 4 or 5 ROMS per WinMo device, I see the game has changed.

Well, from the list of Sense ROM's, I would recommend WildPuzzle or Sunnabh. I have used both (Not that others like DK/DS etc., so cant really comment), and, both are fine ROM's. WildPuzzle allows a bit more customization by way of more packages and stuff, and, Sunnabh allows for stability minded approach, but, its your call.
I would say, try out both, and use the one which suits you. Ultimately, have a look at CM7 as well, even though it doesn't have Sense, I was mighty impressed with it. (Initially, even I was more of a "Sense" user)
Finally, hope that your Wildfire does not come with 2.2.1 pre-installed. Else, you will have to hunt around for someone with an XTC Clip.
The best sense ROM imo is Wildpuzzle . I love the transparent status bar and lock screen, its fast and since its just a customized version of a stock rom everything works and its as stable as an elephant on 4 legs.
But if you want a ROM with a bit more customization and android 2.3 (wildpuzzle only have 2.2) CM7 is a very good ROM (mh, what could u expect, Jacob compiled it ). The only problem with it imo is the slow gallery (not sense gallery) and the videocam quality.
Moved to general
I moved away from sense a few months ago and started using CM7, definitely not planning on going back any time soon! It should definitely be your first option if you decide to look beyond sense.

Which version of CM7 are you using? RC2 has a much faster version of the gallery than it used to, or at least it does on my Wildfire?
After months of testing, I am now using Leaf r3 and it's the best I have ever tried.
ALWAYS stable, no freeze. It's almost stock FroYo ROM but Sense widgets and some useless apps that I hated have been removed (oh thanks).
In CM7, the font looks pixelated, much worse than in FroYo. I believe is a Sense thing. So, I took Leaf r3 and created a Gingerbread-style framework-res.apk and HtcResources.apk, combined with Metro homescreen.
Amazing!
Some Sense apps are much nicer than Stock android apps (specially Camera)
OMGB = Pure Gingerbread AOSP. Minimal deviations from stock.

neat, is this RC4, I assume? Also, most people like screen shots even though often it doesn't show much.
congrats on the ROM.
Does it have a built in kernel?
gah. why does everyone assume its cm. this is not at all built from cm. its build from my own source.

Looks good.. I'll give it a shot!!!
Btw, this is the pure gingerbread rom that tazz was talking about on his thread the other day
Very nice.. responsive.. going to OC to try and squeeze all I can out of this dated machine but it's good!!
Anyone flash this after using gsb? Any notable speed/performance gains? I'm definately interested in a minimal, fast, lightweight rom just like this, it's just what an older phone like our eris needs.
wow!! great looking rom!!
is there any way you can add the option to choose affiliated network?
Thanks r2DoesInc - this will be fun to play with!

Nothing I would call HUGE improvements but some.. a few things are a little more responsive but for the most part GSB is pretty slim as well .. It's a solid rom.. job well done!!
I've never been too fond on the CM based roms just because I feel like there are too many options for me so when I saw this rom I knew I had to flash it since i've been waiting for a 2.3 pure android. Currently on 2.1 pure vanilla and love it. This rom is pretty awesome. One thing I did notice though was the touch buttons on the bottom of the screen seen don't seem to light up when they are supposed to. Sometimes in low light conditions they will and sometimes they won't. That is my only "complaint" which isn't that big of a deal. Again, real nice work.
Will give this a shot in the morning. Been looking for a non-CM as well....Thanks!
Flashing later tonight.
Love the ROM but wonder what C2C options there are since I have some fairly large apps.
Allow me to get this out of the way....
Derrrr, Duz this have flash!??!?//?
Liking this rom!
