neat, is this RC4, I assume? Also, most people like screen shots even though often it doesn't show much.
congrats on the ROM.
Does it have a built in kernel?

gah. why does everyone assume its cm. this is not at all built from cm. its build from my own source.
it looks like gb, nothing special to see, but im working on screens now

nice im going to try this out is this using sense?

is that download of gapps the 3-7-11 ones?

Looks good.. I'll give it a shot!!!

Btw, this is the pure gingerbread rom that tazz was talking about on his thread the other day

Very nice.. responsive.. going to OC to try and squeeze all I can out of this dated machine but it's good!!

Anyone flash this after using gsb? Any notable speed/performance gains? I'm definately interested in a minimal, fast, lightweight rom just like this, it's just what an older phone like our eris needs.

wow!! great looking rom!!

is there any way you can add the option to choose affiliated network?

Thanks r2DoesInc - this will be fun to play with!

Nothing I would call HUGE improvements but some.. a few things are a little more responsive but for the most part GSB is pretty slim as well .. It's a solid rom.. job well done!!

I've never been too fond on the CM based roms just because I feel like there are too many options for me so when I saw this rom I knew I had to flash it since i've been waiting for a 2.3 pure android. Currently on 2.1 pure vanilla and love it. This rom is pretty awesome. One thing I did notice though was the touch buttons on the bottom of the screen seen don't seem to light up when they are supposed to. Sometimes in low light conditions they will and sometimes they won't. That is my only "complaint" which isn't that big of a deal. Again, real nice work.

Will give this a shot in the morning. Been looking for a non-CM as well....Thanks!

Flashing later tonight.

Love the ROM but wonder what C2C options there are since I have some fairly large apps.

Allow me to get this out of the way....
Derrrr, Duz this have flash!??!?//?

Liking this rom!

Darchdroid v2 - Please!

1st - THank you so so much, for Darchdroid v1. I owe you a beer, Darchstar
2nd - than you to all the developers for your time and effort.
3rd - Anybody have any ideas when we'll see, Darchdroid v2, with camera running, video etc.. ? This is probably the best rom. For me at least.
There is an issue though with it not allowing exchange calendar sync. Not sure if its a bug or not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645491
I saw that, which if I am not mistaken, is not the same one. This one has all the sense ui stuff.
Darchdroid v1, is a motorola droid/ nexus UI hybrid.
I'll load that one in the link but I a m sure its sense ui rom.

Please Darch, dont give up on DarchDroid Development. I happened to play with Fresh 2.0b2 and still yes it worked nice, but compare to Darchdroid is nothing.
Hopefully you working around with it.

I second this! I much prefer this rom to the sense ones and anxiously await the next ver. Even after the official release I'm still going to prefer aosp.
I too prefer aosp. please give an update soon

We want DARCHDROID! We want DARCHDROID!
Correct me if I'm wrong but there is an issue getting the touchscreen working in aosp 2.1 with the .29 kernel. That's the only thing stopping a release. Be patient guys. It will come.
I don't even want to use Sense UI anymore... I'm in love with the old aosp 2.1 release.

Feel the same way. I gave up my BT, Camera and all the Sense features for Eclair. I rather speak on my speaker and get the full drill out of the phone with Eclair than having a bunch of fancy icons with Sense UI.
Correct me if I wrong
I have to agree the look and feel of the nexus rom was great!
WAS great? I don't think anything comes close! I love the animations, keyboard, white graphics and borders, launcher, dialer, mail & texts, etc... I can live without the camera and extras for this...
Just hope one day we can get everything working, fluid, and smooth. But I understand that my Hero is not a Nexus One, but it's close!

Roms without Sense UI

Hello all im currently looking for a rom for my dinc that doesn't have the sense ui... Wich one the most popular.l?
Your looking for Android Open Source Project, or AOSP ROMs, I'd say Cyanogen Mod is the most popular, current version is CM7 RC1, which is Android 2.3. There's Skyraider Athena and a couple others. If your looking for something like an iPhone go for MIUI. Its all your choice.
Sent from God, who uses CM7 RC1.
Yep, my top choice would be CM7-RC1.5, then CM6.1, MIUI, and the rest I've sorta lumped into a big group- but there are a lot of really great AOSP ROM's.
I agree about miui an d cm 6.1-7
Very stable, amazing battery life.
And ironically my first reboot was writing this as I write it is stable lol. nonetheless, I recommend cm, but miui is nice too.
I'm using incredikernal beta and am on like, 58 hours off the charger with my 3500 seidio at 45%.

Let me ask you this... whichever rom I decide to choose, will I still have access to my Verizon backup assistant and Verizon exclusive apps like nfl mobile?
I'm currently running Sense(less) rEVOlution 2.0 (its not AOSP) along with
2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v. So far I love it. Fast Stable and great battery.
I actually like the senseless ones better than aosp since they keep a bunch of really nice sense stuff while eliminating most of the bloat. Both skyraider athena and senseless revolution (which I also use and love) fall into that category. If you look in the dinc development forum, somebody just posted a nice comprehensive list of the available roms arranged by type. It'd be a great place to start.

Ok im going to sound real amatureish here i rooted my dinc and used the vitorus rom that is basically stock without the bloatware... That being said i need to know what AOSP means. Also i need to know do i install the kernell seperate from the rom itself or is the kernel included and i just have to find the right one.

AOSP basically just means it doesn't have sense, a lot of them are generally buggy but you'll find a few that are very nice to have on your phone.
They all have different looks, so I'd suggest you just checking out each one and seeing for yourself.
MIUI has sort of an iPhone look and feel to it.
I wrote up a list of ROM's here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969371
So just check down the list to see how different ones look. Of course many of those also have additonal modifications that you can put on that will further change how things look (changing notification bar color, etc)
> Flashing a Kernel you can do just like flashing a ROM. Every ROM (at least that I know of) comes with a kernel when you flash it. However you'll find that there's a few Kernels that give superior battery life and performance than others.
I decided to try skyraider Athena 1.2 has anyone noticed you aren't able to sync your contacts with Facebook?

Check there. I was using chads .37 kernel and getting awesome battery life, it also has quick charge.

Going to sound noobish...Different Roms?

Ok ive been doing all this rooting and customization for about 3 months now and i have what i think is a big noob Question!
Q. What is the purpuse of other roms, other then stock or cyanogen?
-Do they offer different things that i dont know about, i mean i know some allow you to get netflix and better batterylife but isnt the batterylife thing really lie in the kernel?
But other then that why get a different Rom if im going to customize it the same way i have now?
And im totally sorry if this sounds dumb...still trying to really get into all this modding thing.

Well you bring an interesting spin on a simple thought. With all the options out there you can make a Sense ROM look AOSP or make a AOSP ROM look like sense... 8
Some of the ROMs are just personal preference. I use Cyanogen(mod) because that is what i've used for my entire "android life", it's what i know, it's what i like. I know what going to be included, i know where to find stuff... . I know eViL Dee has some follower in the same case, as well as TeamRoyal. It's a comfort level i guess. I mean with so many Sense Based ROMs, so many AOSP ROMs and some other, it's all about minor tweaks. Like Cyanogen(mod) and Faux123 both offer amazing AOSP ROMs. But Faux is a little more "pure" when it comes from an AOSP end point.

#1 what is AOSP lol
#2 so really the other roms are the same thing with sort of a different look but in reality you can basically achieve that look by modding it ..
#3 so there really isnt a difference in roms is basically wat your saying..
Don't forget miui, used to hate the ios_esk ui, but there is alot of customizability without having to go through adw or lp. Super smooth super fast. You can change everything from boot ani to fonts/custom lock screen in their there manager.
Use to be a big aosp user, but got a little plain and boring. If I was still on my mt3g I would be using aosp, but with our hardware we can afford a little more eye candy and convenience without performance sacrifice.
I usually rock between evil's vf3 and royal miui. Both get about 2 days of battery life with absolutely no lag

AOSP: android open source project. More of pure vanilla android without all the extra framework and great for performance. I've gotten up to 3500 in quadrant score on aosp and 3 days of battery life.
Sense roms: built off htc sense framework. Tons of pretty interactive widgets but sacrifice battery and performance. Your stock mt4g came with sense stuff like facebook and weather clock animated widgets. And yes you can get sense looking widgets in an aosp, but htc offers much more than you can find on the market.
Miui: kind of like ios meets android. Not everybody likes it,
You can technically make any rom type look like any other rom type. But in the core and functionality, they are world apart
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The thing is you can replicate the UIs of other phones but you never never perfectly mimic the functionality gained from a specific UI, you cant get certain MIUI features in CM, or get all the integration of Sense into others rom. You can also make you phone look like a Droid, Sony, LG, Sammy, etc... I like MIUI now since it seems to be much quicker than other roms, I've used android since like late 09, and I must say MIUI is so different even though it's android at the core.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong on any of this
Cm was developed to work on most android phones. Most of the AOSP roms that you see in the glacier development section are based off of CM but customized to work better for our phone.
Now looking at other roms for instance take Royal Ginger.
"Is built and compiled from CM7 source code with lots of the CM7 extras and other assorted bloatery removed + a custom kernel & numerous tweaks and optimizations added in. It's sleak, it's mean, and it's fast"

So it came from CM, lets look at the 2.0 channel log to see exactly what the Developer did to it and then after trying CM if the changes look better it may be worth trying
- entire ROM completely rebuilt and compiled from scratch using latest 2.3.4 CM7 source code. i don't just take in all of the updates/code/commits willy nilly. i check them all out and cherry pick the ones i want .. test some out, decide whether or not to keep them in, etc. (more on that later)
- bundled with my first kernel build: ckisgen-smartass-CM7-v1.0 . this is compiled using a base of zinx's latest CM7 stock source but i've added in the smartass governor (with a little inspiration from dumbfuqs source code, thanks df!) and then tweaked a couple of addt'l settings. i've bumped the default max clock to 1.1ghz. this kernel will overclock to 1.8ghz. i've got LOTS of plans for this in the future. i'm going to be working hard on it. i went with something like this for maximum compatibility with this latest 2.3.4 and all the changes that it's brought about. I def gotta give a big THANKS to FauxMoney for the colorful late night conversations and inspiration to make my own kernel...thanks man.
- FULLY working google Talk with video and audio working BOTH ways (ok maybe not 100% .. switching to rear camera FC's but we're working on that..still really solid)
- moved basically all of the remaining 'extra' CM apps and a couple of others to user storage so that they can be easily removed using the traditional uninstall method via the manage applications menu (settings/applications). i call this one the "E-Z AOSP-ify" update. these apps are:
* terminal
* xda
* DSP manager (this is the new one with the EQ presets .. very nice)
* FM
* ROM Manager
* Spare Parts
* stk
* Swype
* Torch
* YouTube
- TONS and TONS of other stuff .. optimizations everywhere .. GPS, radio, data, ETC!!!!!

After using CM for a while this may look good so read all the comments to see if anyone was having issues and whether they liked it, was it a battery hog to slow to fast etc. Any new rom will have some minor bugs but if all the new pro's outweigh the couple cons try it.
I also saw that it was on version 2.1, so I read that channel log (I won't post here) to see what fixes or changes were made. Maybe a new theme, kernal, some new app's.
It becomes fun, get involved, learn as you go try new stuff and see what works for you. Always ask if you have a question, everyone around here is really helpful.
I just used Royal Ginger as an example to show you the difference between CM and another AOSP rom that is based of CM
Edit: Also look at the pictures that they add, most everything can be changed but a rom's pics may just look really cool that you just have to try it.
Bottom line, try it all and settle with the one you like. It'll keep you busy and entertained for months

Need advice, can't find a good ROM

Hello everyone, for a little while I've been trying to find an ideal ROM for daily use, nothing fancy but something that meets my needs;
Most of all I need it to send/receive calls reliably and have decent battery life. I don't quite want something really flashy though eye candy makes the phone feel new & updated but functionality is more important to me. Here's a quick list of thing that I NEED working:
-Ability to disable data roaming (rules out express)
-4G (rules out all MIUI)
-Smooth video camera 720p without being choppy (rules out synergy)
-No random bugs ie, lock screen, weather, clocks (just the basics)
If you have tried or know of any currently available ROMs that fit this criteria please point me in the right direction, I'm so tired of flashing all these different ROMS only to find out that one of the things listed was not mentioned under the ROM description where I downloaded it, I know most of them claim to be bug-free but there is no such thing as bug free ROM unless I go back to stock, and I understand that so I'm not looking for the holy grail, just something that works for what I need it to do.
phone is rooted & running amon-ra recovery
Thanks in advance

I think the most stable Rom out is MikG v3.1 It's a sense 2.1 3.0 Rom with a Ton of themes and mods that can be mixed to suit your style. Because of the hardware we have on the EVO there's only so much you can get out of it. Anything above 3.0 doesn't play nice with our phones. I've tested and read about every Rom out there and MikG v3.1 running Anthrax kernel with v6 Superscript & 3G turbo is the best.
my sense load is mikg 3.XX and my aosp load is aokp m4. both worked flawlessly.
wow I am blown away by Tomatoe's express
tons of space left after flash & installing all my apps also fast & smooth.
Reset the battery & unplugged it yesterday morning and now it's been over 24 hours since I last charged it, talked for at least an hour, sent & received some texts, had wifi on the entire time, as mentioned I've been downloading stuff off the market & even played pandora for at least half an hour and right now the battery still has 38% left, I wanted to test all the other ROMs mentioned but I find it hard getting out of this comfort spot I find myself in now that I have everything set up the way I like it

I may be wrong since I'm starting to forget what I have & have not tried yet but have you had trouble with video cam at 720p? again I could be wrong but I wanna say that I experienced choppy recording from mikG, I like sense 3.0 most when it comes to look & feel so I might give it a try....
I'm still very amazed by tomatoe's express, my excitement will wear off in a day or two I am sure haha
on a side note, I may have found a problem with express (or my google voice!!)
I have over 50% reception in my home, and since last night I've seen 2 missed calls on my google voice inbox but the phone never rang, could this be the ROM or Google?

Current Stable ROM and Kernel Combinations

Since there's not a whole lot of development right now for our device beyond slight modifications to stock images, I thought I'd start a thread on the best combinations I've found so far of the latest ROM's and kernels and such there are to choose from currently.
I've had the best luck so far with Elixir v.2.0.1. In my experience it's the only one so far that doesn't have a bug or anything that isn't working in it. It's missing an advanced reboot menu unlike the others but beyond that it has a very nice subtle theme change making colors darker and easy on the eyes and it's snappy and decently conservative on it's own. This ROM combined with Sensei version 8 kernel is fantastic!!! My battery increased 135% after undervolting 24mV and upping the clock speed to 2.9 (governor interactive) along with replacing MPDecision with Intelliplug on Conservative settings. There's even less stutter than in the stock installation and phone doesn't get nearly as warm.
A lot of people using the later Sensei releases are complaining of boot loops so I recommend staying at release 8 for now until the issues calm down in the next release or so. The developer has done a fantastic job and is working very hard on the kernel! Be sure and thank him.
What combinations are you guys using and what are your results?
Running elixir as well with lean kernel great rom no bugs very fast and like you said i like the subtle theme nothing too far from stock. My battery life isnt that great maybe i will try undervolting and trying the sensei kernel tweaks.

Euphoria + LeanKernel.
Rastapop is nice too.
I'm running the latest Validus ROM with latest Sensei Kernel. Both ROM and Kernel are SaberMod compiled with many more optimizations, they're a great combo.
RIPng has rebased his kernel and removed a few features to gain stability.. In my testing it's been very stable. If anyone tries his latest release just hold off on using the most recently added governors, there is more work to be done on them.

You're not missing much at the moment by not flashing a ROM since all of them are just barely modified stock images! I know what you guys mean though. I've never been as happy with a stock installation as I am on Lollipop on this particular phone anyways. Google has really come a long way! It's pretty impressive when you continue to refine an OS to the point that flash junkies like us are even happy leaving it alone!

You should check out Validus or Liquid Smooth. They are both well beyond just stock. Liquid has the most features I've seen on any ROM for Shamu. Both are blacked out too.
Liquid on shamu?? I haven't noticed it in any forums yet! I'll get back to you... Gotta flash...

It still has some bugs but check it out. Starch for Ground Zero Roms on Google + to find Validus. They just has another release yesterday and it's amazing. No issues at all and again it's blacked out and has quite a few features. It's also compiled in SaberMod and optimized like crazy. It's fast and smooth. You'll like it I'm sure.

Thanks! I actually just found that build on their site for shamu. Is there an open forum for it anywhere?
What about Validus? Who supports it?

The Liquid Devs have stated that once their builds are more stable they will open a thread up on XDA . The Validus Dev has hinted towards possibly just keeping his builds on Google+
I've just been checking DrDevs for Liquid and I get updates on Google+ for Validus. Nice to see more features being added back into Lollipop though.
Slimlp and lean kernel here. Slim is the snappiest performance ROM I've tried. It just opens everything quickly and battery has been pretty good. It's going to take a beast of a rom to make me switch. This is my opinion but slim is the best ROM ATM.

I've only tried 1 so far, Sinless rom based off the google image and not the AOSP version. For all who are using any version of AOSP, does everything work, streaming to chromecast with netflix, hulu, google music, always listening Google, etc? I've lost track of the threads I've read and not read but I know I've read a few where certain things didn't work.
For now, If it ain't on XDA it ain't goin' on my phone.

Haha I had the same though myself! I'm familiar with the Liquid team though so I'll probably at least give theirs a try. What's the worst that could happen?!

Everything that wasn't streaming seems to have been fixed at this point. I know a lot of issues were related to a few ROM's who changed the Android System Version value from 5.0 to something custom like 5.0 + 5.0.1 hybrid and caused in compatibility with apps expecting 5.0 to be in that field.
