hello all, i'm going to buy a DHD tommorow, but want to know the phone is of what batch, first revision, or last revision, is there a way to know that? thank you
ummm, why does it matter?
as i know first batches had some defects, like sim battery gap, camera lens, volume speakerloud, sensor fix, body parts misalignement.....
but later batches did help fixing some of the problems, starting by the body gaps. i know that some of the problems are solved by new OTA like sensor, but not the hardwre and body related issues.

I recently sent my daughters ARIA in for a screen replacement. The repair shop was in Texas and did a good replacement (of the screen) but messed up the phone. Sense we have gotten the phone back the proximity sensor only works in extremely bright light (the repair shop says it was faulty when it came into their shop and that I would have to pay to have it repaired). At times it won't come back on unless the battery is removed. I have been reading that the prox sensor is a somewhat sensitive item with HTC's. It would appear this is a common problem after repair, with many HTC models. Does anybody have steps on how to rectify this problem or does anybody recommend a repair service that is know to be able to fix this issue?
That sucks that they are not taking responsibility for the problem, especially since it is actually a pretty common issue for the proximity sensor to stop working properly after replacing the digitizer. I doubt the sensor itself is damaged. Most likely the problem is that they didn't get everything lined up exactly right when they put the new digitizer on.
If I were you, I'd probably try to force their hand and make them fix it, but if you can't get them to do it without having to pay for it, then instead you might consider disabling the proximity sensor on the phone. A less drastic thing you can do is to set the phone so that the proximity sensor is only used when the phone is held vertically (i.e. up to your ear) and not horizontally (like when you're holding and looking at the screen). This is possible with the CM6/CM7 ROMs but I don't know if it is in the Sense ROMs.
Is your phone rooted? If not, are you willing to root it for this purpose?

Agreed what i did, because of there lack of offering to fix there problem, was put a claim in through paypa.l Paypal then, made them refund my payment. So having them fix it now, is out of the question!

So there is no way for me to fix the sensor, nor have it fixed?

Well yes and no, with the problems involved, I needed to purchase another one for my daughter so I am trying to fix this one to resell it
If I'm not mistaken there was a post up a while back where someone posted the htc authorized repair centers list you could try searching around for that I can't tell you what it would cost but it's worth a try.

Oh, yeah. You can take the digitizer off yourself and probably make sure everything is lined up properly, put it back on, and see if it works. But some people aren't comfortable doing this because it can be pretty tough to not leave fingerprints or dust underneath, etc. You can also just try taking it to another repair center and see if they can do it. It wouldn't require buying any new parts (since you already have a replacement digitizer) so it might not be too expensive to do.
Check some of the other threads in this forum -- I'm pretty sure there are a few that talk about how to remove and replace the digitizer. You might look at those to see if you think it's something you trust yourself to do.
Hello everyone,
even tought I have a new phone I'm still in touch with the GT540, because now my brother is using it.
Nearly every ROM, beside the ones based on official 2.1 have problems with the accuracy of the touchscreen. Just like here:
So in the description of the video is written, that a new digitizer can fix this problem. Have anyone else tried this? I just ordered a new one on ebay today, also because the screen of the phone has some scratches.
It will take some time, till the new screen and digitizer from China will arrieve. But I will share my result with you.

I've had my HD2 for a few months now, problem is, mine was already quite beaten when bought. Wi-fi antenna wire thingy was busted, stole one from a dead Desire A8181, touchscreen was mis-glued due to a badly replaced display, lenses for proximity and light sensor are missing, screen has a whole line of dead pixels, case is busted, and so on.
Last week it started hanging up randomly on android. Thermal trouble. Fixed. However, when tearing the damn thing apart, I ripped the already messed flex cable. Great, now I can't flash, use MAGLDR, recovery, etc. Can anyone point me a reliable part/phone source? I'm in Brazil, so most eBay sellers are a no-go. Or, if anyone has a dead/beaten TMo Leo they are wishing to sell/trade, PM me. Dunno if I'm posting this right, but as I'm a XDA noob, no marketplace for me.

Let me know what you need, maybe I can help you!
I have a NST with glowlight and i have touch issues quite often... when using the keyboard when i touch backspace it touches "h".. when i touch space .. it touches b ... does anyone have these screen issues? it's like phantom touches.. i takes me 5mins to type something
This is a known issue. I just received mine in the mail and it had issues. I found you can clean it and it may help. But for me, since it is brand new, I just had them ship out a new one. If you are not under warranty, I actually just did a factory restore and it stemmed to have helped a bit.

Nook touch screens use infra-red sensors/emitters located around the edges of the screen. If the transparent plastic sandwiched between the screen and the bezel gets dusty, it can cause problems.

so it's not really a hardware fault but it's because of dirt?? any cover case that can protect against such scenarios? how do i clean it?
I think there are two scenarios (perhaps more). Faulty hardware in which the infra red sensors do not function correctly or dirt/ dust impeding their ability to function. One always hopes for the latter.
The reset I did only helped for about an hour.
First try to clean it.
Since you got it off eBay, start by contacting the seller. Ask the person if it is still under warranty.
Then, contact 1800thebook to get a replacement. If it is not under warranty, I am not sure what your options are. EBay and electronics is always a gamble. Sorry.

ok thx,... i have tried cleaning it up but it helps for a few seconds but then it gets freaky at times.. it's a pain to type! do you guys ever take notes with it??? it's impossible...
i don't think it's a hardware issue since the first 2 weeks it works with no problems... i was keeping it in the box while not in use... since i started not keeping it in its box.. i am getting these touch issues... so seems related to dust...
will i need to send back my nook to get a replacement... sounds pretty annoying to do so.. shipping is damn expensive
sidenote: looking at the edge of the nook, i see shiny particles... is this normal or is this dust?
i can't even type my wifi password anymore... every button i touch also "ghost" touch the corresponding middle button.. e.g. when i press d, i get dg ... how do i clean that damn thing? where do i need to clean exactly?? i am cleaning the edge.. does not seem to work.. sometimes it seems ok, then 2 secs later it gets messed up again
Cleaning the screen is a different reason to normal screens. Normally you just want the greasy finger prints off etc. However thats for a resistive or capacitve based touchscreen. NST/NSTG touchscreen works on an infrared array running along the edges ABOVE the screen rather than a stuck on touchscreen so as not to affect the contrast in sunlight.
This means a piece of particulate matter on the screen will affect the touch sensor.
If its confused sometimes it won't work at all! The worst environment to ever take your NST is to a sandy beach, really don't do it.
Personally I use a air duster (compressed air can) to get those pesky bits out of the edges.
When not using NST keep face down to keep out bits of crap or keep in a case..
Who here has sent in their phone to LG or have had to exchange their phone due to build quality issues? I am expecting mine back from LG soon. I had GPS issues, charging port issues, and the paint finish was bubbling along the bottom module.
So, here are a few things I feel are important things to look at when receiving your device. If you have sent in your phone and received it already could you share some info based off these questions?
What differences do you notice build quality wise?
Any HW differences?
How does the phone's battery life differ from before?
Did they repair the specific issue or does the device appear to have been replaced entirely?
Turn around time?
Some manufacturers have specific markers on serial numbers that indicate when they were manufactured which makes it pretty easy to figure out when it was made. I am gonna compare mine and see if I can find a difference, if there is something like that could you provide the small info needed to figure it out?
Here is what my device looks like after receiving it back from LG. Luckily(unlucky) they didn't actually fix the original issues I had and sent it back. I don't have a picture of the yellowing LCD yet. The reflective finish kind of makes the bubbling hard to see, but in person its pretty noticable.
I just replaced my G5 through AT&T, and it seems to be fine so far. My old G5 had camera issues after the last software update, it also had some screen burn in already. The "new" G5 seems to have similar battery life, and it took the update with no issues. I didn't have build issues with the old G5 and the new one seems even better built. I am.satisfied so far.
I had to send mine off for repair as the OIS was broken.
They decided to replace it as it was going to take longer than 7 days to fix it.. Funny thing is it took them more than 7 days to get a new one to me as they had no stock! I gave it to O2 on Monday 5th September, I just got the replacement this afternoon.

Better. The chin fits better on this replacement.
Any HW differences?
Not that I have noticed

Not had it long enough to say

Replaced

9 Days

I cant find any numbers or marks that indicate manufacture date. Maybe Its in software?

Mine, purchased at bestbuy, att, (2 months old) wifi and bluetooth stopped working. sent in to LG. came back with work order stating "gps test fail" Solution "update software"
Same phone came back with couple nicks in same places as before. i thought maybe they would send a new one or fix the parts chipped, but nooooooo. Thanks for NOTHING.
SOLD THE PHONE after i made sure it worked correctly.
Went with wife to att and got a new G5 for free when i finally talked her onto switching off samsungs boat
So far new phones are great. ill report back if this changes
My g5 had gps issues, sent it to LG for warranty repair. The phone returned scratched and couldnt detect sim card. I returned it to repair, they replaced screen because light leak, the back cover, and fixed the sim tray... LG in israel has a policy of not giving new devices , only do warranty repairs. At least its been 2 month and everything ok.
I have olso to mention that in israel LG has repair service that the repair guy will come to your house to fix your phone for free..
I just received my phone. They did not fix the issues I had sent it in for.
EDIT:
Sim tray ejection hole looks like they just shoved a big paper clip in there and damaged the hole, and my battery eject button now feels funny. The LCD is yellowing along the top right as well... This is seriously ****ty. I will upload pictures soon.
Pics are up. So disappointed with LG right now.
You sent your phone in service via courier service? Have you tried to take your "repaired" phone in an LG service center and try to have it replaced? I have never sent my previous phones in service with a courier so i have no experience with this situation but those few times I took my phone to service center for a repair, after it was fixed, i carefully check it for bad handling before taking it back. Was there no way you could refuse the "repaired" device on the "bad handling" reason?
Here in the US LG requires cell phone warranty repairs to be shipped in. We can't open packages to check if the decice is okay or not either because we have to accept them first. Don't get me started on calling in customer support... Luckily they have a web portal to generate ship in warranty requests and they give you a label.
The G5 is back in LG's hands for a second time. Hopefully they right the wrongs here...

Hopefully, semms like you've been through hell with it.
Surprise surprise it came back with the same issues. I've attached a more recent shot of the bubbling. My phone now has minor scuff marks on the back of the frame too. Sim tray hole looks like trash. The LCD does not yellow anymore, but the physical issues remain.
Edit: I am just going to buy the rear frame. I am wasting too much time with this crap. One thing is for certain, I can never count on LG having good build quality ever again.
Looks like my G5 is debloated. That's the one good thing I got out of this ordeal lol.
Edit: Build version screenshot uploaded. It also does not boot with the sprint logo. It looks and runs like an unlocked device. Once I get the new housing I guess this will be fine. GPS seems to be fixed, LCD looks normal.
EDIT2: The bloatware loads upon activation... GREAT. lol
Anybody got a trouble with the speaker mine start to glitch at ihigh level this morning. My g5 is 2 month old...
