CirclesMod is a UI modification for various ROMs on various devices.
Background
My parents tell me I was the kind of kid who would take everything apart and put it together again, or hook a model train power transformer up to a mini race car track and send the cars flying off the balcony. Being a former web designer, I couldn't keep my hands off the Android UI and I thought it'd be fun to create my own set of status icons, or whatever you'd call them. I wound up with something circular, simple and consistent...
Update policy
I'm not monitoring any ROMs, but I do take requests. Ask nicely and I'll probably make what you need, if I can

Downloads
My primary focus these days (development-wise, that is) are my Market themes for the T-Mobile Theme Chooser, also known from CyanogenMod, Oxygen 2.1.6+, GingerVillain to name a few. The themes are available from the Market via the links / QRs below. These are the full, paid versions that I'll encourage you to get, of course, thus supporting my development, but there are also free, lite versions.
All other downloads are available here in my repository.
Feel free to request stuff, but search this thread before asking. If you're wondering if there's a version for the latest Oxygen build, you might search this thread for "Oxygen" and look at the newest posts
Warnings and Disclaimers
I shouldn't have to state this explicitly, but better safe than sorry. You do this at your own risk! I have been flashing hundreds of different versions of my mods on my own devices without issues, but yes! Whenever you are changing settings and functionality on a level that requires you to reboot into recovery, you are running a non-zero risk of screwing something up. I accept no responsibility for any damage to your device, as a direct or indirect result of you using my modifications. We clear?
Prerequisites
Your must be rooted and have a custom recovery image installed. ClockWorkMod 3+ recommended. AmonRA works fine. If you don't know what this means, you should do a bit of reading first. Any information that you could possibly need on the subject is available in the Desire Android Development forum, or the corresponding forum for your device.
Having said that: Instructions
1. Do a nandroid backup of your current situation, so you can back to the way things were, if you want.
2. Download the zip that fits your ROM, and save it somewhere that's accessible from your custom recovery. Typically on your external SD card.
3. Reboot into recovery and flash it (and reboot, of course)

18. september 2010: Updated to work with OpenDesire 4.0 builds 19-21

Presumably yes, but I'm not really fresh on poking too much around in the services.jar and whatnot at this early stage.

Nice icons. Like them very much.
added them in UOT kitchen's themed icons (dark and bright), hope you don't mind.
credits in: http://circle.glx.nl/thanks_to/
After some polishing some images they can be used in uni-color set.
thanks very much, love the dark theme on Oxygen really clean.
Where can i find the CirclesMod.xml file?
edit: nvm it can be found at your own site
Really like this Mod, what are the chances we can get a transparent version for Oxygen. I am happy to help if someone would like to point me to some how to reading material.

I won't mind giving it a shot, but I'm not too keen on poking around in the services.jar at this early stage of Oxygen...
Right now I'm on holiday, so I won't be doing much about anything for the next week or so... I do have my macbook with me but I'm only online when my kid is sleeping - rest of the time we're playing in the water or building sand castles

Got AuraxTSense 8.0 installed and I don't have the transparent notification bar because I've got smooth sense icons installed right now. Would really like to keep the black statusbar as seen on the Oxygen screenshot. Is it possible to do so? Tried cooking them up on UOT, but always got transparent notification bar. Any helps ?

That whole issue about getting/getting rid of transparency is obviously going to be one of the first things I look at, when I get back from my holiday. I've never given it much thought because, well, it's a non issue
I guess I stopped using auraxtsense because the transparency bugged me, but I keep updating for new releases, cause it's a really good ROM (for a sense).
For opendesire I myself prefer the vanilla Android black on white, but made the sense-like one too because it was fairly easy to change clock colors etc in CM-settings.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Tnx looks very nice testing it now, i only had seen the circle battery a little bolder because on the AuraxTSense 8.0 from Neo with the transparant theme wich i like very much too. I almost need glasses lol, but i like this very much.. Hope u could make the battery a little bolder in the next post. Did include an example of the transparant theme
Hi i have gone from Opendesire to Oxygen i did a full whipe and clear,
installed oxygen and it works perfect.
Then installed your blackbar with circle mod.
Now here is the problem, I get black colour on the clock text on the top right, i read about fixing it for defrost and opendesire using CyanogenMod menu.
The problem is that Oxygen does not have CyanogenMod men and is not base on CyanogenMod,
So any idea how to fix this ???
Hi. Can someone explain why the percentage is not centered?
Also, is there a colour version of this app for defrost? I remember seeing one that had changing colours as the battery went down.
Cheers.
Quick question, will the DeFrost version work on a CDMA Desire running CM6.1-RC?
I just tried to flash this over Defrost 6.0g and I get a boot loop on both versions can anyone help?

Great to hear man glad you'll be keeping with it. And also glad you have the best phone out there right now lol you deserve it for all your hard work. Hows having sense 2.0 with no bugs at all btw? I've always wondered how it would be to have the rom that all us Inc users dream of having on our phones as stock lol
I know I am new to the Android Modding world and these forums and all, but today I finally figured out how to make a 9 patch PNG image quite easily. I was playing around with RandomKing's Modified Transparent MMS.apk and his Blue Swype.apk today to get it to look more like I would want it on my device.
This brings me to wondering what other people would like to see in these to .apks and far as theming goes. I am going to totally revamp the Swype Keyboard with the font that is used in RandomKings Hawk v.2 ROM as well as change the look of the buttons, colors, etc. side note: I tried playing with transparency of the swype keyboard a bit to mimic the transparent MMS, but there is the other 'keyboards' behind that image. IIRC it is the 'shift' version of w/e active keyboard.
For the MMS.apk, I am looking to make more color options, bubble styles and some gradiesnts'borders/glow instead of solid transparent colors.
I have been given the 'go' by random as I understood as long as I credit his original modifications.
I have no idea to code or compile a .zip to install and all that stuff, so these will be just the .apks that you will need to replace. ( I have done this already with my Swype.apk and MMS.apk about 20 times, haha)
Brings me to my next area of biniss... What would YOU guys like to see as far as themes go? I will probably do a few variants (colors) of one or two major styles.
Personally, I am all about dark themes, but i know everyone has their preference's
So, post up, throw in some ideas, ask questions.. I will NOT be taking donations or charging for ANYTHING, ever..
It took me a while to find out how to get this 9 patch stuff working and I almost lost hope when I saw that you had to use Eclipse (which i am NOT ready to learn) but now I found a MUCH easier way. I can do a tutorial and compile everything you need for this also if i have enough requests.
EDIT: you can choose as many or as little choices in the poll as you would like. If you don't see something you want, post it in the thread. I will try to keep on top of the comments in this thread, but I am going to start working on it right now.
I'm a fan of dark themes myself, and I really like the froyo AOSP theme with the white status bar. Do you think you can make a theme I've been thinking of for awhile I have a lot of ideas nd icons you can use?

Ooh I got a great idea
Make swype full transparent
except for the line and add it a changeable theme to nexus swype
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
as i said before, i dont think the way the swype keyboards overlay that the transparency will work. i will have to look into it a bit more though.
here is a little more playing and refining with different colors.. i think the slight borders will look nice and the transparency on the bubbles is about right. i think making them a little more transparent will be nice for people with dark wallpapers, but might get a little busy/ugly looking with people with lighter wallpapers that have a ton going on, like so VVV
let me know what you guys think about the general button look so far.
@tpike, sending PM in a moment, really appreciate the offer to help a n00b like myself.
background of the MMS is already slightly transparent, what you see in the background is my wallpaper.
@gtuansdiamm, show me exactly what you are looking for and I can try to make something for you.. and let me know what colors you would like.
again, I just figured out how to get these patch 9 dealios to work today, so don't be to critical I love these things now.. SOOO easy.. created, edited, patched and compiled 12 pngs in ~1hr. not to bad!!!
I will try to make a camstudio video tutorial on how to create a patch 9 from scratch. I just downloaded it and had an issue, so ill try again tomm. Starting to be a huge PITA looking at this screen also. I have my computer hooked up to my 52" rear projection TV right now .. my eyes hate me..

^^ ill try to get on that this weekend if i get a chance..
heres the start to my re-vamp'd keyboard for swype, im not just coloring it, i am re-designing the buttons and using the smooth font in RandomKings ROM.
the 14 different pngs for the keyboard will keep me budy for a while, but since i will be saving PSDs of each one, i will be able to fully customize colors and the look of the button (bevel, shadow, etc.) quickly and save them all to PNG, recompile apk and voila, new swype look in less than an hour...
i can also post any PSDs i create for those interested in taking this on themselves as long as you credit me with the PSDs
This Is looking good dude!
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G.
thanks.. I think I am going to add some subtle gradient to the button itself, but not so its to flashy and eye burning.. not quite like the dark horse theme with the glassy look, more subtle.
I am going to keep the .psds so i can easily modify the look of the buttons if someone wants something different. these PSDs are going to end up being like 100 layers a piece.. at least the layout of PT and LS are pretty much the same for the button layout!
For the MMS, I am also going to try to modify the look of the top 'contact background' and the compose line background to match the respective theme.
alright!! sorry for the week or so hiatus!! I HAVE been trying to find time to work on this..
I just spent a couple hours getting the 9 patch tutorial together and posted that up.
I started working on an Actual theme that should be complete by tuesday. This will be a blue/black theme with gradients.. the send message for example will have a blue top/ black bottom and the receive will be black top/blue bottom. the shades of blue will differ slightly. This should cover the blue/black theme. The bubbles will be slightly transparent and less transparent when pressed.
Some other theme mods will include the 'NEW MESSAGE background, text input background, contact header background (within message stream) contact PRESS background within overall message area, the 'slide for call and message' (left and right) will be darkened slightly to more match the theme.
Next up will be continuing to work on the Swype theme to match the blue/black theme. After everything is complete, creating new themes based on these will be a cake walk..
There hasn't been many votes, but as of right now i will be doing the following themes for MMS and Swype.
Blue/Black
Gray/Black
Purple/Pink
Green/Black
I will be modifying a script and such so these can be installed via a .zip flash and WILL test it on a few phones before I post it up.
Hope you guys enjoy! and I hope this will continue to go decent so I can continue to theme other apps!!

So seeing a total lack of mods around this place I took it upon myself to kang together some things for myself, and am uploading them here for all to enjoy (or not, really doesn't matter to me)
I am not a themer, developer, or anything of the sort. I am a copy and paster. With that being my situation, there are several thanks that need to be given here.
Thanks to:
Vache for the kickass rom
UOT Kitchen. They provided the .xml edits for the accurate battery mod and the flashable zip I'm using
iammodo. He compiled this great collection of softkeys on xoom board
s60mike for the blue circles softkeys
mr_physco. For providing the battery images.
civato For the awesome Flexreaper rom and requested Acer ring icons.

If I forgot anyone I assure you it is because I am an idiot, not because I don't value and appreciate your work.

Batt mods don't work as advertised. Still the stock batt. Other things seem to work though. Well, mostly.

Which one/ones did you try on what rom?
To test I just did a full wipe (wipe data/cache, format system, cache, data, flexrom) and reinstalled taboonay (3.0, then 3.01 update, then wifi fix, then acer ring, then my mods) and it worked great

Well, I might have to eat some words.
I tested 2 of them. I didn't see it on the first mod (#1), but (when things got dark in the room), I could barely see the white numbering on the battery icon on the "reflective". So "maybe" it was working after all. Kinda hard to see the white numbering on the light blue battery.

Just wanted to confirm that these will work on Civato's FlexReaper R9 Rom. At least the droidfont mod will, thats the one I tried. I wasn't expecting the yellow circle at the bottom to access the Acer ring, but all works as it should. Nicely done, and thanks.

karlkarloff above says that the droid font worked with flexreaper. If one of them works they all should, they only difference between each mod is the 5 to 7 sofkey .pngs. Do a backup and if all else fails you can just restore the backup. Give me about 15 mins and I'll add the white HTC ones too.
Edit: Added White HTC to folder

looks about right to me, not sure what you mean by bull eye but if it's related to the acer ring it shouldn't change anything, everything related to the acer ring should be in acering.apk. The only thing my mod replaces is your framework-res.apk and your systemui.apk.
Yea if you look at the pic the greenish/yellowish dot with a circle around it the acer ring launcher used to look different like a grey line.

No, I didn't make any of these, credits are in the op. Search icon there because some tablets have search icon I guess???
Pretty easy to switch in any icons, if you want to link or send me some wouldn't take me a few minutes to resize, rename, and swap in the icons. If you wanted to do it yourself all you need is 7zip and Gimp (actually paint might even be able to handle this). Maybe I'll sit down Friday while I'm off and type up a detailed tutorial.

Almost all system apps except a few I'm adding soon.
Anything you install that uses theme.holo will be themed so that list is endless...Lol
Ok here's a list:
Framework
Systemui
Settings
Mms
Browser
Calculator
Camera
Dialer
Contacts
Documents
Email
Keyboard
Lock screen icons
In call - phone
Gmail
DSP manager
CM file manager "select dark theme"
Rom manager
Swype "has multiple themes to choose from"
Tapatalk
Torch
ADW launchers
Apex launcher
Solid explorer
CM11 theme chooser
Apollo
Desk clock
cLock
Lock widget
Theme chooser wallpapers app "it lets me add 20 wallpapers"
100+ icons
Bootanimation
Caviar dreams fonts
Sounds - Bentley Dubs - Mira - Buzzer alarm
More to come!!!
NOTE: Hangouts, Google music and a few other Google apps will not theme to my standards and will not be included until I feel it looks right. If you ask about it I will send you to this post...
Look in the TeamBlackOut updater for fully themed versions of them.
Google plus is old because the new one won't decode fully so we can't theme it and it looks half baked in BlakKat if I add it. So it won't be added unless I can get more code from it.<-----themed yay!
thank you!

DJ, you might remember I switched from KlearKat to BlakKat recently due to 4.4.3 dialer issue while you get KK going... BlakKat is actually growing on me, but was curious - is there any remedy for apps who's UI doesn't like the theme - eg Minimalist Text just basically blacks completely out on the menus... Some apps just grey out which is still usable (SSHDroid, FTPDroid are examples).
I realize these are not your issues to work on, but short of switching the theme back to default when I need to use these apps, Is there something specific we can ask the devs to add or include so theme(s) don't wash out their apps?

Hmm, well that app is very unusual, I didn't invert any white to black so I have no idea why that grey text is on black. The tabs I know about but are usable but that bg shouldn't change at all. What does it look like on stock?
With this kind of issue I would have to take apart the app to see why.

OK - not a critical issue or anything I just didn't know if there was something UI specific I could mention to app devs or something like that... Here is stock (Holo Theme) it's all pretty much white or grey I guess.. or black in the previews. It's not like I'm in the MimText app every day, more of curiosity than anything .
This is an SSH App, which has a grey wash over everything when themed - still usable, of course just wondered why it does it. The dev has several apps that are similar (SSH, FTP, Samba) and they all do it (with KlearKat also), so it has something to do with the way he coded the apps I suppose...
Didn't mean to infer you need to work on anything, mainly just curious about why/how really .

Looks like I'll be reverting the grey bg for white to fix that grey on grey but the black bg shouldn't change. I have not one spec of code inverting anything on system so this is a weird one.

So Gmail looks totally skinned only on CM11 now, on pacman only first screen is skinned. There's nothing wrong with your Rom, gmail is the issue. Google hard coded gmail reply, new message and vacation responder. So I can't touch it with the chooser or even theme the actual apk. Give Google a big fu for that one.

OP says in his wallpaper thread following:
What will be the impact on battery life after using these wallpapers?
It depends on the device and chipset, we cannot control battery drain completely as these wallpapers perform some heavy OpenGL task in the background. Snapdragon 835 is a battery efficient and powerful chipset so, these are perfect for Pixel 2/XL devices. If you are really concerned about the battery drain, please use All devices version as it is independent on the required library and hence less processing in the background. Although, some users experienced no battery drain and some have it. It is very uncertain and difficult to answer.
Working but why there is too much lag?
It really needs some good hardware so, don't expect them to be running smoothly on low end devices (like Snapdragon 400 and 600 series). If lagging in higher end devices (like Snapdragon 800 series) then, may be some GPU drivers issue. Please report with logcats or contact your ROM developer.
This question may dumb, but...
How to uninstall the already existing Pixel Launcher?

Have you noticed it being heavy on the battery?
I've been switching between lawnchair and pixel 2 launcher (for like 7 days each) and it seems the idle drain on pixel is higher.

Maybe Lawnchair & Pixel consume less battery, I see a slightly additional drain on Nova & Pixel 2.
what exactly? umm, maybe dynamic notifications or notification dots?
