Hey everyone, i am running the zinc 2.1.2 firmware and have ran another one before that and for the past month everytime I click system update i get a fc any ideas of how to fix this? thanks
The ROM you are currently using had ota updates disabled to ensure you don't accidentally unroot your phone. When 2.2 releases you will want to wait for a rooted version and manually update anyway.

Sorry if a new thread wasn't needed but I couldn't find any info on here. I'm usind darkstones froyo with sence and I got an ota update, I've downloaded it and it keeps asking if I want to install it. I haven't yet for fear of messing something up. You know the old if it ain't broke dont fix it. So do you think if I install it it will mess up the custome work he did on the rom or should I be fine? Has anyone els recived an ota update? Thanks for any help.

You won't be able to install it phone will keep restarting.
Hey guys quick question, I woke up this morning to turn my alarm off and there was a message that my update finally arrived. I clicked ok and went back to sleep and thought it would update the phone. I am still rooted and oclf is still in effect my quadrant score was ~2200. System info said 2.1-update 1 and T959UVJFD. I don't think it went through.

You are correct, the update didnt apply itself to your phone.
But from the sounds of it you are rather lucky it didnt. Most rooted users who leave their phone rooted and try to apply the update end up in the Q&A section starting a threadlike "OTA brocked my phone"
I suggest you remove the lag fix, un root, and then search the forums for the post about using launcher pro to force your phone to search for the update.
Conversely, there is also a thread about how to manually install the new update.
Again, you will have to search it out as I cant currently post links.
Hope this helps

I had the same thing happen. I was rooted with OCLF installed, I disabled everything, unrooted, and uninstalled OCLF.
I went ahead and started the update and BAM! "froze" on vibrant screen- good bye! I had to ODIN, and reflash back to stock.
Up to you at this point...good luck.

Yea I didn't get the update, I went ahead and loaded Rom manager and backed up my rooted Rom and used the download section to load the j16 Rom from them and it looks like it loaded and everything I but still doesn't show up in my settings. Still stock

For anybody still waiting impatiently on the update. You may want to consider flashing Fusion 1.1 from the dev section. It is from the update build so you wouldnt need the update, and it is a lot faster and very stable. Read through the forum over there if you are interested. There is a lot of excellent feedbeck. It can be flashed over JFD through clockwork very easily.
What is the best way to update for 2.3.13? I just restored and it keeps saying there is no update necessary at this time.
Thanks Mike
do you mean update TO 2.3.X, or upgrade above it?
If you go to settings--> about phone, what does it say for sysyem information?
If you have removed any quick programs/bloatware, then you cannot get updates. If you can post more information I would be glad to help

I've followed all the steps in this quite awesome forum about rooting my phone and removing bloatware... I want to remove all the garbage apps from my phone but I also hear I won't be able to update to 2.2 if I do?
Could I just uninstall all the garbage and still installed a dev-rooted 2.2 later or do I have to have those in order to update at all?
Help!

You can just wait until the devs make a froyo rom or freeze them using titanium backup and then unfreeze them when offical ota is released if you want the offical verizon ota...

We will in all probability see a rooted, debloated 2.2 rom here before we see the ota.
