First let me say I have searched and have not found a exclamation to why does EVERY rom for the mytouch3g 1.2 or fender the wireless tether does not work because its a problem with a kernel in all the roms. Or did I miss a working rom that allows wireless tether?

yea next time post in the right section - this is not a development issue and certainly not a reason for a new thread
my rom works fine with tethering and supports mt3g1.2 as well - flash the 32b version - link in my sig
it is a modified cm 5.0.8 build
or use barnacle tether in the market. it doesn't require netfilter and works great.
the reason is we don't have all the source code for that model. somehow zinx patched the latest cyanogen releases to work.
or just use barnacle as stated earlier
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
I posted in his rom thread but everyone blew passed it.
Using shubcraft 1.4d I can no longer use wired tether. This was via both the overclock kernal and the kernal that came with the build and I was not able to get wired tether to work.
I did include the tun.ko and bcm file .
Just looking to see if anyone else has had problems.
I want to ask can a kernel cause a screen disorder?
Why am i asking this (according to myself, stupid) question?
Because when I flash HCDR.Jacobs v4.1 or v4.2 kernel on any ROM it causes the screen to flicker and screen becomes snowy while turning on. And when i flash any other kernel, problem disappears.
And, by jacob, that kernel can be flashed to any ROM.
P.S. Can you tell me whats the best kernel according to you for wildfire (include link to the kernel thread please)?
Which ROM are you using?
If you are using CM7, stick with the stock kernel included in it. (nFinity by arco). It's the best one IMO, because arco has optimized it a lot for the Wildfire.
Jacob's kernel v4.2 may cause stability issues because it is clocked at 768MHz OC by default, and, many Wildfire's hang or are unstable at that speed. It's unlikely though why its happening in v4.1, but, in any case, its highly recommended to stick with the CM7 stock kernel as stated.
If for any other ROM, use this one. It's the same as arco's nFinity and Jacob's kernel, but, modified a bit to run on other ROMs

Kernel is something like a bridge between the hardware and software to communicate with each other. Eg: oc kernel allows overclocking.

hey, whats wifi n mode?
Wifi N is a type of wifi networking.
The WF doesn't have support of it afaik.
Which sucks, because my home wifi is n <-<

Thats funny as I'm connected to a WIFI N @150Mbps, which I find strange as the device isn't supposed to be capable of it.
I'm having problems at home, I need to use a pos app >-<
That sucks.

Which rom and which kernel are u using.
Have u manually added the network or does it detect automatically.

Did you have to adjust any settings to make it work? :/
N overclocking means???

We're talking about a wifi connection type, not overclocking...
Hi,
I have a xoom and always use it when tethered to nexus one. I am using the wifi tether built in to the os, not any wifi tether app. I get about 10% of the speed. I did a speednet test on phone and xoom tethered and I got about 3m down/1m up on phone and about 300k down / 100k down on xoom.
Any one knows if there is a tweak I need to do? I am using wpa for encryption.
Is the stock wifi tether slow and maybe I should try a market wifi tether app?
Thanks for any help.
Btw I am on cm7 nightly may 12 2011.
I tries wifi tether and it fails to initialise wife drivers.. so that didnt help.
Thanks

I have the same setup and not having any slow downs. Have you flashed a custom kernel or anything?
Yes. As indicated using cynagon mod 7. Are u stock? What version?
Thanks.
I'm using cm7, I was more curious if you had flashed one of the many kernels available or perhaps a kanged build based off of cm7 nighties which might have a different kernel baked in
Nope. Just cm7 nightly, currently on 165.
I have finally found the best mix of ROM and kernel but with one problem, wifi doesn't work. Whenever I try to go to turn it on it just says error and can't connect. The kernel that I am using is HierOS 1.7.5 kernel mainly because of the smartass governor v2 since overclocking no longer gets my cpu speed stuck at 384. The ROM I am trying to use it on is Cmylxgo's stock desire HD ROM.
Kernel:

ROM:

Any help or workaround would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can try to turn the phone off as soon as you get the error when turning wifi on
And go into Recovery>Advanced >FIX PERMISSIONS
If kernel is compatible it should fix it for you
If not I suggest to find another Froyo Rom like Coredroid 1.6 or 1.7
All works there and it's also Themed so its an eyecandy it works with Hieros Kernel

You need to find another kernel to use. The one you listed is for Gingerbread based ROMs and not Froyo based like Cmylxgos. Is there a problem with using the current Rafpinga 1.9 kernel associated with Cmylxgo's ROM? When I was on his ROM, I never had a issue with WiFi connectivity. I am now using Tytung's Nexus HD2 v3.0 ROM which is a Gingerbread ROM. No WiFi issues as well.
