New software update - HD2 General

Just got a text from Tmobile about a new software update for my HD2. Has anyone gotten it? I have a custom Rom ,hspl 3 so I have to do some research before attempting the upgrade.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

yea im gonna download it..i got stock hd2 soo wait liek 1 hour

Yeah i got the message too. I'm pretty sure this is just a WM 6.5 update but i really kind of want it to be WM 7. I shouldn't get my hopes up though. Anybody who has updated care to comment on the rom?

It's not wm7. I think its similar to the software update European HD2s got. Hopefully this update fixes the crappy keyboard touch responsiveness.

Upgraded to Rom 1.66.405.2(76641)wwe

I'm new to all this Windows mobile being on the Nokia Sybian for the last 10yrs can someone Help i've upgraded to Rom 1.66.405.2(76641)wwe on my HD2 but i've seem to have lost the weather app below the clock. Instead it just says my location. is there any way to get it back.
Also i'm using the stock rom from htc as i'm on Virgin Mobile can I use the cab files for the themes & icons:confused people have made on this site as they look great.
Cheers
Rob
Hi,
I have just bought a HTC HD2 from T-mobile to realise I can't upgrade the ROM through the official HTC website.
I would like to know from Virgin Costumers whether they have tried to upgrade the ROM of their HTC HD2 through the Official HTC website and whether it worked.
I am asking this because I am still on the trial period and also because of warranty issues if I try to upgrade trough another route apart from the T-mobile's...
So, the question is...
Have you got a HTC HD2 from virgin? Have you upgrade the ROM through the HTC website?
Have you turned off the weather tab at the bottom on the Sense bar? If so, you need it back on to show weather...
As for .cabs, etc. any ROM can use them (I think!!)

Froyo 2.2 & HTC Legend

Hi,
Please forgive me as I have been searching everywhere online and on the forum for my answer.
I have a HTC Legend (Virgin) that is unlocked - Running on Rogers.
1st Question: Is this phone Rootable? I have heard yes and I have heard no, based on the firmware that it is presently running.
2nd Question: Is it possible if the phone is rooted to flash a Basic 2.2 Android Rom (I personally don't use HTC Sense)
The reason I am asking as HTC Announced that 2.2 Will not be updated until Christmas time.
And Before anyone says I should have bought the NEXUS One - The reason - THE SIZE
That phone is huge, I previously had an Xperia X10, which was TOO Big and I quite like the build quality of the Legend.
Thanks for all your Help! I Greatly Appreciate it!
Yes the phone is rootable, but you're right it depends on what version you currently have installed. Check out the android development section to figure out what you can and can't do.
Froyo at christmas is incorrect.
Htc has said all current devices will have froyo before christmas. However speculation says the legend itself should most likely have it in or around august.
Next, if you manage to root your phone you can talk a look in the android development section(again) for the legend and you will find 1 or 2 froyo roms have been ported semi successfully. They work and run but have a few minor problems.
One is the cyogen mod 6 (I probably spelled it wrong)thread.
You cannot flash a stock version of froyo to the legend, you will have to use one of these roms.
Hope I could help. I'm looking at getting the virgin mobile legend myself soon. are you happy so far?
Thanks
Thanks for your info! I was just feeling a little overwhelmed with all the info as I am not really up with all the lingo.
To answer your question about the Legend, I love it! The build quality is Superior, it just fits in your hand so nicely, and looks good there as well.
I have had MANY cell phones in the last 5 years (Well over 40...) and this is one that I know I will keep for a long time... More so than the iPhone.
Cheers.

Hey,
To be honest I took it to an Unlocking place in Vancouver, It took them aprox 20 min to complete, It still has a few Apps for Virgin/Bell on the phone however no where does it have the Virgin Logo Etc. I use the Rogers APN Settings rogers-core-appl1.apn and it works flawless with 3G
I have not been able to get 2.2 onto this phone at this point, I may just wait until it's pushed out by HTC.
This sounds GR8!
I'm waiting for my Legend to arrive any day, now...

Do You know what they did to the phone? To unlock it i mean....
I ordered Wildfire but changed my mind and changed the order to Legend...
A good choice i think...
Been using my KAISER for a looong time now and it's time for a retirement, i think
Just installed Donut Android on my KAISER but it soaks battery so i think i have to revert to WM 6.5 again....
I think i'll use it as a backup phone for some time
Does anyone know if tom tom works on Legend?
The unlock was done through the store so not quite sure on how it was completed. I have seen many websites that offer the unlock.
In regards to TomTom try the Google navigation. It's amazing. Works great and integrates with your contacts and the mapping program quite well. I find the voice to be quite rough. Hopefully they'll allow changes to that after its out is Beta.

Doesn't Google Navi go online to get positions?
Could be costly, wouldn't it
I'll try it out though
Tom Tom has the maps in map folder so no online search and so on....
regarding the unlock thingy i guess someone figures it out so we can do it ourselves
Maybe somewhat like the KAISER unlock i guess...

Where did you buy it?
I bought my legend at Virgin (349 CAD) and am running Rogers as well, to unlock it you need to purchased the unlock code from HTC by providing the phones S/N. Their are lots of places online that will provide the codes for $10-20, I haven't been able to find a free source.
Currently their is no software unlock for this phone.

Heard the n1 has already got froyo..i hope it wont be long for the legend & desire
I have the Virgin Mobile (Canada) HTC Legend and can confirm I was able to successfully unlock it for usage on Fido/Rogers. After this I upgraded the rom using a gold card to a stock HTC rom to remove the Bell/Virgin crapware.
After this I found the downgrade path to 1.31 which has successfully allowed me to have the phone rooted. Now I just need to wait for a good rom to be made with sense. So far all the roms I have tried do have their own issues like, camera problems, pinch zoom functionality...

You're posting in the Android Development forum! We're all into rooting our phones and flashing custom roms here!
If you'd like to root your phone and flash 2.1 (or 2.2 now!), then do a bit of reading here and over at theunlockr.com on rooting the HTC Hero. Then pick your ROM and flash away.
If, however, you're looking to stay on a stock ROM, your best best would be to check the T-Mobile discussion forum. It's probably full of people crying out for the T-Mobile branded update, like they were at the tail end of 2009.

if you're stuck on stock 1.5, try this it worked for my mate:
- Settings > time and date
- Untick the automatic time setting
- Change the data forward a year
- You should recieve a pop up after a couple of seconds...

Hi,
I guess they did not yet upgrade. The main link I see is:
http://www.t-mobile.nl/persoonlijk/..._UK_2.73.110.26_R_release_signed_NoDriver.zip
Still the 1.5 For NL anyhow.
Bunt, a few people have mentioned that clock forward method, tried it but no luck. Do u think it maybe because i dont have a t-mobile sim in it wont work?
I cant root my handset as im travelling for a few months and have no access to a p.c without the admin restrictions etc :-(
thanks a lot for your help though.
Really appreciated

Just got update sms from orange UK

Great news. In the next few weeks there'll be a software update available for your Sony Ericsson X10. For more information go to orange.co.uk/helpx10
That was via text. A bit useless but thought I should report it anyway.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
yeah just got that aswell. im already on 2.1 with noric FW lol working fine
Really? Any feedback on that? I'm a bit jaded from my windows mobile days where doing that causes problems. I would go as far to say that my phone is mission critical because it is how my customers contact me etc... but I suppose this is an official ROM. Am I being illogical for waiting for my operators update?
Feedback much appreciated

No problems what so ever, a[[art from random reboots but ive always had that hoped it was a sofwtare issue but now its going for repair seems to be bad batch of ram.
Dont think its actually aby diffrent than any other rom just released in another country first lol
yea i got this txt too but im already on 2.1 nordic
Please discuss any 2.1 topic in the 2.1 thread

[Q] New Focus giving problems

i got a focus off craigslist and its been acting pretty weird. First it wont let me download any apps off the market, (but then i read the zune market is down or something so i let that slide), secondly i won't update. I dont know which version on wp7 im running, all the guy told me is that he factory reset it. So anyone out there, i need some help, also with updating to mango please.
Well all have to say is, its probably already up to date buddy. Go to settings, about, more info and read what os version it is. 7390 or 7392 you're up to date. And about the marketplace it was giving me trouble too.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Oh and if you need help finding your os version I strongly suggest you just wait till the official release of mango.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
If you want Mango, as ihatemyself said, wait for official release. If you can't wait, there are great guides to installing them in these forums. Don't forget to thank the OPs. Although I can tell you, once you go Mango, you can never go back. It's that good! I reverted to NoDo, only lasted 20 minutes! If you are afraid of bricking your phone, just download the official Roms also posted on these forums. I personally prefer the Rogers Rom, because AT&T Rom puts their junky programs and logo. Also, for some reason the Rogers Rom is faster on the web. I abuse my phone on tethering. If you are not tech friendly, stick with AT&Ts, since you don't need to enter APN or change network profiles for it to work. Hope this helps you.
Yeah, my phone is up to date, thanks by the way. And dl you know when the official mango update will be released, sometime this or next week?
No problem man. They're saying the 15th, but that could not be true. It could have been something to get people to stop asking. They pushed the September 1st date back, I wouldn't doubt its a possibility they'll do it again. But we can always hope they stay true this time.
