I'm new to all this Windows mobile being on the Nokia Sybian for the last 10yrs can someone Help i've upgraded to Rom 1.66.405.2(76641)wwe on my HD2 but i've seem to have lost the weather app below the clock. Instead it just says my location. is there any way to get it back.
Also i'm using the stock rom from htc as i'm on Virgin Mobile can I use the cab files for the themes & icons:confused people have made on this site as they look great.
Cheers
Rob

Hi,
I have just bought a HTC HD2 from T-mobile to realise I can't upgrade the ROM through the official HTC website.
I would like to know from Virgin Costumers whether they have tried to upgrade the ROM of their HTC HD2 through the Official HTC website and whether it worked.
I am asking this because I am still on the trial period and also because of warranty issues if I try to upgrade trough another route apart from the T-mobile's...
So, the question is...
Have you got a HTC HD2 from virgin? Have you upgrade the ROM through the HTC website?

Have you turned off the weather tab at the bottom on the Sense bar? If so, you need it back on to show weather...
As for .cabs, etc. any ROM can use them (I think!!)

Vodafone 1.66 Rom

I've just finished a long and extremely helpful conversation with tech support at Vodafone.
He assured me that the new rom is being tested at the moment by a colleague of his at Vodafone in Stoke and when approved will be available for download both from HTC and Vodafone.
He did say that the roms should be able to be downloaded directly from HTC and when I explained that this hasn't been possible with the 1.48 rom he promised to look into it and ring me back.
I await his call.

If I remember correctly, branded ROMs, when released, are available from the HTC support site, but they're labelled as being for a specific supplier. They should accept your serial number for those downloads.
It's a long time since I've had a branded phone, so that's going from not too recent memory

This is for the UK version.
Just upgrade here
I too am a VF customer and I gave up waiting - just loaded HSPL and downloaded 1.66, both from this site. Very easy, no issues. My 1.43 was fine but 1.66 seems a more stable and fast.
Can always remove HSPL and use HTC or VF warranty if needed.

+1 to that! Been using 1.66 for a day or so now and the whole process to flash to the new rom was painless thanks to the help from members of this site.
I think you're much better off taking matters into your own hands with firmware updates when on Vodafone UK, I should know, my last handset was a Blackberry Storm!!

Let's see what we have learned from this call.
1) VF are working on a ROM update - we knew that.
2) No-one's saying when it will be released - no change there.
3) He thinks you can download and use any HTC rom on your VF HD2 as supplied - so he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about and anything he said is therefore worthless.
I will be amazed if he rings you back.

Watch this link for T-Mobile US HTC HD2 Updates.

You should be seeing true t-mobile (US) HTC HD2 updates in this link WHENEVER they are available.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/t-mobile-hd2/downloads/
Ain't it weird that it's not showing the update that's already on T-Mo's page, though?...
I think it's because technically it's a T mobile phone now and HTC probably isn't supporting the ROM updates. It's listed under T Mobile brand on Tmos website, so that is why I'm thinking this. My Touch Pro on Sprint got updates from HTC, but it was listed as an HTC phone.
Well my T-mobile TP2 is on the HTC section of the list in that support section, and the official upgrade ROM that came out months ago still isn't up...so I think it may be a case of Tmo and HTC just having an agreement that Tmo handles it's own update releases. Just a guess though.
has anyone flashed the new rom yet? any bugs? i'm out of town and can't flash 'til i get home...is it worth it?

Tmobile usa update

I got a text from tmobile saying there was a update for my phone, just wondering if anyones done it?
One more here... I will wait little bit more and see if that is in fact new new new update... not the one they released and pulled out due to issue people reported...
Ya I also got the message yesterday afternoon. I knew TMo already had rolled out 2.13 stock rom as I upgraded it from my standard 2.10 stock rom more than 3weeks ago. I am also aware it had issues as reported by many people also to add fuel to the fire for some unknown reason TMo decided to pull the download out making it offline. So thinking this maybe be a new revision of the stock rom 2.13 I desided to check it out and found its the same 2.13.531.1 TMo stock rom.
HTC HD2 Software Update Now Available on T-Mobile.com!

UPDATED: 05/26/2010
Due to overwhelming demand, some customers experienced slow download times when attempting to access the HTC HD2 software update from the T-Mobile Web site. As a result, we temporarily removed the link from our Web site to ensure the best possible customer experience.
Now that we have solved our server issues, we are happy to announce that the software update for the HTC HD2 is now available on the T-Mobile Web site for customers to download and install on their HTC HD2 smartphone.
If you have already downloaded and installed the software update to their HTC HD2, please continue to use your device as normal. You do not need to reinstall the software.

.....For the record people, there was NOTHING wrong with the initial release, T-Mob just had some bandwidth issues caused by all the simultaneous downloads....hope this clears it up.

Froyo 2.2 & HTC Legend

Hi,
Please forgive me as I have been searching everywhere online and on the forum for my answer.
I have a HTC Legend (Virgin) that is unlocked - Running on Rogers.
1st Question: Is this phone Rootable? I have heard yes and I have heard no, based on the firmware that it is presently running.
2nd Question: Is it possible if the phone is rooted to flash a Basic 2.2 Android Rom (I personally don't use HTC Sense)
The reason I am asking as HTC Announced that 2.2 Will not be updated until Christmas time.
And Before anyone says I should have bought the NEXUS One - The reason - THE SIZE
That phone is huge, I previously had an Xperia X10, which was TOO Big and I quite like the build quality of the Legend.
Thanks for all your Help! I Greatly Appreciate it!
Yes the phone is rootable, but you're right it depends on what version you currently have installed. Check out the android development section to figure out what you can and can't do.
Froyo at christmas is incorrect.
Htc has said all current devices will have froyo before christmas. However speculation says the legend itself should most likely have it in or around august.
Next, if you manage to root your phone you can talk a look in the android development section(again) for the legend and you will find 1 or 2 froyo roms have been ported semi successfully. They work and run but have a few minor problems.
One is the cyogen mod 6 (I probably spelled it wrong)thread.
You cannot flash a stock version of froyo to the legend, you will have to use one of these roms.
Hope I could help. I'm looking at getting the virgin mobile legend myself soon. are you happy so far?
Thanks
Thanks for your info! I was just feeling a little overwhelmed with all the info as I am not really up with all the lingo.
To answer your question about the Legend, I love it! The build quality is Superior, it just fits in your hand so nicely, and looks good there as well.
I have had MANY cell phones in the last 5 years (Well over 40...) and this is one that I know I will keep for a long time... More so than the iPhone.
Cheers.

Hey,
To be honest I took it to an Unlocking place in Vancouver, It took them aprox 20 min to complete, It still has a few Apps for Virgin/Bell on the phone however no where does it have the Virgin Logo Etc. I use the Rogers APN Settings rogers-core-appl1.apn and it works flawless with 3G
I have not been able to get 2.2 onto this phone at this point, I may just wait until it's pushed out by HTC.
This sounds GR8!
I'm waiting for my Legend to arrive any day, now...

Do You know what they did to the phone? To unlock it i mean....
I ordered Wildfire but changed my mind and changed the order to Legend...
A good choice i think...
Been using my KAISER for a looong time now and it's time for a retirement, i think
Just installed Donut Android on my KAISER but it soaks battery so i think i have to revert to WM 6.5 again....
I think i'll use it as a backup phone for some time
Does anyone know if tom tom works on Legend?
The unlock was done through the store so not quite sure on how it was completed. I have seen many websites that offer the unlock.
In regards to TomTom try the Google navigation. It's amazing. Works great and integrates with your contacts and the mapping program quite well. I find the voice to be quite rough. Hopefully they'll allow changes to that after its out is Beta.

Doesn't Google Navi go online to get positions?
Could be costly, wouldn't it
I'll try it out though
Tom Tom has the maps in map folder so no online search and so on....
regarding the unlock thingy i guess someone figures it out so we can do it ourselves
Maybe somewhat like the KAISER unlock i guess...

Where did you buy it?
I bought my legend at Virgin (349 CAD) and am running Rogers as well, to unlock it you need to purchased the unlock code from HTC by providing the phones S/N. Their are lots of places online that will provide the codes for $10-20, I haven't been able to find a free source.
Currently their is no software unlock for this phone.

Heard the n1 has already got froyo..i hope it wont be long for the legend & desire
I have the Virgin Mobile (Canada) HTC Legend and can confirm I was able to successfully unlock it for usage on Fido/Rogers. After this I upgraded the rom using a gold card to a stock HTC rom to remove the Bell/Virgin crapware.
After this I found the downgrade path to 1.31 which has successfully allowed me to have the phone rooted. Now I just need to wait for a good rom to be made with sense. So far all the roms I have tried do have their own issues like, camera problems, pinch zoom functionality...

You're getting it from T-Mobile...in the US? Then it will be the T-Mobile version...they don't sell both.
The T-Mobile version is easy to identify because it says T-Mobile right across the top. If it doesn't say that, it's the Euro version (or perhaps the obscure Telstra/Australian version).
