Just got update sms from orange UK - XPERIA X10 General

Great news. In the next few weeks there'll be a software update available for your Sony Ericsson X10. For more information go to orange.co.uk/helpx10
That was via text. A bit useless but thought I should report it anyway.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

yeah just got that aswell. im already on 2.1 with noric FW lol working fine

Really? Any feedback on that? I'm a bit jaded from my windows mobile days where doing that causes problems. I would go as far to say that my phone is mission critical because it is how my customers contact me etc... but I suppose this is an official ROM. Am I being illogical for waiting for my operators update?
Feedback much appreciated

No problems what so ever, a[[art from random reboots but ive always had that hoped it was a sofwtare issue but now its going for repair seems to be bad batch of ram.
Dont think its actually aby diffrent than any other rom just released in another country first lol

yea i got this txt too but im already on 2.1 nordic

Please discuss any 2.1 topic in the 2.1 thread

R1FB001 released via SEUS

Just updated my unbranded swedish X10i to R1FB001, via SEUS!
Any noticeable differences? and how did you manage to do it?
Germany, device by o2, unbranded, no new software via SEUS.
Pics or it didn't happen.
And perhaps u can upload your firmware and give us some infos about the improvements if there are any...
Nothing from SEUS in Sweden, Telia X10.... Still, could take a few more days for branded phones to be updated.

Well, it worked here. Used update service and now i have it

Im using a sim-free unbranded her in the UK and I downloaded SEUS and nothing happened here. I have a feeling it might be like the n900 where it is staggered to different time zones.
If it has worked tobv83 can you comment on what has and hasnt worked.

It did happen. But not with PC Companion, who showed i had the latest version. I updated through the standalone Update Service program.
No Creatouch app after the update! The device feels a little bit quicker, through MS and TS
I got R1FB001 via davinciteam on my Rogers x10 and I do not have creatouch. The differences are somewhat better camera (http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink), faster media and timescape and the pictures don't have to be 8mpx to show up clearly in contacts (not sure if this was an issue for everyone but on my Rogers x10 all my contacts had blury contact pics unless they were taken through the camera). Battery life seems the same. Nothing has improved it better than the powercycle after charge tip. I get at least double the battery life by doing this... no idea why.
which country you in??

Just updated my unbranded swedish X10 to version R1FB001 via Update Service!
So i think he could be in sweden, perhabs
@gmarcoux
nice pictures, but are you sure you will post your family pictures in the net ?
i wouldn´t do it, there are enough...ill people in the world, who like such pictures very much.
I for myself do not post the pictures of my children in the internet, but thats only my opinion, it has not to be yours, i don´t want to bother you or make you angry. Just my opinion.
I appreciate your concern and am not offended. It just happened to be the pictures I took and I can easily lock them via picasa.
Not available in the UK yet.... (tried using PC companion and standalone SEUS.)..
i got rogers x10a debranded and i just tried the SEUS and nothing. so i guess we gotta wait for this update.
Keep in mind that it might not be possible, or take longer to root your phones if you update.

R2BA023 in the UK?

Has anyone in the UK managed to get this firmware? If so how?
Don't think its out in the uk yet but I got the generic rooted version from xda!

Still waiting myself on Vodaphone UK, not rooted of course.
I couldn't wait so I went and rooted my Vodafone.. all good except I swear the fone has restarted a few times... and IMHO its not any quicker and haven't seen much improvement in battery :-(
I say wait for the update.. unless the bootloader gets cracked first ;-)
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
You don't need to do anything as dramatic as rooting to get the latest update.. you just need to debrand/ unbrand your phone.. which is easier, and allows you to stay on the "default" SE upgrade path without major faffing about each time!

Hi, just search "debranding" within the x10 forum, there's a few good threads to choose from.
My phone was purchased unbranded, so not had to go through that pain!

Got this from Sprint today on their forums

got this from a "sprint rep" on their forums

I apologize for the frustrations associated with the current issues with the GB release... Please know that we are aware of many of the issues people are experiencing and are working with HTC to resolve them. Although I don't have a time frame now, they will be sending out a patch to resolve issues associated with your device.
SOOO take it for what its worth and maybe there is a hair of hope .....

I had a prompt to download an update today. I skipped cuz I'm still holding out for root on this update that I'm on. I'm not actually having issues other than I can't root...
sent from my 2.3.3 unrooted piece o ****....
I was also prompted for an update today, after just being prompted for the GB update the other day. I was hoping maybe they were being true to their word and unlocking the bootloader.
It was a rather lengthy update process with two reboots involved.

Not to sound like a douche, but I think it's pretty obvious that Sprint & HTC plan on releasing an update that would fix the problems presented with the GB update.
There was the 4.22 update,GB
Then the 4.24 update,GB fix,
Are you guys saying there is a 3rd update being pushed?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm wondering the same thing...I've already had two updates. I took both of them because I like my evolution stock, only reason I ever rooted my hero is because Sence made it sluggish.
Sent from my SPH-P100 using Tapatalk
at this point in time....i am not confident that we will have any sort of solution in the near future, we will simply have to deal with this horrible android version of gingershitbread, i never tought id hate the awsomeness that is an EVO , but currently...i kind of do, clearing user data, resetting, done it all, it still sucks arse and glitches half the dam time, its horrible, if id have known i would have stayed with stock 2.2 (not because of root but because it actually friggin functioned better)
I waited a couple weeks and did the rooted stock rom, 4.24
Have had no issues after a full week of use.

the more i think about it you think he said that just to shut me up and so the sprint forums dont get filled up with posts about it ??? I dunno; like the corp store told me; "as long as you can make and recieve calls there is nothing wrong with your handset"
IT suxx to be stock its like having a maseratti that only goes 55MPH

You are lucky, on the Sensation forums there was a guy who bought a Sensation and got by accident an eng off, rooted phone whilst the rest of the world was stuck with a locked bootloader.
I guess for devs your phone could be worth more than what you paid for it
Well maybe am lucky. I was wondering really why i get the update before everybody. The last time was xxkh5 which samsung manage to change to a dummy update. But this time i have learnt my leason .
what provider you you have? csc?

Do a system dump of the firmware!!!!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
We think that these updates are only meant for Samsung staff and some how your phone got added to the list of test phones -- it explains why you and nobody else gets them.
My guess this happen because you installed a leaked firmware from samfirmware.com. Remember these leaked firmware could be test builds for internal staff use only. May be something happened on this leaked firmware that got your phone added to the list of staff test phones.
Are there any new great and wonderful features you can see in this update? (It could be months and months before they release any updates for the rest of us!)
Tweet from Samfirmware.com: First roms with Android 2.3.5 for Galaxy S II will be online this month.
Robbielicious has got the leaked firmware, but it's not yet ready for release: "in my possesiosn but in my believe not worthy o releasing just yet"
Darky's crew are now working with Samfirmware.com (i9000 version released about an hour ago) so I imagine the i9100 version will be released as soon as it is ready.
The ki1 update
The update is quiet good. The new goodies on the update are something
1. on the top where the 3g is , we have h+ and R . It really helps me a lot because formally when i visit our basement at my working place i normally lost connection. after i have to reboot my phone but in this case no more rebooting. The batterie life is very amaizing. Internet super fast.
Thanks samsung for the great work done.
What a joke dude!

ICS just around the corner and GB is STILL not out!
Hopefully it will come with a new radio which can sort out my random battery drain problems.
Despite trying various radios, my battery seems to lose 3%+ per hour when sleeping so with very light use, a charge only lasts a little over 24 hours. I can only assume the problem is the radio as running Watchdog doesn't indicate that there are any rogue apps. I've tried recalibrating the battery to no end either.
As a matter of interest, which radio are other UK users trying at present? I'm currently on 1.77.30.

Exactly, ICS will be out for AT&T before we even get GB here in the UK. I reckon it could be a while yet as our respective service providers have to add all of their bloatware to it.

I haven't got a branded atrix so that shouldn't be a problem for me. But I don't know what I'm doing yet. Because if I restore my stock atrix I could potentially lose root and my unlocked bootloader. Meh the decision .....android is a God damn disease.....must have the new update!!!!! Lol

To be fair Orange dosent appear to have overly bloated it (for a change) Orange Wednesday and an account checker, however seeing as that is available on the market I cant see why it would be an issue, the only other thing I can see is the addition of AP's etc, but again that should all be automatic anyways.......
Orange always claim they need to test it with their network etc but I recon 2 or 3 weeks after it's released we ought to get it *he hopes*
i find it puzzling that the milestone 2 which is older than the atrix is getting the gb update at the same time. Great news for both of our communities. But time and time again...what the hell are Motorola doing with all there time???? lol
I put a question to Motorola via the facebooks, and they said the update will come out at the same time for orange / t-mobile branded phones as it does for unbranded phones.
Of course given the delays to date I suspect the mid-November date will slip, but we shall see
I've got a Tmobile UK Atrix which I've rooted , unlocked the bootloader etc....
Is it possible to get this phone back to a state where it can be upgraded or will I need to wait until somebody does their magic and creates a CWM image to flash?
I'm really unsure how this works as I've seen many warnings about NOT reverting to Froyo if running GB.
Has anyone tried this?
I'll believe it when see it -Moto talk a lot a Kak.
Roll on the Nexus & I can dump the Atrix

If it's a gingerbread rom flashed through recovery you should be fine. Its just the SBF file to be wary of. If you've flashed a gingerbread SBF don't flash a froyo SBF. or you will get a hard brick.

For sure you will loose Root access but you can get it again under Gingerbread.
Regarding the Bootloader I believe that it's a little bit different and I guess when you have unlocked it you can't go back!
If someone more confident can confirm?

Yeah probably. But it's not a huge issue rooting and about the bootloader. I wouldnt of thought it would touch it. But knowing Motorola they will screw us over. Lol

FYI:
Retail update has been released today in the UK, and (if Motorola are to be believed) T-Mobile UK and Orange UK updates will be released within a week.
OTA servers are apparently running behind but updates can be updated using Motorola's Software Update software.
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/512793#512793
with luck Orange will have a working copy of "Your Orange" this time too....bloody thing tells me to update then I get "Package not signed" and their CS department are hopeless
Next week is better late than never I suppose
Orange UK update released via Motorola Software Update tool (v45.31.0)
I'm updating now..
Thanks for the heads up - I've just updated my sons Atrix & all went OK.
Seems to run fine on GB 2.3.4 although only tried for an hour or so as it's gone back in the box ready for Xmas
After all of this I have decided to sell my atrix....even bought a play and work kit. But its just not doing it for me. Lol
I appreciate everything all the developers do. But the forums just seem so quiet, even compared to my old desire, that forum is s**t hot still. LOL. It is a shame though as this phone had some amazing potential.

I know how you feel. The Atrix forum, I felt, was never the most helpful of places. When I had my htc DHD, that forum was much more helpful.
Anyhow onwards & upwards - My Nexus came the other day so my Atrix is gather dust, probably chuck it in the bin shortly.
