I just flashed bionix 1.9 ocuv w/ voodoo and it's pretty awesome except that nothing can get superuser now. Worked fine a couple times, now superuser crashes if anything tries to get permission or if I click the "super user" thing in the app list. Anyone have any idea what's up?
Haven't heard about or experienced this problem before. I was using Bionix 1.9 and am now on Fusion 1.1. Both have been really great, stable ROMs and are reflective of the quality, performance, and customer responsitiveness standard that Samsung should strive to meet in their future ROM releases.
It you are still having the problem after rebooting, perhaps redownloading and reflashing Bionix will help. I know it goes without saying, but be sure to disable voodoo first.
Edit: I will add, that I first tried a OCUV kernal and my machine kept having random FCs after running for some period of time. Since moving back to a non-OCUV kernal, Bionix has been great and stable for me.
Good luck!
Try running a "Fix Permissions" in RomManager, and then reboot, if it gripes about root access, open SuperUser first, hit the home button then open RM and run fix permissions ...
Hope that helps, only happened to me once but that is what fixed it ...
I ended up downloading a SuperUser app from the market and installing it and it's been fine since. Kind of a strange problem but hey...whatever. lol Everything is fine right now and my phone is running like a top. Love it!!
Thanks guys!!
Im running the same without voodoo and have never had the problem with su. Is fusion much different than 1.9 FINALE? What is different?
VibranT Bionix
Fusion 1.1 removes TouchWiz stuff, and uses LauncherPro instead. It is MUCH faster, has better battery life, and people are Flashing the JI6 modem over the JI2 and posting over 24 hours of battery life with moderate usage.
Some don't even use a LagFix with Fusion.

Well I went with fusion from Bionix 1.9 and yes its just a tinch better don't know if it was worth losing my killer adw set up but I am addicted to flashin ROMs x) and am I in the clear to delete the 1.9 file now? And vibrant9 ha ha

I've been hearing a lot about a ROM called Baked Snack and have tried to do some research on it to no avail. I would like to know more about the latest version Baked Snack 1.3 but am unable to. Has anyone tried this? How is the battery life/performance?
Thanks,
P.S. Hope this thread survives, I know it seems to be a touchy subject on XDA.

Already been to the website. It gives me facts about what is removed and what is added to the ROM but not any kind of opinion on it, which is what i'm looking for. I know some of you use it. Any useful input would be great.

I'm using it. Works pretty well. Has some issues (what ROM doesn't?). Mostly the Launcher (doesn't matter which launcher) will crash and you have to push the "Force Close" button. It then recovers almost instantly and is fine for awhile again.
Honestly, even though it can run at 1.3GHz and you can surely measure the difference in benchmark, I really don't notice any difference in speed. Maybe some very resource demanding app might be faster on this ROM as compared to the stock ROM, I just didn't notice any lagging on either ROM.
Slingplayer doesn't work just right as often the sound and video isn't synched, but apparently the problem isn't the slower processor speed as the performance is the same at 1.0 and 1.3 GHz.
I must say I'm kinda miffed at Hero (the developer) as he has a website with a forum. You have to donate to gain access to his forum which I have. I cannot get him to respond to my requests to grant access to his forum. I'd consider donating more that the minimum but not until he starts responding and allows me access to his forum.
i used it for a while. its pretty sharp, totally themed with a black/green concept. very fast, snappy ROM. my phone kept freezing when OCed to 1.3 but runs like a champ at 1.2.
i switched to bubs aosp magic 0.4.1 to try out the more stock aosp android feel but kept the baked snack kernel for a while.
i actually then ran some linpack tests and switched to phoenix 1.4.3 to compare and the phoenix just barely edged it out with those tests (also OCed to 1.2) which surprised me!
overall i really liked the baked snack ROM, VVM works fine (doesnt on AOSP ROMs) but it was time to try something else out. i'd give it a shot, i might go back to it at some point it really is a cool ROM.
EDIT: i never had launcher or anything else FC on me, was very stable.
Thanks for the replys, have you noticed anything about battery life? I'm getting currently around 16 hrs with light to moderate use using fluffkernel ver. C.
I'm running a modified version of 1.3 with the mix up kernel. Its the most stable combo I have tried. I got a couple more bus to work out and then I will be releasing my version to the public

I use 1.3 and nothing force closes on me. Battery life is pretty good for me....I'm on my phone ALL the time and it lasts about 12or so hours. Personally, im stable @ 1.3 and if speed is your thing i get an avg of 10.5s on Linpack with the highest being 10.9xx...all in all is pretty good but everyone has there preferences. One more thing i will say, i don't agree without his forum setup/donation but hero has replied fairly quickly to me

I just reverted back to DJ05 to test voodoo sound, color, and lagfix and I must say it's amazing. I hadn't really messed with voodoo until superclean 2.9 EB01 and it was ok but nowhere near as fast as DJ05 with voodoo. With EB01 I wasn't experiencing that snappiness that everyone is talking about but now I know. The headphone amplifier in the voodoo lagfix is AMAZING and lets me use my Klipsch Image S4's to their fullest. I don't think I'm going back to FroYo until the source code is released and awesome custom kernels like the one I'm on now get developed. Sorry if this is a pointless thread I'm just super excited and amazed.
For those interested in trying it out there are links below. Be sure to wipe data/cache and dalvik cache. If this is your first time using voodoo do not use this post as a reference. I do not want to dedicate this thread as a voodoo how-to because I have only been on voodoo for a week and I am inexperienced. Search threads to find a voodoo how-to thread and come back once you figure it out (it's easy). This is for those on froyo who have not yet experienced true voodoo custom kernels or simply just want to return but can't find good links.
Good things I've noticed.
-Snappier.
-Instant GPS lock!!!!(Just realized this). I know it didn't work on DJ05 before.
-Higher Quadrant scores.
-Market is smoother, apps download and install way faster.
-Good battery life. going on 12 hours now and still at 63% (Would be in the 40's on EB01). This is with the screen on full brightness!! On EB01 I had the brightness always at the lowest setting.
-Messaging is less buggy. Messages I send are received every time.
-SD scan is faster.
-Boot is faster.
-Sound amplifier/driver is amazing!
-AMOLED screen looks better overall.
-Better signal/speed.
Bad things I've noticed.
-Swype is being a pain. Said my trial expired. Other methods of reinstalling it I've used before aren't working. Swype beta says trial expired also when I try to install. To fix this see below.
HOW TO FIX SWYPE:
1. Download a swype.apk WVGA resolution from the interwebs. (Can't post it here)
2. Change your default keyboard to any keyboard other than Swype.
3. Using root explorer, go to system/app/ and delete Swype.apk
4. Go to system/lib and open the search method in the menu and type in Swype. This will search for any files containing the word Swype. There should be two of them one of which is swypelibcore.so and I forgot the other. If you don't see either of these then you are fine to continue to the next step.
5. Install the swype.apk you downloaded earlier and let it do its thing. If it says your device isn't supported you downloaded the wrong swype. It needs to be WVGA because that is the resolution of our device.
6. If you get force close after installing, restart your phone.
-Lower MFLOPS benchmarked with Linpack.
-Cant use FPSe(New Playstaton emulator on market), it's for 2.2+ =(.
Please, please only try this if you are comfortable with flashing. I am not responsible for those who mess up their device by lack of research on the topic.

Hmmm, I think I'd like to test it out to see what it's like. I never ran DJ05, mind posting the goods for me?
having spent extensive time on both...djo5 with voodoo does not outperform ebo1 w/ voodoo...while ebo1 v5 is not optimal obviously as its just the stock kernel w/ ext4...its pretty stellar
im sure some people would agree with you, but personally..i dont
and really if dj05 v5 was so much better...wouldnt we all still be on it?
I must agree with N17 after I recently did a factory data reset and reloaded DJO5 and used it for a few days i went back to EB01 I did notice that with my reset I loaded minimal apps and no wall papers and very few widgets on my home screens I am now using the same battery charge for 24 plus hours I am very happy also sc2.9.1
Well, without even having tried, I am now not going to bother...N17 has definitely proved himself around here in my book, and if he says it does not outperform, then it does not outperform and it would be a waste of time. SO thanks for the input guys.
Just my observations...don't get me wrong I love EB01 but its so buggy and I was not experiencing the snappiness I am now. The market apparently loads way faster with less issues, apps download and install faster, SD scan is faster, battery isn't bipolar I've had less drop in battery than on EB01. The color fix is great and the sound is amazing. To me right now being on DJ05 is way more worth it until custom kernels for EB01 are released. Other things I've found to be better are people receive my texts all of the time and better reception.

I'd go back simply for the sound fix, because most of what I do on my droid is music-related, but I'm too lazy at this point.
Crazy to think how long we've had leaked Froyo, and Verizon still doesn't have an official update out.
I am on SC 2.9.1 voodoo. Reverting to DJ05 voodoo sounds like an interesting exercise, if it does not cause the bricking of my Fascinate. Hopefully, the OP will eventually be edited to clearly describe how one might execute the change, including all steps. I feel comfortable with Odin and CWM, but I get confused regarding what modem, kernel, baseband, etc to flash, and in what sequence. Looking forward to a step by step description of how to go from SC backwards to a DJ05 ROM..

Well, I am.
Voodoo Sound and BLN are essential. Go SirGatez go.
Yeah, I personally prefer DL09 over EB01 for a number of reasons, but I hate that I'll no longer have access to flash and certain apps. That's pretty much the only reason I'm a bit hesitant to go back to DL09. I admit that I have gone back a couple of times because battery life is better, Voodoo Sound is amazing, and there are tons of overclocked kernels, and it's faster (especially if you use a Blazed Eclair kernel). I've never bothered going back to DJ05, however, since I started using the official DL09.
Why isn't flash on 2.1!? If it was, I'd drop EB01 in a heartbeat.

So I odin'd back to dl18, got the ec05 update. Rooted with clockwork 2.5.5. Flashed twilightzone 1.0.3 kernal. Installed setcpu, overclocked to 1.2 ghz (1200 max, 100 min on demand). Got spare parts, set transitions and animations to fast. Go launcherpro, just cause I've been using it the past couple weeks. And there you have it! Ya, im similar, and I'm liking EC05.
Just running Genocide at 1.2GHz and using the Clean SprintID. Not even bothering with LauncherPro or any widgets. I like having a phone that actually works properly and gets good battery life. Everything is going great. 4G, Tethering, GPS all seem to work for the first time. I just want an AOSP lock screen and a battery full/notification killer patch and I'll be happy.
Kinda getting tired of all the custom ROMs. It's been a pretty crappy experience running hacked up Froyos on this phone all the time, and I'm sick of constantly losing all my data.
I am really looking forward to a more functional CyanogenMod port.
Have you tried aosp lockscreen for eb13? I was tol if your deodexed, most eb13 stuff should work...

Agreed,
I'm using stock EC05 with the new genocide 0.5a kernel which he made EC05 compliant. Added SetCPU to play with the profiles and squeeze a little more battery out of it. Using LauncherPro cause I'm used to it. I can easily get through a full day of moderate use without a charge and still have 40% left when I go to bed. Really happy with the phone, EC05, and the Genocide kernel. (wish it had a nicer name though)

The clean ID is basically just pure stock froyo. It's pretty nice.
The other thing I forgot to mention is that it is nice to not be forced to use unjournaled EXT 4 like on a couple of the custom ROMs. wireless tether makes the phone crash on many occasions and when running ACS I would lose a lot of data each time, particularly my LauncherPro settings.
im using ext4 but i prefer journaling on anyway.. im using nubecoders kernel because genocide doesnt work with ec05 unless its deodexed. which im working on deodexing right now, but until then.
Genocide 0.5a works on odexed roms. That's how I'm using it.
Edit: it might not work with ext4 and odexed though.
yea it doesnt work on ext4 and odexed with ec05
This is the second time I flash my Vibrant with a ROM from TW's I used nero v3 for about 3 days before I killed my phone trying to flash the JL5 file. Since I'm a noob on this I started reading users comments and rules on flashing. So I went on the hunt for a good stable ROM for my phone since the stock 2.1 is kind of crappy and laggy. After two days. Searching on XDA I came across another Team Wiskey ROM from the bionix series (Bionix v 1.3.1). This ROM is way more stable than Nero, everything works great, no problems with connection or apps, and even though im not using Voodoo the benchmarks are really good at 1400. I still have a lot to learn in flashing and modifications for this kind of phones I'm just glad that this forum is well equipped with information.
Some pics of how the phone looks after I get the necessary permission to post them

suggestion, try not to include your personal life into this.
You need more info than just its stable and high quadrant scores.
This wouldn't be considered more than a peronsal experience.
Hope you make a better more organized one.
Also try doing it on newer roms
Bionix v is pretty old.
Thanks for the advice man. Will try the new ones once I get more info and practice

No problem, give things like... Battery life (make sure you say if your using it light, moderate, or heavy) how the theme looks, how fast it is, any FC's or any problems at all you experienced, and i wouldn't rely on Quadrant.
Most importantly, at the top of every review put "THIS IS A PERSONAL EXPERIENCED-ROM AND EXPERIENCES WILL DIFFER" or something or when you say you got like 60 hours of battery and others get 16 hours... everyone's going to be real pissed at you.
I started a similar thing a month ago, text/video reviews, soon i got hooked into a rom and couldn't move on, so the thread went dead, and i kept the rom, being a reviewer is hard. Everytime a new ROm is out, you must review it, every update etc.
Very good tomorrow I'll post a full review of this rom, I'll PM u to let u know when I post it.

What are the major differences with Nero vs Bionix V? I'm currently running Bionix V (w/ TW) and its awesome minus the battery life. Here are my list of issues:
- Sometimes the wifi antenna doesnt like to turn on from the notification bar. Have to manually go to settings. 4 out of 10 times.
- Sometimes when using wifi, phone call quality is horrible. Rare though but does happen only when i receive calls. RARELY though....
- Launcher Pro appears frozen at boot. Have to open task manager and restart Launcher Pro. Dont think its a the rom though.... Happens everytime.
But an awesome ROM! One question I have for you all...... Any other TW based roms out there that are anywhere close to as smooth as Bionix V worth trying? Thanx!
What's up guys. I flashed some roms a few months ago and kinda just stuck with Team Whiskeys Bionix V 1.3.1. It was snappy and had great battery life but after time it seems to have slowed down. I flashed it probably 5-6 months ago. Now its not quite as quick as it once was...kinda seems a little buggy.
So I'm looking to flash a new rom. I'm looking for something that is stable and quick and wont be a bunch of trouble flashing over bionix 1.3.1. Im also running the Overstock kernel if that makes any difference. Let me know things I'll need to avoid if I don't want to brick my phone and what you guys think.
Thanks

I moved on to Phiremod. Enjoying it.
zendroid is the way.
I went from there to the next gen releases for months. I wanted something new to play with so I went to crazy 8 and now project v
I always end up going back to bionix.
I'd recommend OMFGB by roman, very solid AOSP rom.
Try out Project V, has great GPS and battery life.

Me too, I have tried them all and I go right back to Bionix, its fast, great battery, everything works and it has a nice clean design. I love the splash screen no annoying badly designed "themes" or splash screen that look like it was done by a angst teenager. Just a professional highly functional rom. I miss those guys.
Time to move on to gingerbread JVR an Jvs roms are great CM7 2
I went from 1.3.1 to Biffmod. Great battery life and very few minor quirks for me. Have been on it about a month and really liking it. Although I'm still keeping an eye on other ROMs. I feel like I'm neglecting my phone when I don't give it something new!

I like that ^. Its like saying "besides giving me no sex and talking all the damm time, my wife is pretty much perfect." Ahh..sorry no trolling intended its was just the first thing that came to my mind
.....anyways GoodVibe having Overstock don't matter cuz it will get replaced after you flash your new ROM with whatever kernel that ROM comes with but ,since you're moving from Bionix, make sure you disable Voodoo. Try the Bali 1.8.8 kernel if you end up flashing a Froyo ROM that supports it (good battery life). Your gonna have a little more work to do if you go to a GB ROM.
I decided I'm gonna keep Bionix 1.3.1 on my daily Vibrant since I don't have any issues with it and when I get more time try others on my spare Vibrant. If Bionix feels a lil laggy try going to recovery and wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, fix permissions and see if that helps to refresh it or you could always re-flash it to get it fresh again, but I'm pretty sure your itching to try something new. Luck homie.

I've tried some gb roms (Simply Honey, Malice, GingerZen). They are really good performance-wise. I always come back to ZenDroid with DMZ kernel nightly #3 though, fastest and most stable froyo rom I've used. GPS is fantasic also. Very highly recommended.

I moved on to toxic crazy 8 and it was super fast, stable and surprisingly gps was working!! But the overall layout was lacking color and was too dark so I flashed back to bionix
Have you tried this ?? Its fast and stable.

Thanks mrrob...that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I've been out of the loop for a little bit and I don't feel like reading through 25 threads to figure out what rom bugs out when flashed over whatever kernel or vice versa. And I also don't know what roms are stable and user friendly and what are just nuts. I tried TW frost when it first came out and that wrecked my phone. So I flashed back to jfd and then bionix and quit flashing for a while. Too much risk for me I guess.
Its funny...there are so many roms now. I remember just a few months ago cm7 was new for vibrant and the only other real decent roms were trigger, bionix, and azura I think. Just a few and that was it.
Thanks for the info guys. I have a new TW link to check out but most likely I'll fix permissions and dalvik and if all else fails just reflash bionix 1.3.1.
