i used to suffer from SODs with custom ROMs when i had my X1 Xperia ... except for one or two lite custom roms , wich were perfect ...
now i have the Omnia II , i bought it as second hand device , and it had already a custom Rom ( pdaviet ) ROM ... and i had the first SOD yesterday while charging the device over night ... i woke up and found it freezed ...
is it a common bug with custom ROMs with Omnia 2 as it is with the X1 ?
or something went wrong ...
i am thinking of going back to the latest original rom .... is it a good descision ? and should i use the same steps for flashing custom roms ?

I guess that these numbers will just change by flashing an official rom.
All your versions are based on this ROM.
But all the people that I know when they change their roms this numbers also change...
Dear Bro....
I would like to upgrade ROM from 6.1 to 6.5 !!!
Where could I find???? and How to do this....
I 've read at this
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000...0-rom-with-bt-voice-dialing-thai-eng-version/
But still confuse, anybody could explain step by step to do this ????? Thanks
Please sharing experience after upgrade to WM 6.5 , better or worst.
Thanks
load the PC studio, came with phone disk, then click update. sync with computer first. 6.5 is alot better
For official ROM upgrade, it depends on your country.. I think Singapore and Malaysia have it !! ( maybe Poland also.. :S ?? ) .. But personally i dont think u need to wait for the *Official* version as u can find many custom ROMs ( WinMo 6.5.3 and 6.5.5 ) on Modaco..!! Soon we will start seeing them here also..! ..
I am using KSTAN's 6.5.3 Custom ROM on my Omnia 2 as the upgrade want available in my country ( India ) also.. and i am loving it..!!
If u want the WidgetPlus UI from Samsung, then go for Secanny's ROMs in Modaco.. ( cant post a link as i am still a junior poster ).. they are semi-official roms which are a treat to use.. ..
Hope this helps..!!

Hi
U updated to 6.5.3 from modaco?
Wch ROM exactly, ?
And is there the Samsung Touchwiz UI included?
Hows the 6.5 rom compared to original 6.1?
Is it worth upgrading now or wait for official 6.5?
Spain has the 6.5 update officially too as far as I can tell. And the Omnia 2 is sold here with 6.5 in it already.
But I'm much more interested in 6.5.3. There are a few features I have grown to love from my time with the HTC Diamond with a 6.5.3 ROM, and I REALLY want it on the Omnia 2.
I've seen Secany's ROMs, but I can't find any details on them other than they are "semi-official". No list of included apps, functions... nothing.
I really wanna try it, but I don't want to risk flashing my Omnia 2 for the first time without knowing for sure that I wouldn't lose ANY of Samsung's apps and functions

Hey,
1) Yes. I did update from MoDaCo.. KSTAN's 6.5.3 Lite Rom.. ( I tried secanny's ROM 1st, JA1, then got tired with TouchWiz and upgraded to Khunchai's ROM.. that didnt work out for me so well, so went for KSTAN's 6.5.5 ROM, which again had bugs for me in the messaging area and had plugin compatibility problems, so flashed again with 6.5.3 and loving it ever since.. .. Phew.!! )
2) I prefer 6.5.x to 6.5.. Better touch control.. layout seems more *natural* to me.. Overall, i like it !!..
3) Well, i really doubt Samsung India is gonna be out with the 6.5 update soon.. prime reasons being the *not so good* sale in India.. And i actually witnessed it 1st hand as many distributors in my area didnt even know there was phone called "Omnia 2" or "GT/I 8000" .. Plus i see zilch marketing campaign from Samsung.. ..
I would def recommend you to go ahead, try out the different ROMs.. see which works for you..!!
P.S : If you are updating from 6.1, do update your eboot also.. you can get it from secanny's ROMs.. also use the latest OCTANS.. ( i think ver 1.4 )..
Hope this helps.!!

You wont lose any of your Samsung apps or functions.. I have tried many of his ROMs, including the latest ones ( JA1 and the other one which he posted on 25th Jan.. ).. It's totally Samsung's TouchWiz with all the apps, settings which you would have found with the stock ROM.. In the 6.5 ROMs, the settings have a way better layout also..

I think I'm going to wait a little bit more before doing any flashing. Right now my biggest concern is WM 6.5 VS 6.5.3, which I've used before and it is what I want now. I don't think Secany's latest ROM has 6.5.3 (there's no changelog!). Thanks for the answer though! If Samsung takes too long to update the Omnia 2 officially or if they simply confirm they won't update it to 6.5.3 then I will try to flash that ROM

Yeah !!.. Secanny'S latest ROMs are Win 6.5 based, not 6.5.x .. and i really really doubt Samsung would update Omnia 2 to 6.5.x officially..!! ..

Well, Sony is going to officially update the Xperia2 TWICE, so I don't see why Samsung wouldn't. (Source: http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/sony-ericsson-xperia-x2-to-get-windows-mobile-652-653-upgrade-path)
Plus, there's still some markets out there that are going to start getting the Omnia 2 soon (China for example). And the US got it recently. I'd say it's still a quite recent device that could benefit from updates
as on my opinion, the original WM 6.1 would be better, because I found there's always a confliction between the Samsung UI and the WM 6.5,for example, sometimes cannot open the right key menu while reading an sms
I still looking for WM6.1 stock ROM WWE and singapore. Anyone knows any links?
Anyone still has wm6.1 O2 stock ROM links?
Here...I downloaded from this: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=199385
And stocks roms are also here: http://www.samfirmware.com/
Hi guys,
I've been using the forum for a year or so now and it's great!
I'm now the proud owner of an HD2 from O2 UK and I've already updated the ROM to version 1.72.206.3, which I believe is the latest, but what are the differences between this O2 ROM and the unbranded ROM?
I've done a search and can't seem to find anything to answer this question.
Hope somebody can help.
thanks
The unbranded ROM?
Which ROM? Do you mean the original o2 1.43 ROM? Not much difference that you would recognise. The volume slider in WMP renders correctly in 1.72 whereas in 1.43 it looked like a poo stain in a pair of underpants. Apart from that forget it. I just includes all of the camera, SMS and other hotfixes which had been released between the two versions.
Do you mean cooked ROMs you can download from XDA? The world of difference. Select a ROM with the features you want from the ROM section and flash it as per the instructions given.
Maybe over the next year you will read some of the posts. Maybe even learn a thing or two
if you do in fact mean cooked roms. then alot.
for me (an energy user) the phone no longer crashes every day. i can install all the apps i want and not hit the memory usage on the phone. The phone runs alot faster, smoother has better apps pre-installed and i just like it more?
After having read almost all threads from the beginning it seems that ALL branded HD2s are buggy to excess ..............
I use an unbranded one, and while once in a while I had some probs with 1.43 since 1.48 it runs as smooth as liquid nitrogene.
I have also installed SKTools and Pocket Mechanic, LeoCPUSpeed V.3.0, CHT 1.6 (the ultimate stable version till now), Chainfire´s 3D-driver and before any mod or installed app I do a backup. In case a new app causes probs I just revert to sit as before.
No single hardreset necessary till now since I unpacked it.
Honestly: I was heavily tried to flash a cooked ROM once, but I refrain from THAT as soon as I read in the specific threads about the many problems some of the users then have with lock-ups, freezes, bricking. And branded HD2s ARE cooked ROMS !
CHT, Franwella, Jaguaralani, Smaberg, MooNah and the many others (sorry for not remembering ALL names, but ALL are geniousses) offer such nice little mods that there is no need FOR ME to experiment with cooked ROMS.
Also on Freewarepocketpc - when is new app is issued - as soon as I read "does not work on HD2" I abstain from installing till a stable version is issued.
difference between o2 rom and unbranded rom
hi
in o2 rom wifi router is missing
Hi all,
Thanks for all the input so far.
Previous to having the HD2 I had an X1 which I flashed with various cooked ROM's successfully and it worked quite well.
Really, I just need to know what is missing on the O2 1.72 ROM that is on the equivalent stock ROM which I assume is 1.48 and would I benefit from flashing a stock ROM to the device.
Would it let me do this with no problems and would it affect the warranty, if it needed reapair, if I did flash it with a stock ROM or would I have to go back to the O2 ROM?
Hey everyone ,
I m just wondering around if anyone knows where i can get stock winmo 6.5 ver rom for blackstone , i know there;s no build for blackstone {touch hd} ,
coz i m using cloudy's rom so they are pretty much same to stock ,
the main reason for doing that my phone when i try to wake up , the back light stays lit up but nothin else happens so i have to softreset everytime
If somebody knows the solution that would be great help
cheers
Ravage is what you are looking for!
If you are looking for the stockiest 6.5 rom available for the HD, then follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633360. This is the best rom you would find for the HD. By Miniterror.
dont really understand your question.
you say you want a stock rom and that you know there is no stock rom, but that the rom you're using is almost stock.
what more do you want?
sorry for not making myself understandable, as u know htc hadn't released any stock 6.5.x rom for blackstone ,only 6.1 is available, as our developers are comping 6.5 build from other phones like leo etc.
my exact question was is there any clean winmo 6.5.x rom available , so that I can install on ma blackstone . I almost tried every latest rom , but i m not getting enough memory left after installation , except cloudy's and blackstonehenge which i m using right now.
Any idea, or help would be better, thnks guys
you should change this thread's title, it is confusing.
stock rom refers to a rom provided by the manufacturer or a carrier. what you seem to be looking for is a clean or lite rom. that would also be the names you should look for. there are dedicated lite/clean/vanilla roms around, that run manila 2.1 or titanium, that should offer you enough free space and speed, or did you, by any chance, forget to hard reset your phone after flashing. that will make your phone slower with every rom you flash
so i flashed the sense of eclipse 3.8 rom and it worked perfectly the first day but from the second day and on , the phone had random reboots and the accelerometer stopped working !!!! when i play a racing game , the car goes to the right . and when i play the "teeter" game ( from htc ) it says that i have no accelerometer on my phone . what do i do ?? some ppl were saying that i need to find a new kernel . but now that megaupload has closed down it's hard to find one since the links don't work . heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp please. btw i don't want to flash another rom cuz this one is perfect . so could you give a solution that doesn't involve changing rom.
