I keep running into the same problem with my streak. I am on the US 1.6. I repeatedly have a problem with double and triple taps on any keyboard I try to use. Sometimes re-calibrating the screen fixes it, but it comes back. It can take me 10 minutes to enter my email address. It is very frustrating. Has anyone else had this issue or have any solutions?

Hi,
i have an intermittant problem that is getting more and more annoying...
The touchscreen stops working in normal mode (i.e. keyboard not out) but still works when I slide the keyboard out. If I slide the keyboard back in, the touchscreen stops working again!
Has anyone come across this? Is there a microswitch somewhere that isn't being turned on or off or something relative to the keyboard position?
Any help appreciated,
Cheers,
Liamo
yes I'm having the same problem over here and I'm in the middle of a buiness trip. earlier it got so bad I had to hard reset my phone because soft resetting the phone to fix the problem stopped working. so I lost every number I had in the middle of an important trip, costing me money. I'm so pissed. I did nothing special. I have molski's aku 3.2 rom with my own tmobile mms/gprs settings extended rom installed. I had it overclocked to 240 (i thought that was the problem). I had magic button, battery status plugin, aim hacked, mxcalculator, win live messenger, yahoo go!, a couple of basic registry hacks, all installed. let me know if you had anything in common so we can narrow down this problem. this has never happened before even with overclocking so I'm very worried.
I'm having the opposite problem. When I start to slide mine open it stops working.
yea im having the exact problem, i tried opening the phone up and checking all the connections, but no luck.
I'm running Black 2.5 as my ROM, but it's happened on all ROM's, including the Cingular stock WM5 rom. The keyboard just stops working. It comes back sometimes on it's own a few minutes later, and always after a soft reset, but what causes it?
Does this happen to anyone else, and is it a hardware issue, or a software issue?
Does happen to me sometimes. Had one this morning. Not only k/b, but the scroll wheel as well.
Keyborad not responding
Hello,
Have same problem after flashing rom.
I thought that maybe I did it wrongly but also my friend discover this issue.
From time to time external keyboard not responding and on-screen keyboard is working but DEL key is also dead.
Also other buttons like green/red phone keys not respondig.
Sometimes problem disapper automaticaly sometimes I have to reset phone.
Any solution?
Has anyone found information on this problem? I have had my 8525 for about 6 months now and this has happened to me on the original shipped ROM as well as both Black 2.5 and 3.0.1.
It happens usually during texting, and like stated previously, sometimes it comes back on its own, and sometimes it takes a soft-reset to get it working again. I am able to finish the typing using the SIP before soft-resetting.
I haven't paid attention to whether or not the scroll wheel stops working or not. I'll keep an eye out for that. Also I can't figure out what's triggering this problem. It seems very random.
I would start to think it's a hardware problem since I have seen it on 3 different ROMs, but so many of us are experiencing the same issue.
Happens on my Vario 2 sometimes. I've put it down to me using the keyboard whilst the CPU is bogged down too much, and it just doesn't 'see' the interrupts coming from the keyboard I/O controller, and then it loses its sync.
I usually just soft reset at that point, because I can't be bothered to wait and see if it comes back
I have it sometimes when using IM and PIE. Closing PIE and waiting a couple of minutes usually brings it back.
I am running the Vibrant AOSP ish JK2 1.1 Official FROYO Rom and have found no one else in that thread with this issue.
When I get an email notification, vibration/sound, and I press the wakup button, most of the time I get wakeup lag. It is so long that it may show the pattern screen a fraction of a second before timing out and going black again. Normal wakeups are not a problem, just after receiving an email notification. I am running K9 email btw and did not have this issue on the stock rom.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I've heard anyone else with this issue either. Just so I can get the obvious out of the way... are you pressing power and putting the phone back to sleep because the screen is waking up for a second due to the notificiation?
I was wondering if I was causing it myself teh first coupel times but thsi8 never happened on my stock rom. When I get a notification now, I click press the button solidly one time and wait. I am trying different notification sonds etc now just to make sure that isn't causing an issue.
lately my keyboard has been randomly disappearing while using it. The keyboard will just be not there at all or it will just be a big black box. It is still usable when it is the black box, but not usable while it is transparent / not there.
Has anyone else been having anything like this happening to them?
Or does anyone have any suggestions for this issue?
I tried a reboot...nothing...I will try to uninstall some of the latest apps I installed.
-BTW I am not rooted and have not done so yet...
Have not had this issue...although...
...I have had several instances where I will be typing away (feel the haptic feedback and hear the key click) only to look up and find that nothing I typed is registering in the input field. Once it does this, it continues in all applications and even after changing input types (default, dragon, or better keyboard)
The only way I can get it to work again is to reboot the phone entirely.
In an off topic rant...last night I was 10 feet from my router and my phone kept saying I was out of range, even after a reboot. Every other device could connect though..I ended up taking out my SIM card and throwing it in my HD2. My MT4G is now in time-out in the closet for a couple days while it thinks about what it did.
I have had that issue as well with the keyboard...(that is - in addition to the current issue discussed...)...
now in order to keep this thread on topic, I will PM you about your other issue...I have a suggestion for it
It seems my phone has a problem of ghost touch. The status bar slides down automatically and randomly. I turned on developer mode to see what happened, it seems, some coordinates near (320, 0) are clicked very often with no reason at all. It annoys me a lot since it interrupts my normal operation. Did someone has the same problem? And how do you solve it? Thanks
I had the same issue. top right of my screen would think it was being touch when it wasnt.
Yes, my wife's ph-1 has this issue. the ghost touches liked a bunch of Instagram posts, it was hilarious seeing my wife's reaction to this, and then she had to go back and unlike a bunch of crap posts.
But this is an issue and very serious one. I believe this could be also causing battery drain if it interacts with OS and causes deep sleep not to kick in when it should. If the issue happens again I will be contacting support to get this BS sorted out.
I have this issue on the oreo beta although it will keep touching the same spot continuously for about a minute or so and if it happens while the phones locked i cant do anything till it stops luckily its been happening less and less often
I had this happen on one phone but not the others, worse when the phone got hot
i think it's the screen, if you look closely, its not flat. Mine is kinda wavey at the edges, like there's a little too much adhesive, and i think that waviness gets worse when the phone gets hot, and causes the phantom touch

It was gone for 3 days and now the problem is back today. I tried to restart in safe mode and problem is still there so it is a system issue, not caused by third party app.
Same issue here. No rhyme or reason I can see as to why
Mine was happening on my old PH-1 without the earpiece screen, but i got the new version i got has no issue.
This issue is very annoying I'm thinking of returning the device to Sprint and getting another but since it happens so random I wouldn't even be able to show them the issue. Thought it was an issue with the oreo beta but after going back to stock I still have the issue starting to regret buying this phone
I've never experienced this issue on mine
Bump. Been happening to me on Oreo beta. About once or twice a day it happens. I just lock and unlock the phone and it stops. It's weird. I think it has something to do with the screen sensitivity. It's more prone to happening when the device screen is all smudgy or if I just washed my hands.
I have the same issue too.

Me too
Same issue here as well. I did the touch sensitivity trick as well and still getting it. Hope its a software issue and not a hardware one.
I haven't encountered ghost touch but encountered slow responding touch issue. Sometimes the touchscreen will respond to my command slower like 3-4 secs after i touch the screen. Every time this issue appears, a restart of my phone will clear it. Very likely software issue. I'm still on nougat, hopefully they fix it on Oreo before it goes out of beta.
My first PH-1 would become touch unresponsive for 30+ seconds all the time (it was fully updated at the time). It seemed to happen more frequently when I was typing on the stock keyboard. I eventually returned it and bought another several weeks later. I've had no issues with the new one-quite happy with it. I'm running the Beta2 update and enjoying it.

That's good to know. Mine also happened when using the keyboard occasionally as well. I have a replacement set coming as my original set's packaging did not come with the pull tab on the box and there was a fingerprint smudge at the back of the phone when i took the phone out of the box the first time. I presumed mine was a used/returned set, not new as what i had ordered. Hope the new set fixes the issue.
My phone has the same issue whenever I'm charging it and using it at the same time it's registering multiple touches when I'm using just one finger on the screen, it mostly happen when I'm doing a long press action. In developers option I have show taps enable so I'm able to see all ghost touches.
I fixed my ghost touch issue with a simple hard reset.
It will come back sadly
