Was curious if this affecting wireless tethering as well:

That enables the 3G hotspot on your phone.
Enabling the hotspot will turn off the wi-fi on a stock DInc while the 3G hotspot is active. I mention this in case you were asking about wi-fi tethering.

I recently rooted my EVO 4G and downloaded the wifi tethering app. So, a couple questions. 1. Is this an ad hoc network? 2. I dont think ps3 supports ad hoc networks, so is there a way to connect my laptop to my phone and have the laptop act as the AP (non ad hoc).
Nevermind, figured it out. I guess the android wireless tether app is not ad hoc. As my ps3 was able to connect. Worked extremely good by the way.
How did you do it? I need to test it with my G2 but with my slide the ps3 didn't even see the signal from my phone - or if it did, it didn't up on the connection list after scanning.
Use calk sprint hotspot hack works flawlessly

And how would you change the NAT settings to open using WiFi tether? Call of Duty black ops is on strict when using wifi tether, no lag or anything just hard to connected to friends???

Does you're wifi tethering work? I can't get it to work.
It's installed, it's sending a signal, but I can't pick up the signal on any of my computers, phones, or tablets.
I'm using wireless tether 2.0.8.
Don't install another app (wireless tether).
Use the program that comes stock on your phone. You can find it under settings > wireless and network > tethering and portable hotspot > portable wi-fi hotspot settings.

Thanks. I guess I'll stick with this one.
I guess there is no point for anyone to write a kernel for this app to allow netfilter-enable, especially since the stock one actually shows up as a wifi signal as opposed to ad-hoc.
I am facing problems with hotspot and 4G. When ever I turn on hotspot, 4G goes into scanning mode and never connects where as I have full signal in $G without hotspot. Am I the only one facing this issue or any one else is having problem with this. Hotspot works fine with 3G
The sprint hotspot app will not work with 4g unless you pay for the service. We're lucky a dev cracked it so 3g even works. But since you're rooted (obviously) you can use other apps to tether wirelessly while connected to 4g. I still prefer usb tethering but you have options.

Hi there,
I have a data plan of 500MB with Rogers Canada (on which tethering is not enabled). When I setup my phone as a wifi hotspot (or USB tether), a computer connects to the phone but there is no internet connection. Is this because tethering is not enabled on my sim card? If yes, how can the provider enforce it and is there a workaround for it?
Thanks for your time.

It's most likely your plan that does not offer tethering.
I am on AT&T, have no problem tethering on a stock job 4.2.2 ROM.
What happens when you enable hotspot on your phone?
Also, have you tried other WiFi tethering apps like foxfi?

The connection between the phone and the computer is established but there is no internet connection.
Foxfi doesn't support nexus 4. It force closes when I enable its wifi tethering.

I am trying to use foxfi on my g2 on pacman ROM and when I enable WiFi hotspot, I get a system notification that mobile hotspot is enabled. In the settings menu of pacman under data, I see that mobile hotspot is enabled. Does that mean I will be charged for the data that I tether?
The point of foxfi is to get around Verizons expensive plans but I am not sure if my device will report data usage to Verizon since mobile hotspot under settings must be enabled for it to work.
Thanks in advance.
