Vzw g2 WiFi tethering - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to use foxfi on my g2 on pacman ROM and when I enable WiFi hotspot, I get a system notification that mobile hotspot is enabled. In the settings menu of pacman under data, I see that mobile hotspot is enabled. Does that mean I will be charged for the data that I tether?
The point of foxfi is to get around Verizons expensive plans but I am not sure if my device will report data usage to Verizon since mobile hotspot under settings must be enabled for it to work.
Thanks in advance.

No need to have a plan from your carrier. I'm with ATT and have never had a tether plan, but I have been tethering for over a year on various device.....SSHHHHH!!!! don't tell

Does you're wifi tethering work? I can't get it to work.
It's installed, it's sending a signal, but I can't pick up the signal on any of my computers, phones, or tablets.
I'm using wireless tether 2.0.8.
Don't install another app (wireless tether).
Use the program that comes stock on your phone. You can find it under settings > wireless and network > tethering and portable hotspot > portable wi-fi hotspot settings.

Thanks. I guess I'll stick with this one.
I guess there is no point for anyone to write a kernel for this app to allow netfilter-enable, especially since the stock one actually shows up as a wifi signal as opposed to ad-hoc.

[Q] Unable to tether/hotspot using nexus 4

Hi there,
I have a data plan of 500MB with Rogers Canada (on which tethering is not enabled). When I setup my phone as a wifi hotspot (or USB tether), a computer connects to the phone but there is no internet connection. Is this because tethering is not enabled on my sim card? If yes, how can the provider enforce it and is there a workaround for it?
Thanks for your time.

It's most likely your plan that does not offer tethering.
I am on AT&T, have no problem tethering on a stock job 4.2.2 ROM.
What happens when you enable hotspot on your phone?
Also, have you tried other WiFi tethering apps like foxfi?

The connection between the phone and the computer is established but there is no internet connection.
Foxfi doesn't support nexus 4. It force closes when I enable its wifi tethering.

[Q] How to bypass T-Mobile Tether on Unlocked AT&T S4?

My internet is going to be down for a while and I wanted to tether it to my ipad. It's a unlocked at&t s4 with t mobile baseband to get LTE. Im currently using WICKED t mobile rom. I'm using the $30 t mobile prepaid for 5gb of LTE.
I tried all the wifi apps (foxfi, vpn shield, etc.) And tried a modded tether.apk file in the system app folder. None of it work. When I try to enable the hotspot, it said I needed to upgrade my plan to tether.
The wifi apps enable the hotspot, but when I connect with my ipad, a tmobile log in page pops up.
are there any works around?

WiFi Tether?

Has anyone been able to get WiFi Tether to work without rooting their device? Picked up a Blackberry Priv for work and it's a great device. Considering getting one for personal use on Verizon.
I often use a WiFi tethering and I had no problem with that functionality. You can enable the tethering in the settings menu or using the quick settings dropdown; no rooting of a device is needed or even using additional applications.

Thanks for responding! Do you have WiFi tethering added on your service plan? This is the reason for needing root.
If you have a plan that doesn't allow tethering (like Straight Talk), it will be blocked. No workaround in sight.

Can anyone come up with a straight answer on tether bypass for 7.1.1

On 7.1.1 have net.tether.noprovisioning=true added in build prop
Tried to add settings put global tether_dun_required 0
But ain't getting nowhere with that part
Anyone have familiarity with WiFi tether router app
I have it working but both methods the stock hotspot toggle and the App are pulling from my allotted hotspot of 8gig
When I should at that point be pulling from my unlimited amount of Monthly LTE .
What's this trick with Android 7.1.1 to get to this point . I'm seeing my tethering limit increase with the stock hotspot toggle but the WiFi tether router app pulls from my Unlimited plan the only problem is somehow carrier is still seeing that as my hotspot limit even the the data usage charts aren't moving on my Hotspot amount . This is strange
