Yeah. No way... I had enough of cheap, plasticy phones when I replaced my MyTouch Slide with the G2. The only difference is the FFC (which isn't wide spread enough for me to care about) and the lack of keyboard (not a positive although if you really care.. its a bit thinner). Plus, the bloated, expresso garbage (the worst form of sense ui, ever). Not a good choice unless you're a tweener, lol

The genius button isn't too bad once it remapped to search button. Then you can map a long press to another app like a led flashlight or task manager. Basically, its the same guts as the G2 only no kb and add a ffc. It would a stupid upgrade from a G2. Waste of money, imo.

No it does not have the same guts as the G2. It features the 1Ghz MSM8255 chip which is substantially faster than the G2's MSM7230. Its not the same chip overclocked to 1Ghz; its an entirely different chip. Its the same one found in the Desire HD.

heck no. having played with my wife's MT Slide, im not impressed with the plasticy feel of the phone or the terrible sense UI. the only thing this new mytouch has going for it is a bigger screen. the front camera is useless unless you know others with a front camera (i dont).
I personally, am going to check out the new mytouch. When reviewed by engadget, the build quality was said to be very solid, with the same metal accents the g2 has. The front facing camera would be great for chatting with my daughter in georgia, I rarely use the keyboard on my g2(I was using my nexus one previously), and as soon as it's rooted I'll be switching to vanilla android with launcherpro anyways.
So what's the big deal? I don't buy a device for what it does, but rather for what it CAN DO.
Had I known about the new mytouch sooner, I would have waited. Now my 14 days are up and I'll have to sell/trade my g2.
As a side note: if anyone is going to be buying the g2 as new service or as an upgrade, get in touch with me. Maybe we can work something out where you get the new mytouch instead and I give you my flawless g2 and pay the difference.
Won't be trading mine. This g2 is hot. Haha. the damn thing is fast as hell at 800mhz. I played with the droid x and droid 2. The speed of the g2 eats them alive and I think those are 1ghz phones? I could be wrong

Optimization is key here. If anyone here has done anything with motorsports you know this very well. All the aftermarket parts in the world won't make you go faster without the proper tune. 1ghz means nothing if the code doesn't use it properly. This is why the g2 runs so well. The right hardware, coupled with a vanilla OS with no customizations.
I will be getting one to go along with my G2. I've actually held the new MyTouch and it is not plastic or cheaply built. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, I just wish there was no Genius button as well.

If the MyTouch is the North American version of the HD, I would suspect the G2 would be an overall better performer. Here is my reasoning, take it how you will:
The 1ghz scorpion that the Desire HD uses has a less powerful GPU than the 800 mhz processor the G2 and Desire Z use. Additionally, the g2 has a larger battery than the Desire HD despite the HD's larger screen ( 1,300mAh battery on G2 vsthe Desire HD features a 1230mAh ) which could suggest the need for more power under the hood despite lower clock speed.
Many have suggested that the 800mghz is deliberately underlocked and the fact that there is now an OC that doesnt require whole new kernel would suggest that this is true.
My personal take: going on pure processing specs alone (and assuming the MyTouch HD/4g is the same as the Desire HD under the hood) then the g2 is the clear winner.
Going on product design, it really depends on whether you want an FFC or a hardware keyboard.
Going on aesthetics i think the g2 wins - even if the MyTouch build quality is high, it still has a toylike look.
I suspect at the end of the day, out of the box the g2 runs faster w/ a better battery life given stock android, faster gpu, and smaller screen. It remains to be seen what root will do to these two devices and how the current g2 OC affects battery life.
I also suspect that if the g2 and mytouch ere to get gingerbread (unconfirmed), it would come slightly faster to the g2 OTA given that sense would not have to be ported.

I still have 6 days left and I'm loving the G2 so far that I don't think it'd be worth it to get the MT HD. A lot of my friends have the iPhone 4 and they rarely use the FFC, and I doubt I would too. And coming from a iPhone 3G I'm loving the physical keyboard.
I miss android, the way it handles everything, still remember when one user wrote reboot and we found root back in the G1 days.

Not really...
A G2 running at 1Ghz will out-perform a G2 running at stock 800mhz 100% of the time (on CPU-bound operations), on 100% of devices. There is no hand-tuning for one particular speed.
Don't give HTC this much credit. All they do is take ASOP code and code in their little hacks to lock down the device. In the grand scheme of things, they know very little about tuning an OS to a particular piece of hardware.

HTC builds their devices to the specs of their customers (mainly carriers), if their customers don't want to dig deep in their pockets for HTC to build the proper drivers, HTC isn't going to waste resources on something their customers has not asked for.

I really don't understand the fervor and I don't mean to be a jerk. Why is it such a big deal?
I have a friend who's even held out for the g2 over the vibrant.
Probably because T-Mobile is marketing the G2 more since it has the T-Mobile brand. Kind of like what Verizon does to "Droid" It's all marketing.
im not excited. sure it will be a great phone. but i honestly think it's ugly. i can appreciate the hw keyboard though.
Some people are excited because it comes with Android 2.2 and given Samsung's past, we could be waiting a while for 2.2.

You don't seem very optimistic at all. Samsung UK have confirmed Android 2.2 for UK but nothing for U.S., hoping for the same result in the U.S. or at least close to it.
It utilizes HSPA+ which is only really useful if it's deployed in your area.
The marketing angle (mentioned above) is certainly part of it. Also, it's the named-successor to the G1 - that's special for lots of folks. Thats the highlight for me, really. If the Galaxy S lineup hadn't gotten the XDA section and CM roadmap (legitimized the platform, in my eyes) I might be waiting for a G2 also. Now that I've got my Vibrant, though ... No way could I be happy with a smaller screen and lesser CPU/GPU. I love my Vibrant. Some folks really love the thought of a "official" Google phone though. To each their own. Anyway, if the Vibrant starts pissing me off 6 months from now, G2 means I have something else to try out instead.
I LOVE my Vibrant but I will most likely get a G2, mainly because of the keyboard, the success and continued support the G1 still gets from the XDA community.

Keyboard isn't even a necessity for me. 4" Screen + Virtual Keyboard (or Swype) works more than fine for me. I definitely do think T-Mobile will spend most of their money towards marketing the G2 and saying it runs at 4G speeds (HSPA+)
just because the cpu has a slower max speed doesnt necessarily mean the phone will run slower. plus the vibrant has touchwiz bogging it down a little. the g2 is vanilla android 2.2. I'm excited for it.

Eugene released a package to remove TouchWiz. Get your facts straight.
Also, once CM6 gets released.. everything will be good again.
If the g2 has a working GPS and compass I'd consider it a better phone than the vibrant on that alone. I could care less about the qwerty keyboard but g2 will be shipping with swype so that's good. Hspa+ is a major leap for tmo where the vibrant won't even be able to compare. G2 is basically the next gen dev phone for Android. That holds a lot of weight for many.

Physical keyboard, HSPA+, stock android 2.2 (I think I read that they added 4 more homescreens though). Also, given the fact that it's the G1's successor, it'll be great for the mod/hack community
It sucks I bought my vibrant over a month ago, I would've gladly returned it for a G2
I'm still not real sure if I want to give up my Vibrant for the G2. I really don't think the G2 will just blow the Vibrant out of the water or make it obsolete. It has a slower processor, smaller screen, smaller battery, and is thicker. What I didn't like about my G1 and Cliq was the thickness. When I got swipe on the G1, I stopped using the physical keyboard and I wouldn't be using it if the Vibrant had one either.
It does have a camera flash, 2.2, and HSPA+ and potentially more support/development, but nothing else about it is appealing. The trackpad is neat, but I feel like too much real estate is being wasted below the screen on the G2, making it longer than it should be. I've been getting along just fine without a trackball/pad for a few weeks now.
I wish there was just a little more known about the hardware and an exact release date. I don't think I could lie with my old Tmobile Dash for more than another week if I sent my Vibrant back.
it's all about that scorpion processor, its the first of its kind on a phone, and although it is clocked lower than the current superphones (g2 running at 800mhz instead of 1ghz). it is a 45nm processor rather than a 65nm like snapdragon and other 1ghz, meaning it'll consume less battery power and be more efficient most likely beating the current 1ghz in speed and performance.
especially since its running stock froyo..theres also the hspa+ speeds, and for some ppl the physical keyboard is a plus. This phone will most likely take the crown as the fastest android phone...but..I still think it looks ugly and too plain :/
I wouldnt get too excited till it actually comes out. Then we'll know for sure on everything. All this regret or this will be better is just whatevers till the g2 is actually out

Exactly!
The processor in the G2 is an 800MHz Scorpion processor, which benchmarks at around the same performance level as the 1GHz Hummingbird processor in the Vibrant and is a bit more efficient on battery power. It's a huge improvement over the Snapdragon processors, about 4 times the speed at comparable clockspeeds.

even if you had a G2 running Vanilla i'm guessing that it wouldn't be running "STOCK" you would mod it like the majority of us here on XDA. That is the fun of it. Removing **** that we don't want and adding stuff that we do. So for us it really doesn't matter at the end of the day that the G2 will be running Vanilla. SO WHAT. Our vibrant will have AOSP and CM6.1 soon enough Just sayin.
Well, the G2 will awesome, I only have a problem with it:
It's release will severly slow down development on the Vibrant. :/ I've only had my Vibrant 3 weeks so if development doesnt pick up soon ill trade it in for a G2.

Engadget did a great review on both the G2 and the myTouch 4G.

Read it for yourself and maybe it'll help you in your decision.

Depends on you really. Your needs and style is what should influence you the most. For me, I got the g2 it does everything I need, and I know that the extra features will be unnoticeable or unused for the mt4g.
I have both in front of me - and I'm 100% in the "G2" team. The MT4G looks slick, but they have tweaked and modded Android to the point where it just pisses me off.
Every single app has something stock android doesn't do. After coming from the N1, the G2 feels the most like it, but the MT4G is in a league of its own. I'm sure it has a following, but it sure as hell isn't designed for people who like to tinker with their devices.

I have both phones in front of me, and I've been playing with them for a few days. I came from a G1 and I thought that G2 would be the one for me, but I just don't get it. How is the G2 so much more customizable than than MT4G? Sure it has a physical keyboard, so it's got more in that sense, but as far as OS features go I just don't see a huge difference. On the con side it has extra bulk/thickness. The hinges are prone to failure and it's missing the FFC. I actually think G2 should be more customizable than stock allows. I like Cyanogen roms, so if the MT4G can be rooted and Cyanogen supported then there is no question that MT4G would be a better phone for me. Even without Cyanogen and full root I'd say that MT4G is a tiny bit better. They're even phones at the least.
By the way, you're going to get people that are biased towards the G2 on this thread, and you will get people that are biased towards the MT4G on the MT4G thread. You will also see that bias in the poll.
I like the g2 because I really don't like the way the camera is on the mytouch.. they fact that its raised on the back of the device just annoys me and it feels like u would scratch the lens way too easily. I also like the build quality of the g2 better than the mytouch

MT4G
Totally feel your pain cause I was in the same boat. Had the Nexus for almost a year until I replaced it with the G2.
I really like how the G2 lies in your hand when you're browsing the web in landscape mode with the keyboard out. I'm not a huge fan of the keyboard mainly because it doesn't have dedicated number keys and the size of it makes typing slower and more strenuous than on the G1 (which I had before the Nexus).
I was also a bit annoyed by the way the keyboard backlighting kept turning itself on and off in medium light conditions without having the option to have it always on when the keyboard is used.
The hinge is a big question mark with some disaster potential. I guess only time will tell. Having said that I didn't mind the looseness too much. I also really like the slick business look to the G2 although it is definitely bulky when compared to my nexus or the MT4G. Overall it's an awesome device though and I definitely grew font of it during the 3 weeks I owned it.
When the MT4G came out I decided to give it a try cause I still had 10 days in my remorse period. The genius button and mysense took some getting used to. Definitely prefer vanilla android. LauncherPro, visionary, and Titanium Backup helped me remove a lot of crap and get a bit more vanilla flare back although there are also certain things I like better about the sense UI (copy/paste, eMail app, facebook app,)
I like the camera app better on the MT4G. Simply takes better pictures. FFC isnt a big deal for me but certainly doesn't hurt.
I definitely miss the soft buttons on the MT4G. The plastic hard buttons feel a little cheap and I would prefer not having to actually click them. I guess its cause I've been so used to the Nexus. I also agree with parts of the Engadget review about the lag of aesthetics. Overall the MT4G feels a lot thinner and smaller though which was what won me over.
Verdict:
I still have 4 days left in my remorse period but decided to keep the MT4G. Both are good devices so it totally depends on what you want. In the end it was the thinness that won me over to the MT4G and the black looks actually quite slick. Good luck deciding and just remember, you really can't go wrong with either one.
G2. Better UI. No silly MySense interface that MT4G has. Only good thing about the MT4G is the FF camera but so be it. G2 is the best way to go if your looking to get something for grown up (in a sense).
after messing with my little sisters mytouch i told her how much i didn't like it and she said i don't care i can talk text and video chat. then i asked video chat with who? and she walked away ha.

have you held a mytouch 4g? its nothing like the old ones, i had a g2 and returned it for a mytouch, they feel the same solid in my hand....well actually with no loose hinge wiggle, the mytouch feels better built
And best looking is very subjective....when i had the g2 and vibrant at the same time, my friends saw the g2 as a downgrade in the looks department
Hey XDA,
I currently have a MyTouch 3g 32B. Yeah I know, ancient, right? I'm currently looking to upgrade to either a T-mobile MyTouch 4g or a T-mobile G2 (aka Desire Z).
I'm into custom ROMs, radios, hboots, SPLs, kernels, you guys know the drill. I'm pretty dedicated to Cyanogenmod, and I've noticed that they only support the G2 right now, I haven't really heard anything about the MyTouch and CM. So this gives the G2 a big advantage over the MyTouch.
Keyboard doesn't matter. The front facing camera gives the MyTouch a little bit of an edge. I'm leaning towards G2 because of modding.
This isn't really a versus thread, as I have almost all the info I want from gsmarena.com. But I'm having a hard time comparing the CPU and GPU in the two phones. Not much turns up on Google. Obviously the speeds are different, but that doesn't matter much as I'll be overclocking it.
So which phone has a better CPU/GPU? I've heard the G2's GPU is currently the best, not sure how true that is. I will be using the phone for emulators.
The question: what does XDA think of the CPUs/GPUs? Can anyone give me the model of GPU the phones use?
Thanks!
Nick
P.S. Cross-posted to G2 general.
I had the G2 and I can tell you 100% this phone is hands down better. CM will come to this device soon as well. Don't settle for a phone based on what it's development is at in a given time. Look at what is better in terms of hardware and over all device specs. With 786 mb of RAM and FFC and perm root this MT4G nails the coffin on the heavy loose dangling hinged G2.
A good developer is going to be receiving his MT4G really soon to pick up the CM port for our MT4G.
I also love the MT4G and there WILL be many roms on it just look in the general discussion section where they have raised money to buy phones for devs to allow them to make roms. but about the G2 hinge problem just check it at the store before you buy it (hold it upside down ...) my friend did this and he got 1 with a very sturdy hinge. As to your gpu/cpu I don't know but I think the CPU is the same (don't take my word for it though).
CPU =MSM8x55 at 1Ghz
GPU = Adreno 205
The MSM7x30, MSM8x55, and the MSM8x50a all use a 45nm process. The speeds are 800Mhz, 1Ghz, and 1.3Ghz respectively.
The Adreno 205 is a significant performance enhancement from the Adreno 200 found in the first gen snapdragon processors found in the Nexus One, etc.
The MT4G MSM8x55 is likely an o/c'd version of the MSM7x30 as alot of references to MSM7x30 are made in build.prop and throughout the rest of the OS. Same situation probably from the MSM8x55 to the MSM8x50a. Intel does this with their cpu's all the time. O/C, stamp a different model number on it, and sell it at a premium price.
MSM = Mobile Station Modem

To each his own. I personally had 2 g2's and ended up sending them both back for random reboots and loose hinges. The reboots were fixed with the ota and custom roms I think but that hinge made me almost drop the phone several times and was going to do nothing but get worse over time. And it seemed to loosen up very quickly. Just FYI.

I too owned the G2 and it was a great device. It was smoother than the 4g but I'm sure that's due to the fact that it doesn't have a skin on top #cough cough# sense LOL

If you can be patient. I'd imagine a port from CM will be forth coming very soon.
I came from a 32B myself and this phone even with Sense is way better.
I personally like a physical keyboard like my wife's Slide, but her and I both like the MT4G better.
Your choice though.
the mt4g is okay but the g2 is nothing to sneeze at, sense is nice but stock is better in my opinion, hmmm I wonder which phone will get Gingerbread first if the other gets it at all (officially anyway) you know some things work but most things are broken.

I heard the reason why the g2 and the mt4g only have about 1gb instead of the 4gb as advertised is because some of that space is being saved up for gingerbread so eventually both devices will get updated
BTW just because the g2 currently can run CM doesn't mean that is superior than the mt4g just wait until they release some roms for this bad boy and will see how much this phone kicks ass even the stock Rom runs great just use LauncherPro instead of mySense no lag whatsoever
I had a G2 for about 2 weeks, and sent it back under the buyers remorse. Basically in stock form I like the G2 better, but felt the mytouch has a bit more longevity to it where it has more ram..that said I dont think you can go wrong with either phone. I am a stock froyo guy over sense or my sense crap but thats just my personal preference.
Running different benchmarks when clocked the same the G2 pulled ahead by a hair on most but I credit that to the mytouch running my sense, in actually using the devices I found the G2 to be smoother as well, but again the whole my sense thing again.
The mytouch line always seemed kinda kiddish to me somehow and it seems that a new model is always on the horizon, not trying to insult anyone that has one, or likes them..hell I have one currently lol, but I just cant shake the feeling that I am using a lesser phone, even though I know I am not.
Side by side I found the G2 to have a better display, colors looked more vivid and eye popping despite the mytouch having a slightly larger screen, the mytouch is slightly washed out looking, but that was only evident to me when they were side by side, using the phone on its own the mytouch is just fine and you dont really notice the colors and stuff when its not in a side by side direct comparison.
I suppose the end result would be whatever one you like better, both are good and the mytouch will have more ROMs for it shortly so that shouldnt really weigh in on your decision.
Please post questions in Q&A section.
So I got caught up in the M-Atrix for a minute, but decided to take the blue pill (or was it the red pill?) and get out. Now though I am missing the ffc, battery life, and feel back here in DeZireland (G2), so I am thinking of swapping my G2 for a MT4G and I am looking for feedback from those that have made the journey already. What are your pros and cons? An inquiring mind wants to know.
My last phone was a G2. I thought it was a great phone. Internally both phones are about the same. If you are staying stock, you need to ask yourself do you like Vanilla Android, or do you like the MySense UI that the myTouch line offers. Hardware wise, the only difference between the two is the G2 has a keyboard and the MT4G has the FFC. They both have smartphone-like battery life.
If you are rooting, the UI is immaterial, as you could flash whichever you wanted on either phone. Personally, I found myself never using the physical keyboard because I love Swype. And while I don't use it for video chat, the FFC is cool as hell to me. As soon as I get a few more friends with FFCs I will be all over the video chat.
So I guess basically comes down to either the physical keyboard or FFC. Which do you want more?
The myTouch has 768mb of memory as opposed to the G2 with 512mb... only main difference than otherwise posted I love my mt4g much more than when I had the G2.. The hinge on the G2 ended up bugging me to the point where I used a rubber band to hold it closed (I then just exchanged it for the mTouch lol).
Both phones are great minus a few small issues.. G2's vanilla is nice for dev's and people who don't like Sense (Sense rocks with a small overclock in my opinion). I liked the notification light built around the trackpad on the G2. The slightly larger screen on the mTouch was noticeable for me, and the overall thinness.
Well I happen to own both of the phones. And I have to say that MyTouch 4G is much better! They both have almost the same specs but you really notice the difference when running many apps at once. The MyTouch 4g is a mutlitasking monster with 768MB ram! And coupled with faux123's kernel you can't go wrong! Only thing I like ym G2 for is playing SNESoid and others. But i'm about to get bluetooth controller so... GO MYTOUCH!
I just switched from the G2 to the myTouch 4G...personally think I've done the better decision...actually went from G2 -> Vibrant 4G -> myTouch4G.
I actually ran the myTouch4G rom on my G2 so there isn't anything different rom wise but performance I think it runs much faster than the G2 did and I haven't overclocked mine.

WOAH WHERE CAN I HAS GET CONTROLLER I WANTS ONE!!!
link pls
I own both. I really love both.
I feel like the my touch is growing on me. Specwise it flies. G2 is slick. It feels so science ficción.

They also have different processors. The G2 has an 800Mhz Scorpion and the myTouch has a 1Ghz Snapdragon.
I just made the switch from G2 to mT4G. Couldn't be happier. I thought I would use the keyboard on the G2 but never did. The mT4G is lighter and much thinner.
I will say that IMO the Dev scene is better for the G2 than the mT4G. Just my opinion... But if you are going to use CM it doesn't matter.
FFC Rocks!
Passed on the G2 to the wife. Couldn't stand the bulk and the hinge. The MT4G is faster due to the RAM and slightly faster processor, but not noticeably when both running CM7. The G2 is a better looking phone and seems built better (except for the hinge) as my MT4G has creaky buttons, dust under the lens and just a generally funky collection of textures and material colors. If I wasn't planning on rooting the MT4G, I probably would have kept the G2 to avoid the Sense bloat.
Sold
Wouldn't you know it! As soon as I started this thread I dropped my G2 and now it has a bunch of fracking scratches on the screen! Anyway you guys have convinced me! Anyone wanna trade a MT4G for a not-so-mint-anymore-G2?

I was originally in love with the G2 but held off because I realized I would never use the hardware keyboard anyway.
Opted for the MT4G for these reasons:
-more ram
-faster base processor speed (overclocking makes this kind of moot though)
-front-facing camera
-software doesn't matter because I run CyanogenMod on everything anyway
I do really love the look and feel of the G2 but after playing with it I realized I'm more comfortable on a touch screen keyboard. Now that I have CM7 on my phone I'm absolutely in love with it. The only thing I wish it had is the lighted ring around the trackpad like the G2.
I still think the G2 is a very sexy piece of hardware.
I found this article on the next qwerty keyboard phone and so far it looks like a possible dual core G3, I hope it is, that picture is of the desire z so don't get to confident based on the pic lmao

hell yeah, its sooo sexy. i really dont need anything else in a phone that the g2 doesn't have.
3.5mm jack.
5mp w\flash
3.7'' screen
keyboard
800mhz, although i am clocked at 1ghz.
only thing ill move up to in time would have to have
4'' screen,
1ghz processor. although it'll prob be like 1.2 by the time i upgrade. i dont see the point in having a dual core processor in a phone.. id rather do that much multi taskin with a tablet.. which i'll have by the end of this year im sure. im itchin for one... bad. =]
8mp camera with flash would be nice.
and keyboard..
im sure the whole keyboard thing will make my options pretty slim.. but i have faith in good ol htc to keep me a strong fanboy.
See these threads often and they r always pointless. It'll still be another year at least before anything... there will be wanna copies and wannabes for the g series but it'll still be a while

A rep a tmobile store said they were going to come out with a dual screen/ dual core G3. Idk if that's true( I'm sure its not) but was a cool thought.
The guy said the 2nd screen would be for a keyboard or to be on youtube/webpage and game or any other thing you can be on. If that would be the case id get one.

Oh man I'm not liking this idea of dual screen, I'm sure he meant dual core because htc has no plan of making a dual screen phone, but damn what they think this is a nintendo DS.

Jajajaja, it is a sexy thing for sure dude the phones that can compare is the surround but it lacks a keyboard, and the G2 made the sidekick 09 (suposely the sexiest thing according to sidekick feens) look horrendous lmaooo, the sophisticated industrial look, the aluminum finishes, the trackpad the keyboard (whoa I couldn't believe it, is way better than any of the sidekicks keyboards for sure), and to think I was such a sidekick fanboy but I sure regret it, tell me how I use to think the sidekick was the best thing in the world even better than any android phone lmao, till this day I slap my self for saying that everytime I think about how sexy my G2 is!!!!

lol I have been thinking about ditching the G2 for a MT4g because I never use the keyboard.
How does that thing run after rooting and getting rid of the bloatware?

I don't know much about it but it has the same GPU as the G2 so it is just as good processor wise only diference is that the chips have different processing speeds 800mhz on the G2 and 1ghz on the mytouch it is faster than the G2 whitout root but once they have the same processing speed there is no difference, oh and also the mytouch has more RAM I think its somewhere in the 700s mb, whereas the G2 has 512mb which is a plus on the mytouch, and they both have 4GB internal mem, although as we know it froyo only allows 2GB of use, which boggles my mind because idk why we have 4GB if we can't use all of it. And if your wanting to get a dual core mytouch 4G slide I suggest yu wait and see what this htc doubleshot is, tbh I think it may the the 4G slide, give it a couple of more months dude

If you check out the anandtech review some how the my touch gets alot more battery life than the g2 and the only difference is 1400 battery and the g2 has 1300

Sounds good, either way, just as I waited for the G2 to upgrade from my G1, I won't be getting rid of my G2 until something like a G3 does come along. Only improvements I really want are dual core, better speakers, superior gpu, bigger screen if possible and a front facing camera. Everything else is nice but I love my G2 as it is

That what you described would be the perfect G3, dude dual core, FFC, 3.7 or bigger screen, 3.8" is perfect IMO, but wouldn't mind 3.7" or 4" STFT lcd, and of course a higher resolution screen like the QHD on the evo 3D on 3.8 screen would be the sharpest most beautiful screen in the world damn!, what more can you ask on a phone lmaooo

You might want to rethink about that.
I had mytouch 4g but got rid of it.
It just have way too many qc issues not sure if you want to go through all the exchanging program
1.lights leak
2.half of the device comes with washed out screen check their general thread more info. Or search for Goodscreen vs badscreen on youtube.
3. Squeaky sound when the buttons are pressed
4.typical htc qc issue, dust under screen dead pixcel
5. Front facing camera off centered. U have to tilt the device to get your device in the center and if you have one of the washed out screen well... not so good
6. There is more but i dont remember.
