Quadrant result with JPM - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi.
I don't usually pay much attention to the benchmark arguments that go on, but today I'm curious!
On JM9 with OCLF, my quadrant score was the usual 2200-2300.
But with JPM and OCLF it has dropped to around 1725.
I've flashed and re-flashed, but it always comes out the same.
I'm sure the Quadrant video sequences in JM9 were all around 55+ fps, but a couple of them in JPM are now around 40fps.
Any thoughts? The phone seems smooth enough (I use Launcher Pro) and Linpak gives me ~14.1
Cheers
Dave.

The same here. With JM9 around 2200, with JPM 1800. However, I dont find JPM smoother than JM9
However, Froyo has more options and that is why I am using it.

score
Mine too! !!!
Worst. ... 967 only. ...

Result of quadrant score doesnt play a matter for me.
But the graphic performance is really bad with JPM compared to JM8. Am i the only one with huge lags in quadrant 2d and 3d benchmark or even in a simple Basket Ball game from market?

Got 1027 on JP6 with no Lagfix. Waiting for voodoo

as I've noticed before, without lagfix on 2.1 the I/O check takes ages
but as compare,
2.1 without lagfix around 850
2.2 without lagfix around 1000
2.1 with lagfix around 2200
2.2 with lag fix, not tested yet, need to find a root

For me, I use the phone for mostly GPU intense task, such as taking pictures/video, listening to video, gaming, browsing pictures, etc. so I asume that better gpu makes it better all around eh!

So wouldn't benchmarks for your specific application be better than synthetic benchmarks suck as linpack and quadrant? The snapdragon CPU in the n1 is very very friendly with linpack (NEON + 128bit SIMD). I doubt that the hummingbird in our SGSs will ever score as high, but that doesn't mean that real performance is going to be worse. And well quadrant is pretty much a joke or at least how it weights cpu/gpu/io.
Maybe someone group will get a bunch of phones together and test things like gaming speed, web render times etc etc. That would be meaningful.

you mean VFP? the Hummingbird is the one with the ARM Neon chip...
VFP is pretty much a floating point accelerator which is why benchmarks are so high on linpack which calculates floating points.

How to do the OCLF? It says "Unavailable" on everything...
Edit: got it fixed
1819 with
If everything shows unavailable check the following:
Phone is Rooted,
Ext2 tools installed,
BATTERY MUST BE MORE THAN 40%
last one is the one that most people dont check
Score was around 1008 with standard Froyo. (Kies update)
With root and lagfix i get around 1873.
With official Enclair and lagfix i could easily get 2200+ points.
970. not the best!

How do I root and install Ext2? (stupid question I know but I am new lol). I see it can root and install ext2 as well, but those are unavailable too.

Wow! I just installed SetCPU, thinking that it might improve my score. With SetCPU installed and the min/max set to 998 I got 1061. I uninstalled SetCPU and and tried again. Got my best score yet - 1322.

thanks to smokku tweak
I was getting around 1000-1100 on Steve's 1.3... I just installed his 1.4.5 and overclocked as high as it would go. I didn't close any programs, had wi-fi on, just as I'd normally be using my phone. It ran a 1639. Not bad!
I noticed the animations ran a lot faster. Heck, that score is tripled what I was running on 2.1.

Benchmark Tests on Legend 2.1 vs 2.2

Hi All,
Updated my missus's Legend to 2.2 today and ran a Quadrant Benchmark test on it..
best of 3 was 903 (avg is about 860)..
What are you getting on 2.1... and what sort of scores are you getting on the custom ROM's out there?
Post your scores stating which ROM you're running..
Clean Eclair, 2.1 = 4XX-5XX
Azure, 2.2 = 8XX-9XX
Cyanogenmod RC2, 2.2.1 = 8XX-9XX
Never benchmark a Sense ROM before so I cannot provide such information.

I'm sorry Sir, but are you ****ing-kidding-me? With almost stock 2.1 i had ~380. With azure 1.0.x now i have ~460.
I have not programmed anything in android yet, but I know programming java for some years and I think that I can tell you why those spectacular benchmarks doesn't apply in most games.
The improvements have been made in the dalvik virtual machine, which is responsible for executing the java code of the applications.
But if programmes want more performance, they can write part of the program directly in native code, developed in C or C++. This code cannot be optimized (more), thus applicacions using JNI massively don't see any improvement.
I suppose many games should be using JNI because of the advantages in performance, so they're already 'optimized'.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong

I'm sorry Sir, but are you a ****ing kid? Let me try to be as nice as possible here. Do your homework before you bash other people. Go to the respected ROM's thread, or the OC thread and look around for other peoples results. That is the average result. 4XX on Azure? Seriously? Throw your phone to the wall and maybe that'll boost the Quadrant scores.

Raja, the avarage Azure scores are 4XX because JIT is actually disabled in that rom, even though the option present and checked.

Sorry my bad.
Seems like JIT was disabled only until Azure 0.6.
However I can confirm that my Azure 1.0.1 quadrant score was 4XX (which is kind of low...), and as I now have 1095 with CM6.1 I don't think theres a problem with my legend's performance.
Sorry for the newbie question, but.. how do I run a Quadrant Benchmark ?
I know these numbers refer to the performance, and that the 2.2 scores a lot better, but in actual everyday usage - battery life, speed etc. what does this practically mean?

Install Quadrant and run it. Well, technically it is just numbers. But most of the benchmarkers do admit feeling the difference between lower and higher scores. Some say those are placebo effect, but meh. I don't buy that ****.

Ways to improve Quadrant Score on Stock Froyo?

With Stock, my quadrant score was around 800+ something.
After rooting, disabling Telenav and few other non essential with Autostart then reboot, my score improved to 1041. Any other ways to tweak it to higher score? Voodoo (convert to ext4?)
My advice is to not care about your quadrant score. If your phone doesnt feel fast enough for you then install a lagfix and be done with it.

There's loads of "lag fixes" out there, designed to speed up the phone from perceived laginess. Some seem to do nothing more than inflate test score numbers (like Quadrant).
Do not worry about the score of one application. The true tests lie within the hands of the user. Are you happy with the phone? If not, then maybe it's time to upgrade to froyo, or a custom cooked ROM of Froyo.
