Hello all, I was wondering if you guys agree with me that the Omnia 7 looks much more awesome than the Focus. Too bad I can't get the Omnia 7 here in the US, you Europeans are damn lucky!
Omnia 7:

Focus:
If you could show the photos of these 2 models side by side, people could easily decide and vote. Anyways, Focus is the only option for me and I like the fact that it'll have a mSD slot.

Not a huge fan of the Omnia design myself.
The omnia 7 will support [email protected] 3g. I'm actually ordering a omnia 7 from the UK and use it with a AT&T sim
I liked the Omnia 7 the first time it was announced. Just today I had the chance to see and play with it for few minutes... and now I like it even more for me it's the best looking Windows Phone 7 device so far.

I don't think it will, the omnia 7 has 900/2100 bands, and ATT uses 850/1900

Hi TheBlueSky.net,
Are the camera/standby/volume buttons plastic? and do they feel cheap?
Also is the rear bottom and top of the device feel cheap since they're plastic?
The design is up there with the HD7 imo, but the rear of the design has not fully grown on me (looks too busy, rather than simplistic as how the front is).
A Dustman - below are the specs i got from phonearena.com.
Network Type
GSM Quad-band phone capable of global roaming (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
UMTS tri-band global 3G (900/1900/2100 MHz)
If they only sold the focus in the UK I wouldn't buy It as compared to the Omnia it looks a cheap phone. I'd buy the Dell instead as that does look like a premium phone.
Any chance of a seperate Omnia forum? Most people won't know the Focus is the USA version of the Omnia and will miss this.

I wouldn't think a separate forum would work. Maybe rename this one Focus/Omnia 7 so people understand they are the same. Then it would be one big community versus two smaller ones.

i hope the specs are true. gsmarena said 900/2100 for 3g. love the design of omnia7
update: i think your are right http://www.omnia7.samsungmobile.com/
With the Rounded corners, the Focus will be much more pocket friendly. It should be easier on your pockets and more comfortable to carry.

It was my understanding they both have the same hardware, just a different form factor.
Would the Omnia 7 work on T-Mobile US 3G?
Edit: Hmm, does not support the 1700 band so probably not.

No, they have not the same hardware. it seems that the Omnia 7 does not support Micro SD. So, focus may be ugly... But you, american people are lucky to have it !!!!

Hey guys... Are there any significant differences between the different GSM versions of the SNAP? I know USA uses 1900MHz 3G but UK uses 2100MHz. Do all the versions have the capability to use ANY band?
I don't want to be stuck with a 2100MHz phone in USA. Are S521 and S522 virtually the same?
Anyone know?
A far as I know, I've never seen a phone that can support both. You need to wait for the US version to use the US 3g.

Yea, i ended up getting my Dash 3G this past weekend. I got it 2 days after the ROM date on it. Haha! Now to start cooking...
Two questions about the new Dash:
1. Is the battery removable? I have the extended battery on my Dash but it looks like the back is one piece on the Snap, so I doubt you can use it, but I'd still like to get a larger battery for a Snap.
2. Can you use the T-Zones hack?
Thanks,
Marc

the back on the snap/dash3g is one whole piece, but the standard battery for it is 1500mAh and it surely is removable ... I know that with my original dash, the extended 1500mAh battery is huge and required a new cover.
I'm still slightly on the fence about the 3G mainly because I'm still adjusting to the offset keyboard vs. the straight line of the original, and the scroll ball is still throwing me off on internet use.
I hope that there is an option to resume Internet Explorer sessions if I exit out, because currently when I exit out of IE, and pull it up again, it starts a full new session which kind of sucks if I'm browsing and need to send a txt or make a note of something.
other than that, I really enjoy the phone thus far, though I've only had mine a few hours.
see i'm actually looking FORWARD to it and I really like the fact that t-mobile is the only carrier who's phone are offset like an actual keyboard(I currently own a g1 which has the offset keyboard). Everyone else's phones are straight line keyboards. That's not a deal breaker but coming from a G1(persona phone) to a Fuze(work phone) I can't really get used to it. I still get thrown off.
so i have the Ozone..which is verizon's version of it and to be honest the off set everyone describes isnt that bad. yea ill admit it, ive missed the space bar a couple times, but like everything else it just takes some getting used too. But heres a pic of what they all look liked lined up against one another :

not to mention that x2 probably wont have xda support

I agree. The case will probably crack .
iPhone 3gs or samsung omnia pro it is then...
they better not ask 750 bucks for it out the door.. not with the same outdated procesor... ****in milkin it for all she's worth.... i smell a boycott... <disgrunted se customer
omg... i don't want it... the screen 3.2" is still too small (for me)... and why don't i buy the prettier X1 but the uglier & (likely to be) more expensive X2 ???
i thought it looked quite nice.lol. can never tell from just pictures anyway. ill reserve judgement for when i see one in the flesh. id imagine its like when they went from the p900 to p910. where they didnt really change the specs much but improved on a lot of the bugs and usuability. im hoping they sorted the keyboard issue and the terrible reception...
I thought it looked nice. The camera is better, and what does it for me is the fact that it gains tv-out.
Where does it say it is using the same processor?
another vid here

looks like much more solid than the x1, also its got a flush screen and the led has moved to the top rather than 2 on each side which is dissapointing. was hoping they had kept the illuminations and mayb added a user editor this time around.
very nice user interface but i wouldnt be surprised if someone manages to figure out a way to flash it to the X1
dont like the sound of this though..
"It comes with a 4GB microSD card (Sony Ericsson has clearly given up on M2) and will ship in October, likely when the first Windows Mobile 6.5 devices appear, exclusively with Vodafone in the UK. "
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...ny-ericsson-finally-launches-xperia-x2-631224
I wish our great cookers gonna steal some stuff from x2 like PanelManager and some new panels. On second video we can see that performance is quite bad, normal honeycomb menu is very choppy. I think it's waste of money when the same stuff we can have on our x1

im not gona hold my breath for an october release but i hope its out before christmas. one advantage to it using quite a bit of the same tech as the X1 is that sony should be able to release it much quicker than the X1.

well they can go to hell if it's the same CPU, f*ck them.
how Gille1, very interesting comment ...
hope it got an better cpu. heared it got 512 mb ram?
but it has a lot of advantages: 8.1mp camera, motion sensor, tv-out, bigger screen, stereo-speakers. not exactly the x1, right?
what do you think?
will it come out?
will there be same specs?
would you like it? I would
probably, maybe we'll see a big lineup leak next year.

I've been having excellence experience with Touch HD without hard keyboard. It is absolutely working for me and I type as fast most of the time compare to pc keyboards. And HD2 has faster processor, even bigger display size and capacitive screen. Do we really need to bother a hard keyboard which add bulkiness?
Typing with the on-screen keyboard is not a problem at all for me, but since I like playing games - a hardware keyboard of some sort is a must have. Unfortunately, there is a lack of games for WinMo and this is the only reason I own iPhone. A device from HTC with at least 4" sreen, hardware keyboard with D-pad and WinMo7 would be perfect, it could be the perfect mobile gaming device as well. Ahh... dreams.
A QWERTY version of the Leo is very likely to come out and, yes, it'll probably have the same specs, if not better. This is just a guess, but HTC is probably going to make it in the form of the Touch Pro 3.

Yes HTC usually update the models every 12 months, i.e.
Touch HD ---> HD2
Touch pro --> Touch Pro2
I currently have a Touch Pro2 and really hope there is a version 3 in the making and if it is then probably have to wait till the end of Q2 of 2010 for it.

Nexus s isn't available, and I don't like the my touch 4g to commercial to much bloat I'm looking for vanilla android experience or sense the evo was prefect also would like a 4.3 screen and front facing camera, was going for the DHD but it doesn't work in the states
The only differences between the evo and the hd2 that I can think of are:
The evo has hdmi out, 4g of course, an 8mp camera compared to 5, a kick stand, and uses cdma. I'm sure there are more differences.

I went from GSM to CDMA (AT&T to Sprint). From T-Mobile, you'd be saving since you get free roaming on Verizon (which you can force with Roam Control).
Why didn't Google "stay" with T-Mobile?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
BGR has a new post that has photos of what they believe to be the AT&T version of Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard. It also includes a couple of benchmarks; Linkpack and Quadrant. I can't believe that AT&T would do this... looks like I'm not getting the AT&T version...
http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/26/exclusive-images-of-atts-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-revealed/
oh my GOD thats ugly!! good thing i live in the UK, no carriers changing my device
Looks really ugly, it will just add to phone's thickness.. and even the camera looks weird in those photos!
Electricpig notes that the Linpack benchmark is about 18.6% higher than an unlocked Galaxy S II (58.544 MFLOPS vs 47.606 MFLOPS)... leading them to suspect that they bumped the CPU from 1.2 to 1.4. However, Quadrant doesn't seem to show much improvement (3056) but then again, Quadrant isn't the most consistent benchmark.
http://electricpig.co.uk/2011/07/26/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-slider-photographed-benchmarked-and-ready-for-prime-time/
is it just me or does the phone seem smaller than a international gs2 across the front of the screen? did they drop it down to 4"?
If Sprint also drastically changes the design then they have lost my purchase.

Corporate users love keyboards. They are also a prime target for LTE. Going this route kind of makes sense if this is their first LTE phone launched. I'm glad I got the unbasterdized version. Remember, the Z/R got FCC approval on AT&T's bands too. Maybe they'll carry that one also as their more consumer oriented version.
i'm not convinced this is att's official (or only) sgs2. the layout is completely different: camera placement, bottom physical button for instance.

Does this...
Or this...
Look like this...
SGH-i897 is the model number for AT&T's SGS1 so the model number for whatever phone's in the first post uses the same naming convention. Last round, Sprint got the keyboard. This time it looks like it'll go to AT&T.
damn, you're right. our only hope is this is not AT&T's version.
My biggest concern is that AT&T will screw with it so much that we'll need special developers for it. I think I would lose my mind if I went to flash a super duper kernel and it blew up in my hands.
Thank goodness I got the unmolested version of this device. Leave it to US carriers to take something amazing then ruin it.
The horror.. The horror...

Even if they left the majority of the phone as-is, you'll never be able to flash international ROMs due to the different radio(s). I'm sure devs working on it will be able to re-use a lot of what's already been developed but the phone will be too different to share s/w with other versions.
I just got really dissapointed really quickly. Im fine with having four buttons but the slide out keyboard is almost the point of being useless

that is entirely untrue...
The captivate for ATT can use international sgs 1 roms with a kernal that rotates the screen correctly the only difference is that the FM radio didn't work on the captivate as there was no FM radio.
ATT world phones use the same international frequencies as international phones. i currently have an internationall sgs2 and am using it with att with 4g.
keyboard not for me.... Good that I got the international sgs2
Also the Samsung galaxy R kinda looks nice and solid, even though lower specs and slightly thicker.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Its like they didn't want to release a phone thinner than the iPhone and maybe this even dissolves them of being liable and possibly being sued for selling it as-is. I'm not trying to be a fandroid or anything but I can't help think the ongoing legal battles between samsung and Apple somehow effected the outcome ... disenchanted ... but still optimistic ... would be nice to get new dimensions and weight of this bastardizes phone.

Big plus is that it's alegedly equipped to access Att LTE.
This data connection really has me teetering on selling it.
