Hi. I noticed that 3.5g data connectivity on my wildfire is rather slower as compared to my precious window mobile phone. Is there any way to tweak the settings to make it slightly faster?

hi, not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but as netcounter doesn't seem to differentiate between WiFi and 3g data on HTC desire, is there another application I can use instead?

3g watchdog?
+1 for this
I've seen 3g watchdog but it doesn't show WiFi, only 3g. I was after something that would monitor both.

network monitor? shows both wifi and network data usage separately
And the same with NetTraffic, shows both network and Wifi usage.
NetSentry
Does exactly what you need and you can set a limit so you don't exceed your data usage.
i use data counter widget. seems to be very good.

Anyone managed to work this out on Android yet?
used to massively save my juice on WM6.5
Guess this is a no go then... shame really the battery would have helped massively

Anybody has the same problem for slow download speed for apps from Market over WiFi? My Captivate download speed is like 10x faster. A simple 40MB data takes more than 10 to 12 minutes
What is causing the slow download speed? I'm running 802.11n at 2.4 GHz both my captivate and Atrix 4G
Same issue, I've noticed it's because it goes back to cell data. If you look when you load the market, the arrows below H+ come back and start showing that you are transmitting.
Cell data always activates when you open the market. Pretty sure that's how it validates what apps to show you. Not Atrix-exclusive.
Oh is that what it is? I didn't know that.

Yeah, that's why if you put it in airplane mode, then connect through wifi, you will see more apps since the att ones won't be blocked.

I seem to operate a lot slower for all browsing when connected to wifi... the cell data is a lot faster...
Don't know why

i found the webtop to be pretty slow because of this as well. even over wifi i find the internet to be slower than my captivate
So I have acouple of other phones, and they all have great wifi reception, but with my g2.. even when I'm next to the router... I still don't get full reception... any ideas?

Are u using any custom rom.l or stock rom?.. I have the week wifi with cyanogen rom's .. also the antennas on the phone are not in good places so in landscape mode while covering the top of the phone wifi signal drops no matter wat rom you use

yep, i think cyanogen has lower wifi volts than stock so u get less range.
i made a barebones stripped ROM based on the newest tmo OTA, i made optimizations to get better battery life, and stripped tons out to get the most ram possible, and keep the ui fast and snappy.
my newest version 1.3, offers the best battery life in any rom that i have ever used, its super fast (no need for OC), offers the most free ram and is located here :

give it a try!
Ah nice will sure be giving it a try!

I have thought that CyanogenMod has a bit weaker wifi reception, but I believe it also suffers another bug: the wifi icon will often go dark even when you have a full signal... So I think looking at the icon can be deceiving. Mine will go dark, looking like a bad connection, but will indeed work just fine.
To add make sure the setting under Wireless Networks > Wi-Fi Settings > [menu] > Advanced > Wi-Fi Sleep Policy is at your preference for when the wifi turns off at screen sleep.
So nope still not fixed tried the from, same. any other ideas? Or there's any way to up the voltages ?

Hi there,
I just got a nexus 7 and love it, however I need some help/advice.
As of course the n7 is WiFi only, I been using a tether with my android phone. Today however it decided to download the OTA update which was quite large and hit my monthly data usage.
Is there a way to automatically make my nexus 7 realise it's on a tethered connection and not decide to suck down huge amounts of data? Say for instance recognizing the ssid and turning off updates etc?
Thanks

I think you can use a software to limit data usage on your phone

Android actually has that function. I don't know exactly what it limits and what it doesn't.
But go to settings - data usage - options - mobile hotspot
There you can mark any of your remembered networks as a tethered data connection, which should keep it from getting heavy background traffic at least.
