so i was about to install the 2.3.15 leak. i bootstrapped than recovery and went into clockwork like usual. the problem is, when i press the camera button to select an option, it just goes into a black screen and does nothing. when i press the power button again it goes into the menu. i cant select anything cause it just goes into a black screen . ive tried to do a search and cant really anything. what is going on and how do i fix it?
i have a motorola droid x with the froyo 2.2 leaked version.
It might be worth a shot flashing an older version of Clockwork recovery then back to the current one. That has fixed alot of problems for me.

I had the nandroid recovery rom working perfectly, then I flashed the Eris based 2.1 rom (did a backup with nandroid prior to it), however, when I went to flash Fresh 2.0b on top of that, I noticed that holding the home key whilst booting did not boot into the recovery rom. Currently the only way for me to get into it is with adb reboot recovery.
This problem still persists after doing a wipe of the Eris based, and a flash of Fresh 2.0b. It's not a huge deal (I only go into it when flashing, and that's when by a computer anyway) but just knowing I can't is somewhat irritating.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
this may be obvious, but you're not holding the HOME button after the screen turns on, are you?
you have to hold the home button WHILE the phone is still off and then press the power button, so basically press the home button before the power button.
if that is what you did, try reflashing your recovery image. 1.6.2 is out.
I think I tried it both ways, will try again. I hope it's not something as stupid as that, I'd feel like a tard
I did install the newest to see if that would make a difference.
Edit: Yeah, holding first worked. Could've sworn I did that. Maybe when I had the USB plugged in it didn't like that? Oh well, thanks and now I shall stay quiet for I feel stupid.
I don't know if this is in the right section, but I've tried searching everywhere, and have been searching for quite sometime trying to some sort of solution and haven't found any yet. Here's the issue:
I rooted my friends Droid 2, wanted to put the Liberty ROM on there, got ROM-Manager and installed Clockwork Recovery, attempted to use Rom Manager to go into the Recovery and go from there. Instead it booted into the Bootloader, attempted to use hold 'X' and the Power button to get into the recovery. The backlight came on, and it never went into the recovery, just sat at the bootloader. Now to turn the phone on it needs to have the camera button and power button held, but will never go into the recovery. Alas I connected back to the urb cord, and it doesn't read the connection. After looking around, found out, that when I have the phone connected to usb all the drivers show up as unknown......
Ok, so as I was typing this, the usb/drivers suddenly decided to start working(no idea how), but when I try and get it into the recovery console it shows the droid/exclamation point, but no menu.
Any help would amazing, just wanting to get Liberty ROM installed, Or if anyone knows of a ROM that is closest to CyanogenMOD would be even better.
You need to use Koush's Bootstrap for recovery before you even attempt to install clockwork via ROM manager as this is an e-fuse locked phone it's not like the D1 or other HTC droids etc. (Please read a D2 ROM install before flashing anything as it will save you headache and time!)
If you want to get into the stock recovery just hit the search (magnifying glass) key on the keyboard after you get to the android screen with the exclamation mark, this will bring up the menu. You can use the volume keys or the keyboard directional arrows and select with the camera button or the "ok" button.

To get to the stock recovery to wipe data and cache, hold the power button and x on your keyboard. When the triangle comes up, press the magnifine glass to get to the recovery menu.
If that doesn't work, you might have to sbf

tried what you said, Still not letting me access the menu, I guess i'll have to sbf when I get home

P3Droid said earlier that the first gingerbread release had a dev recovery, which wouldn't work on our phones, hence why you couldn't get in it. He has recently released another gingerbread with the regular recovery.
I was interested in the recently leaked gb updates from verizon. I used this site http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...rbread-2-3-3-release-prerooted.html#post61686 to get gingerbread with root preinstalled. Now the thing is i'm stuck at bootloop everytime for more than 40mins (unable to reach homescreen) and when i try to access stock recovery (x and power key) the search key won't access the 4 menu stock recovery options.
This really frustrating since i cant even sbf the phone properly (needs to reach homescreen) any solutions?
Edit- "Remove battery, reinsert.
Open keyboard and hold the X.
Then while holding x turn the phone on and let go of the power button but keep holding the X
You should get a little green android. Now let go of everything.
Now push the volume up and down at the same time OR press the search button in the keyboard (magnifying glass). A blue menu should come up allowing you to clear cache and wipe/restore. "
for anyone who has trouble getting through bootloop problems
When trying to boot into stock recovery I get a little green android with an exclamation point, I cant seem to figure out what to do from here.

I just had this problem.
My recovery wasn't working, loading into the blue screen.
Download Download RSD Lite, the 2.3.20 SBF from MDW.
Start phone using power + up on dpad
Flash phone with sbf.
It should failed (at least for me)
Do a battery pull and start phone with power + x
when the android caution pic appears press the search button on the keyboard
do a wipe
What happened here, people stopped searching again!

Please don't post questions in the development section. They belong in the general section. Thanks.

As far is i can tell there is no need for a development section for the d2. For a phone thats been out forever theres nothing for it. Garbage
I am having the same issues. When i boot and hold down the power and vol up button, i just get the motorola logo and it sticks there until I pull the battery. I tried to go to bootstrapper and when i click on reboot recovery, nothing happens. When I click on Bootstrap recovery, it give an error where it looks like i need to root the phone.
All I want to do is get this phone to the factory settings as it has Gingerbread on it now. If you can send me something on how to do that, please let me know.
I did backup using clockwork, but since I can't boot into it, i can't restore.
Thanks
is your phone rooted? if not, then bootstrap wont work, and that also means clockwork wont work. to get back to factory, your going to have to flash the sbf, heres a vid on it:

by the way, you dont get into recovery with volume up, you do it by pressing the x button on the keyboard when booting up, then pressing the magnifying glass button once in recovery.
So wait will or won't the phone actually turn on? If it'll turn on just do a factory data reset in android from the menu.
