Can't get back to stock - Droid 2 General

I am having the same issues. When i boot and hold down the power and vol up button, i just get the motorola logo and it sticks there until I pull the battery. I tried to go to bootstrapper and when i click on reboot recovery, nothing happens. When I click on Bootstrap recovery, it give an error where it looks like i need to root the phone.
All I want to do is get this phone to the factory settings as it has Gingerbread on it now. If you can send me something on how to do that, please let me know.
I did backup using clockwork, but since I can't boot into it, i can't restore.
Thanks

is your phone rooted? if not, then bootstrap wont work, and that also means clockwork wont work. to get back to factory, your going to have to flash the sbf, heres a vid on it:
http://kimete.com/sbfrsd.html
by the way, you dont get into recovery with volume up, you do it by pressing the x button on the keyboard when booting up, then pressing the magnifying glass button once in recovery.

So wait will or won't the phone actually turn on? If it'll turn on just do a factory data reset in android from the menu.

after rooting, cant enter recovery mode to nandroid backup

I have spent the last few hours searching. I flashed the recovery-ra-heroc and let it set for a few minutes, reboot recovery, and it just sits on the black screen with "HTC" I remove the battery, restart the phone while holding down the home button (yes, holding it down firmly, lol), and it just gives me the option to clear storage on my phone. I am really wanting to get a rom on my phone, speed it up. Yes, I used the search function on this forum. I really dont want to go back to the RUU and lose everything on my phone. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be extremely greatful!!!
I would try rooting it again and follow the process step by step. Sounds like something wasnt done in the process.

Sounds like you should try to reflash recovery. I think you are only getting into fast boot. You aren't holding any other key with Home are you?
That sometimes happens to me...i just click on the green/call button to cancel n when the htc screen comes up i push Home n End...n hold it down..sometimes let go of it n push them again and it'll work...not sure, but i think this just happens with the newer recovery image.
no, not holding any other keys. I rooted a while back with the chuckrhizco (or whatever?) method, and had no issues. went back to stock to get ota update. I still have the old recovery image, think I will just try to flash that one.
just had an issue withthe other recovery image. Flashed the 1.2.3. and it worked, nandroid backing up now!

Can't get past bootloader...

So i installed a bootanimation and now my aria cant access the recovery/clockwork
it remains stuck on the bootloader in an endless cycle. The phone itself work's just the problem accessing recovery.
i also have a Nandroid backup on my SDcard if that helps :/
EDIT::: So after countless attempts of mashing unrevoked2 my bootloader finally got past the SPL entering clockwork and i restored my nandroid . but i'd like to leave this thread open for future cases for when it does happen to someone else and hopefully come up with a real resolution.
thanks

If you can access you phone and use any program you can try this program called Quick Boot. It will allow you to get into Fastboot, Recovery, and reboot phone. Here is the link hope this helps

Why didnt you just go into clockwork? Pull the USB cord, pull the battry to power down. Reinsert the battery. Hold the vol down button and press power. When Hboot appears, let go of the vol down button. After a few secs, scroll down to recovery and start clockwork. If you're in a boot loop when you bork the OS, pull the battery.
Funny you posted this, thought mine was a one off. I installed the new DriodX animation and it got stuck in a boot loop

i wasnt actually stuck in a boot loop/ the phone itself would start up and everything i could make calls send messages and what not. But if i went from the SPL(i think its called) and tried to enter recovery that's when it would send me back to the bootloader/SPL screen, the only option i could execute without it sending me back was 'reboot'

ah okay. Probably the recovery didn't complete flashing the first time. Glad you got it sorted out.

[Q] how to get into recovery mode on D2

I am trying to do an nandroid back up. The instructions say to power off, then hold the "Home Key" and the power button untill you see the triangle.
I am holding the picture of a house next to the menu key. Is that the correct key?
My unit just turns on normally even if I am holding mentioned key, which is the wrong key cause it should not have power until the phone is on and unlocked.
Thanks for help.

On the Droid 2 you have to go through a different way.
1. Make sure you have Koush's bootstrap app for the Droid 2.
2. Make sure you are bootstrapped via Koush's app.
3. Reboot to recovery through Koush's app.
You navigate menus with the volume buttons. You select with the camera button, and you go back with the power/lock button.
you can also utilize the keyboard arrows, use ok to select and delete to back up.

Ok, got it from the Market and it installed. I started it and did not know what to do, so I hit the first button, then the second button, then went to Backup/Restore and chose backup.
It is working as i type this.
Thank you so much
yes you would select backup. Once you do this it will backup to you backup folder on your sdcard. If you were to need to go back, you would utilize the restore option and select whichever backup you wanted to use.
if your phone is boot looping or anything to get into recovery:
-start up phone
-let the phone go to the bootscreen (the droid eye screen after the M logo)
-pull the battery out while in the bootscreen
-after a few seconds replace battery and boot up phone
-phone will boot into clockwork recovery

Good advice. I believe there is a flag that gets set when you shut down the phone, and it only gets reset when you successfully boot. That way, if you boot loop, when you try to boot again it goes to recovery.
This also manifests itself sometimes when you flash a rom. Everytime you boot, it first goes into clockwork recovery, which is annoying, but fixable. This problem occurs because you need to bootstrap again which allows the flag to get reset when the OS loads.
only bootlooping when connected USB
I dont know what happened I simply had my phone attached to my pc in USB mode (after transferring music to the sd card via "media sync") and when I switched to 'charge only' and attached my head phones, my phone went into a boot loop. i unplugged USB cord and bootloop stopped... anyone run into this at all? kinda frustrating since now i apparently can now longer attach to my pc.
any help would be greatly appreciated
win xp
OTA stock 2.2
rooted w/bootstrap installed
i already attempted recovery

update
apparently it was a problem w/my pc! it was giving me problems disconecting or even accessing my portable hdd as well.

You might get more help if you rename your topic title to something more descriptive.
Second, try searching the forum; this has been discussed in numerous threads on both this forum and the developer's section, along with how to fix it.
Try the threads about the update, or dialing a certain code to force it manually (that's where I learned the timing trick to get into stock recovery on the NS). On the screen you're at, try pressing and holding power, then pressing/holding volume up, that should get you into stock recovery.
Also, if you can get into fastboot, you can fastboot flash the CWM recovery back to the device. If you made an nandroid before doing anything, you can at least go back to the device's state before you tried the update.
i could not find anything on this issue on google or here
i tried doing vol up and power, but its still at the screen, and my computer doesnt recognize my phone
use the instruction on the topic to ROOT the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875875
and in one of the steps you can use the ADB to push a good ROM back into the phone to be re-flashed
Try just pulling the battery.
If not, you'll have to use fast boot from the SDK. Just follow the howto at the top of this forum to flash original images.
thank you so much!
i locked my bootloader again, and i've been trying to get the 2.3.1 update, but everytime i do try, it freezes at the android warning sign. i also tried installing it via rommanager when i was rooted...whats going on?
any ideas what could be wrong?

Are you able to get into Fastboot?
I wonder if part of your problem is that you relocked the bootloader. (Why'd you do that anyways? No advantage, imo.)
Fastboot oem unlock will completely wipe your phone, I mean WIPE EVERYTHING, including the sdcard (photos, music, some apps' data, etc), but such a wipe might get you back to stock firmware and stock recovery, then at least you could boot up. You could also then reflash CWM.
Before doing that, let's try this if you haven't:
Turn off phone.
Hold vol-up, then press/hold power.
You should then be in fastboot mode.
The timing's critical (on my phone anyways) for this step: Select recovery, and have your hands on the power button and volume button ready to push.
Watch the screen very closely, for a bout a half second or so, the screen will flash a box with an arrow dumping out onto the android dude. While that screen is showing, press/hold the power button, then press/hold the vol up button. Important to do the power button FIRST this time (at least it is on my phone).
You should then be able to get into the stock recovery.
Once there, maybe we can figure out where to go, but we need to know how messed up your phone is at this point.
Once in Recovery, you could try wiping cache if it's an option, then trying to reboot. Worth a shot, but not likely to work.
You could also do the factory reset wipe in there, this one shouldn't wipe your sdcard if there's anything critical/valuable on it. It will reset all your settings and logins and wipe the apps you've installed, though. Again, might let you boot up normally.

droid x boot Loop, and Can't get into Recovery Mode

I used sbf_flash in linux to flash the 602 sbf image from verizon (My carrier). This worked as expected, and I was able to root the phone from there. I installed Rom manager and Droid 2 bootstrap, and took a backup image.
I should point out that Rom manager would not take an image on its own, it only rebooted the phone, I had to use the menu in droid 2 bootstrap to create the backup.
I installed the miui rom, and after a while decided to switch back, but Rom Manager and Droid 2 bootstrap wouldn't work. (I've heard you're not supposed to use bootstrap from miui. It rebooted my phone and seemed to have erased my phone's data).
I tried to sbf flash my phone again to get back to stock gingerbread, but now it boots in a loop at the red ball logo. If I hold home and the volume buttons when pressing power to get to recovery mode, the triangle appears but no menu loads.
Am I stuck? Please tell me that something can be done with ADB or some other recovery tool.
EDIT:
Nevermind I was following the Froyo instructions to get into recovery mode I needed to to follow the gingerbread instructions:
Froyo Instructions:
take out battery and reinsert
hold the home key and the power button when turning on
press search to get into recovery
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
reboot
NOTE: the volume up/down are move up down; camera is select; and power is go back.
Gingerbread Instructions:
Pull the battery and reinstall
Hold home and power as you turn it on
Press both volume keys simultaneously at the droid/triangle screen
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Reboot
NOTE: the volume up/down are move up down; power is select; back key moves back
Yeah I was gonna say to wipe everything in recovery if you could then try download mode but you got it ha.
I know what to do! Disable USB debugging and it will work. rememeber to enable it back once finished.
Edit:
Oh. I thought you have problems getting to cwm.
