Hey everyone.
I have a mytouch slide and i noticed my power button appears to be pushed in and its hard to press it.
My phone is still under 1 warranty, do you think t-mobile would do something about this ?
Anyone has the same problem ?
Calling them and asking for a replacement would be the easiest route. I'd try that first.
Yes they will replace it.
Edit: And if they give you crap about it, tell them you think it poses a bodily harm issue as the edge around the depressed button is sharp...

hey guys, I got HD2 about 3 months ago and now it started to act weird even though I was taking a real care of it.
the thing is, the volume button (the up one specifically) keeps pressing by itself ALL the time! it is not letting me do anything with the phone cuz it keeps showing me the volume screen.
so if anybody please have any idea how to fix this or to disable the volume button forever! I called the HTC technical support but they had no idea how to fix it.
thanks.
wow! no replies!!... shame
Sorry to say this but I think the only solution is bring phone to assistence
If the button remains "locked" probably there is something wrong in the internal cover that needs to open the phone to resolve but if you done so you loose warranty
Only thing You could try is to give the rocker a hard blow with pressure air (like for cleaning notebook keyboard). Maybe a lot of dust is stuck in there ?

I was taking really good care of it, but will still try to do so. hopefully that will work.. Thank you.
Ok, so my phones rooted and the power button recently started sticking and just not working the past few days. should i unroot it before i bring it into sprint or will they probably not look at that? also what is their policy with this problem, will they replace the phone or send me to insurance?

Had this issue they replaced the button and it was fixed.
I would unroot just in case.
You don't want your line marked as rooted in case you ever have an issue again.
thats what i was thinking, better safe than sorry.
you could try to replace it yourself i you were game its quite easy to take the phone apart and you can get the Power button online. It maybe just dirt/dust or something making it stick.
bump for update from OP
My phone was repaired by an amateur, unfortunately, just 2 weeks ago. I never anticipated needing my volume button again since I can just manually turn down the volume myself through navigating through the menus.
Unfortunately for me, again, I never anticipated having to us the volume buttons to navigate through the magldr when attempting to upgrade to windows mobile 7.
Is there a way that I can go back to my original windows rom? Or get the phone back up and running again without having to deal with the volume button repair?
-Side note, sort of
I called the place that repaired it and the guy isn't in to help me out, so hopefully I'll get a hold of him Monday and work something out. I want to avoid the shop as much as possible though because... ummm, let's just say he did a horrible job with replacing the digitizer.
Mmmmmmmm this is quit a predicament you have here as you need the volume down button to manualy enter bootloader.. Not good!!!!
The tech ripped the tiny ribbon cable that goes to the rocker buttons for the volume. The ribbon cable is $50 on eBay. I'd try to jump the traces with a tiny screwdriver first though.
I'm guessing it's not on an auto-boot?
I have exactly the same problem! except the amateur technician is me and now I just found out that apparently I haven't rooted the phone the right way, but I'm stuck
same problem here, i cut the volume keys ribbon and now I am stuck to mgldr v 1.3

Nice find and nice post, hopefully this can help a lot of people that have this issue or at least technicians that repair this problem.
Thanks a bunch. I got the same issue.. I will try to fix, and will let you all know. Hoping for I havent thrown the broken piece..
I have an HD2 that has its volume buttons ripped too... I'm on SD Android right now (thankfully HSPL and such didn't need volume buttons, and WinMo has an EnterBootLoader.exe)
So am I to assume that even 6 months after this was posted, there's no way to properly navigate MAGLDR without volume buttons?
To my knowledge, that's the only way to move up/down in magldr.
okay so one day im just texting on my KIN one and i press the symbols button i press it again to take off the symbols but it stays on after a little I'm able to get it back to letters i press the symbols button again and this time it stays that way i left the battery out for a day and a half and still no change, it's sooo annoying i don't even know how it got like this and it never happen before! HELP! i can't even text and my mom will kill me!
Has the phone experienced any water or exposure damage? There is a possibility that the contacts are obstructed or worn out underneath the keypad so while you still get a tactile response from pushing the buttons no electrical signal gets sent.
In that case you're kind of screwed.
There is also the possibility though that it's a software issue in which case you could push C + B + Power (all at the same time) which should reset your phone.
i haven't had the phone for that long only like 6 months and nope no water damage i've dropped it likee 3 times so idk if thats it. I tried the reset thing didn't work ): so im guessing the screwed option comes in2 play,.....moms gonna flip
It could definitely be a hardware issue.
You know, FWIW I just bought a kin one off of eBay, the used ones are going for like $60-65 atm. Since the issue you're having is non-fatal I imagine you could probably get $30-45 if you sell yours on there.
If you do end up replacing your phone though, keep in mind that it's not that big of a deal to switch phones. All you do is power off the old phone then dial *228 (or *288, I forget which) on the new one and follow the instructions. Other than the price of buying a new unlocked phone the process is free. You even get to keep your current contract without having to pay the Early Termination fee.
But, that is a different story, this is the Kin One forum. {c:
thnx sooooo much for the help but like where can i get the hardware issue fixed at without going to verizon and paying an arm and a leg?
No problem (c:
See, that's the thing about these phones. Ever since Microsoft decided to throw them on the curb nobody's wants anything to do with these phones anymore. It is very hard to get any professional support for them.
You might try asking about your issue in Verizon's Kin subforum to see if anyone has a similar issue. Verizon rep.s hang out there and post quite a bit. There is the slightest chance that with a lot of luck and a little browbeating you might be able to get them to replace the phone for you.
Is it a One or a OneM? (OneM has calendar and calculator) You'll have more luck if it's a OneM since that model at least isn't completely discontinued.
i have the OneM and i hope so because i havent told my mom yet XD and verizon is 2 expensive these days
You should be able to get a replacement KIN...depending on if it's a KIN one or a kin onem. Most Verizon devices however have a warranty that allows you to get a replacement device free of charge (it will more than likely be a "certified" used device). So just go to the verizon store and they will take care of you. Hopefully this helped
Nothing Wrong
There is nothing wrong with your phone at all. The green symbols button is pressed ONCE for a one time symbol use. I.E., if you type "I love this" then press the green button, then press "a", you will get an exclamation point. If you continue typing it is back to letters without you needing to press anything. If you press the green button TWICE, then you get the equivalent of symbol lock. In other words, if you type "I love this" then hit the green button, then press a, then hit the green button immediately after, you will enable symbols lock, and when you type the green symbol on the key only shows up. Also, if you press the green button twice in a row this will happen.
It probably says this in the manual somewhere. Let me know if that works.
Hey everyone,
So I just got a replacement phone from T-mobile through a warranty exchange and have had an intermittent issue with it lately.
After using my phone I always press the power button quick to lock the screen and turn it off. Well when I do that it occasionally will go black for a second then turn back on in the locked state. It can take up to 6 or 7 attempts of pressing the power button quick to turn the screen off like it should.
Trying to use the power button to turn the screen back on once locked it has a similar issue but it will turn on for a second then go black again. This can take several attempts to get the screen to keep on so I can use the screen.
Anyone have an idea on a cause or even better a solution to this?
My best guess is a hardware issue that I cant do much about besides trying to do another exchange with T-mobile.
Any help is appreciated.
The warranty exchange phones are re-furbished phones and it isn't uncommon for there to be something wrong with the warranty replacement. Hopefully if you haven't rooted the phone then just call them back up and tell them that there is something mechanically wrong with the warranty replacement. They won't be surprised and they'll send out another one.
remember you can always unroot....
Well of course ... but I mean if he just got the replacement phone then he may not have rooted it so it's one step less prior to sending it back ... that's what I meant.
