Hey everyone. I recently fixed my friend's G1 that took a bath in some jack and coke. I replaced the digitizer and lcd using parts from my phone. The mainboard was fine. During the repair, I ripped the sliding hinge ribbon; another part I had to donate to the phone. Finally he was playing with the backplate, dropped it and broke the camera. There goes another part into the phone.
When everything was done, the phone seemingly worked fine. After using it for a few days, he reported the camera app crashing on him. I ended up backing up his phone and did a factory reset from the recovery menu. The problem still persisted after these measures so I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks.

Hello,
I'm facing the following situation:
I droped my Trinity and the LCD broke on the left side pretty bad. It booted fine after that (the LCD was still visible on the right side) but after 10-15 seconds it just froze. The hardware buttons were not working, nor the touch commands. I could only rest the phone with the stylus.
I successfully replaced the LCD by myself and now I'm stuck with the freeze. I was hoping the freeze will disappear but I have the same symptoms as before.
I tried a hard-reset but after that the phone froze during the booting process with the logo on the screen.
I entered the bootloader and connected the phone to the PC. It worked just fine and the freeze didn't occur anymore. I uploaded a new ROM but again, during the booting process I got the goddamn freeze.
I was hoping that everything beside the LCD survived the crash but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I would appreciate any advice or hints on how to find what could cause my problem.
Thanks
If its freezing up on you then I would imagine you've caused some hardware damage.
Like you, I would have hoped that replacing the broken LCD woudl fix it, but there's nothing to say you havent partially damaged or dislodged something else, especially if it was a high-impact drop...
PS
I wouldnt try doing any more uploads to it either if I were you. If it freezes up during one of those then you could end up trashing the program area of your device too!...
Hi guys,
I had quite the same problem, without braking the lcd but anyway it fellt from a airplane onboarding bridge :-( and then it has started to randomly freeze.
I think I may have found something. I've noticed that when I press strongly the battery it's not freezing anymore!
I've opened the phone and saw that under the little metalic protection's plate there were a contact plate between a little black component and this metallic protection'splate. I've cleaned it, apply some thermal past (like cooling artic) and the I've put a little sheet of paper between the plastic frame and the metallic protection's plate. I've all remounted.. And surprise!!! not one freeze since two day!!
I hope it will last.. but if yes this s F### great
ähm.. I release any kind of responsabilities concerning this action. I'm not a professional but as soon as it has work for me I wanted to share it ;-)
Seeeervus!!
Dodjob.
Last night, one of the springs broke on the slide out keyboard of my XV6800. The sliding is loose and sometimes gets hung up on the broken pieces. A visit to my local VZW store today revealed that the phone wil not be fixed, but will be replaced under warranty. Now I have to start all over after all the customizations and installed programs... What happened to the days when a simple phone problem was fixed on site? This spring can't be a big job to fix...
In all my reading, I don't remember anyone mentioning broken springs on this phone. Anyone heard of this happening?

if you do a complete backup of your phone then when you get the new phone put the rom that the backup file uses on it then restore your backup, voila all your work isnt lost.
I actually had all 4 screws loosen on my most recent. Therefore, the face came completely off and the ribbon cable broke leaving my phone bricked for a couple days. Things happen.....
I recently opened up my HD2 - t-mobile to fix the plastic cover on the flashlight. I followed the official HTC video on how to open it and successfully installed the piece. Then I turned it on and found out that the touchscreen didn't function. I had a look inside but that didn't help. I can't send it back to t-mobile because i already opened it which voids the warranty. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!
Wow...thats...pretty terrible. Make sure that the connector to the touchscreen is firmly seated in it's port and that it's not damaged..and if it is...then consider yourself the lucky new owner of a cracked digitizer! But seriously, if everything LOOKS okay, its probably got a hairline crack, or static has got to it.
Will removing the screen require me to heat my phone and stuff?
I woke up this morning and found that my phone was functioning for a minute then it failed on me.
No, it won't require you to "heat the device" or whatever, and what do you mean it failed on you? It won't do anything now?
Only the touchscreen is malfunctioning so the phone is basically useless.
I have my Android HD2 and I've been using it for over a year now and use it only on android. Yes i understand how to flash roms and it does have clockwork installed. I used the Cyanogen 7 latest rom and flashed it to that only about a month ago and I thought it was doing fine until like a few days ago i tried touching the screen and it did not work? Most of the time the screen is not responsive in the unlock screen but there are times when it will work. Heres the thing, this only occurs when i use the harware buttons along the bottom then the touch screen fails to work on the next multiple attempts but maybe 10 minutes later it will work. Once the phone is unlocked from the touch screen it has no problems. Only when the screen goes off again does it have a problem. I have tried clearing cache/data, flashing various other roms, flashing multiple kernels, even formatting the sd card and starting from scratch. But no luck. Problem continues to reoccur. Can anyone help at all?
It's a problem with the digitizer, i just had to replace my digitizer, power button is right on top of the digitizer ribbon and messes up the ribbon after some time. you have to replace the digitizer, and there's a very good video on youtube about how to do it.
I paid 36.99 w/ free shipping for a digitizer on ebay.
Do you have sweaty palms? or sweaty hair when calling?..
sometimes, when your LCD absorbs you sweat, it temporarily make your digitizer unresponsive, just let it dry and it will be fine again.
but if not, then a digitizer fault.
I'm sorry to tell you from your description.. you too have been victimized by this common problem. I had 2 hd2s that this happened to. It is definitely hardware. I now start to use an app called button savior and only use that end key rarely. You have to replace your digitizer. There is a big thread about this somewhere here.

Recently my Nexus 6P got some water damage from a canoe trip (even though it was in a water "resistant" pelican case), and was not booting up. Took it to get repaired and the shop cleaned up the corrosion on the bottom of the phone where they said the water damage was. Phone booted up perfectly and everything was working great - wifi, gps, speakers, vibration motor, etc.
A few moments later my wife called me and I answered only to realize that she could not hear anything from my end. The microphone was not working. Took the phone back and they replaced the bottom PCB (daughterboard) of the phone which holds one of the main microphones.
No luck. Now I'm able to use my Nexus 6P for EVERYTHING except making phone calls, which kinda blows. I know I could use bluetooth etc. but that's not really a solution for me.
Does XDA community have any thoughts / ideas about what the problem could be and any possible solutions for me?
Thanks a ton guys!
Nathan
I think your only option is to take it back to the repair shop again.
Shop said that is all they could do for me. The daughterboard is brand new, so if the microphone is still not working, could it be something wrong with the connection to the main board? Would replacing the ribbon cable prove useful?
Thoughts appreciated!
Nathan
Without seeing the device it's very hard to say, but yeah, possibly.
I'm having the similar issue where I went to a foam paarty and got the phone wet. Fortunately everything is working fine except the proximity sensor. Sent phone to Ubreakifix for repair but tjeu couldn't find the part anywhere. Huawei/Google don't provide the replacement part & Huawei don't repair water damaged phone.
If someone could tell me where can I find the Proximity Sensor replacement will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
