I have tried many 2.1 Sense UI ROM's on my Magic 32B :-
Sapphire PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBoot- 1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
Radio- 2.22.19.26I
I have faced many issues ranging from non-working GPS or Market through to constant FC's when I had found a ROM that wouldn't FC on me I had to either patch the GPS flash gapps to my phone or even flash the BFS230 file only to be hit with issues. I have been hitting a brick wall on here with so many different ROM's with various different fixes etc and now I just want a 2.1 Sense UI ROM that will work fine for daily use with few to no FC's or constant lag.
My class 4 sdcard is partitioned to swap/ext4/fat32 and no change in problems.
I have not had many issues with 1.5 Sense UI but it can be a bit of a battery drainer
I am currently running AOSP Froyo 2.2 without any problems apart from the fact I can not load up the HTC_IME keyboard app as I cannot use a qwerty keyboard well on my phone because I have large fingers which are not that nimble. I do have BetterKeyboard (i haven't tried with froyo 2.2 yet) but that doesn't seem to do the T9 predictive text.
Please can someone help me out?
EDIT......Thanks to Gimpsta.com I have now got my T9 customised keypad. Does anyone know how I can link facebook profile to my phonebook WITHOUT SenseUI as I have found the Froyo ROM 95% ideal now just to link my contacts similer to the people app on senseui

I'm not new to this I've flased a lot of G1s
Trying to flash the Magic I have I'm running into serious problems tho
I got it rooted no problem
The problem is only certain roms will even work
For instance if I flash cyanogen newest mod (After first flashing defanged and not rebooting first, yes I don't need my hand held on every step, I THINK I'm going it right it's not working) anyways after I flash it it fires up but I cannot "touch the droid" the touch screen simply does not work
This happens on almost all the roms I try
There are 3 that DO work though, it's not hardware, when I flash back to any of these 3 the touch screen starts working so I don't think it can be hardware problem
RA-IONv1.6.3G.zip
dwang-v1.10.zip
jacheroski2.2b.zip
These 3 Rom install no problem
The problem is Ra-Ion and Dwang the widgets don't work, they won't update at all
And the Jacheroski has problems moving icons and widgets (Yes I know this is prob because it's hero)
The point is I can't get a stable rom where the widgets AND the touch screen work correctly
And I've tried a few of them, Cyanogen and Xrom Eclair both I can't touch the android
Can anyone help me get a correct rom that the widgets work on? Prefferable 1.6 or higher, I don't need the newest best rom, just a stable rom where it's rooted and the widgets work
I did some google searches about not being abel to touch the android but it only showed me the fender edition and the new one with the 3.5mm jack which is not what I have
My fastboot screen says this to save a question

Try Super D 1.9.3. Very stable, very fast. I wouldn't use any other ROM, personally. Sounds like you are having conflicts. Are you performing a full wipe before flashing over new roms? Silly suggestion, but it always seems to fix the problems. Also, what recovery are you using?

I'll try it
Yes I always wipe all 3 partitions before each flash
I believe it's amanra 1.6.2 it's the newest one I could find
It's real weird, when I flash a one of those 3 roms the touch screen starts working every time, then stops any time I flash others
I have the same exact issue with latest Cyanogen. See: hxxp://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?/topic/1945-problem-black-screen-hang-after-android-load-screen/
Do older ones work? I confirm that RA-IONv1.6.3G.zip works. My widgets (power, calendar, search) work just fine.
Have you tried Super D 1.9.3? Curious.

Another thread states that changes in screen/digitizer may be an issue. Makes sense since mine aren't the originals. You?

It's because a rom has to be ported in a certain way in order for the touch screen to work. Search for Fender roms. The Fender and mt3g with 3.5mm headset jack are the same thing. It's not the same hardware as the original mt3g, and HTC has not yet released all the goodies that the devs need to work with and make new roms.

Oops, my mistake. The 3.5 jack version was the only one I'd heard about with the touchscreen not working.
** REPOST **
With both roms i am getting ALOT of FC's such as:
- activity htc sense is not responding (FC, then re-loads)
- touch input process com.htc.android.htcime (FC)
- multiple app FC's, too.
I am currently using:
MT3G Sapphire PVT 32B/HBOOT-1.33.0006/Radio-2.22.23.02
CM4 Recovery/Amon-Ra Recovery 1.5.2G
Anyone else having this issue and how did you overcome it?...................
are u using any taskillers, if u are u need to be careful of what tasks u r killing. i had this problem a while ago but i cant remember exactly what i changed
Which hero rom can i use on my 32b , and is the hero rom faster then the magic roms ??
You can try 'KiNgxKxlicK Hero2G1' but for me it didn't work a 100 percent.
The problem for me on that ROM was that the HTC Sense kept reloading certain times. Now I use a Hero ROM and replaced the kernel and more stuff. Too much work for you nonetheless.
Ive heard most HERO ROMS are slow..i use Cyanogen ROMS which are great for daily use...Just flash a Sense theme on your ROM to give it that Sense feel..except u wont have all the Sence widgets.
Hello,
I was going to upgrade my Magic ROM to sense UI one...
If I upgrade my rom, will it delete the Current Android 2.2 in my Phone...???
Thanks

Way to tell us what you currently have!
If you don't currently have a Sense UI rom... then more than likely, yes because MOST Sense UI roms require a wipe before installing. Consult your developer.
An important question to you would be... what kind of MyTouch do you have?
32A
32B
MyTouch with 3.5mm headphone jack (32A/32B hybrid... but mostly 32B)
If you don't know what any of that is... you're probably not even rooted yet. REQUIREMENT!
There are very few Sense UI roms for 32B devices (AND MyTouch 1.2!) because many of the Sense UI roms require the 32A kernel and radios.
So if you currently use a MyTouch 1.2 (with 3.5 headphone jack) or a 32B spl then you won't have the full Sense UI anyway. You'll be missing video recording and bluetooth plus you'll be required to place many of the system files (and data!) on a seperate partition on your sdcard AND have a third partition for swap (unless you use the fat32 partition to create the swap.swp file).
So... bottom line... yes. It does effect Android.
Suggestions?
Make a backup with nandroid before doing ANYTHING!
Also use a backup app. Titanium, MyBackupPro, etc.
READ, SEARCH, READ, SEARCH and READ/SEARCH some more!
Hello there guys,
I am a newbie android user and i just got HTC Magic at my hands. I had HTC Click before and had rooted & flashed it to CM7 but it was clear and straight with auto-root one click and flashing rom. Now i need help 'cause I have no idea what to do to speed up my HTC magic 'cause it's waaaaay too slow!
Here are it's specs and my questions:
HTC Magic 32B (from Germany, The Vodafone one)
Android Version: 2.2.1 official
Baseband Version 65.50SJ.20.17U_2.22.28.25
ALSO
Sapphire PVT 32B Ship S-On G
Hboot-1.33.0013 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO - 2.22.28.25
if needed!
These are things I know about my phone.
So my questions are:
1) Is there a way to root & flash a custom rom so i can speed up my cell without the danger of bricking it (i read some things over the forum for such problems in my version 32B)
2) Is the cracked rom (CM for example) version faster than the official one?
3) If it's not safe can i downgrade to 1.6 official rom so it's faster?
Considering i'm a new user please answer accordingly.
Thanks in advance for your time and your answers,
M.
Use superoneclick or gingerbreak to root.
Flash a custom recovery with rom manager.
Cm dropped support and the last official version for the magic is 6.1. It slows down over time.
Ezgingerbread is the fastest gb rom for d/s.
Dreamteam froyo is a quite fast froyo rom. I recommend it over cm (and I am not biased at all /sarcasm). I am currently running a web site on it with great uptime and good performance.

btw i want this ROM to be installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932118
You are already on the latest radio/spl so flashing that is a bad idea
To flash a rom just reboot into recovery and follow the menu to flash it.
Why Ginger yoshi? If you want fast, any gingerbread is a bad idea
i've put this ROM now and it's quite fast but not enough as i wanted. no serious improvement and it's lack of android's 'navigation' :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882356
i think i'm gonna try this one, what do you think of?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576893
If you want fast, gingerbread and sense ate the wrong way to go.
Ezgingerbread is the best gb rom we have.
Try my dreamteam froyo rom (should be in my sig). Its quite fast.
I finally flashed the DreamTeam froyo ROM and it's WAY faster than the previous. I love this ROM, thanks a lot for your help m8!
