Facebook for HTC Sense issue

Just did a factory wipe of my phone and now when trying to log in to Facebook for HTC Sense I am getting: The service is currently unavailable. Would you like to try again. Tried again with and without wireless to no avail.
Anyone else having this issue?

Restored back to a Nandroid backup that had been working fine, removed the Facebook for HTC Sense sync account and tried re-adding it, getting same issue. Sounds like a problem with Facebook.

Just flashed my Desire tonight and I can't sync Facebook.....it's getting me mad now.....grrrrrrr

It is ok, that is a very useless bloatware feature of Sense... Soo lucky!

I like the Facebook for HTC Sense app, it sync pictures for all of my contacts to their Facebook accounts so I don't have to. I loved that feature in MobileShell 3.5 for Windows mobile.

In regards to Facebook I can help you with that. Please try the following steps if these do not help please contact the HTC helpline. Check People>Menu>View and confirm is the Facebook and/or the Facebook for HTC Sense is ticked. Log into there Facebook Account online and check if anything has changed. Does your password contain any unusual characters? (!ӣ$%^&*()_+) etc. Open People app>select the globe symbol>Facebook>Menu> Refresh. If you have checked all this and it fails try Home>Menu>Applications>Manage Applications >Facebook for HTC Sense>Clear Cache>Clear Data. Home>Menu>Settings >Accounts & Sync>Facebook for HTC Sense>Sync Now. I trust that this resolves your query. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required.

HTC Sense Not Playing Nice with Facebook
Followed the steps in the post and Facebook for HTC Sense now connects, but it still doesn't seem to be working properly. If I go to a contact and try to link it to a facebook contact it doesn't show any of my contacts. Definitel sounds like Facebook changed something that broke the way the HTC Facebook app interacted with it.

Functionality seems to be restored for some users now, I personally had to nandroid restore back to a few days ago pre-FB/HTC issue, but once I did that+some muddling/restarts, all contacts sync'd as they should. YMMV

I have had the same issue with sense not getting along with face book. In people, where you choose which contacts to show, I checked my contacts for face book but it showed 0 of them. After restoring any data I thought would help thru titanium, un-installing fb, re installing fb, and re booting did things seem to be back to normal.

Apparently HTC have advised some customers that the issue will be fix within 48 hours.....so give it until Christmas and we'll be able to sync again

Facebook for HTC Sense

i recently purchased a htc wildfire and syncd my facebook account with htc sence. Initially it worked like a charm adding facebook information and pics of all my phone contacts. But later when i changed my facebook password on the site, and created a new account on facebook for htc sence on my phone as i had to modify its password, the account was created successfully and it also updates evrything. But now i dont have any of my facebook contacts or contact information and pictures of my phone contacts that were synced with facebook. All the remaining features like Friendstream work perfectly and show all the updates. Please help.

I have the exact same problem.
However it appears its a common bug in the HTC Sense Facebook for Android 2.1.
I am going to contact HTC by mail to see what's up.

I have not yet gotten a response from HTC.
I googled for some longer time.
Apparently, Facebook broke something and they are trying to fix it.
I am afraid the only thing is to wait.

Hey guys,
Hoping you can help me with this besides doing a hard reset. I had to resync all of my People contacts over again and now they won't link with Facebook contacts (won't show the Facebook picture in Favorites or link in People at all - when I'm in People and click the sync button to click 'link Facebook profile', the list is empty).
I've tried loggin out and then back in to Facebook, but no luck.
What can i do to fix this?

I think I just fixed it (I googled the error message and tried a couple things I read):
I went to the setup program (the one that you got the first time you started the phone), and went through it until reaching the facebook options. Logged out, and logged in again. I then re-synced HTC contacts and slowly it refreshed the Facebook stuff and I could manually link contacts to FB contacts.

Facebook Account issue's

Upgraded to the new version of Froyo 'Android 2.2 (FroYo) On HTC [03 Sep 2010] (V1.6) ' and when I go to add account, I choose Facebook, and after a slight pause, returns to the General synch settings page, but no Facebook.
Worked fine on previous release of 2.1.
I downloaded Facebook from Market.
Any advice would be appreciated, possibly I have the wrong version for the phone??

Could this be because of a 'non-existing' link between the sync settings and the facebook app?
(Maybe because of some recent facebook app update?)
The facebook app itself works by the way, (notifications, widget, app etc) But it would be nice to sync contacts etc as well (A)

It doesn't work in mine either. (UK O2 Streak with official 2.1 update.)
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon as I liked how it automatically downloaded a profile picture for every contact in my phone.

A little reading may have a clue...
Althought I cannot confirm, it appears there's 2 versions fo facebook available for us.
Facebook for Android or HTC Facebook for Sense. I recon I must have had HTC Facebook before which does synch the contacts..
Anyone confirm this??? Anywhere to download and test HTC Facebook for Sense??

Facebook Contact Sync
Hi Guys,
I'm now in XDANDROID FRX04 with the latest facebook from the market and have the same problem, facebook does not sync the contacts.
Does someone make it work?
Does someone have a working apk of HTCFacebook?

Does not work for me either with XDAndroid FRX04 or Froyo X Red.
Right now i am using: SyncMyPix to sync Facebook contacts on my phone until this problem is resolved.

If the problem is between facebook app and phone contacts, perhaps it's because google blocked that feature. If it's between the app and facebook, no idea, it works for me.
Edit: NVM, I see what's the problem and dunno why

Duplicate contacts after setting-up sense

This morning some strange thing has happened. I added my HTCSense account to my DHD just to try. After couple of hours my notification bar signalled the link persons sign and when I opened the notification, it was showing multiple (20+) possible links. After checking I found out that all my contacts were duplicated and, that some of them were automatically linked. I think adding my sense account is responsable for this problem. Anybody else experienced this problem and suggestions to solve. Removing Sense account does not solve this, already tried.

I have used Google Contact to remove all my duplicates.
Once you sync your contact list with Google account, you can go to http://www.google.com/contacts
There is a button called "Find Duplicates".
There are probably 100s of ways to fix this, but this has worked for me.

yes fixing it within gmail contact options, remove duplicates worked fine for me too

I don`t think he means that his google contacts are duplicated, i just think that google backed up your initial contacts, my question is: your initial contacts(before the duplicate) are on sim or phone ? because sense has a bug where it shows ALL your contacts (sim/phone/google) even if you tell him not to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907275

All my contacts were on the phone, and came from outlook via HTC Sync.
After syncing, all the duplicates also appeared in outlook.
Happily I have assigned a category to all my contacts, and the newly duplicated ones didn't had any category so it was very easy to delete them from outlook, and sync again. Now they're all gone but also I removed my HTCSense account from my DHD

Strange additional thing to mention.
I live in Holland and my last name is "de Vries" which (as you see) has two words. I normally have the "de" added to the first name and lastname will only by "Vries" in order to get them ordered in a proper way ("de Vries" is supposed to be found under "V")
Nothing strange to that, but the strange thing was that some of the duplicates were missing the "de" part of the name
