Well crap...I think I bricked it :-(

I tried to unroot my phone via OCLF from the market. It went dark, then got the normal Vibrant screen, the the Galaxy S screen, then it went dark again. Now, it just sits. Black screen. All the buttons at the bottom are lit up. :-/
Anyone?

Silly question, I know. But did you have a nandroid backup, by any chance?

This is probably a last resort, but try boot into recovery and wipe everything. This fix the problem for me, the downside is you lose all you data.

If you are anything like me, recovery didn't work and using Odin and reflashing Stock with repartition didn't work either.
You'll need to use odin to flash Eugenes "Vibrant that doesn't brick" (NO REPARTITION), then use odin again to flash Stock (check repartition this time) and you'll be good to go.

You can try to flash the froyo rom with odin...... I had that same exact problem and this is what fixed it for me. Once froyo us flashed then you can flash whatever rom you want. Hth

Ok, I probably should have stated that I'm a complete newby and have no idea what I'm doing. I believe I do have nandroid, but other than that you all are speaking French to me.
Right now I'm in the recover mode (I think). It's hooked up to my computer and I'm in the "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" mode. This is where I'm stuck...I have no idea where to go from here.
Please talk to me like I'm a 5 year old, because as far as this is concerned, I am!

Well, good news is... you didn't brick your phone, this is recoverable. Best idea would be to search the forums on how to ODIN back to Stock. Theres plenty of posts on how to do it. You should also be able to find this in the tips & tricks threads. Good Luck.

Hey - what does you doing? Please told me, I've the same problem:
If I start the phone with an USB cable and the battery symbol with the running point under this, the PC recognize that something is connected, but Windows found no driver....
How could you could flash the Stackfirmware back, if the recovery and download menu does not work ?

Thats also the problem as described in front : I have had no chance to received the DL Mode.. maybe I make something wrong? The phone is booting up till the "S" is there, after that, the screen is black, keys are lightning...
The recovery 3button are blocked from the beginning; the DL Menu - I did not have reached it successfully
The PC recognize, that is something on USB, but not what ... so Odin did not see the Mobile, too.

If I can't get into Download Mode - am I bricked?

Okay a whole combination of events lead to me now not being able to get into download mode (I was able to before). Only a cellphone -- ! -- computer image shows up now. Am I really bricked now? Is there any way around it?

Remove the battery and usb from the phone , put battery back hold vol up/down then plug the usb . It should boot in download mode

I have the same problem. My phone was hardware locked and I was wondering if yours was? I have tried this method several times with no luck. Should I just keep trying it over and over? Has anyone else had a hard time getting into the download mode but finally got it to work? does it matter if the sim or sd card is in or not?

Its not "hardware lock" is just a bug in the os , its been fixed in ji6 , you can try using adb "adb reboot download" on you pc

is the search button broken??? Everyone who thinks they are "hardware locked" do you not search or read? There is a fix for this! Not only does JI6 fix this, there is a thread with just the SBL file that also takes care of it.

I did search and search I even started one count them one thread on this because I had not seen a thread with the same issue... look at ppls postings before you want to flame them I have not been one of those guys that you get ticked off about most of my replies were to say thank you for the hard work ppl put in here. Or to help other ppl out. I have tried a lot to get out of this and I was wondering if anyone ran across a phone that just wouldn,t come out of it. Sorry to rant on this but if it really bothers you that much why do you go into the threads to read them and get yourself all up tight about it?

To be fair, JI6 did not fix this for me, but the standalone fix did work.

Sorry to bother you but adb doesn't see my phone.. I read in a thread about the buttons not working to get into the download mode. Some ppl swore it was a hardware issue well others swore it was a software issue. It was like taste great less filling debate lol. I found one other person with the exact same problem and he tried everything too but **** out of luck. I now own a bricked phone.

all methods in the download/restore mode thread do not work on my phone, i had to have it replaced after a bad flash

JI6 doesn't fix it . The bootloader file are not in JI6 update but were in the leaked JI4 which were ripped and that how the fix was created .

Phone will not turn on after Odin 1.7 flash

Argh! I just tryed to restore back to JM1 from JPO due to official FroYo being near. Flashed plenty of times before so I know what I'm doing. Set up the usual pda, modem csc etc and it started to flash then my phone went from the download mode screen to a greyish colour. I left it for a few minutes and nothing was happening and the flash had failed. Took the cable out pressed the power button and that was it, it will no longer turn on. Has anyone got any ideas, I wouldn't ask for help if I didn't need it.

Edit: My phone from stock has been able to access download mode.

Hope you have your lagfix disabled prior to flash.

Yep, always make sure thats the first thing I do. I'm quite an avid user of xda so I tend to keep up with what to do etc. I really have no idea whats happened. I've tried holding down the download mode combo for a while and nothings happened. When I connect the usb to the computer nothing happens, take it out and put it back in a few time I hear the 'noise' thing from Windows 7. So there must be some kind of life in it :\

I recently did the same thing with my SGS. I bricked it once already trying to flash so was really apprehensive about doing it again but I'm addicted to flashing from my WinMo days with HTC phones.
When I flashed from JPO to JM1 I used all the JM1 files (PDA, Modem and CSC), the 512.pit and selected repartition and all went well. Sounds like something may have glitched when doing yours, maybe a spike in the power or temporary loss of comms between phone and PC?
Have you looked into the homemade JIG thats been detailed in XDA? Might be worth a try if you're completely locked out

You could try this as it happend to me a few time backs
Remove the battery, hold down the buttons for download mode and dont let it go find a way to insert the battery.
Let us know when its done!

Yeah I've seen those JIG's and I think atm that may be the only thing that will save me atm.

Tried that :\ No luck unfortunately! This is what happens when your addicted to ROM flashing. Maybe I need help haha. Going to hold in download mode buttons for as long as I can to see if anything happens, will report back.
EDIT: Right finally getting somewhere. After holding in the download mode combination for 5 minutes I managed to get into download mode. I really have no idea why though? Anyways Odin isn't playing ball. Odin won't get past factoryrfs.rfs. I'll leave it there and see what happens
EDIT 2 : Nothing. Can anyone help me on this?

Got help elsewhere, run kies in comparability mode for windows xp and run as admin. Phones working for the time being

I had the same problem and had started looking for a new phone.. :/ gutted! :/ I took the battery out, pressed download mode buttons, put battery back in and my phone sprang back to life... used ODIN again to flash new rom and phone was up and running again! Thanks for your help!

Originally my phone was from the UK Carphone Warehouse (CPW)
I have upgraded it from 2.2 to 2.3 etc...
The last time I did a firmware upgrade to ICS was a few months back and I didn't have any problem doing it.
After the upgrade, I had a few bugs. I used this file - GT-I9100_XEO_I9100XXLPW_I9100OXALPW_I9100XXLPW.tar and the main bugs I have are - The screen won't lock and when I press the Power Button, it will turn the screen off but when I hold it for 1 second the phone closes down.
So today I thought, lets see if I can change my firmware to a CPW version, so I downloaded GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar and installed that. It went through the usual stuff and upon restarting I was getting an "android.core" crash. The screen stops working and after several reboots nothing change. I also booted up and cleared the cache, and this didn't do anything either.
I have just reverted back to the first ICS upgrade but still has not screen lock or when I press the power button for 1 second it closes down.
I wondered if anyone else has had these problems or could recommend to me what may fix it.

So I think your problem is something wrong with your EFS folder.
1st, you must root your phone, then open market and search for this program "GSII_Repair"(Thanks HELROZ), install it, then open the program after installed>Go to "Repair GSII" tab>Follow those steps (1-2-3)>reboot phone if app need>done
And remember flash ROM without .PIT file and REPARTITION ticked...
Wish u can fix the problem, I had the same problem and Fixed it with this method...

I think you need to have minimum 10 posts before you can post in development sections.

[N8013] HELP!!! Trying to go back to Stock

So I had flashed my n8013 to the Germany n8010 4.1.1 firmware using this:

Then today I tried to restore back to UEALH2 n8013 stock:

Now I've landed myself somewhere in limbo and I don't know if my battery will go soon or not. I have it plugged into the wall so maybe it'll pull a charge i have no clue. I'm stuck on the Android screen with the blue orb and the blue status bar stuck somewhere around 25%. At one point I had it stuck on the pulsing SAMSUNG screen in what it seems like doing nothing. I've tried getting into recovery to do a factory reset and cache clear and when I do that and hit restart it doesn't restart. I've tried flashing the UEALH2 files again and right now the Android is where I am.
Can anyone save my skin please!!!

Here is what you do
Go into recovery do a complete wipe
Download the rom from here http://www.hotfile.com/dl/178484761/092fdea/N8013UEALI3_N8013XARALI3_XAR.zip.html
and Flash it with Odin, should work fine

Well if it's not doing anything leaving it stuck isn't going to help you. Unplug it and shut it off. Restart it in recovery by pressing power and volume up at the same time. Choose "wipe data/factory reset." That should get it back to a running state, probably the German ROM you were trying to replace. Someone posted a theoretic MD5 file of the whole new U.S. JB ROM. I haven't heard from anyone that's succefully installed it yet. I'd wait for the "all clear" before attempting to use it. In the meantime, assuming you're back on the German ROM after a reset, you're better off loading the U.S. ICS ROM via Odin and then use Kies to update to U.S. JB.
Check back in if the reset via recovery doesn't get your Note working again.

Can't reach stock recovery
Vol+ and Power only restarts it. It won't go into recovery. If i hold the power button it just restarts. I just need to get it charging and I don't know how. I don't have the german files on me at the moment.

Can you get in to download mode via "power/volume down?" If you can then just install the U.S ICS ROM to get back to a working device.

The first link was trying to use the US ICS Rom via Odin. My note won't get in a functional state either way

Barry, I used the preroot stock rom and the kernel as suggested in your OP on the other forum page. for some reason it's not working out well for me. I thought I had followed exactly what i should have

As long as you can get in to download mode you'll be fine. Just use Odin to get back to ICS and then Kies to update to JB. We can do a post-mortem to figure out what went wrong after you're off of Defcon 5. Nothing gets the heart rate up like potentially borking a $500 device.

K, downloading right now. I actually spent the $9 to get a month subscription to hotfile to download faster. Not helping much as it's not my best bandwidth but i hope it works!!

Holy s*** it's aaaaa-live!!! It's alive it's alive!!! DEF-CON lowered now. I had another UEALH2 rooted tar on my machine and I cannot remember which forum page I downloaded it from sadly. I had downloaded it back in August on the 24th. It's dated the 22nd of August. The other tar I downloaded was dated the 22nd also but it was different somehow. The name scheme on this one is UEALH2_rooted_system.tar and it worked. Unlike UEALH2_prerooted.tar. That one almost screwed me up! I need to find where this original file came from. Either way I'm back on ICS and plugged into a wall. It's taking me through all the initial setup crap right now so it's hard to tell how low I got it but I started this night flashing with about 56% battery. And when you start with half a battery you start regretting things shortly after when you botch something up big time!
Edit: BTW at no point during the "brick" did my tablet ever lose charge. Infact it even gain charge! I guess these tablets can pull charge in download mode or something. Either way I'm glad it's not almost to zilch!

Spoke too soon. This is the one where the touchscreen stops working. FML... Still downloading the HotFile link of the image Barry sent.

Well heres the worry about the charging I had. Motorola phones are not very forgiving to charge unless youre booted or on the battery charge screen. Thats why I was freaking out. I kies updated from that same botched image and it seemed to resolve my touchscreen issue. Time will tell. Only problem is now I forgot to protect root before the update so superuser doesnt know where to find the binaries. Does the CF Autoroot still work with 4.1.2? If so ill just use that.
Either way, enough problems cleared for one night. Im going to bed. Gotta wake up for work in the morning.

Hopefully nothing. Mine's just the direct link to the Samsung-Updates upload. Where files exist in both places I post Samsung-Updates version because you don't need to register.

BTW thank you guys. It's always good to know that the community is looking out for each other. I think once I'm "100%" stock TriAway and all I ain't flashing to a different stock base again. Lol. Although I do like the stock German folders vs the crappy US ones that are literal folders that are ugly. Guess I need to find a new launcher. And Barry thanks for helping me enjoy 4.1.1 in the meantime!
