Hi Guys,
Just to say, I had my defective Galaxy S replaced recently (had only had it two weeks), however its becoming clear that the new one is much better in a few ways.
Although they look identical (are are setup exactly the same way), they behave differently in a few key ways.
First up, my battery life was pathetic on the first handset, I'd be lucky if it made it to the end of the day. With the new one, I can still have 65% to 70% left after the same useage and setup at the end of the day. Bad battery?
Second, I dont seem to get much lag now. Its still there under heavy use but nowhere near as bad as it was....maybe it was a bad install on the first one? Although I did factory reset it, and it was still the same.
Third, Kies now connects perfectly every time. This drove me nuts on the first handset, kies would sit at connecting while the MTP app rebooted itself over and over on the phone. I worked out through reading, and trial and error that it was the internal sd card that caused it. Or rather specific files on the sd card, format it and it would connect...install my apps and it wouldn't.
The new phone however doesn't care what apps are on it (installed everything that was on the first one), it just connects. I have checked the firmware rev and its the same as phone one. Wierd
Fourth, my recovery mode now works It would never work on the first phone. In the end this was the reason it got swapped.
The phone was acting a bit weird so I took it to a Samsung service point who said they would flatten it and flash new software, however when they tried the bootloader / recovery would not work. They then said that this was a fault and it would need to be sent back to Samsung to fix recovery mode, however the phone was still under DOA with the shop I brought it from so I took it there with a note from the service centre to back me up. Hence I now have a new phone, and recovery mode works.
So two phones owned with in two weeks, from the same shop....different beasts. Quality control anyone?
Just thought I'd share my experiences with you.

One thing people don't seem to get is that when it come to mass production/manufacturing, there are going to be units that get shipped that are defective.
Quality control cannot possibly check every unit 100%, most is done by the way of batch inspection ( a few units from each batch) to check for major/minor flaws.
This goes for all manufactured products. I bought a Sharp LCD TV a few years ago and when I got it home I noticed there were significant ghost images especially in dark scenes. I took it back and they told me that 1 in 5 of any TV is defective. I took home another one, same make and model, have had it for over two years and it is still crystal clear.
Once people realize this they will enjoy their products much more. Put them to the test, in store or at home and keep it if it's good, return it if it's not. If you are happy with a product other than a possible defect it makes no sense to exchange it for something else unless you go through a few and they all have defects then this indicates poor quality all together. If possible, go to a different location to make the exchange, it is possible for one store to get a whole bad batch.
This does not mean that there is no crap out there. No shortage of that for sure. That said, who can name ONE manufacturer, besides Ferrari, that puts out 100% non defective products. ;-)
Hey man, yeah I agree with most of what your saying. It just surprised me a little how the same product can differ, but I guess this goes some way to explaining the different opinions / problems people have on / with the same hardware.
I'm happy now because I think I've got a good one, but someone else may not be so lucky. The thing is I would never have known the difference, if I hadn't had it swapped out.
By the way, didn't Ferrari have to recall the 458 Italia recently for turning into a fireball?

Hate to say this but theres been a recall on a certain Ferrari (458 Italia) due to about 5 sudden engine fires , Seems they are infact too HOT to handle. Heaps of pics of them fire on google

Also it seems that Samsung had enough of noobs flashing beta roms and bricking them so they disabled the recovery modes after the first batch of the device. I myself don't really care as they never advertisted the fact the device has a recovery mode but everyone else seem to think its their RIGHT to have that mode so I'm guessing theres heaps of demands for exchanges which is cloging up the repair centres/supply for legit problems.
Actually, bell Canada re-released the UGJH2 build for the i9000m with the spl fix which enables the the recovery/download mode.

Your previous phone might have had faulty hardware, but its more likely that it had a different (buggy) firmware.
LOL, did not hear about that. Well there you go. If a company that hand builds and rigorously tests every unit that it sells can put out duds then expect nothing from anybody.

Could you clarify what you mean by this? I have a liberated (unlocked) i9000m that I'm using with Fido, is this an update I could install?

I've had the exact same thing today. I saw the new Galaxy S from a friend, and it was way more bluish than my yellow display. Is this soft- or hardware related??
Any differences between the performance of these guys?
I'm very pleased with the 2nd handset I've got, curious now if its hardware or software....
I can appreciate now why some people have issues with what is a great phone.
I've just returned my Galaxy S due to a bad flash (caused by Kies crashing) and an inability to get into recovery mode. I've had a couple of Android phones and flashed software on them so I'm not a noob but nowhere near an expert. I took it to their approved repairer to be told that because they couldn't get recovery mode there was nothing they could do and I'd need to contact Samsung to arrange an exchange as the unit was obviously faulty.
I was annoyed with Samsung's response. First they said they'd organise an exchange (the phone's only 3 weeks old) and when no-one contacted me to organise I called them and they said they couldn't exchange and I'd need to take it to their approved repairers and get a job number. I explained their repairer wouldn't give me a job number as there was nothing they could do. Eventually I managed to speak to someone at Samsung who was organising a send-back bag to me so they could see for themselves there was a problem. Guess what, that was Wednesday and no bag arrived. I took the phone to the first approved repairer and asked them to send back to Samsung and deal with it.
I was told it would take about two weeks but that when it comes back not to expect the problem to be fixed as the work is normally subbed out to another company. The aftersales from Samsung is absolutely shocking to say the least and I've gone from recommending the phone to everyone I know to keeping my mouth shut or trying to push people in another direction.
Guess I was lucky I had a 28 day DOA then, that's not good. Sorry to hear that man, customer service is everything.

As an update, had a call from Samsung today saying they'd reviewed my complaint and felt the service I'd received was shoddy and they'd push my repair/replacement along as quick as they can once they get the handset back (fingers crossed but not expecting miracles)

I got my Hero delivered on 10th December and was very impressed. Fast, smooth, supercool; a really nice phone. I didn't get my number ported until 6th Jan, which is when I found out it didn't ring...:-(
I phoned Orange who ran some diagnostics and confirmed the phone was faulty and promised to send a new one, which I received on Friday morning (8th).
This phone is COMPLETELY different. It has a really annoying rattle around the top end (I investigated this and it appears many of you have the same - lens rattle apparently), but it's also much slower and laggy - it doesn't even play Teeter without graphics lag. When I scroll through pages there is a definite lag while the graphics play catch up with my fingers.
How can this be? They're both the same phones, same network, same build, same programs, etc. I feel another call to Orange coming on...
try updating the operating system, it could have the original rom, not the new faster official one

Sounds like a poorly repaired REFERB to me. Contact Orange again and tell em you want a NEW replacement, not a REFERB.
No it wont stop the lens rattle as thats a hardware fault. Mine does the same. I cant notice it until i bang my phone or shake it really hard though. Might be worth taking the cover off and just jamming a TINY piece of paper in there
Well, I spoke with Orange this evening and they assure me the 2nd phone was new....
I did get a very friendly and helpful chap who was very put out that I'd got 2 dodgy phones and he agreed to send another tomorrow morning.
I'll let you know how I get on.
OK, 3rd Hero was delivered on 12th Jan...with a faulty orientation sensor! It is 6 degrees out in two directions.
4th Hero is being delivered tonight, wish me luck guys...

OK, here's the thing. When I buy a new item I want it to work properly. If it doesn't work properly I take it back and get another. And I will keep doing that until I get one that works. Anybody who is willing to accept a substandard product from any manufacturer is partly responsible for the decline in worldwide build quality. The more people are willing to accept sub-standard goods as the norm, the less manufacturers care about whether the products work or not.
As for service; yes, Orange have now replaced my phone 3 times and every time their customer service has been excellent. Their call centres are domestic (which gets them a LOT of brownie points in my opinion), and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The only real downside is that on 2 of the 3 occasions they tried to replace my handset with a refurb. Personally, I cannot see any reason why, because my handset was delivered faulty, I have to settle for a 2nd hand, pre-owned phone. I pay for brand new, I want brand new. Is that such a big deal?
It was 6 degrees out? Pretty much every accelerometer is slightly off, what was wrong with using calibration?
The calibration tool made no difference. I would run the calibration procedure and the virtual bubbles would settle central as they should. A couple of seconds later they would jump off-centre, always to the same place. I ran a few experiments using diagnostic software, and 2 of the 3 orientation sensors were consistently 6 degrees adrift, and would not calibrate.
I have a colleague at work who has a Hero and this did not happen on his phone. If his was the same I would have accepted it as normal, but it wasn't.

I know I'm a fussy f***er, but I believe these things have to be right. Part of my job is customer relations for an electronics manufacturing firm, so I do understand that faulty new goods are an inevitable thing. But the customer should not be the one who has to suffer for it.
I do my utmost to make sure that my customers get exactly what they pay for, and I'm pleased to see that Orange are exhibiting a similar principle. A far cry from H3G...
I've made a similar post a few weeks back but I thought I'd give this thing yet another try. Well...I'm done with the transformer. I believe this is the biggest piece of junk EVER made. Yes, I said EVER. I am currently on my 6th....read it again, 6th unit!
First 16gb model had a big bulge in the back. Took it back. Second was a 32gb and wifi died completely. Third had massive light bleed and rear panel clicked. 4th, again massive light bleed, so much so that around the edges, blue looked like gray as well as dust under the screen. 5th had a massive white blotch on the LCD to the left of center. Just picked up my 6th unit yesterday, and out of the box, a chip on top of the frame, dead pixel and firmware that doesn't update OTA. Installed update manually, but what if this is bought by someone who isn't well versed in android or computers in general and just wanted something to read books on??
Asus, are you serious with this thing. 6 units and you still can't get it right?? This is my first and I assure you, LAST asus product. Do you guys even have quality control at your factories? This is absolutely unacceptable. It's about a 30 min drive from where I live to where I bought this gigantic piece of crap. Asus, are you going to reimburse me for gasoline in these days where gas is more expensive than ever?
I am utterly disgusted with this product and in fact your company in general. Reminds me of the days when I went through 4 asus motherboards (each time, the fault was confirmed by a tech), and finally opted out for a Gigabyte which has been working flawlessly since day one.
I guess this is what we can expect when crap is built in China where workers cannot wait to finally finish their shift and go home.
Thanks Asus....for nothing. I'm wrapping this worthless piece of crap and exchanging it today for your competitor's product which for sure will NOT come with a damaged bezel. You are formally banned from my household.

Thanks for submitting a complaint to Asus Customer Care...wait that's right this is XDA. My TF is working great and Asus support has been awesome when I needed them. And the two Asus Mobos I've had work just as good as my TF going on 2 years now.

Now I can't trust anything you say. I am forced to assume that you work for Apple, Samsung, or Motorola.
I would guess Apple though, since clearly the TF is the greatest threat to the Ipad that Android tablets have going.
Seriously 6? I would have stopped on the 3rd. I'm already planning on galaxy tab 10.1 if this one breaks the same way the 1st one does.
Sorry to hear you have had such a hard time with your Transformer. My transformer has nothing wrong with it except for very small light bleed, and it is the first one I ordered. I love Asus products personally, I have always found them to be reliable. I have built about 50 computers with their motherboards, cd drives, and video cards and have never had a single one fail on me, my family, or my friends. Guess we are just lucky.

The next time something like this happens to you, just be honest. Go back to the store and tell them, "Look, I've got a terrible case of buyer's remorse. Can I get a refund?" Better still, think carefully before you buy.

What thing are you giving another try honestly? Trying to bash the transformer in the place where everyone loves the transformer!? Seriously take it up with asus as im sure most people in here don't care and don't want to hear about it. If we wanted to hear about this we would look under your first post, we don't need you reminding us that you suck at buying products and cluttering up the forum.
All I can say is the same as many others. I ordered mine from Tigerdirect, and aside from some small amounts of light bleed, I haven't had a single problem with mine. If you don't like a product, fine. I guess the first question is, why would you go back to a brick and mortar store multiple times to get a product replaced? Especially when almost every single issue you pointed out was rather prevalent in the first batch or so of the product? My guess is that you went back a number of times and got first batch products that all ended up having problems.
My suggestion, buy an apple ipad 2. Better to let you join all the other morons over there than stay here and complain. All I can say is that I hope you get an Ipad 2 that has problems as well, so you can just complain to Apple (who won't care at all).
Hm im still on my first one and no problems here other than a stuck pixel which I fixed and a dust trapped on top of the S on Asus top left of ybe screen but not on the screen itself. Sucks you had a bad experience this machine is a beast im even keeping it stock (for now) because everything is running so smooth and im experiencing no lag. Anyways i dont think you needed to make a thread bashing it I hope your next tablet sucks too

yeah , I completely agree with darkhawkff, why would you go back and forth six times to the same store, it could be that just completely wrecked the whole shipment themselve somehow . I got mine from tigerdirect too and the only problem i had was a littlest light bleed. Just stop complaining about your experience with 6 returns because i highly doubt anyone cares about your opinion of the TF and asus while we are on xda on our own TF that may have a little problems but we deal with it.

I have a VS GTab AND the TF 101. Both have "issues". While I see that HC is still needing improvement, I am happy to go with the flow and see and be a part of the developement. I mean, come on, it is a sub $500.00 device. I think you would be better off with an iFad. Thanks for stopping by!

Meh. Find everybody that had a similar experience to yours, and it turns out you can't buy anything. Since we are here, my experience with Nokia reminds yours. Everything cool with cellphones, a mess with smartphones. 7650, power button stopped working. 3650, spent most time getting reflashed in assistance because it killed itself several times and the build quality was really poor.
Asus actually shared a factory with Apple, they made MacBooks, and there is nothing wrong with those.
Plus, as already mentioned, everything is made in China, even Apple (and people around here can fanboy as much as they like, but build quality is great) so that argument is quite weak.
I'm not telling you to get another TF, or to trust Asus again. But every company has somebody as happy as you... just that

Your a glutton for punishment I'd of quit on the second if I went that far. . Where did you find 6 of them at a brick and mortar store? Probably Frys ..if you bought anything there you were on your own anyway.

Let me start by saying that I think the Note 5 is the best device you can possibly buy to date. That's including all of the different mobile OS's that are out there. Beautiful quality hardware and software that works very well (utilizing the wacom digitizer and multi window features).
Now this post is just a warning to all of you who are considering the Note 5. You should take what I am about to say into consideration before you make a purchase. Me and a close friend both purchased Note 5's around the same time. He doesn't know much about phones, but I am constantly tweaking mine. I pretty quickly installed a custom rom and kernel to see if it truly made a difference in performance, subsequently throwing away my warranty forever. I showed my friend the HUGE difference between my phone and his and he agreed that he needed a custom rom and software as well.
For whatever reason these phones are turds out of the box. You wouldn't notice it most likely unless you had something to compare it to, but it's bad. You have all the horsepower in the world in that phone and they can't even get it to function fluidly and keep apps stored in ram for any length of time. Custom everything fixes all of this.
Now to the annoying part. My friend suddenly started having a problem with his volume down button. I, knowing that the warranties were gone, still reached out to Samsung. I hoped that explaining that rooting the phone couldn't possibly have anything to do with the volume button malfunctioning, would get through to them. Instead I was met with a low IQ human being that just kept repeating themselves over and over. I got to a supervisor and they simply read the rules from some handbook to me six thousand times until I couldn't bare it any longer. Not surprising it was a dead end.
So I had to consider other options. I thought about sending the phone to a repair center and just paying to have it fixed. I then remembered the one time I sent out an HTC One X for repair (new screen) and 2 months later the edge of the glass started to come up and they would do nothing to help me. Also in order to repair anything on the Note 5 you have to unseat the insane factory glue just to get into the phone. I'm not sure that the phone would be as sturdy by heating the glue to separate the phone to fix it. Didn't sound like a great option, but at least it was an option.
I then considered Samsung Protection plus. This would allow him to file a claim and get the phone repaired, albeit with an $80 deductible. Also the plan costs $120 just to get started. So that's 200 more dollars on top of a $750 phone. $900 bucks. However it was an option. But what if he had another small issue? Another 80. And again, another 80. It was all just overwhelming and he decided to move on and get another phone. I am following him as well because I'm afraid of this happening to me. I have a T-Mobile Note 5 which I went through ABSOLUTE HELL getting unlocked for AT&T and didn't want to go through that again if I ever needed a replacement.
None of this may ever happen to any of you. You all may go on without ever having a defect of any sort (or never root your phone to begin with) and never even need your warranty. I just wanted to show that this scenario exists and you should take it into consideration when choosing the phone that's best for you.

Ugly!! Note 5 is my first ever Samsung phone. Probably the last too. Gonna stick with Nexus or OnePlus line on a long run like my previous devices.

So heres a solution to save the phone.
Actually 2
ITs stupid but it works.
Get rubbing alcohol on a ear bud and just work it in the volume button.
Let it dry and try the button.
Its gonna work fine for 2 to 3 days then its back to the same.
The permanent solution is harder to come by.
You need extra thin clock oil . It special kind of oil that semi evaporates but fixes this issue.
I can try find whats left of mine and maybe send you a pic or something if the alcohol works for you too.

He meant the qtips, I remember my note 4 had the same issue in home button, an alcohol swab fixed it
That sucks. I've had a couple of rooted phones that Samsung replaced for hardware issues without a problem. I had a couple reps say that it's a voided warranty but I told them they have to prove that my mechanical hardware issue was software related.
I wouldn't go as far as calling it a turn right out of the box. For the vast majority of people, it does and performs just fine. Then you have a small percent of the users who do route and tweak their devices because we want more out of it.
What are you going to compare it to,?

I just saw this post. So can you please tell me the story about how you got them to honor warranty claims while rooted? Maybe if I had called back a few times I could have got it done. I've honestly never had to even use a warranty on a phone in the past, they have all been really great.
so let me understand, u rooted knowing it will void your warranty, then u get pissed that they wont fix it free of charge because the warranty is voided? lol thats kinda funny. don't get me wrong i would try and get it fixed through warranty myself even after i rooted but u can't be pissed about them not fixing it if u knowingly voided it. with that out of my system,
who does your friend use? is it tmobile as well? if it is sprint its an easy fix. if not have u looked into other 3rd party coverage?

My point was. The volume button has nothing to do with me rooting the phone. Get it?
i am fully aware of the volume button having nothing to do with software on your phone. i do not disagree with that one bit. i totally agree one has nothing to do with the other. i was merely pointing out that u knowingly voided the warranty and am now mad u can't use the warranty. i don't think rooting should void any kind of hardware warranty whatsoever but simple fact is it does. sometimes we can get around it sometimes we can't. i don't blame u for trying i would have done the same. i think you maybe should change the title to something like

What a silly post. I have had 8 different Sammy devices without issues and when I did, I got the repaired rooted without issues here in Canada. I've rooted every device and enjoyed all Samsung has had to offer especially when I break my screens and they fixed for free, rooted.

I really understand your frustation BUT: why it is samsung's fault for violating guaranty terms? Two years ago everybody was complaining about PLASTIC. As a end user you could replace almost everything on your phone. Removable battery for long term usage, camera module, mainboard, sim tray, everything. No, WE all asked for metal and glass. Now we have metal and glass and fixed battery and almost impossible repairs. But our phones look nice.
BTW: Sony - locked bootloader, no root. No custom rom without unlocking bootloader officialy trough Sony servers. So zero guaranty
HTC, LG - the same. Try to find software for your region.
There is no ideal device to play with custom roms and not void your warranty!
BTW. 1. You should try to install official rom including bootloader etc and try again at Samsung.
2. You could buy a dummy note 5 -the presentation model and go to a repair shop to excenge your volume rocker. Except for mainboard, everything inside is the same as full functional note. You could sell some parts like camera module, case with full display, S- Pen etc and get your money back, even more.
I'm not going to sit here and argue with you people about the purpose of my post. If you don't get it im sorry. I'm moving on now. Thanks for those that were helpful. Good luck to those that are clearly lacking reading comprehension lol

I feel for you. Though I haven't had any broken phones I rooted from the past, I also think that "obvious" hardware issues should be exempted from voiding the warranty after rooting. But manufacturers don't want us rooting our phones so we can use their own software that they built for us which took them years to develop (although we all know that pure android really performs way better), and also for us to use the bloatware they include (which probably paid Samsung big money to have their software pre-installed in Samsung phones).
So completely voiding the phone's warranty upon root is their way to combat all those, even if Samsung is completely aware that "most" hardware issues are unrelated to rooting (although rooting can also damage hardware components like burning a circuit if the custom software is programmed to run the cpu at high clock, etc). So there's still a small chance, very unlikely, but small chance that a custom ROM can also damage a volume control, circuit-wise, or maybe the custom rom's programming might have a bug on the volume control (again very unlikely, but still a possibility). Unless if the cause of the volume problem is something obvious like the button itself is loose or falling off.
My suggestion is, if you have a nandroid backup of the original ROM before you installed the custom one, you can put it back first (the phone will still be rooted) then visit another Samsung store and just focus on telling the staff about the volume button. If in case they do a test on the volume, at least they would see a factory installed rom running. Just cross your fingers that they wont further check if it's rooted under the hood.

Nothing special. Once was a usb port issue. They asked of it was rooted and I simply said it doesn't matter, it was a hardware issue. I had to escalate and told them the same thing. I said I'm happy to pay if they can prove that a rooted device caused the malfunction. They keep to the script for the most part but I got my phone back, repaired, and no charge.
I threw in a few legal references to automotive warranties and modding and would hate to drag them down that road.

This is an old post but I'm going to put my two cents in and I know in going to get flamed, which is amusing to say. But it's clear. By every phone manufacture, you root the phone. You take the phone as is. It's lost the warranty. Now that if you find that something is wrong with the device hardware wise. You Made the choice to void it when you did the rooting process. The moment Knox became 0x1, yes it's hardware based. But that's besides the point. They tell you over and over again that doing so it voids your warranty and you do it anyway, you made the phone completely yours. And now it's yours 100%. I agree with Samsung on this.

This is not me crying over the problems I had. I’m writing this as a piece of information for the Samsung Galaxy buyers.
Well urrrr yeah! Finally got my replacement(︶︹︺).
Bought the device(Galaxy S7 Unlocked version) just one day after the launch. There it starts the series of repairs which lasted till the half of the month May. Well talking about those quickly. To begin with the build quality issue, had a small scratch at an edge of the home button which developed into an crack soon (as in the Image 1) also some faded horizontal grey lines(noticeable in the white backgrounds) and finally ended up in a repair since it was past the 7-day replacement period. With that repair came a faulty screen(color uniformity issue) as in the Image 2[a] attached**. Then I decided not just go for a repair again because the exact same problem could repeat even after the repair due to human errors or mis-handling. So instead requested for a replacement. Waited a week to get a definite reply from them and they agreed to a repair but not a replacement for sure. Despite the lack of time I had to go through the repairs I agreed to that and yeah the same problem persisted even after the 2nd repair. But during the time of collection of the device they pretended like everything was fine with the device since they didn’t know what exactly the issue was which could be due to the lack of technical knowledge of the technicians.
Called them again and explained in a simple way (as in the Image 2) what the issue actually is instead of letting them self-define the problem as ‘Screen Discoloration’ . Even then with just dialling *#0*# and showing me HW Module Test with Red, Green, Blue screens which can only light up one kind of pixels in the display in which the the color uniformity issue can’t be spotted at all since multiple pixels aren’t being mixed to represent those three colors. They tried their maximum to not give me a replacement by showing me a video/image and asking me to spot the issue in that circumstance and this even continued to them claiming that I was faking the issue with some 3rd party app.
After a clear evidence from my side they were finally forced to offer a replacement instead of a repair again. But it is then they started acting totally irresponsible to me (being one of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen) by not even informing me that they have approved the replacement for me.
After few days I’d to call them back and ask about their decision and there begins the waiting again for the replacement even after more than a month of not using the device due to the repairs.
The service center being part of the authorized retailer of Samsung, I don’t know what made them to take more than a week time for the replacement in a place where these devices are not sold as hot cakes. That even made me to doubt whether they were waiting for a used unit to refurbish.
[Those moments involved lots of ill treatments from their side, lots of phone calls and commutes to service center even for asking whether the replacement was ready due to ambiguous answers from them through the phone calls]
Now going back to the statement “Well urrrr yeah! Finally got my replacement(︶︹︺)”. The issue still persists as it is clear for you from the Image 3 below ** at least not that worse. If it was a phone that was sold for at least 400$(having the production cost at just near 260$) I will be happily using the device despite the current issue. But for a phone that is sold at 700$ this is unacceptable in the age where there are strong competitors available. Which had made me to take a decision to never buy a Samsung product in my life even if they heavily dominate the market by creating a perception that they are the best.
As mentioned by respected forum members that Samsung could have done ultimately anything to make a less used unit new by resetting any counters to make any app like this one ** believe that the unit is brand new even if Samsung had denied that.
I don’t know whether display issues are there for other Galaxy S7 users but at least I had similar issues including the tint problems with my previous Galaxy S phones. Probably a normal user wouldn't be able to notice these type of issues. But it is good for anyone to know what you are paying for and what you are getting even if whatever I’ve dealt with doesn’t bother you. But all these can be avoided by being strict in quality testing from Samsung‘s side. This is where the companies like Apple truly shines.
I’m not sure whether these are typical issues seen in AMOLED displays but had heard a lot of people going for multiple replacements (like even 3-7 times) for silly issues especially related to displays. Well if I try for that at my place, first of all they won’t be ready for a replacement again and even if they are, not sure what other issue I’ll get with the next unit. Can’t imagine going again with these kind of issue like others did multiple times and to get ill-treated and to accept their own invalid assumptions and arguments and wasting lot of time. Also don’t know whether these strict replacement policies exists only at my place or elsewhere.
Would love to know your thoughts and comments. If you were in my position, how you would have reacted and proceeded? How you would have and taken this issue?

I have the exact same problem with my screen. Especially in the evenings it is clearly visible, even on normal tasks like browsing through the launcher or in Spotify. Think I will let them repair it at the end of my warranty period, screw them.

Even then with just dialling *#0*# and showing me HW Module Test with Red, Green, Blue screens which can only light up one kind of pixels in the display in which the the color uniformity issue can’t be spotted at all since multiple pixels aren’t being mixed to represent those three colors. They tried their maximum to not give me a replacement by showing me a video/image and asking me to spot the issue in that circumstance and this even continued to them claiming that I was faking the issue with some 3rd party app.
After a clear evidence from my side they were finally forced to offer a replacement instead of a repair again. But it is then they started acting totally irresponsible to me (being one of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen) by not even informing me that they have approved the replacement for me.
After few days I’d to call them back and ask about their decision and there begins the waiting again for the replacement even after more than a month of not using the device due to the repairs.
The service center being part of the authorized retailer of Samsung, I don’t know what made them to take more than a week time for the replacement in a place where these devices are not sold as hot cakes. That even made me to doubt whether they were waiting for a used unit to refurbish.
[Those moments involved lots of ill treatments from their side, lots of phone calls and commutes to service center even for asking whether the replacement was ready due to ambiguous answers from them through the phone calls]
Now going back to the statement “Well urrrr yeah! Finally got my replacement(︶︹︺)”. The issue still persists as it is clear for you from the Image 3 below ** at least not that worse. If it was a phone that was sold for at least 400$(having the production cost at just near 260$) I will be happily using the device despite the current issue. But for a phone that is sold at 700$ this is unacceptable in the age where there are strong competitors available. Which had made me to take a decision to never buy a Samsung product in my life even if they heavily dominate the market by creating a perception that they are the best.
As mentioned by respected forum members that Samsung could have done ultimately anything to make a less used unit new by resetting any counters to make any app like this one ** believe that the unit is brand new even if Samsung had denied that.
I don’t know whether display issues are there for other Galaxy S7 users but at least I had similar issues including the tint problems with my previous Galaxy S phones. Probably a normal user wouldn't be able to notice these type of issues. But it is good for anyone to know what you are paying for and what you are getting even if whatever I’ve dealt with doesn’t bother you. But all these can be avoided by being strict in quality testing from Samsung‘s side. This is where the companies like Apple truly shines.
I’m not sure whether these are typical issues seen in AMOLED displays but had heard a lot of people going for multiple replacements (like even 3-7 times) for silly issues especially related to displays. Well if I try for that at my place, first of all they won’t be ready for a replacement again and even if they are, not sure what other issue I’ll get with the next unit. Can’t imagine going again with these kind of issue like others did multiple times and to get ill-treated and to accept their own invalid assumptions and arguments and wasting lot of time. Also don’t know whether these strict replacement policies exists only at my place or elsewhere.
Would love to know your thoughts and comments. If you were in my position, how you would have reacted and proceeded? How you would have and taken this issue?

Whatever I'm saying is the fact.
The fact about my S7 is that it's beautiful, fast and has zero quality defects--and I'm very picky. It is seriously the best smartphone hardware I've every experienced.
Just like all products made by humans, there are always a few lemons and I'm sorry that you got one.
Just because you've had flawed units doesn't mean everyone else has. Sure, my first S7 had a battery issue that often prevented it from turning on, but my replacement has been great.
That said, there is no such thing as a perfect phone. Lemons do exist, and flaws can happen anywhere. That is the truth!

I'm going to close 2 of the others as well, don't create duplicate threads.
So I'd like to start off with how much I absolutely LOVE my XZ3+, and that It is by far my favorite device I have ever owned or seen, usually I go threw them like hotcakes.
But unfortunately, 6 months in and my device is experiencing some trouble. On the left hand side the screen is starting to yellow, and sony said they'd replace it for free regardless of warranty status assuming it wasn't due to misuse such as squishing it or being in the heat.
Well, I'm pretty sure I didn't squish it and it's getting worse over time so, no one incident happened, and I never go outside so... honestly though it does kind of look like a finger indentation exactly where I hold the phone., and I don't use the case as I am a firm believer in using my device naked. Like why would you buy an expensive, beautiful new shiny phone and then cover it up, effectively hiding it from the world and all the admirers.
So the warranty repair would take a minimum of fourteen days. That's a long time to go without my phone. Should I send it in for repair/replacement or just buy a new phone.
I wish the Xperia Z line wasn't dead, I'd gladly buy a new one instead but since it is and I don't really like the X line, I might be moving to samsung and have to put up with the stupid bottom button.
Advice, suggestions, anyone else experience a similar issue or having to do with warranty, your input would be greatly appreciated
Ok, maybe stupid question and might NOTHING happen, did you try to repair it through xperia companion? Re-installing the latest firmaware could help if the problem is there (that's a big if and i don't thing this is the problem). This is what i would do before send it to service.

And the only problem is if it is actually my fault, I'd rather just buy a new one on ebay, yanno?
I ordered another nexus 6 (my previous phone, kept breaking due to poor build quality and ergonomics) that i'll use as a tablet/primary while my sony is in service because I'm pretty dependent on having a phone on me 24/7 lol
After that I'll send it in for service and see what the damage is.

yes it may be your fault, but the build quality does follow a standard... so if the phone somehow was faulty in anyway, they will repair it for free, hopefully.
