You can set it up to pay in installments but it depends if you're even eligible to get a phone billed to your account. Some accounts are not eligible at all (depends on credit) and some with a spending limit must be with Sprint for 18 months without outstanding payments to become eligible. While customers with good credit or long standing Sprint customers have no problems at all.
Most areas will NOT allow you to bill this or the EVO to your account because the phone is in such high demand, and people just aren't paying for it and going into collections. Sad but true.
I have had three phones billed to my account but I always paid in full the following month since I'm not due for a upgrade and the phones $500 I would rather pay installments than that big chunk of money thanks for the help

No store can decline billing a phone to an account, so if you were told no, you need to report that store/manager.
Actually, you're incorrect there. The ability to bill to an account is based on the credit code that is assigned to the account at the time of creating it. This credit code is based on previous credit history. If you have a spending limit at all, you won't be eligible for it. If your credit improves and you have good payment history on your account, you may be able to have the finance department see if they can adjust your credit code, though they may have changed that.

You're also wrong. It's based off your credit score when you first open an acct. After 18 month of service and 12 month of no late payments it can be removed. Manual credit (not finance) CAN remove it under very special circumstances if you do not meet the 18/12 rule. Some spending limit accounts DO allow billing to account, though extremely rare and believe it or not there are a ton of non-spending limit accounts that do not allow billing to account. All accounts under 90 days are considered no billable as well.
I was referring to a store declining billing to account because of the phones "high demand" just like the customer who called me a few days ago saying he was declined because the phone is in such high demand that they will only sell to local area codes. Completely false and illegal to be honest.
Actually it occurs to me that you probably meant that a store couldnt deny bill to account just because of the modelof phone. Sorry about that. You're right there

Yeah I get them done all the time, generally the basic rule is, you can have a few late payments, maybe 5 or 6 but no hotlines/suspensions and they will remove the ASL from the account... of course a lot more goes into it, payments vs adjustments, acct tenure, number of lines, etc.
Also, it will be fully charged to your account if your account can be billed. I've yet to see an account that is partially charged for multiple months to make the total price up. The best way to do this to give yourself the most time to pay it off is the day of or the day after your billing cycle starts (mines the 13th, so 13th or 14th for me) so you have a full month, plus the time to process the bill, plus the time until its due, plus the automatic 10 day grace period after the due date that you get without any late payment penalties, which will add up to almost 2 full months.
I did a bta with one of my previous phones and had bta a bunch of accessories too. About a week or two after the bill was past due, the finance dept called and started leaning on me hard. I told them that I was going through some financial tough times with the car being repaired recently and trying to get the cell bill up to date. They didn't care. That pissed me off royally.
I tore into the girl on the phone and told her to look up in her records for how long I've been a sprint customer. I've been with them for over thirteen years and you are treating me like a deadbeat scumbag? They said we need xxx amount paid in like two or three days or it will go to the collections department. I was irate!
I told her I would pay what I can, when I can and it's impossible for me to pay that amount in that short of time. She asked if I could borrow the money from someone. At this point, she was just throwing more gas on the fire with me.
I told her that she could do whatever she wants, that I don't care anymore. If you want to turn this into collections, go right ahead because you WILL lose me as a customer! I told her if she wanted to turn my phone off right then, to go ahead and save the trouble of doing it in a few days.
Does that answer your question about if they will "finance" or let you make payments?
If they let you bill to account, ask yourself if you know for a fact that you can pay your monthly bill plus the cost of the phone in thirty days or less (no sweat), then go for it. If not, save up for it and buy it when you have the money in hand.

Yes... because it was her fault that you're going through financial issues and car issues but you decided to buy a new phone... smart one on your part eh? I'll tell you the same thing I tell everybody, this is a "FOR PROFIT" business, pay your bill you get service, you don't pay your bill, your service get's shut off, it's as simple as that. They did allow you to do a payment arrangement, however you just did not agree with the terms. Next time you're having financial issues, spend $50 on a ****ty phone instead of $200 on a device you can't afford. (Don't take this personally)

I have to say my experience was different, I put a Moment on my account about a year ago and asked if it was ok if I paid half this month and half the next they had no problems as long as my call bill was kept up to date they could put a note on the account. Paid my phone bill in full + half the Moment then next month paid the bill again with the second half and never had an issue. Then again I never went delinquent with the primary contract that might be the difference maybe.

Is that a hard limit? Even if I qualified for 5 lines with no deposit and no spending limit and my account is in good standing?
Not sure about the 18 month thing. I have only been with Sprint since last November, and have been billing to my account since day 91. Pre, hero, and the evo. No problems. I'm also eligible for up to 10 lines, so don't know what kind of credit code I have.

Yes, all accounts within their first 90 days can not have anything billed.
So, just to clarify - if I'm a new customer, switching to Sprint for the Epic, I wouldn't be able to bill it to my account, correct?
Yepthat would be correct

I was not sure where to post this at but alot of you guys are absolutely helpful
so i figured i'd post here and ask for your help. Sorry mods and i hope this
doesn't get moved!!! It is a little long so i apologize for ranting
I've been with Tmobile since November 2010 and i was told I would be able to
switch over to post paid from flexpay in 6 months which i estimated around April.
Good deal. I am on easpay(automatic drafting) and the payments are always on time. Last month, I paid my usual amount for one line. Cool, everything is fine.
A week or two later, i decide to add a line for my brother to get a phone. Being flexpay, i have to of course buy the phone and make a payment in advance for services as well as month in advance since it is in the middle of the bill cycle. Again, no worries everything is cool.
So low and behold the phone gets here and the same day it gets here, both his and mine line are suspended for nonpayment(even though i made a payment for both). I call in and talk with the reps from the Philippines and they tell me they can't find a payment.
So i am basically getting annoyed because i always pay on time and they are telling me i have not paid for either line.
So i used the trick and I called back and instead of using my number, i just typed in my friend's number(She is postpaid) and i got their division of postpaid customer service and explained the situation. They filed a lost payment and while they researched it, they reinstated my account. Eventually that was solved.
Okay, so flash forward to two weeks ago and the same issue occurs except this time I didn't make a payment nor was automatic payment supposed to take the payment out. It is due on March 3rd and it took the payment out
at the end of February.....
So i call in and dispute this and they what..."Can't find the payment" and they have to do another lost payment search and it will take 3-4 business days.
I go on vacation for Spring break and I decide to call in and figure out what is going on. I've given them nearly 2 weeks to fix it.
So now...
1)Can't find the payment(even though my checking acct shows it was taken)
2) They closed the case of the missing payment...Didn't contact me by phone email, text, letter in the mail or anything letting me know the case was closed and letting me know what else i could do or needed to do. They just closed the case and had i not called in, i would have never have known it was closed.
Basically they can not find a payment and even now that i have taken the actual checking out statement in to the store and had them fax it(while i was there) they are still telling me nothing can be found.
It's $101. I am not worried about this money. It is the principal of the situation and the fact that I do not want to be apart of a company
who takes money but can't find the payment.
I didn't mail the money or a money order. It is an electronic payment.
There should be footprints everywhere that shows a payment. And i
don't see how the same exact issue can happen in less than 3 weeks
apart.
any suggestions? what would you guys do?
The fact is, you have proof in the bank statement that T-Mobile collected money from you. Sounds like you're going to have to climb the supervisor ladder until you get someone who has some authority. They can't deny a payment when your bank confirms they took it, so it's just a matter of following it through to the end. As to how you view T-Mobile and whether you wish to stick with them, that's up to you.
Is there anyway to get contact with someone above the call center reps? I've spoken with 2 supervisors(obviously from the Phillipines) and it has just been
an annoying ordeal.
I am only sticking with tmo until the Xperia play or Bionic is released(or some new windows phone catches my eye).
I just need to figure out how to get in contact with someone above the call center reps
They tried to screw me over too when I returned my g2 and got a mt4g. They were charging me for both still because I just did the thing where you add payments to your bill. They were still charging me for the phone I returned and the new one. For about a month of fighting with them, they just kept saying we don't see the payment then they started telling me they returned my money which wasn't true because it wasn't in my account and a credit was never made. So I called the bank and bam 3 days later I got my money. Go to the bank and tell then T-Mobile said they returned you the money and you haven't received it. They will return it for you and take care of the liars at T-Mobile. Been with them for 8 years, I don't know why they were gonna lie and try to screw me out of $138. Bullcorn.

I can almost guarantee the payment was accidentally posted to your friends acct.
@Chad, haha that is doubtful
But anyway, after threatening to leave and take both lines with me to Verizon, she credited my account for the next billing cycle 54 bucks.
Small compensation but at least i got a decent rep who actually did something in my favor.
And I already called my bank and disputed the charge and i should have my 101 dollars back by tuesday the bank rep said.
This works out in my favor. I am still leaving them because i find their flexpay customer service horrible and since my next bill is not due till May 5th now, i am
able to A)save a month of paying a bill B)able to wait and see what comes out for
the other 3 carriers at CTIA
Sounds like Sprint is already taking over, in the CS dept.
There's a big push to get ppl from fp to post paid. Have you asked if you're elegible for conversion?
I've seen payments post to the wrong acct before.
Me too same exact situation here. Was grtting chastened for the g2 and the 4g. Lame.they did fix it though.

I just dont see how a payment can be posted to the wrong account if the account has been set up on Autopay since i signed up back in November 2010
and i dont see how the same exact thing happens within a 2 week period either.
I just worry that since they screwed up the payment and i had a suspension(4 hours) that it doesn't reset the time needed to stay on FP before I transfer to Post Paid
You have to have at least 6 months of good payments to swtich to Post paid
haha and i agree, this does seem like Sprint type of customer service haha

I'm a girl btw, and I was told by the Sprint collections department that you do not have to pay it off in full the next billing cycle, that there is no time limit as long as they see you are paying on it, so we will see.
EDIT TO ADD: I was told that I had no limit on my account, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I know Sprint implements "spending limits" to some customers and some have no limit, so not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Too bad they don't have a 3/4G version available. Would love to add it to my unlimited plan.

That's the most insane thing I've heard in a while. I've never heard of anyone doing this. So you're going to float your bill and pay fees and other penalties until you can afford to pay it off? If you have even a slightly good credit rating you could get a $600 credit card with 0% for a year probably...
i added a couple of mobile phones several years ago to my account--not at the same time but one was one year and then a year later or so..
anyway, i paid the mobile handset off across 2 billing cycles at least (phone was like 600 ish then) and had no fees or extra costs.
the main thing was paying your wireless bill on time.
home girl's case may be solid and unique to her case so i am inclined to believe her based on my past experience.
you must not have any limits or ASL on your account and be in good standing with no past due balance. im sure you may know this...
From what I was told purchasing "equipment" doesn't incur fees, only your service bill does. I will still pay my service bill on time but the equipment I charged will be paid off in payments. After searching online I too am seeing conflicting information regarding this, so now I'm slightly leary. Worst case scenario I will be sending it back if what I was told was false.
Yeah I've been with Sprint for like 7 years since I was in high school. I don't have a spending limit on my account and pay my bill in full every month and never had one late payment. I don't like to bill to my account but to each is own.
I prefer to just pay it in full just be to be on safe side of things. Good luck with your purchase though but just make sure you call to verify the payment plan options because it's harder to get things fixed when they are screwed up.
I'm only saying to call because every time I call Sprint I get conflicting information and nobody seems to know what they are doing. Also if you want to check your Sprint Credit Worthiness log into your Sprint account then delete the address bar and replace it with this:
javascript:function getYesNo(s){if(s=='Y') {return 'Yes';}else{return 'No';}};alert("Your Hidden Stats:\n\nSprint Financial Value: "+loyaltyAccVal+" of 10 (higher is better)\nCredit Class: "+creditClass+"\nAccount Spending Limit: "+getYesNo(aslFlag)+"\nHotlined Account: "+getYesNo(hotlineFlag));
and hit enter. A box will pop up and that will show you. I believe it would be correlated to the results if they will allow you to bill to your account.
Mines shows:
Sprint Financial Value: 7 out of 10
Credit Class: G1
Account Spending Limit: No
Hotlined: No
Well I've gotten conflicting info when calling. When I speak to sales they have no idea and put me on hold to find out and then tell me it has to be paid in full after speaking with the "collections department", when I spoke to someone in billing I was told that it doesn't have to be paid in full and many customers have "made payments" on purchases billed to their account. I would love to pay for it in full but I can't shell out $600 at once so that's why this option appealed to me, if it turns out that's not the case as I stated before I will give them hell and worst case scenario return the equipment.
Yeah just looking out for you. I always call multiple times and ask for a manager because there are a bunch of nifnards working for Sprint.

LOL isn't that the truth! Its going to really piss me off if that's not how it works for my account as I was really looking forward to getting the Xoom and accessories I ordered. I hate calling there because I can never get a straight answer about anything, and the order is already out for delivery so too late to cancel if that's true, I will truly give them hell if I was given false information.
there is no pay plan. they give you about 2 bill cycles which is plenty. if you need more time, make sure you are showing good faith--by paying your wireless bill and also paid a good portion of yourequipment--this gives you good favor with the account rep and they may be more inclined to help.
we all want to pay our balances off at once--however sprint extends this as a courtesy to their good customers. if you know you can afford the device you can maximize your purchasing power in a short time period.
I did call accounting services again to confirm my initial answer towards this. I was told there is no official "payment plan" per say, however they do not "require" you to pay the equipment off the following billing cycle. He did mention as long as you are paying your cell bill and making payments towards the balance there should be no problems, however he recommended that its paid off in a "timely manner". So yep, basically what the poster above me said. We shall see...
Hello first thread here, love the forums it has helped me so much to learn about the phone world so thanks for that.
Hello I was able to set up myself with a Verizon concession line through working at BestBuy. I have the unlimited plan for about 30$ a mo.
I quit BestBuy about 6 months ago and so far I still get the discount, I do not plan trying to lose it anytime soon if I can hold onto it.
Now I've heard from my old coworkers that as long as you don't do a yearly upgrade they wont catch on and change it back seeing you're no longer employed.
Is there anyway around this to where I can upgrade my phone? I'm running a Dx which I love but Iv been dying for something new like the galaxy s II.
Concession lines never come up for upgrade as they are not contract plans. Your my verizon may say you have a pending upgrade but if yoy try to do it it will fail
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
stayin, VZW concession lines are eligible for upgrade every ten months, but you can only pick from the phones they offer you, which is usually three recent models.
Envain, this isn't true. If your rep finds out you are no longer employed, you will have you concession account converted to a consumer account. Also, if VZW provided you with the Droid X, they own that equipment, and could charge you for it once they discover you're not employed. Proceed at your own risk.
Droid x was purchased by me, i believe the rep i worked with just used my MEID or something to attach my phone with this new plan/account/whathaveyou.
Only way i can get service help is calling the Verizon Business number, if i provide them with a new MEID of a phone i buy out wright, if they allow this it should activate the new phone for my use right? I figured I would have to pay the full price for the phone i choose.
i currently work for BBY mobile how did you get the concession account? at store, over phone or through the rep? thanks
I have a similar concession account and to my knowledge as long as you're buying the phones outright, you're good to go. Just call your direct contact and they can activate the phone. With LTE phones is even easier as all you do is buy the new phone and put your existing SIM into that phone.
As far as upgrades, I don't think we can ever use them
There must be different types of accounts, mine never comes up for upgrade, nor do any of the indirect agents I know...

Yeah I don't think we can use it. That's why we pay $25 a month
Your former manager will likely do housekeeping at some point, even if it's not until budget time. That doesn't sound like a "concession line" though since you have to pay something for it. A real "concession line" may have different procedures. I believe you are talking about a "discount employee line". If so, I believe the system either catches up by itself, or the same will apply when your former manager does housekeeping.
your rep and your manager
It all depends on them and how often they check up on everything. At my store it would be cake because our Rep never checks in on anything. The only thing your manager can do is inform your Rep that you don't work there anymore. That is a concession line its just not the free one which is only for managers and you don't get an upgrade but they let you choose from.a list of devices which they will send you for free which you have to keep for ten months and then they are yours. Your only option here is buying a phone flat out or from a person and then doing your device swap online. And to answer the question about how to sign up for the plan you just email your Rep and she/he will email you with the forms to fill out. Be forewarned that if you are porting in you WILL lose service on your current phone. But I've known past employees that have had their concession lines for years without losing them.
Damn just wrote a novel sorry for the block of text but hope it helps.
does anyone know how to get the concession line started? I sent in the Sales Maker form to my Indirect Agent but it's been two months and I still work for the mobile department. can I use the employee verification form and snail mail it to the address instead?

You need to call your Verizon rep and have them forward that form immediately. Stay on him/her to get it done. It shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks AT THE MOST.
So today, I was getting everything straight so we could transfer our number to AT&T. The reason we are switching is bcause Sprint has NO service at my house. I had talked to several reps from Sprint, all of which said that the Early Termination Fee would be waived since we did not have coverage. Well, today I found out that even having been told the ETF would be waived, me and my mother would be required to send our phones into Sprint or we would be charged. WTF?! They are going to charge us if we don't send back phones that WE payed for? One of them over a year ago! I think this is BS. I will fight it as long as I can. What do I need to tell them? I wasn't told this the first times I was told the ETF would be waived.. so I may go on that. Way to go Sprint though, piss u off even as were leaving.

Part of the contract deal is they "absorb" the difference of retail vs. the 2 or 1 year contract phone price. They should technically offer you a proration of that difference for each phone based on the remaining contract time.

Just call & ***** for one week. Hears how I got out of cantract last march (becuz of bs gps on froyo & 2.1) I called & *****ed *****ed some more an other day. Then one day I woke up with a hang over in a bad ass mood. I called them & told them I had nothing to do that day & it was raining out. And proceeded to tell them that if they did NOT resolve my problem on this call I would continue to waste there time & call them all day therefore over hours of them paying customer service to listen to my *****ing insted of them helping other customers which would equal more than my early termination fee. Rofl & it works on there 3rd call. Now I did not leave sprint I only wanted off contract cuz the way I see it sprint had there dam name printed on a phone that said it had gps & it did not work & the only reason I was on contract was because they subsidized the price of the phones. A phone with a defective piece of **** gps until gingerbread and custom rom over a year later.
So you could find some thing you don't like about the phone (a software bug) and focus on that. Maybe the sound on the camera in gb there no mute?
If you know how to ***** then you WILL get your way.

My phone cost over $600 to buy outright when I got it but I only paid $199 and signed a two year contract. So I'm sure someone feels that if I don't complete the contract they ought to get something back. Just sayin...
ETF is one thing to get out of, but part of the contract was that they would give you an expensive phone for cheap if you stay with them. You are leaving so they want their phone back. I say THEIR phone because the you are actually paying for the phone over the time of the contract's length.
Also, why did you wait so long to cancel when you had no coverage at your house? Didnt you check coverage BEFORE signing up with them? After all, it IS a lot of phone and you are getting into a legal contract.
Or... You could work them for a free Airave. Same thing here our house is a deadzone. The thing works great and I npw have full signal at home.
I'm also with sprint on this one. The entire point of the ETF is is to absorb the cost you caused them to incur when giving you the subsidy. Returning the phone seems like the right and reasonable thing to do if you they are going to waive the fee. Our phones are basically minicomputers now and are not cheap to us or the carriers.
OP, were you aware you had no service within the trial period? How about the airave?

Purchased my Epic on Ebay, best purchase I ever made for $200.

Alright sorry I just got back to service. Where we live, there is no high speed internet, so the Airave is out, we actually have one, but no internet. Second, we just moved. We have been wth sprint for 8 1/2 years. Where we moved to doesn't have service. And for the last poster, I bought my Epic off of Craigslist, part of what upsets me about hving to send it in.

If you bought it off of Craigslist they have absolutely no right to it politely tell them to die in a fire. As for the Airave you will probably have to send it back unless you were crazy enough to pay them for it (got mine for free) find a sprint retail store or ups it (ground is 5-7bucks most anywhere in the states).
I didn't see all that much about what other phones you have, but the ones bought from sprint at a reduced cost are subject to the etf.. Now if its been bought from eBay/Craigslist/ect. ect. I can only suggest you tell them to die in a fire, if that don't work give the folks at the executive customer service dept. a call 703-433-4401 (Consumerist)

Yeah ill send the Airave in, they are sending a return kit for it. The other Epic was bought less than 6 months ago with the upgrade so ill probably just send it in. At&t would give us $85 for it which would cover the cost of the Captivate Glide which is what she got, but oh well I guess.

I was gonna say you could always sell it and you might make a buck or two off it after the ETF, but then I remembered that they increased the ETF's not too long ago.
If you were lucky enough to get it before the increase you could pay the ETF and sell it on eBay/Craigslist or here on xda & still come out ahead .

this whole debacle sounds like a mix up and either the op or sprint is very confused. sprint DOES NOT require you to send in the hard ware if they cancel the etf. who even told you this op? they cant even do anything with the phone besides use it for parts or refurb it. 1 or 2 hundred dollars is less than a drop in the bucket when your last earnings report said you were down 5 bil. (im looking at you sprint)
i think they just want you to send back the airave.
