and how about making your phone 3 to 5 times faster!!!

It's much faster for one and more refined than earlier builds. That last past is much more apparent in aosp builds then with sense. And there is WiFi tether. You just have to use the latest apk. And just an FYI, prepare to ne flamed by someone. This type of post belongs in q&a.

so WiFi Tethering is working on your ROM? if so that is great to hear.
I going to go read your thread and try to get some confirmation of this.
You really really can tell the phone is less sluggish. Video-taking is much improved because of this. The speed of which i can snap photos of funny **** my kids are doing is so important to me. They can be doing funny things for half a second and can't stand any lag.
The signal seems improved to me in my area with the new radio flash. so thats good
The phone is just loads better at what it is supposed to do.

You still have to compile it with a .config set up for the eris. The precompiled kernels in the OP won't work.

I'll give it a try if you do! I jumped the gun and tried to flash that one and it stuck on the boot screen. Now I know why...lol.
Compiled Kernel
That would be super cool of you to compile one for us to test! Is this a .29 or .32
.29 kernel.
First things first:
This is meant for froyo, but it might work on other ROMs
I doubt your soft keys will work
There will random issues, based on some differences, but probably 'minor'
GPS is, for a lack of a better word, 'unstable' with BFS on .29(working on this)
This may not even flash correctly, idk.
It could burn your house down
All could go well and we could skip through a field of flowers, otherwise.
That being said, this isn't 'stable', this is just a 'test'.
Code:
I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY KIND OF POO THAT MUTANT ZOMBIE MONKEYS FLING AT YOU BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER FLASHING THIS UPDATE.ZIP. IT WAS YOUR CHOICE.
I also included the anykernel update.zip(thanks zenulator/koush) and this should work with any zimage that you throw in there(I just had to change the base address in makebootimg.sh).
Further on down the road, I'll probably release a few 'stable' kernels here, well, only if people want.
Download: Here
MD5: cc234099b74765cebec4c8766b25ba85
Thanks Decad3nce!
EDIT:
Just flashed no problem.
Confirmed working Softkeys (though they dont light up they DO function)
kernel version reports as 2.6.29.6-BrainfuctEris properly
Status update:
Phone functions okay for about 10 seconds after boot then locks up and becomes totally unresponsive, then needs a battery pull.

Not trying to tell you what or how to do things, but for "testing", maybe it would be better or safer to just stay at 528mhz or so. I've seen Eris' OC'd (reliably ?) up to 806mhz, I think. Mine won't though... I run at 710 or 768 all day long.

Eris is more capable than the hero hardware wise, and just about everyone can oc up to 768 in the heroc forums. Shouldn't be a problem. I think it's just a kernel panic being caused by something silly.
Lets get Wifi Calling working on the HD2!
I have attached the T-mobile Wifi Calling APK and a logcat of me turning on and then off the wifi calling feature using the app. The app itself installs just fine and locates and connects to my wifi network, but it never connects to the wifi calling service.
I don't need a bunch of people telling me how much they need this to work for them, I need Devs that are smarter than I figuring out how to make this work for everyone.
Here is a link to the Nexus One thread where they have this working!

Not a dev either, but seems like you can start by putting the lib files in the kineto-n1-bundle.zip on your build and modifying your build.prop to call those lib files (using the included build.prop in the zip file as an example).
I'll give it a try and post results later.
Edit: well, that didn't work for me. Will keep trying, but hopefully someone who knows what they're doing will get it to work.
Edit2: after reading some more, seems this has to be part of the kernel first. So we would need a dev to look into this. Maybe Mdeejay could help out

At a glance this is based on the CM experimental kernel and ours is a LONG way from that, so not sure how possible it would be to port anyway.

Awesome! cant wait for the (hopefully) good news
The new nightly #11 has brought by transfer speeds from glacial (100kb/s) to slow but usuable (1.2MB/s). Much better
Same here. I was getting around 400-500k before, now I'm hitting 1.2-1.3 consistently.
I have been unable to tether in CM7 natively since the new kernel was implemented back around nightly #27ish (before they were reset back to #1)
I could tether before that and can tether now but only with easytether app or pdanet but I would like for the one already in CM to function properly.
I'll attach a screenshot of the error i keep getting. I have read some other people have the same issue and have not found any info about this being fixed or a workaround.
