Lets get Wifi Calling working on the HD2!
I have attached the T-mobile Wifi Calling APK and a logcat of me turning on and then off the wifi calling feature using the app. The app itself installs just fine and locates and connects to my wifi network, but it never connects to the wifi calling service.
I don't need a bunch of people telling me how much they need this to work for them, I need Devs that are smarter than I figuring out how to make this work for everyone.
Here is a link to the Nexus One thread where they have this working!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807116
I am running the latest CM6.1 Nightllies from Michyprima
im not a dev or anything but ive heard people say they got it working with the glacier build from meedjay but it could be a romur try out the build and see if it works.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812863&highlight=wifi+calling
Edit: ill try the build out and check and see if it works when i get home
Not a dev either, but seems like you can start by putting the lib files in the kineto-n1-bundle.zip on your build and modifying your build.prop to call those lib files (using the included build.prop in the zip file as an example).
I'll give it a try and post results later.
Edit: well, that didn't work for me. Will keep trying, but hopefully someone who knows what they're doing will get it to work.
Edit2: after reading some more, seems this has to be part of the kernel first. So we would need a dev to look into this. Maybe Mdeejay could help out

Yep...its all about the kernel at this point. I was able to get it partially working but I broke too many other things in the process. hastarin or mdeejay might be able to shed a little more light on this since they seem to be the kernel kings right now.

Im game.... Gimme lol

then we can perform the same tweak that was used on skype to make calls over 3g FOR FREE lol

Ill bump it up.. Ive heard that your old builds of bluetopia had the wifi calling working. What happened, is this true?
Yeah, i was thinking that its the kernel, because they did have to edit the kernel for the Nexus in order to have the app working.
Would be nice if either Hastarin or MDJ help us out here.. Would be highly appreciated

I PM'd MichyPrima regarding this, haven't heard back yet. I'll send a PM to the other kernel devs and see if I can get them involved.
Any news from Hastarin or MDJ ?
Warning to everyone installing this app!
After having it installed on my phone for around 3 or 4 days my battery was dying very very fast. I had no clue why. Today I pulled up my battery usage info and it told me that this application was using 35% of the battery. Now that I've uninstalled it my CPU seems the be running at a normal speed and not killing my battery anymore.

Guys I'd love to help but there is only one of me, and only so many hours in the day.
At a glance this is based on the CM experimental kernel and ours is a LONG way from that, so not sure how possible it would be to port anyway.

Yes, thats the problem with it right now - it does not work, and when its installed on the device - its using 100% processor and it kills the battery in no time.

I appreciate that fact that you even took time to look at the code. Appreciate everything you have done for HD2 android.
Can't the hd2 use n1 kernels? I don't have one to play with until next week but when I can I will help figure this out for you guys.

Nice work!
Just a question, not that it matters much. The default clock on the home screen is a certain size (small), but if you add a new one via widgets menu, it's a huge clock. Is it suppose to be like that, or is this just a minot detail to be worked out later?
It seems I am an idiot. I can't figure out what Extended Drawer is actually doing.. :\

I'm always up for testing new versions, though it might be less stressful to hold off and release a fixed version (as much as I hate waiting).
If you do decide to release a version that doesn't have everything working, you might want to note that in the file name.
Example: mssmison_rogers_system_(MARKET_NOT_WORKING).img
That way there is no excuse for ridiculous whining and complaining.
I'm quite happy you came back mssmison. I'm also glad that you noted you were taking off some tonight so I didn't sit up all night anxiously awaiting the new great release.
Would it be a simple deal of switching the system files to download an app from market and then switch back, or is it more than just the system file and would you have to delete widgets to go back and forth? If I just had to change out system files to get a market app no problem, or find the .apk to download and install it.
Does that mean flash and the differen't profiles to choose for your screens and perspectives? Maybe a list of what it does have working would be easier, or just figure it out ourselves when it's released. I'm quite excited
Thanks for all your work
First I'd like to thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I haved used many build's before yours and all are good to their own part. I am having trouble with Android the last couple of days, I cannot receive calls but am able to call out. Any Idea what may be the problem. I was using vilords build and had this same problem, tried yours to see if it could be fixed. Thank you again and good luck with your future builds, I will be looking forward to testing them.
hey just wanted to give a heads up not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but the calendar will not load for me everytime i try to load it the app crashes.

I'm still on RC1. I got HORRIBLE battery life with the 731 and 801 nightlies, so I just went back.

haha I got good response here. okay I know fletch covered the cyan power up but here let me link and respond to everyone else in one big post.
first off: no i dont get greatt battery life unless I use JuiceDefender, then I get bogus hours, it lasts forever, umm to be honest, my numbers are pathetic because Im literally on my phone allllll day long, at work, when I get more than 8-10 hours from it I'm happy because im heavily using the browser and sending hundreds of texts too. okay. on...

am i missing something?! i tried to install and it just said it couldnt. ((
whered you find this i wanna read more.
I'm no longer working on this. I've tried, failed, and moved on. It seems that some other folks have had some success. Maybe they will continue on. Between work, family, college, etc. it's obvious that I'm getting nothing done on this.
This is an attempt at taking the work being done for the heroc here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911828 and porting it to the Eris.
Honestly, I know enough to be dangerous and that's about it. The HeroC (sobe and those thanked in the post linked to above) folks and those upstream from there are doing most of the work. So, thank you to them.
If anyone would like to help, please do. That's the main reason that I'm posting this now. The kernel doesn't even compile at this point, much less boot. (It's hard to boot something that doesn't exist. )
Source: https://github.com/gnarlyc/cm-kernel
So far, here's what I've done.
1) forked sobe's repo
2) copied the heroc board files, renamed the copies to *desirec*, and changed all instances of HEROC to DESIREC and heroc to desirec inside the files
3) started removing heroc touchscreen stuff and adding desirec touchscreen stuff
Why am I doing this?
1) learn more about kernels
2) use some that programming knowledge that I'm supposedly learning in class
3) get an updated kernel for the Eris
very nice, i do wish you luck.
Very good. Glad to see you working on this.

Any work still going on n with this?
This is what we would need to port over the new Hero Sensable Gingerbread right? Man if we could get this working, I would be about the happiest guy in the world
My final exam is on Wednesday of next week. So, I can promise that I will put much more effort into after that. I can't promise to get it working, but I'll definitely put a lot more time in. As I said before, if anyone wants to jump in and help, feel free. There's already one other person (breber) helping, but I think he's been in the same boat as me. So... Hopefully, he'll be able to help more after classes are over too.
Kernel updates are pretty much the only updates I ever care about.
Just an update. This hasn't been worked on as much as I hoped. However, I've had help from breber. Actually, he's made much more progress than I did. The kernel not only compiles, but it boots too! As soon as we can get the touchscreen working, it might even be usable.
Here's the current source.
https://github.com/breber/cm-kernel
If anyone else wants to take a stab at it, feel free. Our time is somewhat limited.
I've played around with adding the capella 3602 stuff back in, but it didn't seem to help with the touchscreen issue. The TS is one of the few components that are different between the HeroC and Eris.

So your moving on from this?
Now I have flashed every rom that can be flashed since flashing for the epic has started and I must say I feel like an idiot never having flashed MIUI ROM... So sunday I flashed it and I must say there is so many fantastic things about it. the breakdown in battery use through the use of its own built in settings!
from launcher customization and speed again through its own settings... there is a lot more id like to discuss I think you should try it for yourself!
check out the youtube vids for yourself if you don't believe me! it has soo much potential in its current ALPHA state for our epics........
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952615
I think we should all try MIUI I think development is slowing down in general and not just in MIUI... for all epic roms I miss the constant checking everyday and not being dissapointed cause no update was posted on my current rom or others for that matter
I think the MIUI thread is dieing and well I am a new user to MIUI and I wish another dev could help out it is a fantastic ROM and even with the call bug from the CM6-7 bug where speaker needs to be toggled and the incoming call need to wait like 3 rings before you can pick it up I am sure with a little work these bugs can be fixed. I also wish colorize widget worked with MIUI I guess what I am asking for is for those of you who haven't tried MIUI try it and show your support by reporting bugs on the page for the DEV's
I never gave MIUI the light of day till sunday and by the way I am happy I did battery also is great with MIUI and TWS BUG IS NOT THERE! 2 days standby time in my house and 5% TWS

+1! I had tried every other rom except MIUI, untill yesterday. I do have to say though it sure is amazing! I'm not too in love with the launcher & no app drawer, so I'm using lpp, but other then that and a couple bugs, the rom is great! The look and feel is awesome.
I think the reason people aren't trying it as much, is because the thread isn't being updated with a changelog and what not, normal users may look at the title and see last time it was updated was on the 24th of feb (I believe). I know that's a reason I didn't even look in the thread until yesterday, turns out there is someone else workin on it and posting updates on it. You guys should go check it out.

Yea it was up 20 minutes ago..but i havnt been able to get back in :/ well they are currently testing a rom out. Should i post in miui xda thread??
I've only used Syndicate (with the exception of a one day stint with Bonsai) since migrating from Nebula. I might have to give this a try as I've seen this name thrown around in the past with much enthusiasm

Thanks for trying! The things that dont work are:
Bluetooth
MMS
screen take 3 rings to turn on when receiving a call.
4g
See anything you dont like let us know...Btw i dont know why MIUI-DEV is down but our thread has been down almost an hour...
miui on superAMoLED screen! can't wait for a stable version! I use 4g often these days ever since sprint decided to put a tower in detroit. but when i'm done with school i'll be back home with no 4g, so i'll give it a run then. I hope MMS and bluetooth can be fixed. i'm more sicked for this rom than GB.

I really love the rom! So smooth. That screen delay is the only thing keeping me from every day use.

Someone tesed earlier for me a new kernel..its actually the original kernel (old genocide with MIUI tweaks) and screen lag was gone. But 3g suffered a little i think and he said rom was smoother..so il be playing with that after work.

That's great! I think its amazing how far you guys have come in such a short time. Its nice having more than 1 dev working on this. Although he did a great job, with what time he had. Ahmgsk.. I think that's his name is a great dev!

I never really understood what MIUI is exactly. Is it some sort of inbetween of a standard rom and CM7?

I was wondering what it was also and came across this site
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-miui-rom-for-android-miui-port-complete-guide/
Nixo31, I am confused here. I know ahmgsk has been working on MIUI, and you are also. Are you guys working on it together? If not I think you guys should, also maybe ask him if you could take OP of MIUI thread in development until he becomes less busy, Like I stated before, reason people is not giving this a try as much is because the thread is not updated. I think once people seen it was being updated and worked on they would try it more!
Just a thought..

Well the Nexus S 4G comes out in about a week and a half, so that should help too.
Heya,
I can't post to dev team thread, but still want problem to be known:
I'm very pleased so far with 'cm_buzz_full-210.zip'. Just noticed one regression: if connected with Ford Radio via Bluetooth, that build provides only a 'last call back' feature, whereas CM 7.0.3 provided 'address book list', 'missed call list', 'emitted call list', 'call log list'
best regards and big thumbs up for this forum
m
Do you mind testing again with nightly 199? There was some bluetooth changes after that, so it would provide some indication if that's what causing it.
Hi, the last few CM7 Nightlys (205, 209 and now 210) have Car Home popping up every time I plug in the charger. I tried d/l "Disable Car Home" from the Market but it's nor really working - any tips on how to disable Car Home?
Thanks!
** update **
don't know how but problem seems to have disappeared.
maybe it was the power off+battery pull...
bluetooth does not work, GPS and WIFI works no problem
Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 if there's any way to debug why BT dont turn on
im on CM #209..seem all working fine with bluetooth WIFI and GPS ...
radio i have is 3.35.20.10

Will do. Do you know of any other problem I could face, going back from 210 to 199?
Many thanks

It seems, that the "oldest" nightly is 'cm_buzz_full-203.zip' (according to http://mirrorbrain.cyanogenmod.com/cm/nightly/buzz/). Any idea, where else I could get 199?

#210, down to #173 is listed on the download page:

There's nothing wrong with the market you Muppet, how can it work perfectly for some and not for others?........... hmmmm let me think is it your crappy internet connection or the fact your phone is setup wrong?
Also in one thread you say cm is the best and in another its s;*+#.
Come back and comment when you figure out what you're talking about.

Flashed GApps? Anyway, if it is so '****', switch ROMs. I don't think theres anyone here who will stop you from doing anything you like to your phone.

There is nothing to fix except your stupidity, flash Google apps if you want the market then learn what you're doing to your phone before you actually do it.
Oh yeah, I've switched back to my 199 backup while I wait for my new SD card to be delivered and everything seems fine to me.

if u dont like the rom why flash it? omg..sometimes there is better to talk with a Brainless cow then Coxk like them tbh..
calls go straight to speaker
My Bluetooth, Market, etc. work fine with #210,
but I have a new problem - whenever a call comes through and I answer, it goes straight to speaker...
I've seen elsewhere that the GoSMS app might be the cause but I've never had it installed, and people say battery pulls, restarts and /or factory resets didn'r help.
any ideas?
Thanks!
