dual touch - test - do it yourself - XPERIA X10 General

Apart from all the speculation, i would just like to point out that i did a test with my X10 and in fact, the phone registered two fingers at same time.
Try to write a message, click on the shift key (keep it pushing) and then click any letter. You'll see that the phone registered the two touches.
Let's hope SE enables at least the dual touch.

i can confirm on better keyboard if i hold my finger on shift, it does recognize that im touching the screen elsewhere again! dunno if thats dual touch or not as i dont know much about the whole "dual touch" "multitouch" ordeal. worth a devs opinion i think. i would think though that if it wasnt at least dual touch it wouldnt do anything when i touch the screen with my second finger no?

X10 is confused when 2 fingers are touching the screen at the same time!
But that's not MT
Maybe our hardware supports MT but not our software...
Remember... i said maybe

Yeah, I was just excited to see a good experience. Google didn't comment on the issues with the Nexus screen.

Can you find a video explaining what you're talking about. I've done what you asked and haven't had an issue. Just let me know.

Is x10 is supporting multi-touch

I was wondering if SE will release multitouch support with the new planned upgrade 2.1 ?

there will be no multitouche on the x10 but there is a chance for dual touche for zoming ands so. you realy dont use more then 2 fingers. i NEVER has seeing once annybody using 3 fingers on a multitouch phone or more ;-)

nope... but there is hope. they clearly say no multitouch but they sound unclear about dual touch. but im afraid that the hole thing is a patent problem. and thy dont will do anny hing with that. remember appel has patentet dual/multitouch idea. and they say how can use it for the right amount of mony

My understanding is the patent is on MultiTouch not DualTouch.
The HTC Desire has DualTouch and NOT MultiTouch for this exact reason, nowhere have HTC stated that their handset has multitouch, they ONLY and explicitly said "Pinch to Zoom" and automatically everyone assumed multitouch!
This is the same reason why SE have not included MultiTouch (Apple will even sue their pet GOLDFISH too!!), instead of paying to use multitouch they opted to save the money and leave the feature out.
However, im going on a limb here and going to be optimistic on this situation and "hope" they have at the very least included a Dual Touch display!
i remember that i readed a post here in xda before mentioned that multitouch for x10 is possible to be achive by kernel code or something.
anyway i dont think se will keep their mouth shut about ther will give x10 dualtouch if they really working on this. this is hurting they sales.
i think the x10 has at least a dual touch screen. they said that they maybe give a sw update to fix this and long after this phone h s been on the m rket they say there is hw problem. cant belive they found out after the phone was in masse produktion that they notice it dosen... no way! i think its to expensive for the license. but maybe we find out about tyat if the root will be archived ;-)

x10 screen senstivity is allot better than desire and nexusone ,this means it uses a more advanced digitizer ,i think low end digitizers that supports single touc doesnot give this quality ,may be afterall it is patent issues ,remember even nexus one after getting the pinch to zoom update ,apple sued them ,may be sony don't want to get troubles as x10 is also sold in usa
i have no idea how you guys define good sensitive but for me i always misclick something when i m scrolling and i assume this is bad sensitive

Keyboard, shift and anykey and you will be see an ignorance in every mirror .

No, it doesn't work. What you're doing when you place two fingers on the screen is confusing the hell out of it. It starts pressing random buttons because it doesn't know which input to use.

Can't do 3D in Google Map 5.0 without MT!

Now, this makes me really hate X10 for not having MT until now.
At least its coming! So we just have to wait a few months, youv lasted without it this long a few more wont hurt.
I just hope that the damn bootloader is cracked. I will never get a phone that is "locked" again.

This surprises you why?
Did you bother reading anything at all? Did you just gloss over the fact that very few locations have 3D at all? Or are you just here to ***** about something you know nothing about because it's cool?

I have posted a request to brut.all to include 'tilt' and 'rotate' button in Brut Google Maps:

He seems receptive to the idea, but feel free to add your support of the idea if you wish.
Oh! I had it figured out.
Press current location button at the upper right corner, and when you're at current location, the same button becomes a compass, which you can toggle between 2D and 3D mode.

It's getting the same multitouch as the fapped over Nexus One, which works well enough.

[DISCUSS] The Two Touch Analog Joysticks are not actually "Two" at all.

The two touch Analog Joystick on the Xperia Play had me fooled for a long time.
Their aren't two of them at all.
The "Analog Joysticks" is actually one large touchpad (even in the middle) with a 2 point multi touch operation.
I figured this out with the Xperia Play Analog Tester you can download from Sonys website.
How many other people were fooled like i was?
Just thought id mention that. It was a funny little discovery.

Yea i replied in that thread.
Everyone is still referring to the touchpad as "touchpads", i dont think many (if any) realise that there aren't "two touchpads".
It is one big touchpad. Even the section in the middle of the "two joysticks" is the same part of it.
It is simply one touchpad capable of recognising two simultaneous touchpoints
Actually if you read through the first post in the link there, the OP points out that fact.
Not Trying to be a nitpicker or anything
So at least one Person Realized it . heh

The link doesnt work for me. I guess thats why i missed it.
So essentially if they just gave us a smaller screen on the pad we could've had a Sony Ericsson DS!!
They're working on tgat, remember the dual screen PS certified tablryet Sony announced...
actually I am kind of happy I mean I like how it even works between the 2 circles imagine if that was a huge mouse touchpad.
