hope for multitouch on xperia - XPERIA X10 General

look at this link http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/09/06/samsung-i5700-galaxy-spica-hacked-for-multitouch-support/ also samsung has announced that it is only single touch , developers have enabled multitouch

First of all, what it has to do with X10? Second of all, You've got almost 2000 posts here and you still haven't learnt?

It could mean that even though SE says the X10 has no MT it actually may support it like this Samsung. I know SE is always truthful but there's always a chance.

I thought his purpose of posting it here was blatantly obvious...apparently some all can't figure it out.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

maybe maybenot maybe maybenot ..... This isn't getting us somewhere.
So i personally have no clue if it has MT or not, but I CAN imagine that SE had used MT capable Hardware.(But this is just guessing).
And till the day we fully get our own rom runned on X10 we are not able to know!
So the only thing we should concentrate is getting custom roms running. After that is done we can discuss MT again

[ASK] the future of X2 on XDA Dev

okay, so i read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502205
and it clearly says that that XDA dev will not support other non-HTC devices. As it stands now, X2 will NOT be MADE by HTC. So therefore X2 will not be supported by this forum. Am i correct?
i've got to say i learned a lot about windows mobile through this forum. Its amazing how all this programmer from around the world gather around and share their work to the world (freely, mind you ), and most important of all, they share the learning process of it as well. Which i thought is quite amazing really...
Back to the topic, we dont know yet what kind of OS X2 will use, it could be android, symbian, or WM. Although from some of the post that i read here, i think it will be WM anyway (6.5).
Now, i must say that XDA Dev has made X1 an even more attractive mobile phone through all the customization that we can put into it. Big props to all the cheff (itje, jackleung, just to name a few...) who put so much effort into it and made X1 such a powerful beast it is now, and also all other people who has contributed through their knowledge and skills
Sadly, if X2 does have to part its way from XDA Dev, i dont think it'll receive such a support that we have enjoyed on our X1 now...i mean, so far i don't think i've seen such a developer community as big as XDA Dev. To sum it all up, maybe i can say that XDA Dev is one of the reason why X1 is as big as it is today. I doubt anybody would buy this device if this developer site hadn't exist (bit over exaggerating on this one, but you know what i mean )
So, what do you think about it? Will X2 be such a huge hit without XDA dev?
p.s: Sorry for my really really bad english
I don't see your point. X1 is a HTC-phone and if the X2 will become also a HTC-device, I don't think that the XDA-Devs won't care about it.
There as been some thread about our expectations for the X2, but it's mainly reading in tea leaves
Wow now that you mention it, I dont even think I'm gonna upgrade to the X2 without XDA! Damn everything is here. If it wasn't for xda and W.I.N.D.L.E's X1 Proboards sites, there would have been no joy in having the Xperia!!

Yes, ofcourse X1 is a HTC devices, but it has been confirmed that Sony Ericsson ended their relationship with HTC for the X2 and Sony Ericsson is going to manufacture their own phone. Therefore, i don't think X2 is a HTC device anymore....
it would still have a place in the general forum's judging how much there is in there about hp, samsung and thoshiba windows mobile devices
dont really think u need to worry about the x2 till we see it. it may not even be a wm device (although i think it will).

that's nice....
But looking at how big the X1 forum's got, i dont know if all that can be put into general forums when X2 is out.
Well, i guess we'll just have to wait for the time being...cmon sony, give us a preview
Sony is seeking for a new partnership for their upcoiming heir to the X series phone
ASUS has been mentioned along with other makers
HTC really screwed it up with build quality and (cracks in case, paint peel off, etc) and SONY broke the partnership due to that quality issues
Yes I have been figuring out this question too (how would my Xperia be without XDA-DEVS), but SONY is bigger than xda-devs, HTC or all of us, they will simply go on with a new and great product
If you want a REAL measurement of SONY's influence-impact over HTC, please visit this thread:

I find that kind of ridiculous because imo SE is THE master of bad materials and cracks in cases and screens ITSELF.

or the w580i where (almost) all the keypad cracked in half after about a month or so of normal usage...
i heard that plenty of c905 (or c902?) were also being sent back because of defective speaker...
fingers crossed that X2 will have none of this problem...

my w960i never had one problem. but i know what u mean. i have a friend that had a s500i and the keys cracked twice and another friend that had the new c905 and the call speaker broke after 2 weeks. and one more friend that has a w900i and it keeps freezing (not hardware but still a problem in se software)
Hmm... Before this becomes a 'let's bash SE' thread, I've had a W800, 810, 880, 900, 902, 910, 960, Xperia and C905 and the C905 is the only one i have unkind feelings towards... The W800 is still the Walkman phone i use.
SE lacks support but their handsets are quality and tho the X2 may end up not being as customisable/verstile as the X1 i'm still hopeful it will be a great piece of kit.

so,will the X2 become a huge hit or not? since it won't have xda (officially) supporting it anymore...
come to think of it,i just realised how all those people with some other nice WM device, like omnia, can live without all the customization that we have for our X1?
surely there are some other way for customization, but it wont be as deep as our X1 got right now....

TC,
I honestly see this as an utterly pointless thread. HTC will not manufacture the next Xperia, so it won't have its own section in the forums.
You're literally asking people to crystal ball the outcome for you. You want enough people here to say that it'll be a huge success in hopes that XDA will make an exception that the Xperia 2 will get its own section (or something along the lines of trying to push for an X2 forum section)? Because that's honestly the underlying message I see you trying to put out on the table.
You keep trailing on and on about "it won't have xda support" and all that jabber which brings me back to my point that all you're trying to pull in this thread is to get XDA to make an exception that a non-HTC device can have its own section.
Good day.

well, if you read my first post carefully, i did say that i read about what the mod said about non htc device. With that in mind,do you think i would go all the way trying to push an X2 board onto xda? that would just be a waste of my time...
i am here just curious about how people will react to X2 without XDA....
thats it,nothing more,nothing less..
if you guys really think that i may have other intentions in mind, then i apologise and Moderators may close and delete this thread.
Who will get an X2 if not supported here?
i got my X1 cuz this forum/wiki... site is here, if not i would never think of it!
simply if X2 is not supported by XDA-Developers, i will get a HTC device.
yes it's that simple
I just got back a new X1 cause of a crack and I triend it with the stock rom for a while again, but I couldn't make it longer than an houre before I ran back to xda-dev and flash hard spl and Itjes rom. So i Guess I wont buy a X2 if there is no support on here, I wouldn't even have bought the X1 if there were no roms to flash.
The next SE phone will be wm6.5 and not made by HTC. The naming of the device has yet to be decided on. So in theory, the X2 could still potentially be made by HTC if all the right moons align.

X10 Multitouch and Android Update to 2.1

Hi Folks,
i had a Sony Ericsson representative in our Store, and what he could say was that the Android Update ( in Germany ? ) comes on Q3 this year.
What he also said was that the Multitouch issue is not a hardware problem, it is more a patent problem and sony is waiting till things are cleared out.
So the display IS Multitouch capable, Andoid 2.1 could activate it, but sony could still lock the multitouch feature ( in their own ROM's of course ) if their staff thinks it is better than getting sued.
Kind regards
notimpyet
If it is true that the display supports MT, we will know it when it is possible to root out the X10, because we will be able to install him roms cooked with the activated multitouch.
You'll forgive us if we take this with a large helping of natrium chloride.
They have successfully rooted the x10, but i haven't seen any MT addon. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Sure, I will point you in the right direction: go to your favorite phone store, and buy an HTC Desire. Now you will have multitouch.
Informative Post !
Bravo.
Currently we have only "cracked" the ROM and not the Bootloader. Therefore we still cannot proof MT-Capabilities.

BRAVO ! I dont want to be rude but it is really interesting how people can be amazingly stupid and ask that multitouch question every day and when they see that SE has said that there will be NO MULTITOUCH EVER ON X10 !!!!!!!!!!!!! they still ask day after...
What i would like to see is an implementation of the really nice one-finger-zoom! They obviously developed it, now gief us ze goodies!

So some SE representative knows better than SE product manager Rikard Skogberg, who in a thread in their product blog said: "There's no multitouch in X10 – and I also can confirm that it's not only related to [software] but also to [hardware]".
Cant we just stop with these threads about something thats just not there... It would have been gr8, but its not there, and will never be. So stop these posts about it.....
They even said that for the Mini but the Mini is hardware capable as was seen.
Ok i give up Go and get all excited, but dont blame SE, if it turns out it doesnt support it...

Straight from the horses mouth, it does not support multitouch. It's supports dualtouch which technically isn't multitouch.
Well, the HTC desire uses the same display sensor.
Hi Folks,
i had a Sony Ericsson representative in our Country, and what he could say was that the Android Update ( on Earth? ) comes on Q3 this year.
What he also said was that the phone can friggin' print money. It can produce and island and transform into an airplane and fly you there. And it can grant you 3 wishes which 1 of them can get you multitouch.
So the display IS Multitouch capable, but you'll have to wait for the wishing app to be activated.
Kind regards

And that device doesn't fit the technical definition of multitouch either. The point is that SE is completely correct, from a technical standpoint, in stating that the X10 mini doesn't support multitouch.
Both the X10 and Desire support dualtouch which you can colloquially call multitouch but it's not multitouch according to the technical definition. So both SE and HTC are correct regarding their statement of multitouch suppport in their devices. HTC is correct from a layman's perspective whereas SE is correct from a technical point of view.
So people can bleet on all they want, SE is completely correct in stating that the X10 Mini does not support multitouch and no amount of angry mails and forumposts is going to change that.
I heard root activated the "Bad Touch", confirm/deny?
I've been single for a few months now, and I get lonely every now and then....

[Discussion]Possiblity of MultiTouch in X10-Unofficially !

I know many threads have been closed since SE has confirmed that there will be no multi touch .. but many say that is to evade the multi touch patent case... which is being filled against apple and other phone manufacturers
since we know that SE PR were making statements few months back that MT will be available through upcomming frimware .
so my question is
Can X10 really capable of MT hardware wise ?
Is there any possiblity that we might able to bring MT enabled through custom roms and drivers ?
Is there hard evidence that X10 is not capable of MT ?
If so what do we need to enable it ?
To Mods : please dont close this thread , as many are spamming other threads reagarding this issue, so let this one thread be there to discuss the possiblity
SE staffs confirmed many time that the X10 Hardware does not support MT, so there is no way x10 can have MT (official/ unofficial).
what about Dualtouch??
What about NEVER ?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
i read somewhere that someone ripped off the whole x10 and got a screen shot of the lcd.. can we confirm that the lcd hardware doesnt support mt ...
there are rumours that se wanted to evade the lawsuit for mt
To all the people saying there is no multitouch or dualtouch ever you must be plain stupid. You cant claim that! Even if SE said so. There is 80% chance that the screen is at least dualtouch since it was first said that there will be multitouch by SE and than than they changed their mind. Think about it i think they are trying to avoid lawsuit by apple. Also there is such old phones that have at least dualtouch and you think x10 doesnt. There is plenty information pointing towards the posibility of the x10 having dualtouch. SE claimed that the mini didnt have it but yet it does. There is some chineese guy at some other forum that claims he has 2. 1 on it and that in fact its dualtouch but apperantly he is on vacation now so i cant confirm it. Stop saying never cause u dont know! Also the devs found a driver in the system for it if i recall it corectly. There is big chance that there is thats that im saying.

Also i could care less about mt or dt but i get fustrated when i see people saying stuff like" how bout never"
like i said im 80% sure that there will be mt or dt and i am willing to bet any of these guys saying no and never like they know for sure.

Lets wait and see... i think it has atleast dual touch.. but yeah im sure they are afraid of apple suing them directly. Just like how apple went and attacked HTC for senseUI and skipped google altogether. It is quite scary going up against Apple nowadays with its huge battlechest, SE has to play it safe in the meantime while it re structures itself
Can i have a gun and two bullets (in case i miss first time?) please?
Now, seriously.
This is a question asked a million times until now...
Until custom ROMs will be in the wild nobody knows.
It might have MT/DT but is disabled in kernel.
Or as SE hardware is missing.
Just wait damn it... why every 2 days somebody should open a thread/write a post about MT and Froyo?
i know people should stop asking its frustrating every week someone posting questions for mt. no one knows so dont listen when people say yes or no for sure. but there is a good chance is all i can say.

Why is Mutli touch so important?
seriously, what other function you want with mutli-touch beside playing games?
Go get a PSP if you want "REAL" games. All those phone games are never as fun as any of the psp games.
I personally don't even care about MT unless you really need more then 1 finger to practice your mastebation on your x10. Just use your tongue.
Multitouch or not i just got my Rachael today and i didn't get it hoping that it will support MT in the future, i bought it cuz i absolutely love the phone. I've been following news about it since it was first released. But right now my problem is to unlock the phone. I've tried Mobileincanada but they couldn't unlock it how sad.
I would think Sony would be pretty shortsided to release this phone with some of the best specs on the market and no offer something similar to multitouch. i would not be surprised if we get something like it in the future.

Yes they have it worked out it called "one finger" zoom, way better than pinch. One Finger Zoom People should really get over it, really just a gimmick anyway I've had it on my Magic for almost 2 years. I think I've used it all of 4 times, double tap works way better and you don't have to use both hands.
Hey Naveen, nice to see you here. Well, we will know for sure as soon as Cyanogen (custom ROMs) are ready. But, I am not counting on getting multi-touch.
~ Indyan
i don't get it how can one finger zoom stack with other long press function?
personaly i still think pinch zoom is the best solution for zooming though i really use zoom rarely.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I want multi touch not for games or zooming.. but more on accuracy of button presses. Even the edge of the screen where its plastic is sensitive to touch, so just a small part of your finger touching the screen makes the phone register a press. With MT it can could recognize that you arent trying to press there, that your initial finger in the middle is what you really are pressing. Im happy with my x10 generally, but I wouldnt mind having it

I agree. The whole firmware lockdown of a good smartphone is purely about future sales. The PSP-phone explains everything, eg. why Flash is not supported by long delayed 2.1.
Companies shouldn't get away with treating all users like idiots. More power to the hackers..

SE is acting like they are market share leaders instead of near the bottom. If someone asked me if the should get a SE phone unless it was dirt cheap I would say no.
I honestly don't know why people still complaining
First of all there is not a single help-desk that knows everything about products.
Second of all, X10i was their first Android OS, and yet if you looked at any device that used that O.S you will find a huge difference in terms of performance or stability.
And I do liked the fact they locked the bootloader ( yes I do ) because I always want to be different than others, look at all the other devices ( same menu same interface ) with a little difference in applications used.
plus if SE will skip 2.2 that means 3.0 will be released as soon as it is available in the market, in other words, SE will be the first to get it
You guys should hop over to the nexus one general section. It seems HTC has produced some horror stories too.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me with the x10 feedbacks, i know u guys did it to avoid me suffering on SE hands what u guys suffered. I sent the X10 package back, and paid the difference of an Galaxy S t959, that i think i cant go wrong.
I let my best wish for you guys, and at least u made SE lose one customer, even before buying the phone.
Thanks again. Ruben
Bye

Sorry to hear the negativity scared you off It is a great phone.. I haven't used the samsung though so I can't comment, but at least you will probably actually get updates lol
Did you look at the Arc, or are you turned off on SE in general? Although you wouldn't know it by looking in the xda forums, but SE is supporting the X10 like any other Android. It seems standard in the industry that every Android phone gets ONE major OS upgrade, and other smaller ones along the way. The X10 just happens to have already gotten its update, while Android released two new updates in the meantime, making our new update already dated. Android shouldn't be releasing updates this fast in the future, and we've all (including SE) learned our lesson about getting a phone with a dated OS to start with.
Also, for future knowledge in the Galaxy forums regarding posting etiquette....You should have posted your farewell in the other thread you already started on this subject called "Hi", because this is not a new topic or discussion. Only start a new thread as a last resort.Especially ones that are not useful to other members. You may think you are saving yourself time by starting a new thread, but instead you are taking time from everyone else by filling the forums with more fluff for people to filter through.
Please don't take this the wrong way. Trust me, other people won't be as polite about it. In fact they can be rude and degrading, but the point is valid. In order for everyone to enjoy xda, we all need to do our part to keep it clean, organized, and useful.
For a full description of xda rules on posting read the stickie titled something like "Stop!!! Thinking about posting? Read this first!!! "
Goodbye. I'm sure your experiences with the Galaxy will be a lot better than what you would of have with the X10. However, it is for certain, once everything is cracked and sorted out, the X10 *will* be considered a great phone compared to others
If it weren't for XDA the X10 would be a pile of crap. Fortunately there are some great people here who have released much of the X10's potential, unlike SE.

How can u recommend Arc to an X10's unsatisfied user? both are basically the same and SE must be the loser here. X10 is a good phone probably yes but I cannot understand yet what happen to the idiot led light feature still not flashing like on my old nokia N80... Htc g1 was upgraded something from 1.5 to 2.2 passing through revisions and it seem 2.3 is next to be the released.... I'm trying to be realist nothing more. I've an x10 just because there wasn't option to buy another brand but I will never buy Arc even when SE would announce about permanent Os upgrades. If you want me to buy another SE device upgrade X10 first, then when it get outdated I will buy next generation Xperia may be dualcore or later.

He wasn't an unsatisfied user. He returned his X10 new after asking for advice here on xda. I myself said that while I LOVE my X10a, I wouldn't get one this late in the game unless he gets a new phone every 6 months because of how fast this technology is developing.
Thanks to the OP starting a new thread to say "goodbye", you missed the whole conversation in his other thread titled "Hi" started just a few days ago....
So too bad. This is not another bash SE thread, but good try
Once the bootloader is cracked, you will want an X10

It is never too late to talk about SE idiotic politics to get people scared to stay with them... You have suggested Arc and stated about every company is offering same upgrade service, it wasn't true, it was too bad and a mere good try.

OK, well it's a first. HTC should be setting this new standard. They have the longest and best relationship with Google. HTC manufacturers phones for them.
I will say good bye to x10 if just know which phone better. Just have to wait for experts to review new arc, neo, pro.
GN Multimedia - X10i
And being picky.. Neither of those phones have yet had the upgrades you mentioned.. So the answer is still 'none'! HTC should be ahead of the curve though.. They've been in this game longer Than anyone else.

Moto Atrix
Smart man! As a consumer, you deserve freedom in the complete context and spirit of open source, even by law are supposedly guaranteed this right in terms of firmware, from ignition (power up the rom, boot load the firmware) to application functionality and presentation, you should be able to do what you will to YOUR phone, being it is an Open source device - primary selling point.
HTC, Motorola and others do this very well, so much better! Atrix has my money with the Tegra 2 dual core, 48gb storage, Gorilla glass, 1080p recording and playback and that awesome netbook to dock the device with running gnome abd from what I understand, virtual box and in effect, OS/X or Windows 7!
Stick your half pie camera and bravia marketing crap in your tight pie holes Sony! If I want a camera, I can get one that is a zillion times better than a phone for a lot less than your Arc, Neo, Pro or Play... haha ****a!
Sony lack vision to grasp open source. They have no place in Android and anyone with half a clue, knows this +1
