Hi all,
I flashed to ZSJP2 (froyo) over the weekend. Notice there are still no sign of Exchange GAL integration. I know there are software out there support GAL. Apple iPhone, Nokia E71, HTC Desire all having their respective GAL support.
just wonder Google's "better exchange support" on froyo still applicable? Does Samsung plan to include that in the froyo?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
It would be really nice if someone could included it (motoGAL, CorpGAL or anything like that) to his ROM. Or even better make a package that could be installed and running on any froyo ROM.
We know people here to be a lot better than Samsung to add new feature to phone
Thanks
You do have GAL search though.
Yeah was gunna say you can still search the GAL when coposing emails which is more than sufficient.

I know many people only stick to their device's forum and child forums so here's a heads up to those people
Drakknar was able to extract the latest facebook app which has only been availalbe for non-touchscreen devices. Get it here
Just installed it now, supposedly its mainly bug fixes, i mainly use opera to access touch.facebook.com and think MS really needs to speed up development on this app to incorporate chat and other features.
Stock facebook application.
Well,I have unbranded stock HTC TP2 with stock HTC ROM WM6.5,
and it has preloaded Facebook application. I am using it from the very beginning, and it works good.
I am now wondering...what is the difference between the one that I got with the phone, and the one that you posted...of course,if any
Best regards,
Alex.
P.S. Best regards to beautiful Texas...San Antonio,Dallas,Fort Worth,Austin...etc. I have been there!
its got a few updates and bug fixes. You can now tag photos of people from your device (can't remember if you could do that in the previous version but don't remember seeing it before). Also you can use the "like" feature.
Just go ahead an give it a shot, i think it loads faster to but not that sure as i stated earlier, i mainly use my browser to access facebook via touch.facebook.com or lite.facebook.com
and yes Texas is awesome! been here for almost 7 years and don't see myself leaving anytime soon. i'm all over central texas (mainly san antonio-austin) for work and school. Just can't wait till the weather starts getting better so i can get back out on the beautiful lakes we got around here!
Hello.
OK my friend,I will give it a try.
Thank you for posting.
Take care and enjoy Texas!
Alex.
Much, much slower on my e2 AT&T ROM than the 1.0.0.7p application that was cooked into the ROM. I also prefer to use touch.facebook.com on Opera browser, and only use the Facebook client for uploading mobile pics. When is Microsoft going to hire someone that understands what a Facebook user wants to see in the UI, like a comments trail?
So do we have any Devs, lined up to start work on this once it's out?
I'm getting bounty/donation $$$ set aside. ( would really be interested in sense on this, IMO seems better integrated with android then touchwiz, and not a big fan of the iphoney look i see in the pics)
Also looking to dump Bing & VZ navigator ASAP
I also am very curious about the likely level of dev support for this phone. All the negative reviews (e.g. Engadget and Gizmodo) seem to only really find fault with samsung's TouchWiz software and having Bing as the only search option. So I am ready to pull the trigger if it appears likely that upcoming CM6 ROM for the vibrant will be ported to the Fascinate. I refuse to live with bing on a freakin' Android phone

I spoke to HTC today about why we can't use wii controllers . They claimed I was the first person to ask about this. Lol. If we all send them an email it will help escalate them responding to fixing their Bluetooth stack. So please reply to this post after you send HTC an email ..that way we can start flooding HTC with emails to help fix this..than you all for your help
Ok I already see 35 views and no posts or replies that tells me that in Just in an hour or so almost 40 peeps looked at this post ...let's send HTC some emails and get them to fix this
I made a post like this on androidforums and I included a link. In htc's response to me, they blamed google and told me to write to them to fix in in android.
In the links below you'll see absurd responses from htc. The lowest link will take you direct to htc email support contacts.

I hadn't tried the wii controller app with my Incredible. It worked on my Eris though.
so on your eris ( do you have sense rom) you have a wii controller working? could you post a video of that. i have yet to see anyone get a sense rom to be able to connect...
luv it... ty again for info.... i think the only way to get this done is emailing so keeep it up everyone
My email written to htc support, today:
"Hello,
I wrote to you months ago to request support for a full bluetooth stack on the HTC Incredible. The response I received from HTC Support was more than disappointing. HTC Support instructed to write to Google Android development and request that bluetooth be included in the Android core code.
I have friends who have also written to you requesting full support of bluetooth to be included on the HTC Incredible. HTC Support gave different answers to each user -- all the answers were incorrect.
Other ROMs on HTC Incredible do support full bluetooth features, but we choose to keep the stock Sense ROM from HTC. The luster of Sense stock ROM is dulled when users write to HTC Support and receive responses that blame other conditions except HTC developers.
I'm writing this lengthy email to HTC Support to fully inform you, We are not interested in any excuses on why full bluetooth support is not included on the HTC Incredible. We are very savvy on the other roms that exist for the incredible that do support full bluetooth features.
So please, simply add the full bluetooth stack, and bluetooth software modules, which allow bluetooth keyboards and bluetooth mice to connect to the Incredible.
Thanks.. You have my phone number and email address."
I also fixed the lower link in my first email.
thank you luvit
awesome... now if a few hundred of us do the same maybe we will at least get htc to acknowledge this problem.
I got the answer of we acknowledge this issue but there is no scheduled fix in the works.

Lets just keep writing to them
Just wrote 'em. I would love to be able to play Super Mario World on my Dinc without having to go to cm, I can't seem to get away from Virtuous but I want my Mario!!!
Hmm, actually got a very nice, understanding response!
"I understand how important it is for you to be able to use your device to its fullest extent and I apologize for any inconvenience and frustration this has caused you.
I will forward your request to the proper department for review. Hopefully we can see the next update having the Bluetooth stack you are referring to. I am also an Incredible user and I would love to see this happen as well. Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your inquiry."
Maybe they aren't so bad! I really hope they include this on Gingerbread, i would be a happy man
That looks promising.. Perhaps the person answering emails earlier this year got fired. Maybe the one that answered your email is a hot female.
I do believe her to be a hot female. Victor answered me... He was not a hot female.

I just sent an e-mail to HTC as I am also awaiting an update to the Sense framework's Bluetooth stack.
Balls; I was stonewalled. Here is an excerpt from the response e-mail from HTC -
"Thank you for your email regarding your HTC Droid Incredible. We certainly understand your concern and wanting to make the most out of your device use. HTC does not support this connection and cannot alter the Bluetooth programming of a device for an unsupported function. We will document your concern for review in development of our upcoming devices. At this time, we have no further information to provide on your concern."
So.. .inconsistent
update
okay no news from htc .... but check this out.... a new app to let you use your bt headset(mono phone earpiece) to listen to music .. or, well, anything you play. It is a nice app but too pricey. >99 is ok not $3 any way im thinking if he did this someone should be able to just make an app for this,
Any chance of a vanilla rom?, no Samsung software, no themes, just plain old regular Google Android?. I dont care if its 2.1 or 2.2, I had a very nice vanilla rom on my Droid X, and I miss that. As it is I hate this phone intensely due to the lack of finding a Vanilla rom.
Does vanilla exist?
no the rom is not functional yet, but why don't you just apply the aosp theme
Super Clean, adw, asop theme. About as close as you'll get at the moment. It works well and looks stock.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Jt's super clean and aosp theme by retro kid is what I use.
The feeling I've gotten is that it takes a ton of work to make AOSP (vanilla) run on this device, making sure drivers work etc. There's not a whole lot of reason for them to make all that effort when 2.2 is around the corner. Once 2.2 and its source are released I think we will see an AOSP rom, but not likely before. As the others suggest try a rom like blackhole and go with an aosp like theme.
Actually, there are a lot of really cool functions that you lose if everything was aosp
Should not be in the development forum.
As far as vanilla android, its being worked on but right now there are no developments. Samsung hacked together the RIL used to communicate with the cell radio from a 1.5 device to work with our device, not easy to work with
If the new update is not out, well the sad truth is we will not see 2.2 for a long time. Ive swapped my phone out so many times Verizon has given me the choice of choosing a different phone.
I might have to move on myself...ive given android enough time to tickle my fancy. And im just sad the developers just dont want to make decent apps. Its so weird that a phone with such great specs as the galaxy s just isnt supported by devs, the carriers or even samsung. There has to be much more of a problem with the phone than we actually know about.
It is supported by developers. Very much so. However they cannot work with the garbage code, and this 1.5 ril bull****.

I wasnt really talkin about the Hacking Community Devs. I meant Market Devs, carriers and manufacturers. Hacking community can only do so much!
BTW off topic did anyone see how Microsoft is workign together with HACKING DEVS? Smart move , good for them.
Did you see that the big hack was for a whopping custom ringtone? Damn. Go Microsoft. Hack in a song that plays when someone called. I've only had that functionality for the past 5+ years.

The windows phone 7 unlocker was pulled because Microsoft is supposedly going to and the option of enabling homebrew on windows phones. Supposedly of course.

Far from. Microsoft is in no way supporting hackers they just aren't taking an Apple stand against it. Go google the article they basically tell you if you mess up your device you're on your own. Same story different wording. Microsoft will never enable homebrew. Think about their history.
Actually they jailbroke wp7 then microsoft got together to work with them on opening restrictions.... very cool move!!!

BTW if you use custom roms and root your android phone.........your on your own also!!! Warrenty is dead!!
Noone gives you warrenty when you alter the software. NOONE! But i think its a great move by microsoft.
I personally have alot of respect for microsoft. I think that windows phone 7 is a great product.
BTW we are way off topic haha.
Hi there, xda people!
I need some help with my decision. I'm looking for a smartphone with a big screen, Wi-Fi, 3G, good camera and a nice design. both of them are ok for my needs and the price doesn't matter. So wonder if you guys, the experts can tell me what the benefits of WP7 are and those of Android. And also: Xperia X10 in Black or in White
What also matters is the compatibility with a Mac and if the device is upgradeable easily and without hacking it.
Wp7 doesn't have many apps at all, and is pretty bland IMO.
It isn't very Customizeable, and for me would be boring only having one homescreen.
You could put android on the hd7 though, so it doesn't have to be a wp7 vs. Android debate
I have an X10i and my wife has the HD7, feel to ask away.
Just a few quick points...
In regards to hardware...
The HD7 feels *much* slimmer but I think it's kind of awkward. I think the curvature of the X10 makes holding the phone nicer. The HD7's curvature is all wrong.
The camera is much nicer on the X10 but a shame that there's no led flash.
The screens are about the same (obviously, HD7 is larger) but I prefer mine as the resolution is higher. But if you're going to use netflix, the HD7 is nice.
The HD7 has a far better touch digitizer.
Software...
You're going to get more Android bias by posting here. If you want to compare stock vs stock, the HD7 is better. No lag, no stutters, no random freezes for 5 seconds (also, not any room for customizing besides the order of your tiles). A lot of common apps I use on my X10, I've begun seeing on the wp7 app marketplace. If you can live without some apps then you would probably be ok for now. WP7 marketplace is nowhere near the size of Android's, but there's a lot less crap software to wade through too.
But with the X10 getting 2.3, I *hope* it changes (and the HD7 getting Mango in the fall). And if you decide to run a different rom, well, then it gets into a whole different scope of discussion.
Upgrade...
As far as upgrading any of those phone on a mac... You can't with the X10. MS has software to do it for the HD7. To upgrade the X10 on a mac you would need to use bootcamp... i'm not sure if there's a flash tool program to load roms for the X10 on the mac (maybe someone who works with macs can chime in here).
u've never thought about the Xperia Arc?

wife use alot of google services? Im interested in gmail, reader and gcal

I had used HD2 from HTC for a while, and I honestly have to say I don't like WM much, the OS is slow and freeze sometimes.
I switched to HTC Aria (AT&T) few months ago and everything is great!, Android is much better with free apps and the ease to customize anything you like.
I upgraded to X10 today, and still looking for some ways to unlock it, my cell is AT&T.

Of those, I know she uses gmail. WP7 works perfectly with it. I'll check it out later - see how the search works with it (and labels, etc).
She doesn't use google reader but I think there are a couple apps that work with it.
I know she uses a calendar service on her phone but i'm not sure if it's google's or live's calendar. I'll check it out this afternoon but I think it works pretty good with google's calendar. From what I read, if you put something in on wp7, it sets it as an invite and not event. There's a setting on the web based google calendar to display invites.
There is a google maps app that someone made. It works ok, it shows traffic and all the basic stuff. Unfortunately no real navigation option yet.
eizonuts, I'm guessing the OP is on T-Mobile USA. The HD7 and X10i both work on TMO's AWS spectrum.
It's really hard to recommend one over the other not knowing what the OP is looking for software-wise in a phone. Not to mention that the X10 receiving 2.3 in the next month is huge (well, hopefully).
Thanks for the insight.
Im asking because I'm eligable for a hardware upgrade soon and I'm trying to swap my x10 for a win7 handset for a extended trial run.
Once I pick a platform I'll use my upgrade on a top end handset for that os
