2.1 backrounds - Streak 5 General

Been experimenting, 1000 - 400 seems to scroll alright

Yup, made a test image yesterday with different sizes marked, 1000x400 is perfect.

CarE to post some of those images to test?

Mine? it was just a series of boxes starting at 1000x444 and working inwards from the sides at 50px steps to see which came closest, not exactly a work of art.

Linpack Update

I've read various posts about people complaining about the new Linpack update taking much more time to calculate scores. Not sure if Linpack has been updated to read Froyo with more precision or there's something weird going on but I had scores as high as 41mflops and post update can't get above 35.
ha ha plain and simple I like your style lol looks like I'll be reverting back to the previous version.
?
I suspect they had to redo their scale/marks to allow for the Droid X which is wiping the floor with everyone.
i can email the apk for the old linpack if you're interested send me a PM
I try to follow the KISS principle… Keep It Simple Stupid.
I haven’t updated Linpack in a long time and I knew that I need to make some major changes. So, I updated the app this morning with the first major change in almost 4 months. I increased the matrix that is calculated from 200×200 to 500×500. This change was done to hopefully reduce the number of erroneous MFLOPS numbers. With the matrix at 200, times were starting to get well under 1 second. This is not good for a timing benchmark. Since FroYo is taking over, the matrix had to be
enlarged to make the calculation take longer. This happened with the Java Linpack in the 90s, with faster systems they had to increase the size of the matrix too.
Don’t be surprised if your Linpack run takes up to 6 times longer to run, it’s supposed to do that. Look at the resulting MFLOPS over several runs; hopefully they will be more consistent.

I honestly think it's better now because it's more accurate across the board. Running a test 4-10 times the results are a lot closer now, whereas before they varied by almost 10 points.
Just my 2c
That makes sense, you always get a better/most accurate result with larger sample data. Thanks for taking the time to look this up and post it (although I'm still slightly depressed by the fact that the DInc isn't top dog anymore, hehe it works for what I need it for though and then some... Android phone tech is moving so quickly!).

Agreed, that's why I used the word "isn't" =p. I think you're eyes might need a rest jd, too much ADB and posting via XDA Forum App makes Jack a blind boy!

I got the Adam!

Tell me what you want to see guys so i can post, i can post videos and images or answer questions, videos may take a while to upload since i got a crappy upload speed :|
Questions so far:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About a review is may take a while since i work from 9 to 21 most of the days and its very hard for me to have the tablet all day, atm im just uncharging it to make a full one and will try to use it during this week properly with all functions being used.
Curious about build quality and performance. Does it feel like a high end tablet?
Build Quality is very good, not a single gap or bad cover. The grip on the top of the tablet feels very good and you cant even notice the weight.
Can you tell if its froyo or gingerbread? Build.props on the source Rom indicate froyo.
It is Froyo, but as said by Rohan its a modified version of it.
If you have the regular LCD model, please post your comments or pictures of the quality of the screen, and viewing angle.
I have a pixel Qi version the viewing angles are good, i will post a video soon with a comparison between the adam and my monitor.
I hope your not in the EAP.

please, write a full review!!!!
I would LOVE it if you had a slingplayer to try...
please post a video of basic functions in eden. also the normal android desktop, is there a way to not use eden and just use stock android. also if you have the LCD show the viewing angles or at least tell us how they are. thanks
Can you please record it using launcher pro? Eden is fine, but I'm not going to use it.

Multitouch is perfectly fine. BUT YES, root this device and get honeycomb on it. that's my end goal. I never rooted any of my phones because they both were Nexus and i love the google experience.

how much is the adam, i cant seem to find out
The entry level Adam will start at $375.33 and will pack a regular LCD and WiFi connectivity. Adding 3G shoots the price up to $425.33. On the higher end there's the Pixel Qi model, which will start at $499.95 with WiFi and $549.99 with 3G
EDIT: Video up but still processing.
I'm hearing some horrible things about the stock software. FCs, bad touchscreen responsiveness, browser bring wonky in leaf mode... Is it just in need of a few patches or do you see any deeper problems?

I felt that and some reflections only with the screen protection they come with, after removing it it just disapeared.
Hey, thanx for the vids, I have been reading lots of bad info on other websites, but I think I should wait for someone from XDA, please give a full review and breakdown, I would also like you to review after the update is (fixed) and applied and note the differences. It would be a big help to those who havent ordered yet.

Feedback on new AT&T ROM

So I installed it yesterday (and thanks to all those who helped).
I think the new ROM is FANTASTIC. Everything works for me, its faster than before and I have no lags. Im using Launcher Pro because the new Blur doesn't support scrolling widgets.
Battery is definitely better (turned on at 6am and had 15% at 6pn which us amazing for me).
Camera has been improved. Pictures look sharper and the colors no longer look weird. I owned an sgs2 and to me the pictures are just as good (and definitely better than the Sensation I owned for a bit). Its also much faster (put it in sport mode and virtually immediate).
Fingerprint reader works. Properly. Period.
Sound on speaker is excellent. Its still the best device on the market.
Sound on earpiece might be a little quieter. I am not certain on this but its something I noticed on my first call.
Gps lock is very quick. It was before too.
Software. Wow what a MASSIVE improvement. Email software is finally useable readable and possibly as good as Sense. Widgets are also better, like weather. Photo software and gallery better. MUSIC is a different application totally. I think I preferred the old one or just need to get used to it. Dialer is improved. Video playback is still great and again an area where this device excels over others I have owned. Animations also very cool. Top bar and notifications simply better than before. Entire color scheme is improved.
Stock keyboard is better but I still make a lot of mistakes when typing. HTC still make the best Android keyboard IMHO and I wish I could port the Sensation keyboard.
Overall its just more elegant and mire pleasurable ti use. For the first time I feel like its a device to show off. I really believe its the best device out there. Had Moto started out with this ROM it would have been considered a device as good as the HD2 in its day.

After one day on gingerbread, I'd have to say the keyboard's the biggest improvement for me. An @ key without having to press alt first? Yes! Long press keys for numbers? Yes!
I agree. It's a fantastic upgrade and the new skin is slick....my only complaint is that homescreen scrolling isn't as fast as I expected. The forest LWP is a little slow, and pinch to zoom on stock camera gallery isn't as good as my previous phone or 3rd party market apps
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
its is an amazing difference
before making the plunge I wud like to know from u guys about the screen gradient issues
is it solved??
like skin tones appeared really odd and washed out
I thot it was a software issue as the screen grabs also showed them on my PC
that was a big gripe for me but for the otherwise near perfect phone
and ya camera quality was also really poor
Are you talking about kenns?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
dunno whom u are asking but am still on froyo
wud love to hear that screen issues are solved
leaving aside the pentile issue as SGS also has pentile but looked better
Battery life is the biggest improvement forvmr

I freakin love the new ROM. Thanks KP!
They have made a smart move by selecting a color scheme that greatly reduces the effect of the inherent technical limitations of a Pentile LCD! Its better than Froyo but I guess only because of the color scheme they have decided to go with!

Even if the color scheme didnt change its 10 times better. Im tired of the complaints about the phone, go get a different one and/or dont complain about this one. We dont care to hear it.
Loving the new rom so far. I do think the cardock app got worse (looks better, but fewer custom buttons). I love how you can uninstall apps using a long press from the app drawer.
I'm also looking forward to trying the ignore call, respond with text option.
Last thing, wish the default music app worked with Google Music Beta... installed the Google one instead.

Overall, this seems to be working pretty fantastically for me except for a few things.
- Contact List can get REALLY slow sometimes. (15 seconds to load up a contact's information!)
- Unlocking (the screen, not the phone) can get slow, as well as Facebook and a few other apps. Haven't fully tested yet.
Is this happening to anyone else?
So far, i'm loving the new blur, everything is working fine for me.but i hope this is not the final blur version, because i was watching a demo of blur for droid3 on youtube it looks a little bit better then this. The swipe between screens was different and the quick contact widget was different and more useful.
are you sure about the battery life part.. i got a bad battery life thats the reason why i flashed it back to froyo 2.2.2 ( 1.83 sbf ) .. if you are also using kenneth's beta release >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159385
and if u also talking abotu kenneth's beta one. fingerprint reader doesn't work for me

You only hard brick if you try to do the OTA. If you use kennethpenn's method using CWM with an unlocked bootloader you'll have no problem.

anyone else has this facebook app problem on their note?

If you take a look at the attachment you can see what i mean. It doesn't fit the boxes or tables, friends who have other android phones don't seem to have this problem.. Since i'm the only one with a galaxy note i figured let's ask around here
Edit:
stock browser: mobile facebook webpage = excactly the same
Chrome: pictures are way smaller, but the rest is the same
No problem like this with Facebook on my Note. What Firmware/Rom are you on ? DPi?
Sorry forgot to post that
- stock ics rom
- not rooted and no DPI changes
My fb is fine, running XXLQ2 rom.
In my case (stock LPY XEN) I only have the "problem" with images flowing out of the frame. Comment and like icons are fine.

Youve still got the blue texts with like and comment.. Those are just thumbs on my note... Strange
Edit: way cooler picture added, gives a 'special' facebook experience
Don't know about the text and icons not being correct but the images are fine and should look like they are overflowing out of the box.

Try friendcaster, its better than the fb app and all the sync works normally...

well ill be trying that the next days see if i can get used to it, but it sure looks nice thanks
I had all sorts of problems with the current version, 1.9.4.
I rolled back to 1.9.3. and I'm fine.
Sure makes me wish that:
1) you could download previous versions
2) You could flag 'ignore this release' in google play
Friendcaster is real nice, but it can't access everything facebook can.
I use both.
- Frank
I never use the FB app due to experiences in the past , but the mobile webpage looks just fine here (rooted ICS 4.0.3 LPY with stock browser)
edit: installed FB app for a moment and made a screenshot of that as well

Screen going out?

Turned it on this morning and this is what the screen looks like now. I assume my screen is going out. Would I be correct? I tried turning the unit off then back on but it didn't fix anything.

This is certainly hardware related. It could be damaged or not properly connected LCD ribbon cable.
Before I start thinking about hardware issues, I would start looking at software issues.
I base this on the screenshot issue to begin with.
Quite honestly, I would wipe and format that puppy. Then flash a somewhat stock rom.
Hell, I would wipe and format several times,
Also, some info on what rom you have now would be helpful. Bootloader version would be nice.
Looks like you run an aftermarket launcher,,
MD
I was thinking of trying a reset. Guess I'll try that first.
Also, I'm running non-rooted with stock launcher.

There is a slight possibility that this could be a software issue, but the screenshot seems to be ok, so at least screenshot app is getting correct data.
@guitarman584 how the screen looks when you boot up the tab? Does the Acer logo in bootloader looks ok or is it mixed up together?
It does the same thing on the Acer and Android boot up screens.
Then there's no way it's a software issue. You can try opening it and checking if the LCD cable is properly connected to the motherboard but can void your warranty. You can also damage it more if you're not skilled enough.

Well this sucks. The warranty ended on 7/12/12. The timing couldn't be worse. Guess it won't hurt anything to open it up and check the connections.
Some user just posted a link to a500 teardown in the other thread.

If you paid with plastic you should look and see if the card has a warranty bonus. I am having crazy issues with 3d, so it was a drag when I checked my warranty @ Acer. Then I remembered that the card I used added an extra year. So thankfully, while I haven't sent it back yet, I know I have plenty of time to goof with it.
I've never heard of that. I used my ATM card, not a credit card so it doesn't seem like I would have it on a normal checking account card.
I just noticed something that doesn't make sense. When I press and hold the bookmarks widget as shown in the 2nd post, the issue goes away until I let go. I did a hardware and software reset but this didn't help. Also when I go to slide to another screen, the issue goes away. I'll try and get video of it so you can see exactly what it does.
Here's the video of what I was talking about yesterday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PVIMbYFRis
I just noticed that while on the lock screen, everything is fine. It's only when viewing any of the 5 screens that the issue shows itself.

Well they finally accepted to take it in for repair under warranty, even though I told them the date I purchased it and it was passed 1 year. I hope I get it back soon. It sucks being without it.
