if i unroot it then delete all the davilk-cave off my sd card, will the sprint store know my phone was rommed or rooted??
run the RUU and they won't know a thing.
As chromium said..
See this thread to download it (scroll down to post #2 for the RUU): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572
Don't worry about following all those rooting steps in the first long post #1. Just scroll down to post #2 and download the .5 RUU file, then run it from your PC with the phone plugged into USB.
It will completely wipe/erase the phone and revert it back to factory stock settings, just like if it were fresh out of the box. (Make sure you back up your contacts and other important information on it before doing this.)

Yes, and they will come over and slash your tires and kick your dog, all before refusing to take your phone back.

hi... i'm in the same boat... my phone is not working right, the whole touchscreen stopped working properly a few days ago and i want to bring it in for repair/replacement.
i tried running that RUU from the linked post and i keep getting a 120 error that i have less than 30% battery. my phone reports 98%.
any suggestions what i can do now? (btw, tried the RUU on 2 pc's, both give the same error... while my battery is showing fully charged now, RUU is thinking it's not)
edit: ok, so overcame the battery obstacle... i updated the htc sync app on my pc and it seemed to start... now i'm getting error 170, usb connection once it tries to actually start the process.
well, it started once, now i'm getting the 120 error again...
edit 2: ok, so i think i know now what the problem was. i was using the froyo 2.2 vanilla rom with the above errors. i flashed Fresh rom on it and then once i was able to get sync with the pc using the HTC sync software, i tried the RUU again and it seems to work fine now. so you can't RUU with a non-HTC rom i guess?
oh, and switched to an xp pc... was having problems under win 7-64

Alright...... first post here. Picked up an HD2 to check out and see what all of the fuss is about.
Here is where I am at:
-Phone failed an upgrade.
-Phone sometimes boots to triangle with exclamation, software update failed, and sometimes to red/green/blue screen stating ROM has failed etc.
-Hard reset, same issue.
-Soft reset, same issue.
-Can boot phone to bootloader screen. Plugging in changes message from serial to USB. Attempted software update from T-Mobile site, gets to 8% and fails. Firewall on or off does not matter.
Where to go from here. Phone is 3 mos old to the day, and I can send in for warranty at this point and wait 2 weeks or try something here. For now I want a stock working HD2, then go from there.
Searched as best I could, so please no negative comments. If I would have found it I wouldn't be here. Closest I came was a post on T-Mobile's support page and unhelpful replies to the other guy who had the same issue, so I didn't bother.
Thanks and look forward to being here.
attempting fix
I would suggest downloading the T-mo stock rom from the [ROM]Leo 1.5 T-MOBILE Test & Stock ROMS forum in the TMous Rom forum.
Connect via Usb and flash your phone to reload. Very easy to do as long as your pc sees the phone when you connect it. Just download to your pc, and double click the .exe with the phone connected.

If it's under warranty they will ship you one within a few days and you put your broken one in the box and send it back. All on their dime.
Were you upgrading to the 3.14 ROM from T mobile's website when it crashed? And you are saying that your phone was perfect prior to the upgrade? What ROM were you running before the upgrade? Do have Hard SPL or was this stock?

It was in fact to the 3.14 I assume since all previous updates had been done.
This...... hmmm....... I think it did say HSPL 2 on one of the colored screens.
If you do have hspl on it, you want to remove that before sending it in for warranty as hspl voids it. You should be able to download an official tmous rom from this site and just go to bootloader, hook up to computer and flash official rom.

You want to download the stock rom from Tmobiles Wmupgrade page... Then follow these directions. Flashing from microsd will overwrite your Hard SPL and you can send it back no problem. Or if it actually just works, you are good to do. After that you can flash Cotulla's HSPL3 and start rockin again.
Downloaded the file linked in the first post. Took the fat32 formatted MicroSD out of my Bold, it is 8GB, and moved the file to it. Put it in the HD2. Started the flash, failed on Radio_V2. Flashing again now and it is taking forever and stuck about 1/8th of the way, about 5 minutes into it thus far.

I had a warranty replacement and did not have to pay any shipping at all. They sent me a refurb in a white box with a return shipping label in it. I put my broken phone in the white box and then applied their return label and sent it back out...
Have you ever returned a phone that is under warranty with T Mobile?
You are confusing 2 things. Through HTC you are responsible and they try to fix yours, through T-Mobile they send you another phone and a pre paid label.

Try a Task 29 from bootloader, then try to flash the ROM again via microsd... Sounds like a nightmare. Sorry dude.
Bootloader stays at "Serial" now even with USb on front or back of PC. Firewall on/off does not matter. Even better. Sigh.

Task 29 form the card...
Doesn't even fire up from the card right now anymore. Just goes to the bootloader and says serial. Hard reset still works but doesnt restart in the end due to the corrupt rom.

I'm trying to reflash the stock WM ROM on my Vogue, but I keep getting Error 260 in the RUU. My phone is currently on an Android ROM (the latest Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo, which I installed yesterday) but I should note that the sdcard wasn't being read by Android, and my phone can't mount to be viewed on my computer.
How can I revert back to the stock ROM now?
Thanks for any help.

Error 260 is a connection error (sorry for being so obvious). Can you post the exact steps that you are following to flash?
Haha yeah, I know it's a connection error. I've done many flashes so it's weird that it doesn't work anymore.
I press the power+camera+reset buttons to go into the tri-colour screen, plug in the phone to my computer, run the stock Bell RUU and then get the error.
Tried this at least 5 times now, restarted my computer a few times, tried different USB ports. No luck. =/

I had to ask since I needed to make sure that you were doing the right thing . You mentioned also that Android is not picking up your SD card. Try to put a nbh rom file in the root of your card (hopefully 2 GB or less), stick it in the phone and reboot into bootloader. The device should pick it up and try to flash from SD. If this doesn't work, then I am afraid that you may have a bad board in your phone.

Ah, the thing is that the 512mb card that came with my phone stopped working the other day, so I've been using an 8gb one instead, and I'm too far from any computer store to go and buy a smaller one.
I did try the .nbh trick but I'm guessing the phone wasn't reading the card.

Hi all - I'm in a bit of trouble.
Tried changing the OS to Android and must have made a mistake somewhere along the line.
Was using ROM update utility MAGDLR V1.13 and got as far as updating the ROM Was told that the screen should go black and if it didn't, then I needed to perform a reset.
I did this and now the screen just shows the htc logo on white background.
Irish phone - got it august '10. recently upgraded ROM from HTC site to version 3.14.405.2 but not sure now whether I've wrecked it completely.
Was just sick of WinMo and wanted a change - can anyone help please?
ND
boot into bootloader and start again. do you have hspl? right radio?
get into bootloader. flash magldr. then flash nandroid.
you probably need to downgrade the rom to get to hspl 2.08
Thanks - I got the correct HSPL and installed it on the phone, that part was fine. The problem now is that the handset isn't even acknowledging when it's plugged in. And when I connect via USB, the computer isn't registering any connection to it.
I think it's toast! The only thing I can see is a white background with green htc lettering i.e. welcome screen
Thanks for getting back to me, any other ideas?
Will I be able to reload original windows back on by myself?
Try windows 7 XP sucks doing this kind of stuff

Can you get to bootloader?
(power on while holding vol. down)........
If so, get to bootloader then connect via usb. The word serial at the bottom of the screen should change to USB. This sometimes takes a few minutes (for me anyway)
Once it reads "USB" flash a WM6.5 Rom in the usual way.......
If you cant get to bootloader then theres a good chance you've somehow borked your device......
Thanks everyone and in particular jsmmcabe and conantroutman
I got into bootloader and I'm trying to reinstall the windows os from there.
will let you know how I get on,
thanks again guys - lifesavers
I should have mentioned that flashing a stock 6.5 rom will wipe HSPL.
If you flash a stock rom then you will need to reinstall HSPL before attempting any MAGLDR/NAND shenanigans... (sheNANDigans?? see what I did there )
If you flash a custom ROM from XDA then your HSPL will be ok......
Also should have mentioned the age old "NO .51. radios on a tmous" advice.........
Good luck.......
Well after all of that I went to Pirate Bay, downloaded an Android 2.2 file, copied it onto my SD card and ran it.
Hey presto, I have an Android Phone!
I cannot begin to tell you how much better it is. It's fast, it doesn't freeze, the whole interface is much cleaner and easier to use.
SNAG ITEM:
Tried doing the same with a friends phone and when activating the copied files from the SD card, the thing just hangs and I have to reset the phone.
Any idea why it worked on mine and not his?
Same phone, bought in Ireland, a week apart. Different mobile operator networks though..... I'm Vodafone, he's O2 - weird, no?

Could be its not booting because of an incompatible radio....
must be above 2.08.50..... you can find this info in settings about phone...
Also, why download android from the piratebay???
Everything android related you could possibly need is here on XDA.
Personally Id be suspicious of anything from a site like that. Theres no way of knowing whats in that Rom. I would change to a well used and trusted build from XDA if I were you.
Theres no exact science to getting this running on different phones, what works for one may not work for another......
Out of nowhere, my perfectly working unrooted desire hd heated up and thne went into a non stop restart loop. It wont even shut down. Just restart every time and get heating up.
I took the battery out, placed it back in and now it wont start. Tried the hardware factory reset. Factory reset happneed the phone started and again went into the restart loop heating up
NO power problems, no droppage no nothing.
What is this? please some one help.
Thats a new one.
Is the heat from the battery or the handset?
Do you have a branded handset or was it stock HTC?
HTC one. not branded.
Funny just been 3 months. The heat actually was from the set. Absolutely nothing wrong before it. I am not a fancy cell person, so no fancy things in it either.'
It gave me a force close on messages. Then it deleted my messages automatically, and then it went into this crazy restart loop getting heated up more and more..
the rest i already mentioned.
Is it DEAD?
I wouldn't say it was dead yet.
Do you know what your HTC Firmware was or your Android Version?
It was froyo. Did not do the gingerbread update yet.
Sense was 2.0
Ok,
Could you download the latest HTC firmware (Gingerbread) from HERE.
Once downloaded, remove the battery, reinsert. Plug into your computer, but don't turn the phone on. You should get the orange charging light. Now run the RUU.exe file and follow the prompts.
Ok. but what is your thought process on this?
also i had the winmo ruu. Can u give the link for ruu u mentioned in your reply?
EDIT: Got the ruu clear.
My thoughts is to upgrade your handset to the latest firmware. In the process of upgrading your handset will be completely wiped. And it should fix your problem.
If it still fails to work, there maybe a bigger underlying cause to your issue.

You said your phone is unrooted right? So, maybe installing the RUU will not succeded as ID wrong alarm will appear.
You need to root first which you need to turn ON your dead phone which i think impossible. Therefore the only solution is to return back to HTC for repairing. Unroot should still under warranty.
Doesn't the wrong id alarm appear only if you're trying to apply a wrong RUU? (For example T-Mobile RUU to an Orange phone)
What I would do if I had unrooted stock DHD without custom recovery that has problems is to send it for repair under warranty. If you didn't do anything that would void the warranty, don't do it now.

his name is yahya.hamid..i guest his from asia or arabic which i also guess his phone must be asia or arabic version..thats why i think he can not install wwe version without root..just my guess, which i'm maybe wrong
Well thANKS ALL for your concern.
Its the WWE version. Factory unlocked. not rooted. I dont have SPL or Hard SPL on it.
Its like brand new.
Yes i can goto the boot loader screen. If i switch the phone on after atleast 12 hours, it switches on...gets immediately into heating and restart loop. goes dead.
then it wont start again until 12 to 13 hours.
Not a battery issue since i replaced it.
Now shall i go for the ruu gingerbread or should i simply contact htc ( which btw is not in the country that i live and i will have to wait till i make the trip aBroad)
I'd flash the gingerbread RUU I posted first. It's the official HTC update so don't worry about voiding you warranty.
Like I mentioned previously, ensure your handset is completely off, plug into your computer, wait for the orange charging LED then run the RUU.
If your problem still persists then a HTC repair is your only remaining option.

I have the ever failing what it seems like my touch 4g. I dont have it rooted nor do i want it (unless need be). I was using my phone then put it on the charger, i went to use it again but it wouldnt turn the screen on to unlock. I did a battery pull, yet it just stuck to the mytouch 4g boot screen. what do i do to get it back? I looked at the forums and found similar articles, but none like mine. is there a way to do it without rooting my phone?

Do you have a card adapter and a card reader, if so pull your card out of the phone and put it in the adapter then put it in the card reader once your computer sees it copy the file you downloaded and paste it on that card make sure you rename it PD15IMG then when you put your phone into hboot it should read it then it should ask to update

well it has to do something with the bad chip, i never had this problem myself so i'm not really sure on the details of it. but maybe you can find answers in this this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079025 it's about rooting but it explains your problem too.
Anyways from what I know is that your phone should still be under HTC warranty. you should try contact HTC and try to get a replacement. Even though you're not under tmobile the phone should technically still be under warranty as it's not even a year old... i think.. but doesn't hurt to try

Fail-PU means failed partition update, meaning your eMMC chip died, meaning that you are indeed bricked.
you could try another download of PD151IMG and see if it works.
you didn't root or anything? wow, another failed eMMC chip without root...
