Heated Death Loop :DHD dead Please help - Desire HD General

Out of nowhere, my perfectly working unrooted desire hd heated up and thne went into a non stop restart loop. It wont even shut down. Just restart every time and get heating up.
I took the battery out, placed it back in and now it wont start. Tried the hardware factory reset. Factory reset happneed the phone started and again went into the restart loop heating up
NO power problems, no droppage no nothing.
What is this? please some one help.

Thats a new one.
Is the heat from the battery or the handset?
Do you have a branded handset or was it stock HTC?

HTC one. not branded.
Funny just been 3 months. The heat actually was from the set. Absolutely nothing wrong before it. I am not a fancy cell person, so no fancy things in it either.'
It gave me a force close on messages. Then it deleted my messages automatically, and then it went into this crazy restart loop getting heated up more and more..
the rest i already mentioned.
Is it DEAD?

I wouldn't say it was dead yet.
Do you know what your HTC Firmware was or your Android Version?

It was froyo. Did not do the gingerbread update yet.
Sense was 2.0

Ok,
Could you download the latest HTC firmware (Gingerbread) from HERE.
Once downloaded, remove the battery, reinsert. Plug into your computer, but don't turn the phone on. You should get the orange charging light. Now run the RUU.exe file and follow the prompts.

Ok. but what is your thought process on this?
also i had the winmo ruu. Can u give the link for ruu u mentioned in your reply?
EDIT: Got the ruu clear.

My thoughts is to upgrade your handset to the latest firmware. In the process of upgrading your handset will be completely wiped. And it should fix your problem.
If it still fails to work, there maybe a bigger underlying cause to your issue.

You said your phone is unrooted right? So, maybe installing the RUU will not succeded as ID wrong alarm will appear.
You need to root first which you need to turn ON your dead phone which i think impossible. Therefore the only solution is to return back to HTC for repairing. Unroot should still under warranty.

Doesn't the wrong id alarm appear only if you're trying to apply a wrong RUU? (For example T-Mobile RUU to an Orange phone)

What I would do if I had unrooted stock DHD without custom recovery that has problems is to send it for repair under warranty. If you didn't do anything that would void the warranty, don't do it now.

his name is yahya.hamid..i guest his from asia or arabic which i also guess his phone must be asia or arabic version..thats why i think he can not install wwe version without root..just my guess, which i'm maybe wrong

Well thANKS ALL for your concern.
Its the WWE version. Factory unlocked. not rooted. I dont have SPL or Hard SPL on it.
Its like brand new.
Yes i can goto the boot loader screen. If i switch the phone on after atleast 12 hours, it switches on...gets immediately into heating and restart loop. goes dead.
then it wont start again until 12 to 13 hours.
Not a battery issue since i replaced it.
Now shall i go for the ruu gingerbread or should i simply contact htc ( which btw is not in the country that i live and i will have to wait till i make the trip aBroad)

I'd flash the gingerbread RUU I posted first. It's the official HTC update so don't worry about voiding you warranty.
Like I mentioned previously, ensure your handset is completely off, plug into your computer, wait for the orange charging LED then run the RUU.
If your problem still persists then a HTC repair is your only remaining option.

If you have access to your sdcard you could try to flash the ruu using the bootloader : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890

Help me! My Hero is stuck at the boot screen!

Hello everyone. I have a problem with my new Hero. It's fresh, I haven't root or up rom yet. Only unlock it with a code bought from Internet. Yesterday, my nephew (4yo) used it to play some simple games. When I got it back, the battery ran out. So I connected it to a charge and turned the phone on but it stucked at the boot screen, only displays the "Hero" line. Nothing worked (touch, buttons). I had to take out the battery to turn it off.
So, I tried many ways: took out the battery and put back, took out the Sim card, sdcard, battery and put all back, etc. Nothing works. I decided to hard reset the phone by pressing Home, Return and Power buttons. After few seconds of erasing data, it told me to press the Menu button to restart the phone. I pressed the Menu and again, the anoying "Hero" line appeared.
I assumed that while playing games, my nephew might press some buttons to ativate or erase something that I don't know. So I ask you pros can you guess what is the problem and if you know it, what can I do to get my Hero works again? Many thanks to you all!
Don't turn it on but charge it up until you think its full then try to boot again.

I'va tried this way too, still no work. Thanks anyway.
right this way may work but you will lost all your data.
turn the phone on as best you can do and leave it on, plug into a pc and try to reinstall the RUU from HTC's website (latest rom) this will wipe everything and restart.
That should work but you would lose everything.
The other way is to try to use adb to control the phone.
Yes, I was thinking of reinstall the RUU too. But the latest ROM in HTC website is 2.73.61.5 but mine is 2.73.73.x (It's a HTC Hero from Orange - France). Is is safe to downgrade the ROM?

no harm in trying.
Can you not find the RUU for your orange France phone? i.e. the same one you were already on.
OK I will try with the RUU and report later if this works or not.
I think Orange France has modified the original ROM of HTC.

Really?? How you manage to get a 2.73.73.x
I tot the latest build for the roms was 2.73.61.5...bizzare
Anyways it should allow you to downgrade fine because i remember i did it to return from 2.73.61.5 to the older rom because i wanted to root it...suprisingly i didnt have to use the goldcard method or anything to downgrade

Bricked HD2 repair

Having my TMOUS HD2 bricked by using Task 29 and 2.09.51 radio, thus losing the warranty, how much does it cost to have it repaired by HTC? Do they even accept them for repair?
Does it even boot to the tri-color bootloader screen? If so, you can fix it (I think). If it is indeed dead, there are some posts describing brief, furtive encounters with a microwave... (wink-wink-nudge-nudge)...
Hope you get your device either fixed or replaced soon...
It is dead, no tri-color bootloader, nothing
does it turn on at all? stuck at the pink/white "stick together screen"?

Since it's less than 2 weeks since you got it, just take it to the T-Mobile store you got it from, and tell them that it just stopped working for no reason. I know it's bad thing to do, but it's better them than you right... I am sure they are prepared for the first set of devices to have some issues
Just be ignorant and tell them that you left the phone charging overnight and the next day morning, it just stopped working. They will just swap the device. Just make sure that you go to the store in-person to pick up the deivce. If you mail it in, they would dignose and probably know you have messed around with it.
I did the same thing with I flashed my device the next day it came out. I flashed a Custom ROM that had a non-compitable radio and it just did not boot. No bootloader mode.. nothing. NADA...
I called the store I got it from, he asked me to come by the next days since he was of all the devices and he was expecting a few the next day. I asked him to reserve one for me for the exchange for the damaged device. I went in the next day.. They just swapped the device. I actually told him to switch the battery from the new device to see if this one works, he said, it does not matter as he had send the whole device back anywayz..
So, good luck. Hope this helps.
Same as above for me except they had no devices left. Out of stock completely with no ETA. I got my refund and I'm back to being HD2'less.
I paid $172 to have me htc blueangel screen repaired if that helps.

Nothing to do with task 29, task 29 is safe. Radios with ..51.. are deadly.
Unfortunately some of the ROM's can be the kiss of death.
I can tell you that you have completely bricked the phone and they can't tell what ROM you have then you can probably get the warranty with HTC. If they discover you have a ROM it will be shipped back to you and they won't even fix it. It's a hit or miss with them.
I sent back one HTC HD with custom ROM and they didn't have a problem. I snet another one back and they declined due to custom ROM.
Just hope you get them on a good day

That's pretty much right....when you flash an incompatible radio to this phone (which that ROM has), that's the surest way to kill your HD2.
You can send it to HTC for repair, where they will likely tell you that you need a new mainboard (CPU, rom/ram, etc) and offer to charge you for it....usually very close to the price of just replacing the phone with a used one.

bricked by the radio that rom contains.
sorry.
Got my HTC HD2 rooted and installed droid froyo and it worked for 2-3 weeks, and then suddenly after trying out a program from droid market, called photofun, it just froze, so I removed the battery and put it back in, and it is not coming up at all. Tried hard reset with the vol up/down+power with no luck. Completely dead, would not even go to the boot loader.
So if anyone is in same situation as I was, just search for htc repair in your local CL and I took mine to a local wireless store here and they're able to fix it somehow and cost me $50. Software issue they said.
There seems to be a way to fix a completely dead/bricked hd2, without having to replace the whole mobo, but cannot find any info online. Anyone would like to share please? In case I bricked my phone again or anyone else who bricked their phone.

Sending my G2 back, how do I get it back to original condition?

Hi all,
I'm sending my G2 back for repair as its having screen issues and they told me warranty is void if the software has been tampered with. I've goldcarded my G2 and flashed it with various ROMs, how do i get it back to original factory condition so they won't notice its been goldcarded or flashed before?
Many thanks

Who? HTC?
..... Anyway, to get back to stock you need to run a HTC RUU .exe. The older ones are listed here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
Thanks, is there anything else I need to do? Will they be able to tell its goldcarded?
I read on here that its against their warranty Terms & Conditions to have "illegal" software on the phone. I asked the guy at the repair centre if I would be charged and he said if the phone was badly damaged, water damaged or if any illegal software was on there I'd be charged.
I'm going through T-Mobile shop though as I'm hoping to get a courtesy phone as I'm told it could take up to 3 weeks.
As long as you format the phone fully and flash the ruu it should be fine. They wont ask for the memory card so it wont matter

Maybe easier with the new Androot method.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Androot or the stickied method in the dev forum would do it. The latter uses adb so is slightly techy, the former seems to get mixed reports of not getting into the rooted recovery . Either should work
1. Install HTC Sync
2. Power up your phone while holding down vol. button
3. download an RUU, and flash it

[Q] Desire Z Screen Blank After OTA Update

Hello,
I have a friends who has a HTC Desire Z phone.
He has told me that he received and attempted to install an OTA update.
After installing the update, the phone's screen doesn't come on. Ever.
The key lights come on fine and the phone charges like normal when you plug it in and the phone is also recognised by my computer, although not in HTC Sync for some reason.
I've looked at some of the HTC Desire threads that explain similar problems to the one my friend is having, but they don't seem to work for me because they mention using HTC Sync, which I can't use.
Is there any advice you could possibly provide to get it fixed?
Thanks
Roz
--UPDATE--
Tried using a RUU to possibly change the firmware back to a compatible version, but all the version I've downloaded so far are giving me an error.

If u can use adb to access the phone u should try to use pneuter exploit. Look up the downgrade thread on development subforum. After that u can apply the older rom, and see if it helps.
But might be a hard time to use the hboot menu with no screen...

Do you have the eng hboot ? If so, you might be able to do something with fastboot.
Or alternatively you could try flashing a stock RUU image from your PC.

Problem is....most of the images I've come up against are giving me Customer ID errors.
Is it possible you can give me a RUU that will actually work.
So far, the only one I've tried that "worked" is 1.72.405.2 but that's the one that caused the screen to be all screwy.

If the phone in question is not rooted, and still under warranty, why not turn it in for a new one or repair since you were simply trying to do an allowed update? Just a thought.

G2 blank screen

So my phone just died on me today. It's turned on, but the screen is blank. I can't see anything, the signs on the bottom (home, menu, back, search) area all bright, but pressing them doesn't help either. I've pulled out the battery the sim etc, but nothing. It'll ring if somebody calls/texts/emails but I won't know who the caller is. I can't even pick up the phone unless I've the original headphone on (by pressing the play button) and ofcourse can't make any phone calls either.
I live in Canada, and can't return it to Tmobile, since I bought it used from USA this year. This phone was bought in Oct last year by original owner so still under htc warranty.
I called htc today and they took down my address and credit card number and asked me to ship the phone to them since it's still under warranty. However I rooted this phone with s-off back in January, so I'm not sure if they'll find out. If they do they will charge me up to $39 for diagnosing the problem.
I tried going to recovery mode by holding volume down button and pressing power, but still blank screen. Is there anyway to un root it?
Do you guys think I should send it in for repair/exchange? Any advice on this will be appreciated. Thanks

If you can't fix it brick it for sure.
I'm gonna assume the phone is still working and able to access h boot and u just can't see the screen
Before you do this I recommend you to do everything you can to fix it.
Did you flash the hboot engineer?
Can you connect to your comp and access fastboot?
If you can't...welll then if I were u ill put a radio on sd card name it pc10img then click voulme up(assuming its flashing radio) (in hboot btw). Then pull out the battery to brick it completely.
well that's just my opinion

Does anybody know if it's a problem with the screen or something to do with the software? I've been able to hear the beeps while dialing random numbers after pressing talk/dial number (not that I could see what I was pressing), so I'm guessing it's the screen, but not sure.
Can somebody tell me using their G2 that after you connect it to your computer, approximately how low on the screen is the option to access the memory/phone drive? I remember that the first option was "Charge only" but can't remember the rest of them and their order.

Mine did exactly the same, I took a gamble on the screen being broken and bought one off ebay - fixed it immediately.

Because they might check the phone for possible rooting and etc. And by completely bricking the phone they can't check if you rooted the phone or not and its caused by running custom romm

What's hboot engineer?
I tried to access the phone and memory card by connecting to computer, but can't access it.
How can I put a radio on sd card when I can't access the drive? Is there a way to do it? And last, how does bricking it completely helps? Thanks

Well first to see if you can still fix the phone download sdk. and install it.
Then download the proper drivers for your phone. If your too lazy just go to htc website and download htc sync. It will download the drivers.
Next I'm guessing you didn't flash the hboot engineer?
Its in android develop section rooting thread. Gscrpit no adb needed something like that.
Idk if fastboot will still work or not though if yoh didn't flash the hboot engineer, I'm not sure x.x
You can still try. After install all the proper drivers and everything.
Now pull out battery to make sure ur phone is off. Put it back in click volume down and power button. Plug it in to computer
Open up adb and type in adb devices. If you get serial numbers of your phone then u can flash other rom using adb.
If not then well...its bricked.
put ur sd card on other phone or use sdcard adapter to move the radio on your sd card then put it back in your phone
Let me know if you need any help

Are you absolutely sure about that? Because, if that's true then I'll might as well brick it if I'm unable to fix it.

Thanks for all your input.
I got the SDK from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
And then I also downloaded the htc sync.
However, I tried to search "Gscrpit no adb needed" but couldn't find anything.
In the link i posted above, there are two methods for installing ADB on windows, one is complete (seems very complicated) and other one is Quick way (without ADB). Does it matter which one I choose? I'm guessing the purpose of installing ABD on computer is to install a new rom in it, am I correct?

But if it's completely bricked, then how come I can still receive phone calls using my htc head phone? Also I thought bricking usually happens during the process of rooting the phone, however, this phone was rooted 4 months ago and had been working fine since then.
Edited!!!!!!!!!
Good news. I figured it out and ran adb and I'm able to see my device. Now big question how do I flash a new ROM or the stock ROM using ADB?
