I have the ever failing what it seems like my touch 4g. I dont have it rooted nor do i want it (unless need be). I was using my phone then put it on the charger, i went to use it again but it wouldnt turn the screen on to unlock. I did a battery pull, yet it just stuck to the mytouch 4g boot screen. what do i do to get it back? I looked at the forums and found similar articles, but none like mine. is there a way to do it without rooting my phone?
Use ruu pd15img file, you can find instruction about it all over the forum I believe. Note this is a factory reset so your data will be erased. Hopefully your contacts are synced by gmail.

Do you have a card adapter and a card reader, if so pull your card out of the phone and put it in the adapter then put it in the card reader once your computer sees it copy the file you downloaded and paste it on that card make sure you rename it PD15IMG then when you put your phone into hboot it should read it then it should ask to update
so far its saying fail-pu on everything. is that a bad sign that i may have a brick?
its been on Radio V2 for the past 30 min say updateing. is that normal?
its telling me that the files are corrupted. What do i have to do next? I dont have t-mobile any more so i cant take the phone back. can i wipe and root the phone?

Isnt there an option in hboot to do a factory reset? Have you tried it? If you want to root your phone, you will have to get it to boot up first.
ive tried the factory reset, i left it there for 2 hours and still didnt go from just the screen with the three androids on skate boards and thats it.

well it has to do something with the bad chip, i never had this problem myself so i'm not really sure on the details of it. but maybe you can find answers in this this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079025 it's about rooting but it explains your problem too.
Anyways from what I know is that your phone should still be under HTC warranty. you should try contact HTC and try to get a replacement. Even though you're not under tmobile the phone should technically still be under warranty as it's not even a year old... i think.. but doesn't hurt to try

Fail-PU means failed partition update, meaning your eMMC chip died, meaning that you are indeed bricked.
you could try another download of PD151IMG and see if it works.
you didn't root or anything? wow, another failed eMMC chip without root...

Hello,
I ran the radio OTA, followed the instructions, and after it rebooted itself it is just stuck on the htc incredible splash screen. If I hold power down and power I do get in to the boot loader, but rebooting still hangs on that splash screen. I read through the OTA thread and I didnt see any mention of this problem, any ideas?
Also, if I put PB31IMG.zip back on and let it do its thing, it tells me the version is too old. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, and I just ran the 2.15.00.07.28 radio zip. To be honest I didn't wipe first as I thought I didn't need to. I did run unrevoked forever prior to attempting this install. I was going to right before installing CM6.. but obviously I didn't get that far. I did run a nandroid backup before hand.
So right now I'm still staring at this htc incredible splash screen. Holding power or volume down or both doesn't change anything and I'm afraid to take out the battery. Any suggestions?!
Thanks
edit: ok so I read on the 2.15 release thread that some others were having the same problem.. Am I safe to pull out the battery and try a reflash?

OK, what are you trying to do? Sounds like you are trying to install the leaked OTA from early July (the one that gives 720P video recording)?
If that IS what you are attempting, it sounds like you already have it otherwise you wouldn't be getting that main version is older message. Check your hboot version, if it is .77 that is stock, .79 is the newer one I think
Are you sure you are using the correct PB31IMG.zip? The one you want is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726791
If you are trying to unroot and downgrade to an earlier version then you want to follow directions per this step-by-step video:

No, I was trying to update to the most recent radio from stock radio. Or do I have to update another radio inbetween? I got the zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752436&highlight=stuck+splash+screen, for 2.15 radio
or were you talking to the guy before me

My fault, I misunderstood.
No you can flash any radio, just dont flash the same one twice, or step on any cracks, and never walk under a ladder!
I just went from 1.03.04... to 2.05, and now just installed 2.15.. I didn't have any problems at all.
My fix
I had this exact issue, where it hangs on the HTC Incredible boot screen after trying to update the radio. I could boot into HBOOT (voldown+power) after a battery pull, and when it tried to update my PB31IMG.zip file, it would give some type of error, and when I would try and go into recovery it would jump back to the HTC Incredible boot screen and hang again.
I determined that my problem was caused either by a bad radio or bad recovery flash from the PB31IMG.zip file I had downloaded. I pulled my SD card and plugged it into my laptop using the MicroSD-to-SD adapter, deleted the PB31IMG.zip file, REDOWNLOADED the file from my laptop and stuck it back in the root of my SD card, the put the SD card back in the phone and rebooted into HBOOT and reflashed the radio/recovery. Problem solved.
I don't know if that will work for everyone, but it is exactly what happened to me.
Hope it helps,
jakewill

Yes my phone was bricked using that method. I'm trying not to overuse the term "bricked."
Thanks for all the help.. but once I pulled the battery and turned the phone back on, apparently it booted up just fine. I guess it just needed a little push in the right direction. Once I checked the settings, the radio was indeed flashed. I got really worried over nothing I installed CM6 and everything is just fine.
So my phone just died on me today. It's turned on, but the screen is blank. I can't see anything, the signs on the bottom (home, menu, back, search) area all bright, but pressing them doesn't help either. I've pulled out the battery the sim etc, but nothing. It'll ring if somebody calls/texts/emails but I won't know who the caller is. I can't even pick up the phone unless I've the original headphone on (by pressing the play button) and ofcourse can't make any phone calls either.
I live in Canada, and can't return it to Tmobile, since I bought it used from USA this year. This phone was bought in Oct last year by original owner so still under htc warranty.
I called htc today and they took down my address and credit card number and asked me to ship the phone to them since it's still under warranty. However I rooted this phone with s-off back in January, so I'm not sure if they'll find out. If they do they will charge me up to $39 for diagnosing the problem.
I tried going to recovery mode by holding volume down button and pressing power, but still blank screen. Is there anyway to un root it?
Do you guys think I should send it in for repair/exchange? Any advice on this will be appreciated. Thanks

If you can't fix it brick it for sure.
I'm gonna assume the phone is still working and able to access h boot and u just can't see the screen
Before you do this I recommend you to do everything you can to fix it.
Did you flash the hboot engineer?
Can you connect to your comp and access fastboot?
If you can't...welll then if I were u ill put a radio on sd card name it pc10img then click voulme up(assuming its flashing radio) (in hboot btw). Then pull out the battery to brick it completely.
well that's just my opinion

What's hboot engineer?
I tried to access the phone and memory card by connecting to computer, but can't access it.
How can I put a radio on sd card when I can't access the drive? Is there a way to do it? And last, how does bricking it completely helps? Thanks
Does anybody know if it's a problem with the screen or something to do with the software? I've been able to hear the beeps while dialing random numbers after pressing talk/dial number (not that I could see what I was pressing), so I'm guessing it's the screen, but not sure.
Can somebody tell me using their G2 that after you connect it to your computer, approximately how low on the screen is the option to access the memory/phone drive? I remember that the first option was "Charge only" but can't remember the rest of them and their order.

s-off is probably what I meant. It was a while ago that I did it using the instructions on xda so don't remember the details.
Bump!!!!!! So what other steps can be taken to fix this if any at all?
Mine did exactly the same, I took a gamble on the screen being broken and bought one off ebay - fixed it immediately.

Because they might check the phone for possible rooting and etc. And by completely bricking the phone they can't check if you rooted the phone or not and its caused by running custom romm

Well first to see if you can still fix the phone download sdk. and install it.
Then download the proper drivers for your phone. If your too lazy just go to htc website and download htc sync. It will download the drivers.
Next I'm guessing you didn't flash the hboot engineer?
Its in android develop section rooting thread. Gscrpit no adb needed something like that.
Idk if fastboot will still work or not though if yoh didn't flash the hboot engineer, I'm not sure x.x
You can still try. After install all the proper drivers and everything.
Now pull out battery to make sure ur phone is off. Put it back in click volume down and power button. Plug it in to computer
Open up adb and type in adb devices. If you get serial numbers of your phone then u can flash other rom using adb.
If not then well...its bricked.
put ur sd card on other phone or use sdcard adapter to move the radio on your sd card then put it back in your phone
Let me know if you need any help

I got the SDK from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
And then I also downloaded the htc sync.
However, I tried to search "Gscrpit no adb needed" but couldn't find anything.
In the link i posted above, there are two methods for installing ADB on windows, one is complete (seems very complicated) and other one is Quick way (without ADB). Does it matter which one I choose? I'm guessing the purpose of installing ABD on computer is to install a new rom in it, am I correct?

But if it's completely bricked, then how come I can still receive phone calls using my htc head phone? Also I thought bricking usually happens during the process of rooting the phone, however, this phone was rooted 4 months ago and had been working fine since then.

Good news. I figured it out and ran adb and I'm able to see my device. Now big question how do I flash a new ROM or the stock ROM using ADB?

I have a stock myTouch 3G 32B that won't progress past the initial login screen. I have taken pictures of the different screen/areas that I can get to. I have tried multiple SIM cards at no avail. Any help appreciated! Thanks!!
That is not a brick. Not even close to being a brick. Imagine this, you try to turn your phone on and you're greeted with the old familiar splash screen, but it stays like that, nothing happens, you start to worry and decide to boot into recovery, same thing happens, you freak out and try fastboot, same result. That's a brick. That doesn't happen to too many people, but when it does, its effing scary.
Now onto your problem. Are you sure the Sims you tried had working data? Did you try them in another phone to verify?
Thanks tvall ... I guess I should have used a different word that bricked since I know a true brick is completely non functional. This phone however is completely useless at this state though. :-(
As for the SIM cards, they were taken out of my HD2 (running Android), my wifes HD2 (also Android), Samsung Vibrant, and then a dumb phone. All the smart phones have data plans and work when their proper SIM cards are installed.
Well the phone suggested to call customer care, and it is a SMARTphone. Try taking its advice?
What I do when I have major problems is flash a sappimg and start over. (That is also the only times my phone runs stock software. I rooted on day one and flashed cm haven't gone back to stock)
Maybe, if your ok with root, do the goldcard rooting process and see if a custom rom can get data?
The phone was purchased used off craigslist ... wasn't sure if that would come up or matter if customer care was called. The whole point of this is that I was hoping to root and get a custom rom on there (trying to fix up for my niece to use). The problem is though that I don't think that I can root without a goldcard and I can't create a gold card without getting into the settings page and getting info about the phone (right?). If there is a way to do any of this using ADB or any other method I am all ears.
Also you said something about flashing a sappimg and starting over ... can I do this without the phone being rooted? It is 100% stock AFAIK.

Hi, after hours of researching to find the problem, i cant find it so as my last resort i will ask the mighty forums if there is anything they can do about it.
The problem is that its stuck in a boot loop, i can get in to bootloader and Hboot.
When i press to go in to recovery its just goes to the HTC logo and stays there.
When i try to do a factory reset same thing happened.
Anyway, the facts.
Its a DHD it used to have leedroid latest as rom, atm i have no idea it is supposed to be 1.32 stock rom for rooting and RADIO-26.14.04.28_M, kernel was also leedroid recommended but i guess that also is 1.32 stock.
It was ENG S-OFF but then i tried some PD98IMG and it changed to SHIP S-OFF
Things that i have tried.
Tried different PD98IMG to get the recovery working but nothing same thing happened there.
Tried patched/flashed the recovery part only with no luck.
Tried to get into recovery through pulling the battery inserting the usb and then inserting the battery again, no luck.
The odd thing is when i try to charge the phone and the led goes orange and when i pull the usb out it stays orange, it should turn off.
I suppose i ****ed something over but i have no clue of what that is?!?
Help would be most appreciated
I'm suggesting everyone to give this method a try although i have no experience with it but since it can be used to recover using computer i believe recovery isn't necessary here so that you can recover the firmware using the PC.
Hope this helps

Done and failed, same problem no difference what so ever.
SHIP S-OFF is OK!! U got it m8!
If you want to use your own Image do it within this way:
1. Flash this: http://www.multiupload.com/FKJ8B7Q0QM
and after this:
2. Flash this: http://www.multiupload.com/AURLLESU5V
And enjoy it! I don't know why the PD98IMG is not working on your device so I recomend to flash the RUU. Within the RUU you will also get the latest firmware for phone and wifi and so on. It's not a need, it's a must!
The 2nd ROM is same as above but it's ROOTED and contains the 4ext Recovery which will give you the option to flash whatever you want.
BUT!!! This ROM's are ORIGINAL. If you want to use a CUSTOM ROM I would recomend you will format your device by the 4ext Recovery or you are using the FULL WIPE 1.5.
Regards!
Sorry for the insane delay.
That did not work either, anyone else have any idea what to do, installing through PD98IMG.zip files seams not to work, will at this point do anything.
I'am a student so buying a new one is out of the question.
I tend to have to see things to understand them more. Maybe other people are similar. Is it possible you can video the process, put it on YouTube and some of the experts here can see it and talk you through it?

when you flashed PD98IMG.zip does it give you a cid error?. If this is the error then a gold card needs to be made for your device first, then you flash the RUU.

No CID error, its skips something called TP when i try to flash it.
I can use any simcard, its an unbranded phone i believe.
And also if it is to any help, when i plug my charger in the phone and then back out again, the little orange led keeps emitting light, as if it stills charging.
My English is not very good.
I want to know what did you do for it before its stuck in a boot loop?
You can get into HBOOT and connect the phone to the computer, then try to run RUU.Before you do this, make sure you have make golden card.
Try another pd zip..i came across a few corrupt ones, the answers in this site somewhere alterbatively google the sentence you want the answer to..or the key words,if the systems still working theres a 98% chance youll get it going boot loops from what i see are just a file or something causing chaos..once its gone voila.
Good luck

Enter hboot and paste exactly what it says in there.
SHIP AND ENG don't matter as long as it's S-OFF. If you can't access recovery and if you're unable for some reason to flash a PDimg, download AAHK and use it to unroot. That will hopefully get you into the stock ROM and S-ON of course.
Use AAHK again to root. You will still have access to your stock ROM.
Now here's the tricky part. If the phone won't boot at all that probably means there's nothing to boot at all. Happened to me a lot of times. If you can still get into hboot then don't panic. See if AAHK will help you out.
I need help, and I need it fast.
I never create accounts for forums but this phone is driving me insane.
I have a phone which is not mine but I have taken the liberty of restoring this persons phone.
It is an HTC Panache, LOCKED to Mobilicity and it is stuck on splash screen.
I have tried for countless hours to reload the software, I've downloaded 3 different files all pertaining to PDIMG15
How do I restore this phone? Which file do I need and do I need to make a Goldcard???
Everytime I try to restore it finds the PDIMG15 file on the SD Card, goes through the blue bar and Gold bar and then says CID INCORRECT, UPDATE FAILED.
What is the solution?
Thanks to anyone who can help me.
This post tells you how to make a gold card and use it on the panache.

Correct me if im wrong, but this wont work unless the phone is operational... the only thing accessible on this phone is the bootloader.
My ignorance when it comes to the panache is obviously showing. You can try the RUU?

I am downloading the RUU at the moment.
Once downloaded what exactly do I do with the RUU?
I have searched on how to use it but to no avail.
Thank you for any help.. I am desperate to fix this phone, the person I am fixing it for is obsessed with this thing.

I have downloaded the RUU
It only finds the phone when in FASTBOOT,
the RUU stays stuck on Rebooting to Bootloader, what is wrong?
Can anyone provide any insight??
Google for the line that you wrote yourself, the one that describes the fault. Look through Google results and see if there is anything you can do.
And you can try making a goldcard and loading PD15IMG, bootloader is enough for it. Or you can extract PD15IMG from RUU (it'll be different, for Panache) and use it in the same way. To load PD15IMG on your SD card use card reader.
