HTC Peep not working on mini... - HD Mini General

Hey guys,
I just found out that my HTC Peep isn't working anymore, I am getting the message account cannot have acces to twitter server.
After I did some googling and read about it on several other sites.
I found out that HTC actually has given a response:
http://twitter.com/htc
"We know that Peep/Friend Stream are not working for some, and we apologize. Please bear with us while our developers are investigating."
"Twitter is on the case! They are working on a fix for multiple mobile apps. Peep/Friend Stream should be back soon! http://ht.ly/2yiEq "
The overall explanation seems to be that it seems to have to do with the new safer access authorisation protocol....
(Oauth) that twitter is using sinds 31 august this year...
HTC is on the problem.. How long it will take...?? I can't give an answer.

Just received an email from Twitter, their are changing the way applications are logged on their servers. It can be we'll have soon the allow back Peep.

Hope so, it isn't very nice to have yet another problem, while there are still problems with the intermittend audio muting update...
We will wait and see of course...

I doubt it will be soon. I have come to realize more and more that HTC tech and support is a very lazy bunch. They're probably just sitting on it. Until a newer unit comes. And you'll be forced to upgrade. (Buy new unit.)
I've sent many complaints about the buggy Sense UI, several app problems, problems that the phone hangs ever few weeks which requires hard reset and losing all data. But they just sit on it. They do nothing about it, except ask you to bring your unit to service center for replacement. That's the only thing they know, for every single problem you bring up, replacement is the only offered solution.

Maybe this is a marketing strategy. I don't think they are lazy but once the phone is on the market, they forget about it and start developing new ones. They launches so much models and so quickly but forgot about testing and support for older ones.
I don't think this is the key to success in business but, this is my impression about HTC for the last 2 years.
My 2 cents,

I can confirm that HTC Peep is working again since yesterday!

HTC says new updates soon!

Just thought i'd share a reply from HTC from a message I sent them complaing of a few things about the HD2.
This was the reply.
"Thank you for your email. HTC greatly appreciates all customer feedback from our customers, and your comments and suggestions will be passed on the relevant departments. Please note that HTC is currently working on a number of software updates for the HD2 device, and hopefully these will be available in the very near future."
I doubt they will fix everything but its a start.
There are more people that have been getting the same responses. And they point in the direction of the end of january. So let's hope those updates will fix some stuff.
Yeah, fingers crossed, I have just replied to them asking if they know anything about Windows Mobile 6.6 and also if they will be releasing a ROM for Windows Mobile 7 when it comes out.
Not holding my breath for much inside info but always worth a try.
Automatic Updates?
Monday morning (18. of January) I noticed an unfamiliar icon in the top "status bar" on my HD2. It was a square with the familiar "check-out" or OK (V) symbol - I cannot find a description of it in the user manual.
When I tapped the top bar, the "Notifications" appeared, and it was described (in Norwegian) that updates were available. I was guided to connect the phone to a PC with the USB cable. I followed the instructions, but it was never announced what was being updated (if anything.)
Someone who can tell me what is going on? (The user manual did not help me.)
Operators' Settings?
Just a guess, but this update notification and update can be related to the periodic operators settings database update and not the system/software...
i think HTc stopped working on HD2, and working now on wm7 devices
can't wait for wm7!
I'm sure O2 UK will make these updates available to download in, well, 2015?
I've written to O2 a couple of times asking them when any ROM updates will be made available...I don't expect any replies though.

8 days in...

and i'm not sure i'm keeping it.
Crashes/locks up once a day. Pulling the battery is the only cure.
Opera crashed and I had to delete and re-install twice.
It looks glorious. The screen and animation is really amazing.
But the functionality is getting to me. I screen lock, and somehow hear clicking in my pocket. The browsing is tedious. Facebook app sucks. No "like" option. Trying to read replies to status updates is terrible.
Mail is not how I like it. Can I delete a bunch of messages at once? I can't see how...
If I return it, I have no idea what I would get...N1? BB Bold 9700?
My iPhone 2G was slow, with no VV, GPS, or 3G but I miss it.
I REALLY wanna like this phone. I kinda do... But I only have 5 days left to decide if I'm sticking with it.
Disclaimer: this is my 1st WinMo phone. I have no idea how to fix stuff or mod it to my liking. XDA forums seem way over my head.

i was almost on the same boat as you until i found some nice replacements apps and mods from the open market. if your phone begins to lag be sure to check your task manager. secondly, download a maintenance app called "free ram" from the open market. i use both daily. i also reboot my phone at least once a day to prevent lag. (basically every morning). i thought this was normal for all smartphone users.
also, download the facebook replacement app from the open market. it'll update your current facebook app to view and make replies.
secondly, do the same for google from the open market. it will add pinch to zoom features as well as google buzz. the latest update i believe is version 4.0 or higher.
hope some of this helps..
Also, you can disable HTC Sense in the homescreen. I just did it and my phone is beginning to make me very happy. This thing is blazing fast now.
i would recommend getting a custom ROM, but if you're using the T-Mobile US 1024 version be careful. i have never experinced lock-ups whatsoever for the last 3 months ive been using my phone
Am I the only one here? My HD2 NEVER crashed, hanged locked... got it from more than one month and it works perfectly and I use it for work, internet, games, mail, sms, mms and other stuff...
I'm starting to think that all people around here that start crying saying the HD2 is buggy maybe are a bunch on "LUSERS" that cry to their system administrator at work because "my computer is broken"...

Way to engender community spirit LOL. MMV, milage may vary. The phone has been out for about 6 months now (except TMobile US), multiple production runs, with various stock and custom ROMS and versions of software running on them. Users range from people who have used and tweaked Windows Mobile devices for years to ex iPhone Users to those who have never needed to do more than insert a SIM card. With great power comes great responsibility and these devices have great power. Some people report no problems, some people report great problems, but some people use it as a telephone, others use it as a laptop replacement. As a member of this community I like to think that I help support users with less experience than myself. Yes, it can get frustrating sometimes when people don't RTFM or search the forum's before posting. It's frustrating when you see someone slagging off HTC and the HD2 because they didn't bother looking at the specifications or read reviews before buying. It is also obvious however that 6 months ago the original HD2 was buggy but successive ROMS and hotfixes have resolved most of the issues (again, milage may vary). Unfortunately those users who bought the device with contracts and are locked into their service providers cannot always get access to the latest stock ROMS so are forced to use custom ROMS (which can be daunting to some people) or put up with the issues.
Good luck to those who have never had a problem with their phone. For those of you that do have issues, I am sure that members of this forum will continue to try and help respond to any questions you have. Just please read your manual and search the forum before posting, mention your ROM version and remember that this forum is made up of many cultures and humour does not always translate. What might seem like funny to one person mighty appeare arrogant and aggressive to others (again, milage may vary).
I thought this was going to be a short post when I started, sorry.
I have seen many problems listed here as I started coming down here (from Rhodium and Wizard forums) BEFORE I got my device. While I was waiting for it to delivered I had already downloaded custom rom, hot fixes, spl, etc. I am OCD and have RFD (rom flashing disorder), so I wanted to be prepared. People really should be better consumers and read.....lots.

Me too, had it since November. Absolutely love it.
Thanks for the advice. I use the task manager every couple of hours to close out programs. listen, I wanna love it. I really do. But the freezes and slow downs are frustrating.
Yes, I'm an iPhone user, but I'm not helpless. I just don't know anything, yet, about Windows Mobile. The HD2 hardware and HTC Sense attracted me to this phone.
Open Market? Is that different from the MARKETPLACE on my phone?
As far as deleting all mail, this is the 2nd instance where there were other options below the screen when selecting MENU. I just didn't scroll down...rookie mistake.
Thanks again. I'll keep at it with your suggestions.
Much appreciation for the constructive help here.

Hi, Open Market is indeed different from Marketplace. It's an app (OMarket) for the http://www.freewarepocketpc.net site.
Regards.
If you can't get along with your HD2, get an HTC Desire (Nexus One). Almost the same as the HD2 hardware-wise, but much better software.
You get lots of *good* apps, like on your iPhone and you won't get all the lock ups and bugs.
(I know, there are lots of apps for WM as ell, but as has been said, they mostly suck, when compared to their iPhone/Android counterparts).

Just in case there is any confusion, the Nexus One and HTC Desire are not the same phone. The Nexus One is apparently nearly half a milimeter thinner than the Desire Slashgear has a comparison of both devices here: http://www.slashgear.com/htc-desire-vs-google-nexus-one-2074966/.

Its official the update for Tmobile UI sense is coming

I just got contacted by HTC representative who asked me to verify my serial number and he mentioned that they finally realized that there is a problem with sms freezing and UI sense and are working hard to fix it. He doesn't know when this update will be available. I did tell him that new iphone is coming out soon they better fix it now or else
Keep calling htc and tmo to expedite this
Sure!!! We have nothing better to do than call HTC. I mean there really is no other way around this problem...
Wait, there's this site called "XDA Developers". They are kinda new so they might not be on the internet yet. They make these custom ROM thingings that fix a lot of HTC Sense problems.
But let some folks on here tell it there wasnt a problem.. it was just "user error."
But custom ROM doesn't fix the sms problems.
But it's more of an annoyance than a problem to begin with. I just delete my texts every 60-80 messages right after syncing with MyPhone.
Pretty Good

Will this update be on HTC's website or T-mobile's? I find that both websites are very difficult to find anything on.
At the same time that I wish they would rush an update out, I hope they take their time and properly fix some of the most prevalent problems with the UI. SMS in general and emails not deleting properly from the HTC UI top my list. Most everything else I have found a fix for.

Bravo my friend. Bravo. I don't understand the ease at which people give up on their right as a customer to be at least satisfied - not even overwhelmed - with the product that they buy. I spent too much money to have to scavenger hunt a fix that is officially not even available yet. Yes, I love XDA, but I should not have to come here for THE BASICS. Sms problems and music glitches that are proprietary?!?!? C'mon. You should come here for advanced tweaks not this BS.
I just called HTC and complained. They said that they are well aware of the problems. There will be a fix, but T-mo has to approve it. It is "supposed" to address: music lag, sms lag and additional sms problems. I was told to monitor this site for the fix: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
They do not know when it is coming, but they are getting "bombarded" I was told. As the original poster said: Keep calling.

I for one am glad to see that HTC and T-Mobile haven't abandoned their new clients. If the iPhone has taught us anything, it's that customers are much more likely to sue a company if that company admits to a few small errors. Today it's hard to find a company that will update new equipment without solid reason.
But I am very glad to be a member of these forums, where I don't have to wait for the corporate red-tape to be cut and discarded to get my phone fixed

As much as I laughed at this, if it was perfect to begin with then we might be pretty bored here at XDA
I just an email from HTC and they told me to watch T-mobile WMupgrade site..Lets see what will happened.
a sad pattern forming
I just read on pocketnow.com the the euro hd2 is JUST NOW getting an update to stop the music play lag time and skipping. This phone has been out since november overseas. Most of the hot fixes that I have seen on the original hd2 site are the EXACT problems we are now experiencing with the US version.
It is unacceptable to me to have this blatant negligence. We are breaking our necks trying to tweak and hone this phne to the best of its capabilities, but we are doomed to fail because it was shipped - intentionally - flawed. Not even with new flaws but KNOWN pre-existing flaws. I don't find this to be cool in the least.
You would think that given so much time in between the euro and US version introductions that there would honestly be chages made so that the next customers truly get a better experience. It appears that HTC just randomly slapped the 2.0 verion on the software and gave it their blessing. This will be my last phone by this company.

Overseas, they are just getting a music hot fix 5 months after the introduction of the phone. I am sure there were more than 10 people that complained about the problem. That we here in the states don't have an update up on the site already is ridiculous since htc AND t-moblie knew the sofware was going to react with glitches from the start. We are mirrioring te errors that the first HD2 had. Lets see how long they make us wait.
ya, i agree with some of the other posts on this thread. why should we pay top dollar for the "lastest and greatest" only to search other means for solutions to known problems. i've flashed my rom, but it's still not 100% there, the messaging lags and my data connection goes back and forth all day and i could be sitting in the same spot.
there is no reason i should have to do a bunch of technical crap to this phone to get it to simply function correctly when its supposed to be the best offering by tmobile to date. i mean, i didn't by a barebones computer system here.
i purchased one for my fiance, and she throws fits about it on a daily basis. "i want my iphone back." i cant say the iphone is a better phone, but at least it does what it says it does, usually without problems. i on the otherhand have tweaked mine and far more tech savy, so i understood what i'm getting myself into. but that's not the point, this phone shouldnt be the way it is, and these problems being treated the way they are.

Suprise Suprise

Got home today and found an email from HTC in the inbox.
Basicly saying that from this week everyone who owns a Hero will start getting the over the air update for Eclair Android 2.1 consisting of 2 parts. Second update will be near the end of June. Second update will erase all info on the phone etc....
This is for the Nordic phones.
Not long to wait then. Good news i think.

Exchange Policy mods

Hi All,
just got myself a galaxy tab from Tesco's in the UK. Only popped out for a new paper and came home ~£470 poorer. Just need to break the news to my darling wife. Massively impressed with the tab, I do a lot of email & browsing on my htc desire so moving to a screen with 3 x the real estate is fantastic. The samsung apps also look pretty good (although haven't spent time playing).
Anyway, I'd stop rambling and ask the question.
Has anyone patched the Samsung equivalent of Email.apk yet to ignore the exchanges policies pushed down from the server? I want to side step the crazy password policies my company enforce (and replace with a pattern lock like on my desire)? Would love to install (as soon as I've read up on the rooting process!)
Please lets not get into a discussion of the rights and wrongs of doing this, we're not bill-jobsian WP7-iOS so I'd rather stick to technicalities rather than moralities ;-)
Many thanks
Matt
I also wait for the fix since a few days. But it seems that there are not so many affected users out there which have an Exchange 2010 SP1 in use.
I wrote already a mail to Samsung. I asked if they know the problem and are working on a solution. The answer was short: "we don't give support for Exchange"... Maybe they haven't understood the problem... I hope...
I already plan to hack it myself... Currently I use a 3rd party tool for Exchange Data... But it sucks that something like this is necessary. IMHO
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
It has nothing to do with the passwords, it is an EAS/Provision Problem for Android which is fixed in 2.2.1 and the funny thing is that my Galaxy S is working fine with the same Exchange, but the Tab is not, as i heard Sprint fixed that somehow.
I m really hoping for a solution too.
